Boundaries and Saying No

Boundaries and Saying No - student project

Thank you for this class and resources! I am starting out as a graphic design freelancer, and I feel that branding might be my best fit as I enjoy helping and creating peoples' voices for them to express themselves rather personally or professionally. However, until I sort out the legal part, I have decided to remain closed to work at the moment. I appreciate you getting me one step closer in confidence to change that soon!

My Site: https://icyworldsdesign.wordpress.com/

And on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/elaya_ice/

Here are my examples:

Boundary Statement:

Absolutely Not. - I do volunteer and charity work, but I want to make a living as an artist, as I have had a number of jobs that have either left me overworked, overstepped my boundaries, and/or tasks and responsibilities I do not genuinely enjoy.

*Should I become more financially stable I will be sure to revisit the Boundary Document you shared, Thank you!

Saying No Message:

 Dear Client’s Name,

Positive statement:

Thank you for your interest in my work, and I am glad that it brings you some joy and inspiration as that is the intent behind all my art.

Refusal:

However, I am not open to unpaid work, my consultation fee is $$ (TBA) and depending on the amount of work requested and timeline the final amount may vary.

Positive statement and leave door open:

I do appreciate your recognition of my work and when you are able to have a budget for the commission, I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely, Elinor Skinner/Elaya Ice (this is my artist pen name)
