1. Welcome to the Class: During winters, have you observed the beautiful morning sky? It's a combination of a beautiful yellow and blue color. I'm personally not a morning person, but I love to witness the sunrise and sunset. In this class, we are going to paint a beautiful winter morning sunrise, using the medium of gouache colors, using easy and simple painting techniques. Hey, everybody. Myself, RuwgPatel. I'm a self taught, independent artist and an interior designer by profession. I personally love to explore different art forms and styles and not stick to one particular thing. So if you are joining me, you'll find a variety of classes that I create. We're going to start by understanding all the three class projects in detail. We are also going to talk about all the art supplies that you will need for the entire class. The medium is going to be gouache, which gives you a beautiful matte finish. You're going to learn how you can place your coaster onto your desk surface so that it will not move while you're painting. You can also take up the projects on a watercolor paper as well. We're going to start by creating a beautiful morning sky. And using easy brush techniques, we are going to paint some beautiful abstract clouds. You're going to create a snowy effect in the landscape area as well, and some amazing saluts like pine trees, a little fence, a snowy mountain, et cetera. At the end, we are going to paint a beautiful sun and complete all the three coasters. Using basic painting techniques and combining minimal elements together, you're going to form these three beautiful coasters. In case you're new to guash colors, the class is absolutely suited for you to explore and experiment. No need to worry about the output, enjoy the process of creating. The class is absolutely suited for beginners and also intermediate and advanced level artists can try it. So without any delay, grab your art supplies and join me on this creative journey. 2. Details About the Class Project: Hey, everybody. So before we start with the class, let us talk about all the class projects that we are going to create. These are basically three coasters that is going to have a beautiful scenery in it based on winter morning sunrise. So the first coaster, as you can observe, it's having a beautiful gradient sky in which near the horizon line you can observe a beautiful yellow color, and it moves towards the blue. There are these beautiful silouts of trees as you can observe, and there is going to be a nice, snowy landscape. This particular painting I have named as the morning trees. And it is very easy and simple to create. Then comes the second coaster, which I have named as snowy Mountain. You can observe a beautiful gradient sky, some amazing abstract clouds, a nice snowy mountain with a beautiful, snowy texture. There is going to be a nice, snowy landscape and a beautiful fence element that I have added to complete the entire scenery. It's a dense morning sunrise with beautiful color scheme and minimal elements. Then comes the last painting, which I have named as pine trees in which we have these beautiful pine trees silos. There is going to be a nice shade of yellow and blue together with some abstract clouds in the sky area. There is going to be a nice, snowy landscape with a fence element, and at the end, we are going to paint a beautiful sun. Again, combining minimal elements together, we are going to form this beautiful painting. So these are the three class projects based on morning sunrise using the medium of gouache colors. In case you want to paint the entire painting on a watercolor paper, it is completely fine. You can still take up the class projects. Now let us move towards the next part. 3. Art Supplies: Hey, everybody. Now let us talk about all the art supplies that you will need for the entire class. I have placed all the art supplies in a systematic manner. Now let me give you the details. So the first art supply is a simple container that you can observe is already having a nice blue colored water. But of course, we are going to take some clear water. To take it while we are painting and clean our brushes as well. You can take any simple container and fill it with water. Then the next art supply is a simple color palette, as you can observe. Just make sure that your color palette is having enough space to take out multiple colors in it and mix them well. It is important for your color palette to have enough space in it. Then let us talk about the most important art supply, which is the brushes that we are going to use. There are going to be basically three brushes that we are going to use. The first one is a simple flat brush of size seven. Then the next brush is a round brush, which is basically a detailing brush as well of size four. Then the last one is, again, a round brush of size zero. We generally use round brushes to add minute details. So these are the three brushes that you will need. Then I have a simple pencil to draw basic sketch before we start painting. Then next up, I have a simple tissue paper. It is always good to take a tissue paper side by while you're painting to remove excess amount of color and water from your brush. Now let us talk about all the gouache colors that you will need. No need to worry about the brand. You can go for any good alternative. So the first one is yellow. Then we have purple, cobal blue, serleine blue, white and black. So these are the six basic watch colors that you will need. You can go for any good alternative as well. Then the next art supply is a simple masking tape. It's basically a simple paper tape only. You're going to use this masking tape to place on the backside of the coaster and place it onto the desk so that the coaster will not move while you're painting. These are the square coasters on which we are going to create the class project. It's basically 4 " by 4 ". Let me show you the class project as well. So on this, we are going to paint. But in case you do not want to create the class project on a coaster, you can create the entire project on a watercolor paper as well. So if you're missing out on a coaster, you can use a simple watercolor paper. Let me give you the details of that as well. These are A six size watercolor paper, 200 GSM. So you can take the entire class on a watercolor paper as well. So no need to worry in case you are missing out on a