My inner critic is pretty much always there. Her name’s Smashing Susie. She’s constantly yapping at me, no matter what I’m doing. But she gets especially loud when I’m trying to get creative. She says stuff like: 'You’re not creative,' 'You’re not original,' 'Your work is always boring,' 'You don’t have the eye or the talent.' She’ll go, 'You can’t make up your mind, you don’t even know what you want... so you might as well just quit, this isn’t for you.' Or 'You’re too weak,' 'You lack the confidence and the skills,' 'And you definitely can't sell yourself,' 'You don't stand a chance.' So, I often just end up stuck in my own head... an idea pops up... and Smashing Susie just smothers it before it even has a chance.
