1. Introduction: Hello everybody. My name is Mario and I am a photographer, videographer and a U2 over together with my wife, we started in the world of YouTube, opening a Travel Channel already like three years ago, and with almost 80 videos from different cities around the world, I can tell you that I'm an experienced trouble videographer. In this course, you will learn everything you need to know about equipment travel planning techniques to film, vlogging and more. And let me tell you, I've lost so much money and time during the years I've been traveling because of lack of experience, planning and being ready. For example, one of my biggest mistakes was thinking that I need a lot of gear to start filming like nice cameras, GoPro scheme, balls, et cetera. And that is crazy. The only thing you need to start filming is start filming with your phone. My first videos were made with my phone, and I'll always regret that I didn't start filming my trips before. With every video you do and every mistake, you'll get better. So you have to start this course is for you not to commit the same mistakes I did by the end of this course, you will need three years of traveling and filming all over the world to be able to say that you are experienced as show you what I did wrong. We'll talk about equipment, accessories, planning the tree, and planning the shots, composition, how to find the right music for editing and much more. I'm very excited to teach you everything I know. Are you ready? Let's start. 2. How Do We Start: The first thing you need to do before start filming is to understand why do you want to make travel videos and who will be your audience? Don't worry if you don't have it clear yet, but at least try to analyze this. There are different kinds of travel videos. You have the documentary ones with a lot of voiceovers. And normally they are very serious and with a lot of information about the place you have, the culinary ones where you eat a lot. You normally show the typical food of the plays and everything related to food. And other ones are the ones that are made for travelers that are interested in visiting the place. A lot of information, prices and costs of that specific place. And we have the troubled locks that are a little bit of everything mixed with the direct experience of the videographer. And this is my case. I travel and tell my story what I like, what I don't, which food I enjoyed. I talk about the place, the culture, what I think about the prices, and I appear on the video very often. So he's not just voiceovers. This is what is becoming very popular now. Vlogging. And of course, that makes traveled logging very popular to whatever you are going to choose and which audience you will direct your creations. Let me tell you a secret. You're going to change it with time. With practice. In few videos, you will start to create your own style and then you will understand perfectly which kind of videos you are going to make and you will see also which audiences are starting to follow. So for now, I just want you to get an idea of why reached your style could be so that you can start. Now in the next lesson, we'll talk about gear even needed. 3. Equipment / Cameras: The equipment is going to depend on which kind of videos you are going to make. In this lesson, I will mention kinds of cameras you could use. But remember, I started with my smartphone. So if you are not ready to get the equipment, I'm going to mention for now. Don't worry, don't let this stop you. There is no skews. So start filming with your phone. So let's talk about cameras. These cameras are very common and affordable. You literally can just turn them on and should the pictures you want, most of them are automatic and the quality is very acceptable. But still you don't have much control over the camera. These are bigger cameras and they have more options to play with. Some of them even allow you to take a raw photos which professional photographers use. They are one step closer to the professional cameras, but still they have a fixed lens and you cannot change it. The difference between these two is simple, that DSLR cameras have a mirror inside the camera that moves every time you take a picture. So you need a little space for that mirror and makes them bigger. Now, the mirrorless cameras, the name sets at all. They don't have that mirror, which makes this camera has a smaller and more compact, especially for travelling that is good. Even the lenses are smaller and the quality is incredible. The same quality as the DSLRs nowadays. And by the way, both DSLR and mirrorless cameras have interchangeable lenses. Sport cameras are becoming very popular nowadays and they're getting better and better quality every time the new one comes in the market. Up to now, they can even record 5K and some are able to do 4K at 60 FPS. This is insane, and most of them allows you to film underwater as well. And they make various stabilized footage like gimballed style, which is a very good feature. If you're going to have some adventure in your trips, I recommend you to have one of these ones in your bag. They tend to be small and very easy to carry. I know many YouTubers that started with these cameras and of course also with smartphones. Today everybody has a phone in their pocket and I guess the most of them are at smartphones. Currently, Smartphones are making incredible videos like 4K resolution or a full HD resolution. And they can even do 60 frames per second or a 120 and even more. It is unbelievable. So don't hesitate to start filming with your phone. I'll tell you even today with all my year I have I always have my phone ready because you never know when something cool is going to happen and not always you have time to take your camera