coaster. It is completely your choice on which you want to create the entire painting. So these are all the art supplies that you will need for the entire class. No need to worry at all. In case you are missing out on any particular art supply, you'll find it very easily in any nearby local art store, or you can go for any other good alternative, as well. Now, let us move towards the next part. 4. Lets Place the Coaster: Hey, everybody. Now let us place the coaster onto the desk surface. So here I have my square coaster of size 4 " by 4 ". So the reason behind placing the coaster on the desk surface in a good manner is so that the coaster will not move while you are painting. I'll be using a simple masking tape. It's basically a paper tape only. Take a small piece of the masking tape. Now we're going to convert it into a double sided tape, simply flip it over and keep the sticky part on both the sides. Now simply place the piece on one corner of the coaster. Similarly, take another piece of the masking tape and repeat the same step. Now, this time, I'm going to place the piece on another corner of the coaster. Use your fingers to place the piece in a good manner, apply some pressure. Now simply flip the coaster and place it onto your desk surface. Use your fingers or thumb to apply some pressure on the coaster. Now, what will happen is that your coaster will not move from the desk surface while you're painting. So it will help you to paint in a comfortable manner. So this technique you can use in case you're painting on a coaster. In case you want to take the class projects on a watercolor paper, what you can do is you can use the same masking tape to apply on the watercolor paper. Let me show you the watercolor paper as well. So these are A six size watercolor papers, 200 GSM. Now, if you want to take the class project on this watercolor paper, what you have to do is you have to apply the masking tape on the borders of the entire paper so that the paper will not move while you're painting. So this is how you can use a simple masking tape to paint in a comfortable manner without letting your surface move while painting. Now let us move towards the next part. 5. Painting 1 - Morning Trees: Hey, everybody. You're most welcome to the first painting that I have named as morning trees. So I'll be starting with a simple pencil. We are going to create an irregular line, as you can observe, which basically separates the sky area and the landscape area. You can add few more random lines to create some depth in the entire landscape. So we only need these pencil lines to differentiate the sky area and the landscape. Now I'll be using a little bit of medium yellow gouache color. Take a little bit of color in your color palette. Now, just above the horizon line, we are going to apply this beautiful solid yellow color. I'll be using my flat brush of size seven. Now add a little bit of water in the color and make a good composition of color and water together. Try to have less amount of water and more color so that you get a nice solid matte finish. Now you can observe the way I'm using my flat brush to apply just above the horizon line. No need to hurry at all. You have to be a little bit careful just about the horizon line. Make sure that your brush do not move inside the landscape area. Now slowly, you can use the entire surface of your brush to apply the color. We are not going to cover the entire sky area with solid yellow color. We are just applying it on a certain portion. So no need to hurry at all. Try to paint with a lot of patience. I'll be taking a little bit of solid white color in the color palette to make the yellow color look a little bit more vibrant. No need to hurry at all, take a little bit of solid white colour. Apply it just above the yellow color that we have applied. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get. Now I will completely clean my brush in water and dab it onto the tissue paper, take some good amount of white color again and apply it on the above portion. Be a little bit careful near the horizon line. You can use the tip of your flat brush. Now slowly, you can blend both the colors together. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get. In case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can definitely take some more color from the color palette. Now, in order to create the yellow color look a little bit more vibrant, I'll be taking some more yellow in the color palette add less amount of water in it, and just apply another coat so that you get a beautiful yellow color just above the horizon line. Now you can observe that we have added a nice shade of yellow color, which basically represents the morning sunrise just above the horizon line. Now, we are going to take the next color. So simply just clean your flat brush in water and dab it onto the tissue paper. I'll be taking the next color which is going to be bal blue. Take a little bit of colour in the color palette. Now we are going to apply bal blue in the remaining portion of the entire sky area. Now mix the color well, take a little bit of water to loosen the color up, and start applying these horizontal strokes from the topmost portion, slowly move towards the bottom area. Now, once you reach towards the white area that we have applied just above the yellow color, keep some space there because we are going to blend the colors together. In case you find that your brush is having excess amount of water in it, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper, so that axis amount of water will be removed and you'll have a beautiful solid matte finish color. I'll be taking a little bit of solid white color mixing it with bal blue. You can observe it in the color palette. Now add them in between yellow and bal blue. You'll observe a beautiful sky blue color in a very light saturated amount. Now slowly, you have to blend both the colors together. