Winter Illustration: Watercolor+Craft

1. Introdution: Hey there, welcome to my winter watercolor class. It is unusual and different from the previous ones. Obviously because it combines a watercolor and craft and secondly the finished illustration will be 100 percent about you, not about me, about you. My offline workshops show that the process from the start to the finish illustration takes approximately three or four hours, three hours of pure creativity. Imagine that. I am doing it. If so, I'm happy. Let's start. 2. Tools: What we need, watercolor, brushes several different sizes, but all of them are quite small. We also need one large brush for wetting the paper. Also sea sponge is good for this purpose and eraser, a pencil, scissors or a stationary cutter. Watercolor paper can be of any quality, even simple and cheap, you can use a large size or small pieces of paper. Also, we need three sheets of paper of the same size. Two of sheets of dense watercolor paper and one sheet of thin paper that is usually used for the printers. Once again, they should be the same size. Also tablet is needed it's not necessarily just convenient, it can be any [inaudible] things. Paper tape, glue, white wash, may be colored pencils. It's also not necessary as well as the gel band for example, but it may be used in this class and paper napkins, of course. I listed a lot of things, in fact, you need everything that you usually draw that is at hand, plus scissors and glue. That's enough. Be sure. 3. Brainstorming: So guys, let's start. A third thing we will do is brainstorm. Sit comfortable maybe and close your eyes and think about your perfect winter. Your ideal winter, such as you're painting your dreams. Remember it. Remember some very good moment that happened in the winter or just dream about your super winter. Don't higher up, just sitting down and think. Take time to yourself and then write down 6, 7, 8, 9 verse of your winter associations. Try to choose not obstruct word. For example, comfort, I want play it, this TT will be better. But it's froze tense snowing for five months of the year, a lot of snow and that's very beautiful. 5. Draft: Let's continue our work. I'm writing down my own rules you are alone, and don't write-off, and though together, listen to music. Done. Look at the list, and think about what points you can easily draw, and then try to do it on film, the draft copy. Feel free to cheer, cross out, draw again. This draft is your helper in the process of inventing. Your task is to come up with the picture for several items. As a result, you will get something like this may be even better. Maybe a few sheets. It's absolutely your deal. 6. Сolor scheme: Next stage, we continue to work with the draft and then think about the colors. Which one do you like? Choose three or four colors that looks good together. Why so few? One of the main mistakes of the beginning artist is to use of all possible colors. A lot of different colors is unprofessional illustration will be better if you define a limited color gamut for yourself. Try different colors, just put them next to each other, choose which ones you like, and then try using the selected colors for your sketches. Again very quickly and easily without details, the task of this stage is to choose those four colors that we will draw. In fact, there are five colors and there are four colors and plus a white background tore of the paper. For example, I don't know which of these green I prefer, I put it on the paper next to each other and look at them and realize that the olive green, I like more. These are my colors, 1,2,3,4 and white, of course. 7. Draw your association: The next step is drawing all the small illustrations. You see my approximate size, let to yours be about the same size. Let the creation of each take 10 or 15 minutes to draw. 8. Background: Now let's postpone our picture for a while, and take those three sheets which we have prepared. Two sheets of watercolor paper, and one thin sheet of paper for a printer. Now we need the sheet of watercolor paper. I attach it to the tablet using paper tape. This convenient, so it's clear that the paper is less deformed when we wet it and secondly, a neat wide frame will be on that finished work. As a tablet, you can use any flat object suitable in size. What is I going to do now? I will make a background for my pictures. I will have a great tone with falling snow. To decide what your background will be, please watch the video to the end to understand how it will be applied. Now, I will carefully wet the sheet. Possible to use a large brush or a sponge for this. I will show both options. Please make sure that the water used is clean. Here, with touch movement, wet the entire sheet. The sponge should be well moistened with water. Squeeze it a little bit and carefully moisten the entire sheet, not forgetting the edges. Make sure that there are no dry patches on the paper. It is convenient to do it by changing the envelope for you. Now, I take the color using a big brush. Try the tone on extra piece of paper whether you are satisfied with the color. I like it, and cover my sheet with paint with such chaotic movements. The paper is wet so the paint beautifuly spreads. Individual strokes gently around each another. In places, I add more water. In places, I put a more intensive tone. You still need to remember that water color becomes paler when dried. By the way, choose the color from your color scheme, the four colors of what you define for the work. Done. The sheet is completely covered with paint, and now I will create the effect of snow. I have snow with illustrations but you can have just the color of the ground or some kind of your own pattern, for example, striped bees, flowered, abstract, turn on your imagination. But remember that we are creating the big ground for our smaller illustrations, not a separate picture. For the snow effect, firstly, I'm splashing the background with clean water. In my previous lesson, I was asked several times how to spray. There is a process in detail. I take a brush and hit it with my index finger. It is important to use a small brush with elastic [inaudible] , not the squirrel. Synthetic Kolinsky will be good. Now with anything but with the paint, I use the white gouache. I add water and make a puddle of wicked paint. Look. When the paint gets on the wet sheet, the stains grow a little and become fluffy. I want to add more [inaudible] so I'll wait till my background is completely dry. You can just leave it to dry and take a break from the work, or use a hair dryer to speed up the process. When the background is dry, I take the white gouache again and add the spray on dry paper. Using a brush with a steel bristle or even a toothbrush, I make small splashes. My background is ready, and I carefully remove the paper tape. Look at the beautiful neat frame left by the paper tape. Leave the background to dry completely and return to the pictures. 9. Craft: Let's return to our painted associations. Prepare the scissors. Now we carefully cut out out each illustration, cut out not along the contour but leaving the place around. Done. Now we need to place our pictures in other sheet of vertical paper in the most good and harmonious way. I think it's good. I take a glue and fix the pictures on the paper. Done. Now, I take the thin paper and put it on top combining the edges. Now I will draw all the contours or the illustrations, but not exactly this size, but 3 to 5 millimeter length there during the term. Some borders are visible while some are both, they can be defined by datch. You can do it on the window and you see, it's very convenient. Please ensure that the edges of the sheet are aligned. Once again, I draw your attention to the fact that the contours are slightly laid, then they're extra advanced. Done. Look, I forgot to glue the little bird. Add it later, it's not a problem. Now I'm cutting out my windows. I do it with scissors, but the ones I prefer to use is stationery cuts. Well, the windows are ready. I put it on my pictures massively and the chair for where that all the interests are clearly visible. Now let's remember about our beautiful snow on the ground. I think you already guessed what I'm going to do there, I will cut out, let's say windows on it. Make defense are going to respond on the ground. For good results, please pay your attention to the interests of the sheets, they should be left out. The windows are within, let's check them. Details: The illustration is almost ready, I just want to add some details. Now, I'll write the word winter and put it on the top of my illustration. You can have some other words of course.
