Paul's Bluebird

This was another fun class from Paul. His bird classes are the best! I struggled a bit with the indigo on the beak and around the eye, but in the end I think I captured this bird's personality - though he does look a bit grumpy! For me, indigo is very staining and it is difficult to lift and move about if it isn't exactly right the first go-around. For this project, I used Bockingford Cold Press 140lb. paper, Daniel Smith paints: Yellow Ochre, Indigo, Burnt Umber, and Hansa Yellow Light, and Cotman-Winsor&Newton paints: Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, and Ultramarine Blue. I also used Dr. pH Martin's Bleed Proof White for the eyespot. I will probably paint this bird a few more times because it was such fun. Thanks, Paul, for offering another great class!