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get. There's a beautiful yellow color in the bottom portion, and as we move towards the topmost portion, it is having a nice cobal blue color. So this basically creates a nice gradient effect and it represents a beautiful morning sky. In case you want to apply some more bal blue color on the topmost portion, you can definitely take it in the color palette and reapply the strokes on the topmost portion. You can do this if you find that the saturation of the Kobal blue color is a little bit less. Now, if you observe carefully, we have got a beautiful blend of all the colors together. Now, once we are done with the entire sky area, you can observe a beautiful blend between both the colors. Now, we are going to paint some nice abstract clouds in the sky area as well. I'll be taking some bal blue in my round brush of size four. You just have to take a little bit of bal blue, use the tip of your round brush and apply very less pressure on it. You just have to create these little horizontal strokes combining together in a very random way. There is no specific way of painting the clouds. Also, in case you want to create your own composition of the clouds, it is completely fine. So no need to worry about perfection. Just observe these steps carefully. So I'll be adding these little horizontal strokes in the yellowish portion, as well as it creates a beautiful contrast. So I'm simply using my round brush of size four, and I'm using the tip of the brush to get a nice thin horizontal stroke. You can combine two to three horizontal lines together to form this beautiful cloud. In case you want to make the clouds look a little bit less sharp, what you can do is you can take a little bit of water in it, dab it onto the tissue paper, and reapply the horizontal strokes on it. You will definitely enjoy the entire process of painting these clouds as it is a very random process. Also in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the clouds directly towards your sky area, what you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now let us paint some beautiful white clouds as well. So in white color, I'll be adding a little bit of Kobal blue, which was already there in my color palette. Now just add a little bit of water and start applying these little horizontal strokes in the blue area. Now, this white color basically creates a nice contrast with the Kobal blue color. The steps are absolutely same. You just have to create these little horizontal strokes together, and you have to combine them to form a nice abstract cloud. No need to hurry at all. Take your time, try to paint with a lot of patience. And the thing that you have to keep in mind is try to use the tip of your round brush to get a nice thin horizontal stroke. Try to apply very less pressure and also try to keep your hand very much loose and free while you're painting these beautiful clouds. You'll definitely enjoy the entire process and no need to worry about perfection and painting it in the exact same way. You're free to compose your clouds in your own way. So we are done with the clouds. Now let us paint the landscape area. So I'll be taking a little bit of serleine blue in the color palette. Take a little bit of color and we are going to use our flat brush of size seven again. So add a little bit of water to loosen the color up. Try to have less amount of water and more color. Now, near the horizon line, just use your flat brush in an angular manner and apply it on the outline first. Now slowly, you can apply the color in the remaining portion. You can observe that ceruline blue is very much dark than the bal blue that we have used on the topmost portion. You're going to have a landscape full of snow, so that's why we are applying this serleine blue color in the entire background portion. No need to hurry at all, and make sure that there is no space left on the entire coaster while you're applying the seroleine blue color. You can observe the way I'm moving my flat brush in a horizontal manner to cover the entire surface. Now, this is the base coat that we have applied on the entire background of the landscape area. Now we are going to add a beautiful texture to the entire landscape area, creating a beautiful snow effect. Now, to do that, we are going to use our round brush of size four again. I'll be mixing a little bit of solid white color and Kobal blue together. Now we are going to apply some random strokes. You can observe the way I've created a nice stroke on the left hand portion, and slowly, you have to reapply these strokes, blending it with the serleine blue color. This basically creates a nice depth in the entire landscape area. It makes it look a little bit more realistic as well. And there is no specific way of applying these random strokes. You can observe the way I'm just adding these little thin strokes in a very random way only. You just have to blend it with the background color since the background color is still wet. And the reason behind applying these random stroke is that your landscape area will look a little bit more realistic and attractive. Since we are replicating snow, that's why I'm using a white color. I have added a little bit of cobal blue in it, as you can observe in the color palette. In case you want to showcase the entire landscape in a green manner, you can go for a green color as well. So you're free to explore and experiment. So now we have created some nice depth in the entire landscape area. I'll be using my flat brush, clean it in water, dab it onto the tissue paper. Now simply observe the movement of my flat brush the way I'm using it. You can hold the flat brush in an angle and simply reapply it on the white strokes that we have applied to blend the color with the background color. So it will decrease the saturation of these strokes. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a careful manner. So now if you observe carefully, we are done with the entire landscape area. You can observe the way we have created a nice snowy texture. Now what I'm going to do is that I'm going to take a little bit more saturated solid white color from the color palette. You just have to take a little bit of water, add it into the color palette. We are already having some color in it. Now using our round brush of size four, we are going to add a nice top layer to the entire snowy texture. This will increase a nice contrast with the entire landscape area, and it will look a little bit more attractive. You can carefully observe the way I'm moving my round brush. You just have to use the tip of your round brush carefully. We are not going to apply it on the entire surface, just the topmost portion. While you're using your round brush, one thing that you can keep in your mind is that whenever you want to get a nice thin stroke, try