Motivation Project - Bill Howson

Motivation - Class Project

Assignment 0: Pick a goal

To become a 3D Animator in Maya

Assignment 1: Find your true purpose

How would my life change once you reach your goal?

I would be using the skills I learnt at university.

Why do I want this?

I want this because it's been my childhood dream.

How would that change my life?

I would be doing something I loved doing and something that I want to be professional in.

What would this look like?

Either working full time for a studio as an Animator (either permanently or on a contract), or freelancing in the creative field.

How would this make me feel?

Excited, happy, motivated, like I have a role in society.

ANSWER: Working as an Animator for 3D Projects, wanted to be part of a larger society.
Assignment 2: Turn the world into your motivator

  1. Checking emails and cinema showings every morning
    1. Keeping on top of new updates about my life and what is happening/who wants to talk to me (speech therapist, work colleagues, potential new jobs, etc.)
  2. Walking past lots of people
    1. Shows me that I’m part of a small society, but a reminder of a larger society (e.g. London, Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol, etc.) that I want to be a part of.
  3. Using computers
    1. Using the work computer is a reminder of the kind of work I want to be doing with computers.
  4. Watching films
    1. Getting inspired by other creatives and stories to motivate me to make my own stories.
  5. Talking to people
    1. A reminder that I want to be talking to people who want my specific skill set.

Assignment 3: Sharpen your goal

A signal that would show I’ve reached my goal is finishing a new animation every month. This would prove that I’m able to work independently on my passion and that I can work under professional standards.
