I made myself a 9x12" copic bound sketchbook using mixed media paper. That's what I used for this project. On the right side is where I painted my rectangles. I used a variety of different granulating paints I had in my stash. My rectangles were ~ 1 1/2" x 2". I used a 3/4" flat wash brush to apply the paints. Then I just started going through my art supplies and seeing what I wanted to try - some mark-making and some just seeing how the different colors/supplies worked on top of the paints. On the left side of the open book is where I wrote more of my notes. I still have more paints and supplies that I haven't tried yet, so I will keep going - this will be a great reference library for me in the future. What a great project.

this is just a page before any marks on top. it's the 1st set of the kuretake granulating watercolors.

 

this one was the kuretake set #2 paints with the kuretake silver and gold on top using one of those little fineliner bottles, then king art acrylic brush tip markers in regular and then metallic. then at the bottom, just some sakura fine liners in 08,10,&12

 

the paint is the kuretake granulating set 2. the top marks were the creative inspiration silky water soluble crayons (first 4 rows), then the stabilo woody crayons the bottom 2 rows. they were all activated with water.

 

this was the kuretake aurora set granulating paints - on top I used all my metallic watercolor paints

 

this was a.gallo paints and then I listed what I used on top - all water activated. the bottom row was the red yellow blue set of the art grafs

 

this was a.gallo paints with m&g mixed media sticks (top 3 rows) and shuttle art tempera sticks (bottom 3 rows). the last 3 squares were the faber castell gelatos.

this was the schmincke super-granulating paint. on top, I ued the kuretake graphite paints (I think) in the green-black (KGB), yellowish-black (KYB), blue-black (KBB), and purplish black (KPB)

this was schmincke super-granulating paint. I noted what I used on top. the neocolor 2 section, I activated the first 2 circles with water as well as the artgraf.
