I will say doing the next video 2. The Supplies: For this class, these are the materials and supplies that we are going to be using during the class. You can take a better look of the materials. I will be doing an overview. So you have an ID. You need watercolor paper. Any type of watercolor paper to have is perfect duties. Watercolors, the perfect color we are going to be talking in the next. Some salt for some effects. You will also need Brushes, Flat and rounds in different sizes. Fine liners also in different sizes. To outline or Painting, do need clean water. For the splashes, do need White paint and a flat brush in a bamboo stick. And you will also need a Mixing Pan, Washi tapes to fix your paper to the surface. You bring in need as well to download the template that I prepared for you. So you can paint Koi Fish in the leaves on your paper. Before we start the class, this is the Template and you can download it in the resources for this class. Down below, you can easily download this template and start transferring them to do Paper. We are going to be doing that together as well. I prepare for three different templates. You can use whichever you want and you will need a pen. Using a watercolor pen to trace my template, I will say do in the next video. 3. The Colors on Display: It is time to pray with the Colors and the cholesterol. We are going to be using. Ivory black or any black, bright rose or pink compost glue or light blue, BDD. And at that query, permanent green or a light green, you can use any brand and you like and play with it. We are going to be activating all the Colors on my mixing palette. And then we are going to be playing with all these Chase and see how they react and how they show themselves in the paper or onto the Paper. I also have here a gray color as well. So we can play a little bit more, but it's optional. You can use any shade that you prefer to mix together. Let's start using our light green and see how they react with water. And this is the color that I worry I will be using for the Water Lilies leaves. And the two main colors are the light green, dark green, or permanent Technique. And Bedelia, who in this case, in this brand, the Colors are called that way. And I am mixing them and seeing how they react. Because when we are going to be Painting in the leaves, we are going to be mixing these two colors. They are looking really nice together. Now, I clean my brush and I'm starting with the Colors of the Koi Fishh. I have this bright rows or pink. And you can see how beautiful bright it is in trying to see how the, it react with more water. And the second color for the Koi Fish is this blue compostable or any light blue you have at hand? I will try this. Payne's gray. This is a really beautiful and I am going to be using these for The Pond because we need some darker spots on the on the water surface. And blue, turquoise. You can mix these together and see how they will react because these two color are going to be mixed in the Pond to create the deepness of the water. And a more mystical Effect, I then add in some grains of salt because this technique helps to bring up Chinese of water surface. It is a really useful and beautiful. Then lastly, going to be testing or out liners, fine liner pens. I have different sizes. You can use any outlining you have, or even you can use wash if you prefer. Because this is for the outline of our leaves and the Koi fishes. And this is to paint the eye, this call the the whiskers of the Fish. And in using a brush pen, this brush pen has these fine, deep and in doing it as well with this part of my brush pen. This is how is it's looking and in lobbying. And I will see you in the next video. 4. Transferring the Template: Time to start drawing or Template, and you can download it in the link for resources for this class below, I have prepared three different templates for you. You can download and transfer it onto watercolor paper, any of these and paint with me. So I will be using the Template, the Haslett to Fishh, symbolizing, staging can balance. You can use any other, any of the three that I share with you in their resources section for this class. And to transfer this Template in using my iPad as a light box. Because it is easier for me. If you have your iPad and you can do the same. But if not, you can use the Technique, Technique, transferring the Template onto your watercolor paper, using the pencil behind the Template and then marking it on to your watercolor paper. I then using a watercolor paints it to transfer the Template to my watercolor paper. You can transfer these with a dual Fine Liner already. Does this up to you. I prefer to do this this way. And after I add all the colors to my Painting, then if I want, I do the outlining. But for this painting, I wouldn't be doing the outline anyways, but I want to do it after. I have there Watercolors to it. When do I transferring templates to watercolor paper, some new ideas, come up. Just take them and you can use it in your final painting. I always forget so many ideas when in transferring the Template that the whole Painting can change. But I will try to keep it as it is right now, so you don't get too confused. But if you get more inspiration, you can do and follow your own creativity. Because this is the most important part in just tracing all the lines. And as you can see, it's super easy using the iPad ASA like a light box because the lines reflect on the Paper and insist easier to look at all the details. And of course is more efficient to use this as it is in almost done with the transferring the Template. And this is how it looks as you can see. When I add the watercolor, all this line will disappear because this is a watercolor painting. That is the whole point using EndNote, a normal pencil. If you are done with your transferring, then I will see you in the next video. 