The Infinite Library — Virtual Reality Event Brand Identity
Creation of a distinctive visual identity for The Infinite Library, an immersive virtual reality literary exhibition where books become explorable worlds.
The identity should position the event as a premium, imaginative and technologically innovative cultural experience rather than a conventional book festival or virtual conference.

3. Product / Business Name StoryThe name The Infinite Library comes from the idea that a library is no longer limited to physical shelves, pages or geographical space. In this experience, every book becomes a doorway into an entirely different world. The word “Infinite” represents the limitless possibilities of literature, imagination and virtual reality, while “Library” immediately establishes the event's connection to books and storytelling. The name was chosen to communicate both familiarity and wonder: audiences understand what a library is, but the idea of an infinite one suggests that there is always another story, world or experience waiting to be discovered.
4. WhatNOVA Events is a premium events production agency specialising in creating memorable brand experiences, cultural events, exhibitions and immersive activations. The company works with brands and organisations to develop events from concept through to production, combining strategy, creative direction, technology, spatial design and audience experience. NOVA positions itself at the intersection of culture, creativity and emerging technology, with a focus on producing events that feel sophisticated, contemporary and highly considered.
5. WhyNOVA Events believes that technology should not replace human experiences but should create new ways for people to connect with them. The Infinite Library has been conceived to reconnect audiences with literature through a medium that feels unexpected and exciting. NOVA wants to demonstrate that books can be experienced as places, environments and journeys, allowing audiences to step beyond simply reading a story and instead explore its atmosphere and world. The event also aims to introduce literature to audiences who may not traditionally attend book festivals or literary events.
6. GoalsNOVA's long-term goal is to establish The Infinite Library as a recognisable annual cultural event and eventually develop it into an international virtual literary platform. The first edition should establish a strong visual identity that can evolve across future editions without losing recognition. NOVA also hopes the project will strengthen its reputation as an innovative events agency capable of combining cultural programming with emerging technology. In the longer term, the event could expand to include international authors, publishers, educational institutions, gaming studios and other creative partners.
7. Brand Values-
Imagination — Encouraging audiences to explore ideas, stories and worlds beyond the expected.
-
Innovation — Using VR and digital technology to create genuinely new experiences rather than technology for its own sake.
-
Discovery — Making every interaction feel like the beginning of a new story.
-
Inclusivity — Creating an experience that welcomes readers and non-readers alike.
-
Craftsmanship — Giving equal importance to storytelling, technology and visual execution.
-
Connection — Bringing authors, readers, creators and communities together.
-
Curiosity — Encouraging audiences to question what lies beyond the next door, page or world.
The Infinite Library differs from conventional literary festivals because the books themselves become destinations. Instead of simply watching an author talk or browsing a digital catalogue, visitors can enter immersive environments inspired by different genres and stories. The event combines virtual reality, literature, spatial audio, interactive environments and live programming into one experience. Features include author talks, literary-themed escape rooms, virtual readings with spatial soundscapes and explorable fictional worlds. The event also removes geographical barriers, allowing audiences from different countries to participate without physically travelling to a festival venue.
9. Tone of Voice / Brand PersonalityThe brand should feel mysterious, intelligent, imaginative, sophisticated and inviting. Communication should create curiosity without becoming overly complicated or pretentious. The language can occasionally feel poetic and cinematic, particularly when introducing fictional worlds, but practical information should remain clear and accessible. The brand should speak as though it is inviting the audience on an adventure rather than selling them a conventional event ticket. It should feel confident and premium without becoming corporate.
Key personality traits:
Curious · Cinematic · Intelligent · Mysterious · Playful · Premium · Welcoming
“Every book is a world.”
“Step beyond the page.”
11. Primary AudienceThe primary audience is adults aged approximately 18–40, with a broad gender mix, living primarily in major cities and digitally connected communities. They include university students, young professionals, creatives, designers, writers, readers, gamers, technology enthusiasts and culturally curious individuals. They are comfortable using digital platforms and are likely to own or have access to smartphones, computers and potentially VR hardware. They value experiences that feel unique and shareable and are attracted to cultural events that offer something beyond traditional entertainment. They are generally curious, imaginative, visually aware and interested in discovering new forms of storytelling.
12. What They Care AboutThis audience cares about experiences, discovery, creativity and authenticity. They want to feel that their time and money are being spent on something genuinely different rather than another generic digital event. They value high-quality visual design, interesting stories, social interaction and technology that serves a meaningful purpose. They are influenced by recommendations, social media, cultural trends, creators and visually compelling campaigns. They are also likely to appreciate flexibility: being able to attend remotely, explore at their own pace and choose which worlds or experiences they want to visit.
13. Secondary AudienceThe secondary audience includes adults aged approximately 35–60, including established readers, authors, publishers, educators, librarians, cultural organisations, literary professionals and potential sponsors. This audience may be less familiar with VR but has a strong interest in literature, education and cultural programming. It also includes publishing companies, technology companies and brands looking for innovative cultural partnerships. The design therefore needs to remain sophisticated and credible enough for professional audiences while retaining the sense of wonder required to appeal to younger digital audiences.
14. CompetitorsThe Infinite Library will compete indirectly with existing literary festivals, book fairs, virtual cultural events and immersive entertainment platforms rather than with one single direct competitor.
Relevant reference competitors include:
-
International literary festivals — Strong author programming and literary credibility, but generally centred around physical venues.
-
Book fairs and publishing exhibitions — Strong industry presence but often focused on commercial publishing and physical displays.
-
Virtual literary festivals — Demonstrate the potential for online author talks and readings but can feel similar to conventional video conferences.
-
VRChat and similar social VR platforms — Demonstrate the social and exploratory potential of virtual environments.
-
Immersive entertainment experiences — Strong examples of using environmental design and storytelling to make audiences feel physically transported into another world.
Competitive opportunity: The Infinite Library should sit between literary culture, gaming, virtual reality and immersive entertainment, rather than looking like a traditional book festival.
15. Strategic Considerations / Big PictureThe first edition of The Infinite Library should establish a visual identity that can become the foundation of a larger cultural platform. The identity should not be overly tied to one genre, author or individual VR environment because future editions may introduce new worlds and programming.
The brand needs to communicate the concept immediately. Someone encountering a poster, social media advertisement or website should understand that this is related to books and storytelling, while also recognising that it offers an immersive digital experience.
A major strategic challenge is balancing technology and literature. If the identity becomes too technological, the event could look like a gaming convention or software launch. If it becomes too traditional, audiences may not understand what makes the event different. The visual language should therefore combine recognisable literary cues with unexpected digital and spatial elements.
The identity should also be scalable. NOVA Events intends to develop future editions using new genres, authors and virtual environments. The brand system should therefore allow individual "worlds" to have their own visual expression while remaining recognisably part of The Infinite Library.
The launch campaign should create a sense of mystery before revealing the full experience. Early communications could tease doors, shelves, pages, symbols and fragments of fictional worlds before gradually revealing what lies inside.
16. BudgetEstimated overall design budget: £18,000–£25,000 GBP
The budget should cover:
-
Event logo and identity development

