Watercolour sunsets

Watercolour sunsets - student project

Watercolour sunsets - image 1 - student projectMy first try at testing my watercolours on different wet paper. The paper was a bit dryer on parts of the sheet. Interesting to see how the paint behaved on the wet paper.

Watercolour sunsets - image 2 - student project Watercolour test how paints bleed into each other. Not always easy to control how the paint flows on the paper. I like the bloom parts a lot.

Watercolour sunsets - image 3 - student projectMy first try at sunsets. Had no control, just played with the paints. Of course I overworked them. Was fun to do but not very easy to get the sunsets like I wanted them to look.

Yes, I know, at least seven or eight strokes. Haha!… But I like these a lot. Will definitely try to makes more of these.

My watercolours: Schmincke brilliant opera rose, Winsor & Newton PayneÅ› gray, Winsor yellow, Van Gogh Pyrrole orange, dusk green, Rósa Gallery turquoise and I mixed a purple with Schmincke brilliant opera rose and Winsor & Newton French ultramarine.

As always, I loved Ohn Mar’s course again. Loved to learn how to make sunsets. Not as easy as it looks but you get better the more you make them. Will make more sunsets like these in the near future. And to try this with northern lights. You are a such good teacher and instructor. It is a pleasure to follow your lead when painting and learning new techniques. Can’t wait for your next watercolour course. Thank you so much, Ohn Mar!