to use the tip of your round brush and apply very less pressure on your brush. Try to keep your hand very much loose and free whenever you're painting in a very smaller portion. This will help you to get a nice stroke and improvise your brush techniques as well. Now, similarly, we'll be adding these thin strokes on the bottom portion of the landscape, as well. Also, one thing that you have to take care is that no need to worry about perfection. If you observe carefully, I'm randomly applying these strokes. So it is not at all compulsory for you to paint in the exact same way. You can have a nice texture according to your convenience, as well. Now I'll be taking some serleine blue from the color palette, add a little bit of water, and we're using our same round brush of size four. To create some more depth, I'm just going to add serleine blue strokes in between the white strokes that we have created. It basically creates a nice shadow effect, also, and it enhances the entire snowy texture. The technique is absolutely same. You just have to use the tip of your round brush, apply very less pressure on it, and try to create these little strokes. So we are done with the entire landscape area. Now I'll be taking some solid black color in the color palette and we are going to paint some beautiful trees just above the horizon line. So these trees are going to be a very beautiful element in the entire painting, and we're also going to paint some bushes on the landscape area. So I have taken some solid black colour in the color palette, and we are going to use our round brush of size four, add a little bit of water in black color, not in a very excess amount, try to have less amount of water and more color so that you get a highly saturated black color. Now, it's a very interesting technique to paint bushes of the entire tree. You just have to carefully observe the movement of my round brush. You just have to use the tip of your round brush and create these little strokes in case you want to create the outline of the entire tree first, creating these little strokes together, and fill in solid black color inside, it is completely fine, or else you can just create these little bushes together. So what I'm doing is that I'm trying to create these little strokes, combining together to form a nice bushy outline, and then you have to fill in solid black color in the inner portion. There is no specific way or a particular manner in which I'm trying to paint the entire tree. It's just a very random process that you have to enjoy doing. In case you want to play with the composition and size of the tree, it is completely fine. So no need to worry about painting it in the exact same way. So if you observe carefully, I have created a nice, huge bush on the left hand portion. Similarly, I'm going to create some little bushes on the right hand side as well. This particular brush technique helps you a lot to paint in a very smaller portion and to create these little elements. If you observe carefully, you just have to use the tip of your round brush and apply very less pressure on it. In case you are not that much confident enough to paint the trees directly towards your final painting and you do not want to spoil your background, what you can do is you can practice painting the out of the entire tree on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. So painting these little bushes, combining together, we have formed a nice foliage of the entire tree. Now using the same round brush of size four, I'll be creating the branches. It's a very satisfying process. You just have to create these little thin strokes, combining together and just attach it with one tree trunk on the bottom. So you just have to take these little branches from the entire bush. You can be a little bit careful while you're adding these little strokes. Just try to apply very less pressure on your brush, and your entire tree will be ready. So I have just taken these little branches from the bushes and combined it with one single tree trunk. You will definitely enjoy the entire process of painting a silo of an entire tree because you are free to explore and experiment with the shape and size of the entire tree. Now, similarly, we'll be adding one more tree, which is going to have a different size and shape, and I'm going to add it on the left hand portion. You are free to explore. You can decide the position according to your convenience as well. So the steps and method is absolutely same. You can just follow and observe the brushstrokes carefully. So we are done with the second tree as well. Now I'm going to add a little bush on the horizon line. So you just have to take some more black color from the color palette, add these little strokes just above the horizon line. So I'm just going to randomly add few bushes to make the entire landscape look a little bit more attractive. So again, it's a very simple and easy technique. You just have to paint these little strokes combining together to form a nice bushy element. So these are basically shrubs on the topmost portion of the entire horizon line. You can also observe a beautiful contrast between the yellowish shade and the salts that we have painted. Now I'll be using my round brush of size zero, which is even smaller than the round brush of size four, and I have taken some solid white color in it. Just simply paint a circular shape on the yellowish shade that we have created in the background. So it's the sun that we have painted, and you have to be very much careful while you are painting a little circular shape using your round brush of size zero. No need to hurry at all, try to paint it with a lot of patience. Using the same round brush of size zero, you can add few little strokes on the snowy landscape that we have created on the bottom portion as well. Again, no need to hurry at all. Use the tip of your round brush, apply very less pressure on it, and try to get these little thin strokes using solid white color. You can observe the way the sun is also creating a beautiful contrast with the background color. So we have almost finished the entire painting in the landscape area, and we are done with the entire coaster. So let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully using minimal elements and combining them together, we have formed this beautiful winter sunrise painting, which I have named as morning trees. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular painting and got to learn something new. Now let us move towards the next painting. 6. Painting 2 - Snowy Mountains: Hey, everybody. You're most welcome to the second painting, which I have named as Snowy Mountain. So let us start by creating a basic sketch. I'm starting with the horizon line using a pencil, which basically separates the sky area and the landscape. There is going to be a nice mountain in between, so you just have to create a small mountain. And this is the entire basic sketch that you will require. Now this particular morning sunrise is going to be dark, so I'll be taking a different shade, which is going to be purple. I'll take a little bit of purple in the color palette. And this time, we are going to have a nice purple shade just above the horizon line. So I've taken a little bit of purple wash color in the color palette, and we are going to use our flat brush of size seven. Take your brush and mix the color well in the color palette try to have less amount of water and more color, and just simply apply the color just above the mountain and the horizon line. It is okay if your flat brush moves a little bit inside the mountain or the horizon line. Since the mountain is going to be solid black, it is completely fine. You can observe the way I'm moving my brush in a horizontal manner. There is going to be a little shade of purple. The remaining portion is going to be with cobal blue, so we are not going to apply purple on the entire portion. In case you find that the saturation of the purple color is a little bit less, then you can just dab your brush onto the tissue paper so that excess amount of water will be removed, and you'll get a highly saturated color. Take some more color from the color palette if you want to get a nice thick matte finish of purple color. Now, we want to have a beautiful cobal blue shade on the topmost portion. So I'll be taking a little bit of cobal blue in the color palette. Take a little bit of water and mix the colors well. But try to clean your brush first in water because it is already having some purple in it. Now I've taken some cobal blue, start applying it from the topmost portion. No need to hurry at all, slowly move towards the bottom area. If you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, try to take some more color from the color palette Leave a little bit space between the purple color and the cobal blue color that we have applied. Now if you observe, there is a line of separation between both the colors to get a beautiful blend, what we have to do is take a little bit of white, add a little bit of water in it, and apply the horizontal strokes between both the colors. You'll observe that the colors will blend together in a very beautiful manner. You'll get a nice gradient effect. In case you find that there is a little bit of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that it will get completely dry. No need to hurry at all. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get between both the colors. Now you can observe that we have got a nice gradient effect in the entire morning sky, starting from the Kobal blue, and we have a light shade of purple in the bottom portion, just above the horizon line. Now, we are going to create some abstract clouds in the sky area. So I'll be using my round brush of size four, add a little bit of water, take some white and Kobal blue together. Now slowly start adding these little horizontal strokes combining together to form a nice cluster of clouds in the sky area. No need to hurry at all. Observe the movement of my round brush. It's basically a round brush of size four, and there is no specific way of painting the cloud. It's a very random and natural process. So you're free to explore and experiment. You can decide the position of the clouds according to your convenience. One thing that you can keep in mind is to get a nice brush stroke, what you have to do is that try to use the tip of your round brush and apply very less pressure on it. This is how you can get a nice thin stroke. Now you can observe that we have created these sharp horizontal strokes in the ski area. Now, in order to make these strokes look a little bit subtle and a little bit less saturated, just clean your brush in water, have a little bit of water in it, and reapply the horizontal strokes. You will observe that these strokes will get a nice blend with the background color, and it will decrease the sharpness of these strokes as well. Clouds generally are a very natural element in the sky area, so there is no specific way of painting them. It's a very random and natural process. So no need to worry about perfection and painting it in the exact same way. You are free to explore and experiment. You can decide the position of the clouds. You can play with the shape and size of the clouds as well. So we are done with the entire sky area and the abstract clouds. Now let us paint a beautiful, snowy mountain. So I'll be taking my round brush of size four again. Take some solid black color in your color palette. Make sure that you have less amount of water and more color so that you get a highly saturated black color. Now, the pencil line is a little bit less visible, but it is absolutely fine. You can have a nice organic outline of the entire mountain. Now, once you're done with the outline, you can fill in the entire solid black color in the inner portion. Make sure that you do not move inside the horizon line because it is going to be a different color in the landscape area. You can use the tip of your round brush wherever there is a smaller portion to paint. Now, you can observe that we have painted the entire snowy mountain completely black. There is going to be a beautiful white texture that we are going to give. That's why we have created a solid black color for the entire mountain. Now clean your brush well in water, dab it onto the tissue paper. It's the same round brush of size for. Take a little bit of solid white color from the color palette, try to have less amount of water and more color. Now simply add these little strokes in between the mountain. So it's basically going to create a nice, snowy texture on the entire mountain, and we are going to apply these strokes on the left hand portion. You can observe the way I'm using the tip of my round