-
Digital campaign assets
-
Website landing-page design
-

The budget excludes VR software development, 3D environment programming, event platform development, paid advertising spend, physical event production and third-party licensing fees.
SECTION 2 — DESIGN OVERVIEW 1. ObjectiveThe objective is to create a distinctive, flexible and premium visual identity for The Infinite Library that communicates the relationship between literature, imagination and virtual reality. The identity should generate curiosity, differentiate the event from conventional literary festivals and create a coherent visual system that works across physical, digital and immersive environments. The final design should make the event feel like an established cultural experience rather than a technology demonstration.
2. Distribution / Placement ContextThe identity will appear across a wide range of physical and digital touchpoints before, during and after the event. Physical applications will include tickets, flyers, leaflets, posters, outdoor advertising, event signage, staff passes, lanyards, invitations and promotional merchandise. Digital applications will include the website landing page, email campaigns, social media, digital advertising, event registration screens and presentation graphics. Within the VR environment, the identity will appear on virtual posters, signs, navigation systems, world entrances, information points, author spaces and interactive objects. The system therefore needs to work equally well at billboard scale, on a mobile screen and within a 3D virtual environment.
3. Impact / Emotional ResponseThe design should create an immediate sense of curiosity and wonder. Audiences should feel as though they have discovered something mysterious that they want to explore further. The visual identity should suggest that there is a hidden world behind the ordinary idea of a book or library. At the same time, the design should feel sophisticated and trustworthy enough to appeal to authors, publishers and cultural partners. The intended emotional journey is intrigue → curiosity → discovery → immersion.

