Pears and Puddles

Pears and Puddles - student project

I surprised myself! I actually made it work...and it wasn’t hard. Well, most of it worked. I also took the plunge and tried some washes over the top of pears and 1 background after reading what Chris had said about washes on another person’s work. Shocked the heck out of me as I had no idea how that worked. Lots more to explore with that discovery.

I am sticking to pears for now to keep myself from getting too far away from the idea of practice.

These are in the order I painted them in...

Without watching the class on how to make a varied color background, I tried my version. It was OK until I thought it needed fixing. I gave up on it after making a mess.

04042020: Back to the pears after a hiatus.

What I discovered was that I need a lot more practice with washes. After the first pear picture had a lot of blooms in the background wash, I stopped and just did a bunch of washes like what you did in the video. Um, a rather frustrating experience! It’s back to the videos to watch how to do the dark to light washes for backgrounds...