brush to create these little thin strokes. Similarly, you can add it on the smaller mountain, as well. These strokes are basically added on the left hand side. We're also going to add few more strokes on the right hand side, but it is going to be a little bit less. And this is how we create some noise depth and detail to the entire snowy mountain. No need to hurry at all, take your time and do this particular step. It's a very easy and simple technique. You'll definitely enjoy the entire process. To decrease the saturation of solid white color, you can add a little bit of cobal blue in it and add a little bit of texture on the right hand side as well. This will make the entire mountain look a little bit more aesthetic and attractive, and it's basically creating a nice snowy texture on the entire mountain. A And we are done with the entire snowy mountain. Now let us paint the landscape area. I'll be taking a little bit of Kobal blue in the color palette. Mix it well with water in case you find that there is less amount of color in your color palette. Take some color from the tube. Mix it well with water. Try to have less amount of water and more color. Now simply you can observe the way I'm using my flat brush to apply the solid patch of bal blue in the entire landscape area. No need to hurry at all. Be a little bit careful near the outline. You can use your flat brush in an angle to paint in a careful manner. Initially, we're adding this nice solid cobal blue coat on the entire landscape area, and then we are going to add a beautiful, snowy texture on the entire landscape. So now we are done adding a background color to the entire landscape. Now I'll clean my round brush of size four and just dab it onto the tissue paper. We're going to create a beautiful snowy texture. So take some white colour in the color palette. Take your round brush of size four, add a little bit of water in it in case you want to make the highly saturated white color a little bit less. You can add a little bit of cobal blue in it as well. Now, you just have to randomly apply these strokes on the landscape area. The background color is still wet, so you'll be able to blend the strokes as well. The best part about gouache colors is that even if the background color is dry, you can regenerate the paint by adding a little bit of water. Now, if you observe carefully, I'm using the tip of my round brush to create these beautiful strokes, which basically creates some nice, depth and dimension in the entire landscape area. It makes it look a little bit more attractive and aesthetic. So you just have to add these strokes randomly. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way. You're free to compose the entire strokes as well. In case you find that there is excess amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that excess amount of water will be removed and you'll get a nice dry brush. In case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, feel free to take some more color from the color palette. So you can observe that we have added few strokes to create some nice dimension in the entire landscape area. Similarly, you can take some more color to add it on the bottom portion as well. Also, when you are going to move your brush onto the surface, when there is already a background color being applied, you'll observe that you are going to blend the colors in a very nice way. This is going to happen when you're going to do it practically. So no need to worry about blending the colors together and getting a nice dimension in the entire landscape. Now I'll be taking some serlein blue to get some nice darker color in the landscape area. I'm using the same round brush of size four, add a little bit of water and simply dab your brush onto the tissue paper. Now, in between the white strokes, you can add a nice stroke of serlein blue to create some nice depth and detail. It basically also creates a shadow effect, as well. So you can observe that it is a little bit darker than the background color because the background color is bal blue, and right now I'm using serlein blue. No need to hurry at all, take your time, use the tip of your round brush carefully. And whenever you're applying these little thin strokes, always try to keep your hand very much loose and free. No need to make it stiff. Now, let us add a beautiful element in the landscape area, which is going to be a nice fence, which creates some beautiful aesthetic to the entire painting. So I'll be using my round brush of size four again. Take some solid black color from the color palette, add a little bit of water in it to lose in the color. Now, simply create these vertical lines just above the landscape area. You can have variation in the height of the vertical lines. It creates a beautiful dynamics in the entire landscape area. Now, once you are done with the vertical lines, just simply connect all the vertical lines with a single horizontal line. You can add some depth on the bottom portion as well. While you are painting in a very thin stroke, always make sure that you use the tip of your round brrush and apply very less pressure on it. To create some nice shadow effect, I'm using the same black color, and I'm adding these little horizontal strokes near the landscape area as well. Need to hurry at all, take your time and apply these strokes carefully. This will make your painting look very much attractive. You can already observe that using minimal elements, we have already created a beautiful morning sunrise scene, and there is a little element left, which is a beautiful sun in the sky area. So I'll be using my round brush of size zero. Take a little bit of water and mix the colors well. Try to have less amount of water and more color so that you get a nice solid white color. Now simply paint a circular shape in the sky area. No need to hurry at all. Just use the tip of your brush and apply very less pressure on it. And we are done with the sun. So we are done with the entire coaster. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular painting and got to learn something new. Let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. Again, using minimal elements and combining them together, we have formed this beautiful morning sunrise. Feel free to explore and experiment with the entire scenery and enjoy the process of painting. Now let us move towards the next painting. 