I already have a pretty set style for the different mediums I use so I tried to use some other materials to figure out the line styles that worked best with them. I enjoyed the colored pencil just because I am the most familiar with it. But the forced boldness of the paint pens was a lot of fun, and I always enjoyed red and gold together. I think my least favorite was the fine liners because I was trying to force them to do something they weren't meant to.

Shape was tough for me to play with just because I am a very literal thinker and ladybugs are pretty much a standard shape. That being said, I enjoyed breaking the shape by splitting the wings. I also liked emphasizing the shape with line direction.

I went into this one knowing I have a preference for things to either be close up or very tiny with lots of negative space. This held for this as well. While I like the idea of the close-ups, my favorite was the little tiny fly on the big old background. Very cute.

I have always struggled with values. I tend to like black and white and things with very strong contrast which is why I liked the second butterfly. Low contrast just doesn't do it for me. It ends up looking muddy. (I use my phone camera set on b&w filter to test contrast).

Color was a bit of a stretch for me. I didn't want to just do realistic, even though that is what I frequently do in my everyday art. I preferred the monotone because it was simple, clean, and cohesive. The cool colors were second place because I felt they had a lot of variance while staying in the same zone. Pastels were my third favorite just because I really like pastels.

This was probably the most fun for me because I don't play with texture a whole lot. I think my favorite is the chunky hair bee butt of number 6 (ironically, I did that one for a laugh because the reference image was funny). I also like the wings of number 2 because they look like netting. I think my third favorite is probably number 3 just because I like the way the wings look and how structured the 'hair' looks.
