What a beautiful subject you have enticed us with Will! I always enjoy sharing my experiences, and this time, I must say everything went smoothly for me. There were no roadblocks, no mishaps, and no ‘ugh’ moments—everything really came together beautifully. I think this has become one of my favorite paintings that I’ve completed. I think I’m finally getting my mojo back!

I’ll add that not painting the flowing skirt or background strictly with the wet-on-wet technique was a big advantage for me, as I still struggle with covering large areas using that method. The only slight issue I faced was finding a hair color that I liked. However, I wouldn’t really consider color mixing a problem, as I find great pleasure in creating different shades. I just need to remember to jot down my process as I go, since I can’t recall everything I did from the beginning of the painting to the end! Hahaha…
