Not sure if this is good artwork (!!!) but I discovered I like using willow charcoal sticks to kind of "carve" out an image. With some practice I might get better at smudging the charcoal; as of right now, it felt kind of overworked. (Knowing when to stop is a battle sometimes.) Also, I added colored pastels to the charcoal in one image and it looked "meh" so I won't do that again. 

I'd love your feedback -- at what point should I have quit working on the first pig?