out. Well, every foot should you do with the drone is nice. Drone footage is, are becoming a necessity in travel videos nowadays. But don't worry, there are so many kinds of drones and the prices are becoming amazing with the new DJI drones, for example. Drones like the BGI, meaning very affordable for the quality you're going to get. 4. Equipment / Accessories: Now let's talk about accessories, the ones that are going to help us to make better voltages. Let's start with tripods. There very useful to stabilize footages. If you can try to get one with the video hit, they're very good and make our videos look more professional. You will use tripods also when you want to make time lapses that are so cool for troubled videos, for time lapses that come, I have to be super steady and for long periods of time. So a tripod would be very helpful. And the filters are like sunglasses for your camera. And these stands for neutral density. And they are glasses that you put in front of your lens to make your image darker. Imagine that you are in the middle of a trip. I need super sunny, but you need to record the moment. The footage will be bad with many highlights. And foreshore over exposed. Here is when ND filters become handy. And another way to use ND filters is when you want to do long exposure photography is so much light coming in your camera that you need to reduce it. Using ND filters. Microphones are very important to get. We want to capture not just your boys when you have logging, but also the sounds of the CT, the beach or whatever you're traveling. Videos are nicer when you have these ambient sounds, the sound straight from the camera and not the best quality. So it's good to consider an external one if your camera allows it. If not, you have also the option of lavalier microphones that you can put in your chest or hide them under your clothes and plug them in, in a recording device or even in your phone, using some applications that exist in the market. And there are a lot of these applications to record audio using microphones and then are also microphone's made for smartphones. And I would suggest you to do a research and go for them because the quality of the audio makes the videos more professional. In the resources of this course, you will find a PDF file with some recommendations that I will give you, not just for microphones, but for all the accessories I'm going to mention in this lesson. Well, memory guards, they are so important because without them, where you're going to save your pictures or videos, some cameras have even two slots for memory cards. And that is perfect because imagine if one of them fail, you don't want that to happen. You want also fast SD cards, especially if you are going to record 4K videos. And in this case they have to be at least of 32 gigabytes or more because 4K videos tend to require a bigger space for your smartphones. Also, you have to get fast cars. So what you'll have to do is always check this on the cards. If you see HCI means high capacity between two gigabytes and gigabytes of storage. On the other hand, if you see x, c means extreme capacity, and that is at least 64 gigabytes all the way to two terabytes. If you're going to feel 4K videos, I will recommend you at least 64 gigabytes. Here you can see ten inside the circle. And that means that he's going to work for at least ten megabytes per second. But that is the minimum, because here it says 95 megabytes per second. But well, ten is the highest in the market right now. Now in some carts you will see v 30. And that means that records video at least at 30 megabytes per second, which means that this card will be able to handle everything, even 8K recording. So this is the one you have to get if you want to record 4K videos, there are other carts in the market that would work, but to be sure I would choose the ones with the v3 on them. Now there is like a u and in this case with a three in it. And that is the rate of a minimum sustain right, of not lower than 30 megabytes per second. And number three is actually the top of the market nowadays. Here on the top you can see also these number one in the Roman number, which means maximum rate of 104 megabytes per second. And there are also number two, which are usaid carts that stands for ultra high-speed cards that go up to 312 megabytes per seconds. You have to make sure that your camera allows us h two cards, because these ones have two rows of pins in the back, which allows the speed of the cart. If your device doesn't take these kinds of cards, then the cart will work as a US H guard One. And the extra money you spend for the US H2 was for nothing. Also check your camera because not all the cameras are capable of using these fast cards. But of course, if your camera is relatively current, for sure, it can handle these cards in your traveling for few days or more. Don't forget to transfer your food ditches to your laptop as much as you can, have always your cart free and be saved or failures. I mentioned in cart failures in these lessons so much. But he's just for prevention because it never happened to me. One tip. When you transfer your files, copy them to your hard drive, laptop, tablet or whatever, you will save them. And then and just to him, when you confirm that everything was copied properly, then you can erase them from your cart. It happened to me that I cut and paste and then when I check the files were not saved properly. And when I go back to the cart, everything is gone because I've got the files. So please copy first. Trust me, now the carts for drones, a sport cameras and smart phones are microSD cards and the information is exactly the same as the SD cards. 