5. Fixing the Paper: Perfect. We have outliner or template, and now we are going to fix or watercolor paper onto a surface. I always use a old guard war, so I don't damage my desk. This little step is very important if you want to create a frame on your paper. So with washi tapes fixing, do make sure that you will get a very crisp and beautiful frame around your painting. This washi tape is very, very light. I don't need to do the technique where I put the washi tape on a towel to make the glue a little softer. But if you have a more stronger tape, then I recommend you to that because it will spare you from damaging the paper when you peel off the tape. I will fix all the four corners are my watercolor paper and have it ready to start adding the colors. The last coordinate. And we are done. Ecs this. So I will see you in the next video. 6. Adding the Watercolor: First Layer: Let's start adding in the fifth legend of watercolor, and we're going to start with the Fishes. I will first use the wet-on-wet technique. So in adding water with my brush, the clean brush. And I will just those songs, basis of the Fish. And when I add the color, you will see it better. And then I will let it dry a little bit and then add a second endothelial layer, as you can see here in adding the pink. And it will run on the water that I added before. This is just to give a better dip on the Colors. And the whole process of painting the Koi Fish is biased steps and bi-layers. When I am finished with the fierce layered on the pink Koi Fish, I will then do the same in the second Fish, which is the blue Fish, adding fears water wet-on-wet technique, and then adding the Watercolor, in this case will be a composer blue or a light blue. As we discussed in the color chart and the colors that we are using in this painting. Remember, you can use different colors. You can use the same colors for the, for the two fishes. Or is up to you than hesitate, is if you want to use, to use your uniqueness, Painting, do Painting. I will let this dry and I will say during the next video 7. Adding Watercolor to the Koi Fishes: The field slider has dry out completely and now with a wet brush in clean water, we're going to be moving in the color that are already there through all the silhouette of our Koi Fish. Because we want to make a very translucent layer on the whole body of Koi Fish. Does is the idea. As you can see, the, we are tracking the already dry watercolor on the Paper. And it is going around the whole silhouette or Koi Fish. And this is the idea. We want to make this second translucent layer. We have our base ready to be Painting later with more colors and the whole details that this Fishh needs tried to respect the lines, meaning and don't go out the silhouette of the Koi Fishh. So you have a very clear silhouette. And now start adding more pigment on the dark guess. But of the Fish. And moving the color always with clean water. This is the part of what is you can add just the big, the size of the Fishh. If you need or just see that to need IT. Team member that we are going to be outlined the whole silhouette of the Fishh. So don't get too worried about if you make a mistake or the color go out. Too much. Keep going. I don't do it Fish or the silhouette of the Koi Fishh with your brush with a little bit more of pigment on it and then add some pigments he hadn't that would just see it will make a beautiful effect. And creating the beautiful pattern that is Fish has on, is on its body size. And the lines Always keeping in mind that do will be outlined in this body later. Now I will let this dry and start painting the second Fish. Doing the same technique, fears with my brush with clean water and just moving my watercolor around. The dry watercolor around the body or the outline, silhouette of the Koi Fish. And looking for a transparent, translucent second layer. Take your time doing this. Don't rush. Because we are going to be applying layers and more layers to create the effect that we're looking for. Some darker pigment and move it around the body that already has water on it. Keeping the lines are the shape of the Fishh. As much as you can. Remember that we are going to be outlining this fish as well. So don't get to worry about some nice shapes or going out with a color from the paper, but try to keep the shape as my first job can. This is the holiday Dia, adding some darker spots here. And you can see how the water clans the color. And it's that Creating a beautiful effect. They the adding darker spot. When it dries. This will become in the pattern of the Fishh because it will elevate the colors that you are