Mixed Media Pastry

Mixed Media Pastry - student project

First I swatched out some watercolors and watercolor pencils. After that I watched out for matching colors out of my new set of Faber Castell Polychromos. The sketch was done with graphite pencil. At the end I added some highlights with a ballpoint gel pen in white. The paper is Daler Rowney Watercolor cold pressed paper, that I personally didn't like as much for the mixed media project. Since this was my first real attempt to mix watercolor with colored pencils, I was so concentrated with the process that I sadly forgot to take some pictures during the painting process. The finished piece took me maybe about 10 hours. The size of the paper is 11.7 x 16.5 inches, probably the biggest pastry I've ever painted.

By the way does anybody know how this pastry is called in english? Here in Germany it's called either "Berliner" or "Pfannkuchen" depending on the region.