5. What to Do Before The Trip: This lesson is based in things that happened to me in these years of blogging my trips, like not knowing my camera appropriately or not doing a proper research. It's very important for you to understand your cameras, tripods, lenses, Gimbels, everything you have, especially how your camera works. You don't want to be in the position of experiencing something amazing and then go home, start editing and find out that the food touches are overexposed or grainy, or maybe they're not even there. You have to be confident that you understand all the functions of your camera, or at least the ones that you're going to use. Check out how your gimble works. All the options that you're drawn gives you two film or how your GoPro works, even with your phone, check out a camera options, checksum tutorials about your specific phone. You know that in YouTube you can find everything. Remember that you are not going to be home. You're going to a new place to experience new things. So you want to know all the things that your year can give you so that you can take advantage of the situation 100%. Whatever you decide to go, do your research, have an idea of what to film. You can use YouTube and check all their videos of the same place. You can check Instagram for the best shorts, google for some information. For example, it happened to me that when I came back home from a nice trip that are deed, I was starting to check some YouTubers that did the same trip as I did. And I was like, oh my god, we're whilst these plays, I was there just five minutes away from there and I didn't see that plays. Yes, that's happened to me many times. I wouldn't suggest you to create a list of places to visit. And based on what you found in your research, make a list of shorts were to block where to eat, how to film. These are dots. You can even make a script of what to say. But just to remember some things that came in your mind when you were doing your research. Because at the end, you can and you, we'll change the script while you're filming. But it's always good to already have an idea to be prepared. The story of a video is very important, and maybe you will say, this is not a movie, this is not a short film. How can I create this story in the travel video? Will always you have to think about a beginning, a center that is something important or the best part of the trip. And then the end. You can also put the best part at the end. And that is basically your choice because you are the creator. Basically what you are doing is creating a structure, a system to make your life much easier while filming. Also, when the video has a structure to be Your feels more professional and that makes it better for the viewer. For example, in a video editing Vietnam, I wasn't Bernanke. My plan was to go to mesons that it's a world heritage place, really beautiful. So that was the plan, that was the center of the video, the most important part of the video. But my video starts obesity in a temple that was on the way, very picturesque. And there we found a lady Buddha huge statue. As you can see, I'm showing something interesting to the viewer. To finish that part, I showed some monkeys that were around, really funny. And then I did a little block in the place where I say what I like about the place or what to do in that place. And then I mentioned what is coming meson, which is the main place to visit. In the video, I said transition. I showed also a little bit of the streets people you can actually show shots that you make from the car also. Then we arrived to Mason, the center of the video, the important part of the video, beautiful place to connect the center with the end. I do a block and mentioned that we are going to eat something traditional so that I keep the viewer interested. So then I finished the video eating something traditional for dinner, and the video is over. So as you can see, I use this story technique, beginning, Center, and the end. Try to think about these before you travel, after you do your research, my video of the non was just about eight minutes. But if you're going to make a longer video, you cannot Mort spots, more places, just organize them in a way that feels right. This is a product. So you're editing doesn't have to be necessarily in the same order on how your triple wind. Remember that? Consider every place in your trip as a block, like for example, a seafood restaurant and you went to the beach, you went to a town market, you tried exotic fruits. So consider every of these things as blocks. And then in your editing, organized them in a way that makes sense. Like the beach can go with the seafood restaurant, for example, put them in a way that helps you tell your story. 6. Thinks to Consider During the Trip: Now that you understand your gear and that you are already prepared with some ideas for your video. Let's hit the road. There are few things we have to consider. You have to have your camera ready. Always you never know what could happen and you have to be ready to start recording if you're using a camera like a mirrorless or a DSLR, put all the settings you would like to use and have the camera ready just to take it out and push the button. Either using a smart phone, go to the configuration and choose the quality you want, like 4K, 24 FBS for example, whatever you want, and keep your phone ready to start recording. I don't think there is a bad time to film, but always will depend on what you want to film. If it is too sunny, for example, take advantage of the light. The shadows are incredible. And if the sign is in front of you, turn around and film the opposite side, the footage is going to be amazing. Eve, what you need to film a scene in front of you, we add the Sun, then you could use the ND filters. These are the moments when they become handy. What if it's cloudy? They