Here Comes The Rooster (Early Bird Project)
Why I want to wake up early? First of all, for practical reasons. My balance of creativity, work, time with loved ones, and happiness fits way better into an early bird style schedule. Like Casey Nesitat:
Behnd this practical reason, there's a "why". I have goals, and waking up tired and groggy is not helping me at all. I am creating an online bussiness, and shifting my career as an artist more into the filmmaking and music production (I work more into the graphic design area right now. And I need some extra time to fir exercise into my day, too.
Wake up time. Current wake time: Somewhere between 2 AM and before the sun goes up. Goal waking time: 5 AM ish...
Update me on your progress as you implement what you have learn. COMING SOON.
DAY ONE: October 1, 2019.
UPDATE:
DAY 8: October 8, 2019
Going well so far!
The one minute a day approach was not for me, so I decided to go right to waking up early. No more excuses.
My goal was to be like Casey Nesitat in this video, because I make creative work too, that involes from lots of hours editing, meetings, work on location. And I have a rock band to, so there's rehearsals, recordings, gigs...
Weekdays I've been get up between 5:15 and 6:00 AM. On the weekend I get up around 8:30.
I’ll tryo to wake up same time every day, tho.
I installed Loud Alarm Clock in my Android phone:
It comes with loud, horrible noises. I let the mobile connected to a loud speaker, too.
Anyways, I have expertise in sleepwalking to wherever I put the phone, turn off the alarm and go back to sleep, so I usually hear the second alarm, which I set up with Jocko Willink's Wake Up, Pt. 2.
My workday in steroids.
I am a freelancer and mostly work at home, except when I am outside creating content. Waking up early have helped me to get more things done. I get up and start working right away in the most urgent tasks of the day. No phone calls, all is quiet. The sun is not up yet. I pause my work around 8:00 to a morning routine:
- Wim Hof Method breathing
- Meditation
- Exercise (HiiT, yoga or both, quick 5 or 10 min routines)
- Cold shower
I don’t make breakfast because I practice intermittent fasting. I am trying plant based diet too.
I go right back to work at 9:00 or go out if I have something to do (I live at walking distance of pretty much everywhere I have to go, so I can schedule an hour to get it done).
At 10:00 AM I make myself available for clients, so it is time for meetings, consulting sessions, brainstormings, etc. and more office work inbetween.
I have lunch around 12:00 to 1:00 PM, and use the afternoons for more work at home or schedule video/photo shoots for that block of time.
Usually in the afternoon I was so tired I had to take a nap, drink a lot of caffeine, and my creativity and mood went down. Now I feel energized, happy, and with the satisfaction of already achieved a lot of shit in my day.
I decided to get tired AF, so I can go to bed and actually fall sleep. So if the day was easy, I add some more exercise or activities at the end of the day. I meditate right after go to bed too.
On the weekend I felt wasted by the afternoon. Those extra two hours of sleep didn't work on me. I even missed a event with my girlfriend on sunday because I took a "quick nap" that extended for two hours.
