Thank you Chris. I think I created a cab limousine though. Any idea how to fox that? Something definitely whacky about that focus car. 

Oh, I don’t think it looks like a cab limo. We are always our own worst critics, I think. If it’s a little larger than standard, maybe it’s a flashy new 2025 model! :) 

This turned out fantastic, Kris! The reflections on the wet street and the sense of movement in the composition are really well done. You’ve captured the atmosphere beautifully, with the interplay of warm and cool tones adding so much life to the scene. I really like your thoughtful self-evaluation, using black and white to analyze values is such a strong approach. It’s great to hear how your background in photography influences your painting process, and I completely agree that switching to grayscale can help isolate values without the distraction of color. That’s a brilliant practice, and I imagine it gives you a much clearer understanding of contrast and depth. Your mindset about repainting rather than over fixing is something I fully support. Often, trying to “rescue” a painting leads to overworking, whereas starting fresh allows you to apply what you’ve learned with a clearer perspective. I’m really looking forward to seeing your next version, this first attempt is already excellent!