7. Painting 3 - Pine Trees: Hey, everybody. You are most welcome to the third painting, which I have named as pine trees. So let us start with the basic sketch. I'm using a simple pencil to draw a horizon line, which basically separates the sky area and the landscape. You can have a nice variation in the entire horizon line. As you can observe, I have kept it a little bit higher on the left hand side and a little bit lower on the right hand side. Now, this is the entire basic sketch that you will require. I'll be using my flat brush of size seven. We are going to take some good amount of yellow color in the color palette, and we're going to have a nice shade of yellow just above the horizon line. So take some good amount of color, try to have less amount of water and more amount of color, and simply apply it above the horizon line. You can observe the way I'm using my flat brush in an angle to apply it near the horizon line, and then you can use the entire surface of the brush to apply it in this horizontal manner. No need to hurry at all, apply the color well and make sure that you do not leave any space on the entire coaster. To get a nice thick yellow color, you can reapply the strokes as well. In case you find that there is excess amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper. Now, simply, I'll be adding a little bit of white. You can observe that it gets a little bit less saturated as you apply white color in the entire portion. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend of the colors you'll get. Now on the topmost portion, we are going to apply bal blue. I'll be taking a little bit of bal blue in the color palette. Add a little bit of water. But before that, clean your flat brush because it is already having yellow in it. Now, try to have more amount of color and less water. Start applying it from the topmost portion. Right now, you can observe a lightly saturated bal blue. That is because we have more amount of water in the brush. No need to worry about that. Just take some more color from the color palette. Dab your brush onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now you can clearly observe a line of separation between yellow and cobal blue, but we are going to get a nice blend between both the colors. So for that, you have to clean your flat brush in water, dab it onto the tissue paper, make it a little bit dry, and apply these horizontal strokes between both the colors. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend of the colors you'll get. So right now you can observe a beautiful gradient color in the entire sky area. You can apply a little bit of serlene blue on the topmost portion to make it look a little bit more darker. So this is how we have created a beautiful sunrise in the sky area. I'll be using my round brush of size four to create some abstract clouds in the background, and it's a very interesting process. You just have to take a little bit of bal blue. Now, we are going to apply this particular color near the yellowish shade because the Kobal blue color will create a nice contrast near the yellow shade. So it's a very simple and easy process. You just have to create these little horizontal lines which are combining together to form a beautiful abstract cloud. There is no specific way of applying the brush. You can just randomly make the clouds. So if you observe carefully, there is a beautiful contrast between Kobal blue and the yellowish shade that we have created near the horizon line. Whenever you're using a round brush, what you can take care of is that try to use the tip of your round brush to get these little thin strokes. Try to apply very less pressure on your brush and make your hand very much loose and free. No need to make it very much stiff. So I'm trying to create a few more clouds on the left hand side, as well. It's again, the same process. You just have to combine these little horizontal strokes combining together. So we have added enough amount of clouds just above the horizon line. We can add few more on the center portion. Now in the sky area, we have this dark cobal blue color. To enhance the clouds in that particular portion, we are going to take some solid white color from the color palette. You can decrease the saturation by adding a little bit of bal blue in it. Now, similarly, we are going to add these horizontal strokes in this particular area. Now you can observe that the clouds look really amazing in a dark background. You can add these white strokes near the clouds that we have painted in the bottom portion as well. The technique is absolutely same. Just observe the brush moment. So we are done painting the sky area and these beautiful abstract clouds. Now let us paint the landscape area. So I have taken a little bit of serleine blue in the color palette. I'll be using my flat brush of size seven again, add a little bit of water in it, and simply observe the way I'm using my flat brush in an angle. So I'm using it in an angle near the outline of the entire landscape. You can use the entire surface of the brush on the bottom portion. Try to have less amount of water and more color in case you find that your brush is having excess amount of water in it, simply dab it onto the tissue paper. Now you can observe that using my brush in this horizontal manner, I have applied the entire coaster with this particular serlene blue color, which is the background color for the entire landscape. We're going to create a beautiful snowy texture on this particular surface. So again, I'll be using my round brush of size four. We're going to take some solid white color from the color palette, add a little bit of water in the color, try to have less amount of water and more color. You can add a little bit of serlene blue to decrease the saturation of white color. Now we are going to randomly apply these strokes on the topmost portion to create a nice variation in the entire landscape area. No need to hurry at all. Take your time. There is no specific way of applying this particular stroke. You can randomly apply it. So I'll be blending these strokes with the background color since the background color is still wet. And the best part about gouache color is that you can regenerate the color by adding a little bit of water on the surface. Now I'm going to add few more strokes on the bottom portion as you can observe. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way. It is a very random and natural process, so you're free to explore and experiment. You can observe the way I'm moving my round brush in a very random manner, and I'm trying to blend these strokes with the background color. So it basically creates a nice texture and a snowy effect on the entire landscape. So we have almost added a nice texture on the entire landscape area. In case you want to have a nice, highly saturated white color, try to have less amount of cobal blue in it and make sure that you use less water and more color. On the topmost portion, you can have a little bit of more solid white colour to enhance the entire landscape area. So now the entire landscape looks a little bit more attractive and aesthetic. Let us move towards the next element, which is the pine tree. So we are going to paint the pine tree completely black, which is basically a sellout of the entire tree. So I'm starting with a simple vertical line. I'll be using my round brush of size zero. And the entire process of painting the pine tree is going to be really interesting. Now, you just have to start from the topmost portion, start creating these little strokes. And as you move towards the bottom area, you just have to simply increase the size of the strokes that you're making. You can randomly apply these little strokes, which basically forms the entire foliage of the pine tree. No need to hurry at all. It's a very interesting step. You just have to paint it with a lot of patience. You can observe the way I'm creating these little strokes as I'm moving towards the bottom area. I'm going to increase the size of these strokes as I move towards the bottom part to create the entire structure of the pine tree. In case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. It's a complete solid black color, so try to have less amount of water and more color. In case you find that there is excess amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that excess amount of water will be removed and you'll get a highly saturated black color. In case you're not that much confident enough to paint the pine tree directly towards your final painting and you do not want to spoil your beautiful background, what you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now, as I come near towards the horizon line, I'll just attach the solid black color and make sure that I do not move my brush inside the landscape area. So you can observe how beautiful the entire pine tree is looking. No need to worry about perfection. You can have a nice composition of the entire pine tree. You can play with the shape and size of the pine tree as well. So I'll be adding a little bit of foliage on the bottom portion to make the entire pine tree look a part of the landscape. Again, it's a very simple and easy step. You just have to combine these little strokes, forming together a nice bush just above the horizon line. So I hope that you got an exact idea of how you have to paint the entire pine tree. Now, apart from this huge pine tree, we are going to have a few more pine trees, which is going to be a little bit smaller in size, but the steps are absolutely same. Just simply observe these steps carefully and the way I move my brush. Whenever you're using a detailing brush, which is basically a round brush, always try to keep your hand very much loose and free, and no need to make it stiff. Use the tip of your brush to get these little thin strokes. So we are done painting all the pine trees. Now let us add another beautiful element in the entire landscape. There is going to be this beautiful little fence that I'm going to add on the bottom portion of the landscape. It's a very simple step. You just have to use your roundbush of size zero. Try to create these vertical lines, which is having variation in the height. No need to hurry at all, take your time, apply very less pressure on your brush to get these little thin vertical strokes. Now, once you're done with the vertical strokes, you can add the black color on the bottom portion to make the entire fence look a part of the landscape. Now, we are going to add a horizontal line which is going to combine all the vertical lines together so that the entire fence structure is complete. So we are done with the entire fence element as well. I'll be using the same solid black color to create some nice shadow effect in the entire landscape. So you can add these strokes in between the white strokes. No need to hurry at all, take your time and do this particular step. This will make the entire landscape look a little bit more in depth and detail. I'll be adding few strokes on the left hand side, as well. Now let us paint the sun. I'm going to take some solid white color in my round brush of size zero, take some solid white color, add a little bit of water in it, and simply paint a circular shape just above the horizon line where we have this yellowish shade. No need to hurry at all, try to paint it with a lot of patience. So we are done with the last painting. Let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. Again, we have combined minimal elements together to form this beautiful winter sun rise painting. I hope that you enjoyed the entire painting and got to learn something new. This is the last class project. Now let us move towards the class conclusion. 8. Class Conclusion: The satisfaction that you get after completing any painting when you enjoy the entire process of creating is really amazing. Hey, everybody. So you're most welcome to the class conclusion. I hope that you enjoyed the entire class and got to learn something new and creative. While I was creating this particular class, I made a number of mistakes, and that is something that I always tell my students never to be afraid of making mistakes. It is really great if you maintain an art journal to practice on a regular basis. This basically improvises your sketching, inking, and painting skills. I would be really excited to see all of your class projects into the project gallery, so do not forget to add them into the project gallery. It would be really great if you leave a review for the entire class, as it encourages me a lot and my class can reach many more students like you. At the end, I would like to say, keep learning, keep practicing. Thank you so much for joining the class and happy painting.
