Hook

  • One of the best architects and stone masons from early 19th century Spain doesn’t want to be involved in the war for Europe but isn’t really convinced about leaving.
  • His wife, another as catholic as him, was plagued with visions of his husband creating a wonder buried under a mountain.
  • Added to the pressures of war and uncertainty, their child was born.

 

 

Backstory

  • In 19th century Europe, the French revolution caused a wave of change and Napoleon’s Skirmishes took Spain, it was either escape or join the fight.
  • Arthur was the best architect in his region and he had ties with the catholic church, but under Napoleonic Spain that meant to be sided with the enemy.
  • His choice was to escape and fulfill the epiphany of building a city under a mountain in the Americas.

 

 

Trigger

  • As pressure arose, Arthur was about to be banished because of his ties with the church. His friend Father Rocabado managed to help them exit the country and offered them asylum in South America.
  • On the way to exit they’re intercepted by the French navy, he manages to take his family on another ship in time but he stays behind to help them traverse the blockage.
  • While he is under arrest, he manages to help the royalist rally against Napoleonic occupation and gets his freedom to find his family, without knowing he’d walk right into the liberation war.
  • His only goal is to reunite with his family and fulfill his calling.
