Bluebird Using Layers
Bockingford Coldpress Watercolour - 300gsm
Daniel Smith - Hansa Yellow Medium, Quinacridone Gold, Raw Umber
Winsor Newton - Indigo, Ultramarine, Yellow Ochre, Alizarin Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Burnt Umber
I'm fairly happy with how my Bluebird turned out overall. I was definitely a bit impatient and jumped into stages before enough drying in between. I did go back over a few patches to try get more of a definitition of layers that were lost (as this is the look that i fell in love with!). I'm happy with the head but lost my sketchlines around the bottom layer, meaning I had to wing it at times (pun intended!) and aslo lost some of my nice lighter areas in there too. I could have used a much finer brush for the legs as they did get away with me. I'm hoping everyone will be drawn to the eye instead! :)
Thank you Paul for a fantastic tutorial. I've kept the sketch printout to try another time or two, and I've framed this one for my wall!