using. And we can always add more layers, more water if we see we need it. This is the magic of Watercolors. Now in almost ready here, I hope you do. And I will let this dry completely. And I would say to you in the next video 8. The Background Water Lily Leaves: Let's move on to paint the Water Lilies leaves. Why are fishes are drying out? And we're starting with the darkest getting we have to remember, you can use the same colors or you can just use similar shades that you have in the schedule Will Need then two shades of green, one that can in one lighter. This is VDD and I didn't just making it lighter With Water, Just let in some darker spots. To make the leaf a more realistic. In some way. We are now looking for Christmas here. But making the, this contrast with the Colors make it, the Painting always pop up very much. Add some darker shades of green color. And then with digital brush, damping, damping in Water, go through and move the Watercolor to make it more fluid and more lighter. Then with the secondary and you have in this case, I didn't using the permanent green. I then just filling up the spaces that I have left before. You say that you have too much color, then you can use a paper or a towel and then remove a little bit of that color to make it lighter and then continue your process, your painting process. And then Painting the smallest leaves on this side, starting this time with a lighter color because these are new leaves and the Colors is lighter. And afterwards, I will add then tortious of darker, green. If you're using the same Colors, then go as in doing so, you have the same effect. Then Painting, then the bigger leaf on this side of my painting. The same way is I did with the biggest Water Lily Leaves On the other side, starting with the darker. And then moving it with my brush in water and then adding the tortures of the light green. So you see is this this is a wet on dry technique. Now I didn't the lighter green. You can also add jello if you don't have a lighter green. When using darker green. A more dramatic effect. You can also paint a flower, a water lily flower if you want. In not doing this on this class, but you can do it. If you feel like doing that. That will be very fantastic. So I have only smile, lift the paint. And I will do the same as I did in the previous set of small leaves are starting with the lighter green. Shaping the leaves. And then adding some little touches of my dark is getting in the middle. And then going, I don't want to make these little beautiful pattern. You can look for reference on the Internet for the button often needs. Now I will let this completely dry and I will see you in the next video. 9. Adding Details on the Koi Fishh Body: To add the details to the Fishes I have here, Black and Payne's gray. I will be using black on the Fish and this pain grains I will reducing for the Background when we are Painting Pond. And in using this ink and this is a turquoise you can use to blue as well as it's not a problem. I wanted to just show you how with it the liquid watercolors or ink also works pretty well. I have a paper towel. So let's start. I will be now a starting Painting the Details on the fishes, the Koi Fishes with my wet brush in clean water, in touch in my Fish on some places where the darker spots. And then in adding the black Watercolors to make this pattern on the body of my Fish. If I see the Colors is to clump, cluster in one place, then I will going to move with it, with my paper. And you're going to the same. This is a very FUN Technique. Adding these little black spots on the Fishh. You can use to wash here as well. They do what? You can use a black brush pen, watercolor brush pen. So it runs when to apply water on the Paper. If you use ink, it would not run. So that's why I'm not using ink on this case. In doing the same on my pink Koi Fish. The distinctive black spots on the body. I hope you are seeing how the Painting is evolving. It will be a much more when we paint the Pond and we add the last outlining to the fishes and the Leaves. And they will love it typing. In finishing here, the eyes of the Fishh with the black. And now I will let this dry completely and I will see you in the next video. 10. The Background : The Pond: The bank that Pond, my fishes and leaves out completely, completely dry. And for that, I will be using a Koi ink. Or you can use a turquoise watercolor or a deep blue watercolor. And you can dilute it a little bit Water so you have a more lighter tone or CEJ, because we went to create difference, contrast on the painting on the Pond. Imagine yourself a Pond and to know how it looks odd, you can look on the Internet. I had salt to create beautiful, this beautiful effect with a salt and water color. And I have my Payne's gray for The Pond as well. I will start using my flat brush here. You can use round brushes. You don't have a flat brush or do prefer to work with two round brush. I want to make sure I don't overlap this color onto the Fishh or the lips. This is why I'm using mostly a flat brush. Medium-size is this one applies in the turquoise, first, near the fishes and the leaves. And letting some white spaces, this magical white spaces. And then start adding the darkest color, Mixing with the