could banish of that and lock as much as you can. Talk to the camera. I'll find people, animals, objects, the clouds work with the Sun as light diffusers, and they make a very soft light and it's very nice for the skin tones. Now the best time for filming, and I mean, you will get the best callers on your footage is is called the golden hour or the magic hour. This is basically the time just after the sunrise or just before the sunset. If you've never tried it, you have to start using this time. The colors are perfect. Now for me, the best is the golden hour during the sunrise, because he's very early and not many people are awake, especially in very touristic places that are normally full of people. In this time there's no people that footage is Did you could get will be excellent. Filming food is not mandatory in trouble videos, but have you ever watched a good travel video without food? I would suggest you to put in your scheduled some food, look for a place with the good light to film. And if it's possible, not too noisy. If you're planning to block, try your best on getting good shots of the dishes. You have to make the viewers want to try the food. Now let's go to the next lesson where we will talk about composition and how to get amazing shots. 7. Composition: This is a very important part of this course because here you will learn how to make your footage is different. To make them better. We're going to make your footage is more professional and more cinematic. The first thing we have to do is to stop thinking as a tourist and start thinking as a photographer. And I'm not saying videographer because people tend to get a little crazy when it comes to video. And I'm going to explain you why. Imagine that you are in front of a nice scene, but he's too big for the frame. Very often I see people making the video like this up and down. And that is called tilde or the sides and that is called panning. And don't worry, we're going to talk about this camera movements in the next lesson. Well, you do it because you know, you can move the camera up and down to capture everything because it's a video. On the other hand, the photographer have just one shot to capture everything. As a photographer, you kind of move the camera tilting or panning. A photographer, maybe it's going to n0 so it can capture a better angle. What will be the geography? You have to do the same. Maybe step back, position yourself. I'm giving just a little bit of movement. Just a little. You see, we're already improving our footages. When you're about to start filming, you have to think, why am I film in this? What is it that I like about this frame? What would I like to show the viewers? And then the very careful on what is in the frame. You don't want anything distracting. Tried to move as much as possible to minimize the destruction. Clean footages are sometimes very difficult to get, but they will make your video more professional. Another thing that can help your composition is the famous rule of thirds. Maybe you saw it already, you're fallen or in your camera. And most of them have the option of doing this. For example, in my smartphone, this is called grid lines. What you have to do is put your subject in any of the corners of where the lines meet. What this does is creating a march pleasant short for the eyes. Most people are going to film this object in the middle of the frame. And that is not wrong. But applying the rule of thirds makes the food touches more professional. Don't take me wrong. Ever rule is made to be broken. Sometimes you can break the rule. There is nothing wrong with it. Everything is going to be up to your creativity and how you see the frame. One example of breaking the rule is when you are logging. In this case, you don't need to be in the sideway holding your camera. Who said maybe you cannot do it, maybe doesn't look good, then you can break the rule. So to summarize, pay attention in every single shot. Tried to take your time composing your frames and your video will look more professional. I will leave you an article in a PDF file with more rules that professional videographers are following. So check them out in the resources for this course. 8. Kinds of Shots: Now that we know how to use the composition to make our videos look more professional. Let's talk about how to fell. Let's see the kinds of shots we can use. I will start talking about the white, the medium, and the close-up shots. These are shots that are very often used in movies and professional videos. When you start to fill normally you will use the wide shot because it helps the viewer to establish where you are. Then the medium shot comes basically to show your subject or what is exactly happening in the scene. Here also, you held the viewers to see what you really want to show them. The last one that you're going to use is the close-up that you use to show detail what the subject is doing. And maybe you show an expression. I use these shots a lot to show expressions of faces of the local people in the places I visit. Like I mentioned before, these shots are used very often. You don't need to use these combination all the time, but I would suggest you to use them at least every time you are in a new seem to show your viewers and make them understand what is going on. Remember panning is when you move the cameras side-to-side and tilting is when you do it up and down, I would suggest you not to use these techniques too much. I mean, don't overuse them, for example, is common to do tilting with a camera to show a big building or a big structure. But he's very to step away a little to capture the whole image. And of course give a little movement to the camera to make it more aesthetic. I'm not saying not to use it. I'm saying don't use it too much. One more thing I want to mention is to hold your shots. When you think that the shortest done, give it a little more time. It's better to have a longer shot to edit that, to have a shorter one. Also try the same camera movements twice, record, twice as a backup. You never know it's always better to be cautious. 