NOVA Events currently has an established corporate identity, but The Infinite Library is intended to operate as a distinct event brand. The NOVA Events logo should appear where appropriate as the event organiser, but it should not dominate the event identity. No existing visual identity exists for The Infinite Library. The project therefore offers significant creative freedom to establish a new logo, colour system, typography, imagery style and graphic language from the ground up. Existing NOVA brand guidelines will be supplied separately to ensure appropriate use of the parent company's identity.
7. Key Design Considerations-
The identity must work in both 2D and 3D environments.
-
The logo must remain recognisable at small digital sizes.
-
The visual system should accommodate multiple literary genres.
-
Individual virtual worlds may require their own graphic sub-identities.
-
Designs must work in both landscape and portrait formats.
-
Social assets should be adaptable to multiple platforms.
-
Artwork should be supplied in editable master formats where appropriate.
-
Print artwork should be prepared to professional print specifications.
-
Digital artwork should be optimised for screen use.
-
Typography should remain legible within the VR environment.
-
Wayfinding must prioritise clarity over decoration.
-
The system should allow future annual editions to evolve without requiring a complete rebrand.
-
Digital designs should aim to meet relevant WCAG accessibility principles.
-
Important information must maintain sufficient colour contrast.
-
Small body text should remain readable on mobile devices.
-
Typography should avoid unnecessary decorative fonts for essential information.
-
Navigation within the virtual environment must be visually clear.
-
Colour should not be the only method used to communicate important information.
-
Licensed fonts and imagery must be properly cleared for commercial use.
-
Any third-party artwork, author photography or book-cover imagery must have appropriate permissions.
-
Author names, publisher logos and partner logos must follow supplied usage guidelines.
-
Ticketing and event information must include any legally required terms and conditions.
-
Accessibility considerations should account for audiences who may experience motion sensitivity or visual difficulties within VR.
The completed identity should establish The Infinite Library as a premium, recognisable and culturally relevant immersive event. It should create a strong first impression, communicate the event concept quickly and provide NOVA Events with a flexible design system that can be applied consistently across hundreds of potential touchpoints. The identity should be memorable enough to support organic recognition while remaining flexible enough to represent science fiction, mystery, fantasy, literary fiction and other genres without becoming visually fragmented.
10. How Will Success Be Measured?Success will be measured through a combination of audience response, campaign performance and brand recognition. NOVA will monitor website traffic, ticket registrations, social media engagement, event enquiries and campaign click-through rates during the launch period. Qualitative feedback will also be collected from attendees, authors and partners. Before launch, the proposed identity will be tested with a small group representing the primary audience to determine whether they associate it with books, exploration, technology and immersive experiences. The identity will be considered successful if audiences can recognise the event across different touchpoints and understand its core proposition without requiring extensive explanation.

Organised asset library
The identity should be developed with the understanding that The Infinite Library is intended to become more than a single event. NOVA Events sees the first edition as the beginning of a potentially recurring cultural platform. The design should therefore avoid visual trends that may quickly become dated and instead establish a recognisable conceptual system that can evolve over time.
The idea of the "book as a portal" is an important conceptual starting point, but the final identity does not necessarily need to depict an open book, bookshelf or page literally. NOVA would prefer a more intelligent interpretation of the concept if one can be developed. Abstract representations of portals, thresholds, dimensions, pages, fragments of text, navigation systems or architectural spaces are all potential areas for exploration.
The event will contain several different fictional and literary worlds. These environments may vary dramatically in tone, from dark mystery settings to colourful fantasy landscapes and futuristic science-fiction worlds. The master identity therefore needs to act as a visual framework that can contain these differences without losing cohesion.
The client is particularly interested in creating moments of discovery throughout the campaign. Rather than explaining everything immediately, certain communications could reveal fragments of the event and encourage audiences to investigate further. The design should make people feel as though they are discovering a hidden library rather than simply being advertised a virtual event.
The final identity should feel premium, intelligent and culturally credible, but it should not become too serious. There should still be an element of playfulness and adventure that communicates the excitement of stepping into another world.
NOVA Events is open to experimental typography, unusual compositions, mixed-media imagery and digital effects where they serve the concept. However, every visual decision should have a clear purpose and should ultimately support the central idea:
A library where every book is a world, and every world is waiting to be explored.
