Hi Julia, and thanks so much for sharing your project— I think you did a great job! And YES It's totally fine if you feel like 'other methods' (aka less words, and more sketching/colors) works better for you! That's the joy of creating is that we can adapt methods to make them suit our own way of workingI love the circular shapes of your final piece and the contrast with the straighter more flowy lines.
