It has been a while! I added some more headshots, This time I used photo refs from a photography page and used Kyle's building blocks to draw the faces in. You can see here and there where I've erased some of the construction lines. This was a fun excercise and I recommend it. You can see Kyle do it in the head construction tutorial.

Added a photo of some pen and pencil sketchwork trying a few different angles - the good, the bad and the ugly. The latter ones in the sequence turned out better so that's something!

Nice stuff Gavin!  I like how you took what I covered in the videos and applied it to sketching from other reference photos.  That's a good habit to practice!  Studying real-life imagery of anatomy will help you broaden your horizons much more, and will help you further develop the self-motivation to practice.  In your sketches, the only suggestions I would make for improvement are to continue practicing the placement of the facial features when drawing the head from different angles.  Some things look a bit off, but with more time and practice you'll get there in no time.  Your body gesture sketches are definitely on the right track, so now the next step should be practicing more to develop a more confident hand in order to produce cleaner lines. Keep it up!  And continue to study reference photos as well.  Two good sites to use are either Pinterest or Quickposes.com.  Both are excellent resources :) P.S. - Thanks so much for the course review!  I'm glad to see what I've put together has helped you so far :) Keep Persevering!

Thanks! I'll be amazed if anyone can guess the famous actresses I used for a couple of the heads. They look nothing like them. Drawing form lines over the faces helped. I can absolutely see where the first efforts are off. Eyes are too close on one of them. Hopefully there will be noticeable progress in the future posts!

Capturing likenesses of faces is challenging and it took me many years to pull it off where people could tell who it was without needing a caption.  I'll have to do a course in the future on capturing likeness.  There will be, as long as you keep practicing, but more importantly you gotta believe you can improve :) Mindset is everything, no matter what you're doing.
