Creativity boost

Creativity boost - student project

I was SUPER excited to give a try to Shelley's second class and I was certainly not disappointed. This class made me discover new side of my creativity.

I am usually very shy and apprehensive at mixing media but what a great introduction to it.

Project 1

I did not have a buddy so non dominant hand it was for me.

First project was maybe the hardest to let go and to not judge myself with what I was creating.

Here is the result

I am still unsure which way to hold it and if I actually like it. I think it makes me mostly proud that I made something completely different than what I do and out of my comfort zone.

Project 2

Second project was probably my favourite! At first I was really excited to use glittery watercolours and see if I could maybe spot a few mermaid here and there.

Looking at my palette, I decided to go for the colours I would have never go for.

No mermaid in sight but peaceful little otters:

Project 3

This one I really did not know where to begin with my black pen once the colours were put on the page. I added a few eyes and legs and then I could see it: a space seen with mini robots and flying rockets! What?

Final Project

For the final project, I really wished I had a buddy. Drawing with non dominant hand was great however, it does ruin a little bit the surprise of looking at  the colours for the first time and listen to your first impressions of what you are going to make out of it.

I ended up with a sea turtles on one side and galaxy turtles on the other.

My final thoughts

What I appreciated the most with this class is how it made me feel very relax about my art. Everything was just having fun, playing with colours and following my senses without trying to reach a certain goal or a certain artistic perfection.

Thank you Shelley for another fabulous class! :)

Highly recommended for anyone just looking to discover other side of their creativity and for anyone who is just beginning and not very confident with their art.
