Future Author Bio

Carolyn Silva’s whimsical childhood began in the quaint hills of Clayton, CA, a small town east of San Francisco. As the (self-proclaimed) fearless leader of her two younger siblings, she loved getting lost in the world of make-believe that the three of them created together. Growing up, her family went on one type of vacation year after year: a roadtrip to San Diego to visit her Nana, then straight to Disneyland! She was fortunate to be shaped by strong family values and the magic of storytelling at such a young age.
Carolyn received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at UCLA, where she spent her time coaching youth swim lessons and working part-time at the campus daycare. After graduating during a pandemic and spending a couple years in the corporate sales world, she finally decided to pursue her dream of bringing her own stories to life.
Fast forward a few years (and many, many cups of coffee), she can proudly say she’s a New York Times Bestselling Author and illustrator of fifteen children’s books, including the 2027 Newbery Prize winner, What a Tutu Can Do.
Carolyn is immensely grateful for the endless love and support from her community of family and friends. She hopes her work continues to spotlight the balance between introducing children to important life lessons while teaching them to embrace their bountiful imaginations.
Without imagination, we never learn how to dream.
