We're in a drought here in California, so I wanted to create a sign that reminds people to conserve water. Below is my "intention triangle" that specifies the sign, it’s location, and finally it’s intention.

I wanted to create a pictogram that communicated drought in a blink of an eye, so I started the exploration by doing several sketches.

I decided the sketch in the lower right corner was the strongest so I created a higher fidelity sketch to work out the proportions.

Next, I re-created the design in Illustrator.

Finally, I installed the sign in our office bathroom where it reminds me everyday to use as little water as possible!
