first i picked a piece by georgia o'keeffe that i really liked and noted what came to mind. as im not very good with storytelling yet i tried to convey what i felt from the painting rather than thinking about who, where, when etc. choosing some of the stylisitc elements of the painting as well (ha, elements!)

after that i experimented with some body proportions and shapes to then start building a design on two of them that seemed fitting:

in the end i liked 2 of the 7 designs i sketched, which i then started to refine, also adding some elements from discarded sketches like the "hair".

i've seen these silhouettes so many times but never tried it myself, so i did that as well. it was really helpful to pick which one fit the painting more in terms of shapes:

and after that i played around with different brushes and some colors in procreate to finish the character! :)

i really enjoyed this class and feel like it was a good practice for me. i usually dont do lineart a lot and also rarely do character designs like this or in this way. i really enjoyed both!
