Abstract Figures

PROJECT ARTWORK #2

This is another but much more brightly painted sketch for this class project.

I used a twig and waterproof ink to sketch the scene, and then added watercolour. Done on an A3 sized sheet of Canson XL 300g cold press paper.

The unpredictable lines and flow of ink that the twig produced, really helped create the loose, free looking characters and buildings.

 PROJECT ARTWORK #1

I first of all painted the background in my 20cm x 20cm sketchbook, using acrylic paints and then let it dry for a day or so.

I then applied the ink with a long thin wooded skewer (the type you put meat on at a BBQ) to sketch the figures.

The bit I enjoyed the most was where the stick would ripple along the page sometimes when it was held at an almost flat angle.

Great class and one that I'll be popping back to now and then for more inspiration