lighter and the darker color that I'm using is this Payne gray. Because it gives othering effect like a galaxy. I want to create this 3D effect on or Pond for the Koi Fish because they are dancing or Swimming in this Jing Jang balancing energy. And this is one what was I went to create here. And as you can see, the process become very easy. You will be alternating between the darkest, then be the darkest. The liner scholar to choose for your Pond. And going around the whole Background, Creating these Pond Effect. Remember to lift those white space because they are magic when the whole composition that is due will be happy if you left those whitespaces. I think he had in their Mixing the Colors. When I see, I want them to be tardigrades or water. If I want to see them more lighter. I want also the outer line idea of the features. I want them to be lighter in color. This turquoise beautiful maladies by the Koi Fishes. I went to green for them. But in the outlines and the outside of The Pond, I want it to be darker. So that's why I am adding the Payne's gray over there on the coordinates of my painting. It is looking really nice. And you can see that this is very wet. I am using lot of water and when you use a leaky Watercolors, then you have the Lily easy movement with the Colors. As you can see here, it is easier to move when I use the liquid watercolor. As when I use the Pan or dry watercolor, I need to add water to the Pan, to the watercolor pencil. The Colors become more malleable for me to move around the painting. But this is okay, is not a problem. Do just need to use Water. Ask the liquid watercolor already has the water in it, and it is easy to move. Making this contrast, Creating darker and lighter shades, to create a cohesive dancing of Kotler's year ended. Mining the lines of the fishes and the lips. So we don't lose the painting. As such. When we are going to be outlined the fishes and the lips, but keeping them safe. It is better to have a more crisp and Beautiful Painting. This Black or more darker colors resembles the guys that form instead in the Pond. And thus is like the perfect ambiance for the coefficients to live in animals already here. And I will continue and little bit, and I will see you in the next video. 11. The Background: Salty Sparks Technique: Okay, let's add some magic toward Painting. And for that, we need the Painting to have a little bit of water contained in adding some touches with my brush, tampering the Colors. And then when I see it is enough of color and Water. And some places of my painting, I will then proceed to add the salt on those places. And for this technique to work when it needs, the Paper need to be wet but not too wet because then the salt, we will not react. So we expect it. So try to manage the Watercolor composed the painting. And then you will have the most a beautiful technique. I will add the salt and on all those places on the corners and in the middle. And if I see, I need more water than I will use my brush with a little bit of Painting and then put the salt over dead. And then I will let this completely perfectly dry. I will do this overnight. And then when I burn, I take my, my painting again. I will remove the salt and I will see the mighty that happened overnight. I hope you have FUN with this technique. And if you want to learn more about watercolor techniques, you can check out my other class here on skill share, where I describe every other Technique, fantastic Techniques To use with watercolor. I will link that on the description for this class. I will say do in the next video. 12. Outlining The Left Side of The Composition: The painting is completely dry overnight at riding out. And I recommend you to the same because it's very important that the salt absorbs the water and dry completely. Now I will remove this soul, the grain of salt with my brush. You can use your hands is completely fine, but I, I love to use this fan brush to clean up the salt from the Paper. I will make sure all the grains are out of the Paper. And then I will continue with you Painting. Or next Details. I have this bunch of fine liners in different sizes and in different texture. And I also have some brush pens and I will show you how they look. You can have only one or two, this stuff for you to see how the different sizes works in the making of the, making out the outlines and how they make your painting pop. Let's start with this beautiful Pen. It has two tips, these very fine tip. And I will use this for the outlining of the leaves. And you can see how this looks. And you can type, you can refer to in another paper and see how fine or thick the fine liner is. And then decide if you want to use this in also painting the lines inside the leaves with this Fine, fine line. The size of this tip is around, see 2.5. And it gives a beauty delegate effect to the painting. Now, let's take a look at closer look on the leaves and see how it is looking. And now we can proceed to paint the online on the rest of the Painting. Now we are painting the Fish and this is a 0.7 deep fine liner. And you can see this is a little bit bigger or thick. And Orlando start to look more pop-up from the Paper. The final at the lines that to apply to the silhouette of your objects are the leaves or the fishes. The mortar. Pop-up or less pop-up opposite where become giving you that effect that it is above the water in this case, or that the water is more shallow than if you do this mod thick or more. Fine. Okay, let's proceed with the last details inside the Fish. And for that in using a number CDO 0.5 outlining. And this is another brand, but I just wanted to show you that it is completely fine. If you use any fine liner you have at hand, just make sure that you have at least two different sizes. We are going to do this beautiful pattern inside the Fishh that we did with the black. And now we're just outlining those patterns to make them pop. If I say that I need a little bit more of those black spots inside the Fishh, then I will paint them with my fine line and that is completely okay. Do the same if you feel like deficient Need more modest pots. Let's paint the last two leaves and then using the same FY19 and that I use at the beginning to paint the big leaves and in, outlining it carefully and keeping the shape of the leaf. Then adding the inside lines to make them pop. You can see here the left side is now more vibrant and pop up front the Paper. And the dry side is still like that is no, nothing there. But no worries. That is our next step, I will say do in the next video. 13. Outlining The Rigth Side of The Composition: Time to paint the right side of our Painting Composition. And for that I didn't using a fine liner. This is a 1.0 size and on the tip, and you will see how thick the lines become with this bigger, fine liner. You can use a bigger, bigger one or the smaller one and see how it looks for you. I am going through all the lines as well here and making sure that the silhouette of the Fishh stays clear and crisp. Finishing up the little details inside the Fish. And now we can proceed and also remark in the eyes of the Fish. Now, we can then paint the inside line. So parents are the phishing site. And for this in using a CDO 0.3, this is a smaller tip different than one. We use it on the other Fish. And in adding as well the black spots where I see the Fishh Need more pattern. They idea is to keep it cohesive and beautiful thing you will love this painting so much when it is completely, completely finished and we add the older Details. Okay, now our Fish is ready time to paint the leaves, that to smalls and the bigger one. And we are starting with the bigger one using this watercolor brush. I don't know what's ID. This is what I assume this is a 0.5. But Ashe, we are doing the outlining inside the leaves as we did in the fetus side of or Painting with the pink Fish. You can try to make this thicker and see how it looks. This good. This session of variety dimensional on the BIP. I then Painting as well the small leaves with this same Burdash. And the inside lines of the adding some little dots to make them pop as well. It is looking pretty nice now the both sizes of The Composition or Painting. And they are looking pretty beautiful. And now we are adding the whiskers to be Fishh. They're both fishes. And for that in using this brush pen, this is a soft brush pen, watercolor. I'm painting the whiskers as we did in the color chart. If you remember, we did this exercise and in using the both sizes of my outline it and going down the whiskers as well with the smallest one. And look how this fishes are looking. And the whole composition is pretty cohesive and beautiful. And I will then add the left, the last Details using the small deep of my fine line. And this is, this will be AC to bone five. And going there where they think, I need more outlining and adding some lines in the middle of the Fishh. To make the last detail before we add the water splashes that we are going to be doing in the next part of the class. And you can add more if you think you'd Painting Mark, and I will see you in the next video. 14. Final Details: Time to add the mathematical details to the Painting and includes stars doing it with white paint and activating the White paint with a little bit of water. And I have my brushes, flat brush, and my bamboo stick. If you know My other classes, I teach this beautiful Technique that it is super easy to make. Whimsical sky with many, many little stars. And we are adding this to the Pond, make it more Whimsical and Dreamy for these beautiful Fishes to swim in. And this gives an effect that the water is shining with them on light. Left, your creativity flows and your imagination. When you're White paint is diluted and activate it. Then let's start uploading or flat brush or with the bumbles thick and making those little, those little dots, white dots in this case, notice that, let's say they are stars reflecting on their Water. And you will see how these debates, the Painting to Whimsical me Beautiful level. I think you will love this technique. If you don't know this technique, please check out my other classes because I explain them very carefully and more in detail. You can learn how to do it. Now, we are adding some little reflects Chinese. It reflects on the Painting using a petrifying Burdash and Painting this Tad's or this is more like Chines. And these places of our painting on the Fishh, on the leaves and making them really magical.