9. Not Shaking: In trouble videos, every single photons you make has to be steady. That is going to make your video more professional. And I'm talking about travel videos because in the cinema or the movies sometimes they make a shaky videos to give a little bit more drama to some of the scenes. For example, a fight scene. They move the camera a lot to give excitement, suspends, and also to hide the mistakes, the mistakes of the choreography for that, that they also do these cuts and transitions very fast. But well, in trouble videos, try your best to make steady footages. If your camera doesn't have image stabilisation, use a tripod. And remember that when you use this soon in the camera, become add tends to shake a little bit more. Bigger the bigger the shake. Now if you don't have a gimble or a tripod, tried to use the Communists Tropp, pull the camera out, having this dropping your neck and make it in your neck tight, like pull the camera like this and your elbows have to touch your body like bees. You're giving 1233 points of support, and that helps a lot with stabilization. Now you can also stabilize the image in post-production. That means while editing, but not necessarily is going to work perfectly. Besides using the editing software to stabilize the image, will crop your image a little bit. Don't take me wrong. I use this civilization resource of my editing software, but I always try to have my footage is as a stabilized as I can when filming. We have to try to do the things properly and good in camera. So they save a lot of time with editing. 10. Frame Rates: Basically videos are composed by a lot of photos that together generate movement. There are certain number of photos in every second of video, and that is what is called frame rate. For example, 24 FBS means 24 frames per second. That means 24 pictures per second of a video. If you use more frames in a second of video, for sure you're going to get them more fluid video and maybe you will be thinking like that. Then I'll fill them all my videos at a higher rate. Sounds logical, but it's not. Because if you do that, the video will not be not to. The human eye can see at a rate of between 30 to 60 FPS depends of the person with that. I mean that for example, a 24 FBS, you can see a blur when something move fast at higher frame rates, that blurred starts to banish and the video start to be more fluid, and that is not natural. Now talking about filming, we are used to lower frame rates. All movies that you watch where filmed at 24 frames per second for many decades, and our eyes are used to it. The Director Peter Jackson in his movie, The Hobbit, tried to implement something new in the movie industry and filmed the movie at 48 frames per second. A lot of experts commented that the movie didn't seem natural. They didn't like it. We are really used to the 24 frames per second in movies. Tv is filmed at 30 frames per second. You know, these kinda like a soap opera Luke or the news, those are 30 frames per second. Now that we understand frame rates, the question is, which should I use? Well, that depends. If you want a cinematic look, you know what to do 24 frames per second. If you want a more fluid and broadcast D look 30 frames per second. But why would I use more frames? Let's talk about slow motion. How to get a fluid slow motion plane with the frames per second. Imagine that you have a footage of 24 frames per second. Very clear 4K resolution. Amazing, but you want to give a little slow motion to the footage, like half of the speed, something nice and smooth. But it's going to happen is that the software is going to stretch out every second of your footage to two seconds to make it last double the time. Now every second of footage is going to be 12 frames per second, making the quality dropped down significantly. There is a simple solution, whatever you want to use as a slow motion, just film it with more frames. For example, film it that 48 frames per second or 60 frames per second every time you want to do the slow motion in those voltages. So that when you stretch them, this 48 frames per second become 24 frames per second. And the quality is going to stay the same, as simple as that. Some softwares are going to help you if you forgot to film at higher frame rates. For example, if you film at 24 frames per second and you want to stretch it to the half of the speed, the software's going to stretch it and duplicate the frames so that you stay with 24 frames per second. But he's not necessarily going to be perfect. And the idea is to look for as closest perfection is, we can always you have to try her best. So think about which footage is you would like to use as a slow motion so that you are prepared and ready to change the frame rate in your camera. And now to finish this lesson, I'm going to give you a tip, a supertype to get the best footage quality and the most natural one, you have to double your frame rate in your shutter speed. What I mean by that is that if you want something cinematic and you are filming at 24 frames per second, then your shutter speed has to be 48. If your camera doesn't have it, go for 50, that would be the closest If you want some slow motion and you're filming at 60 frames per second, your shutter speed should be a 120. I know is a lot of information and a lot of cameras settings in your trip. But take your time, do it properly and you will see the quality of your videos improving a lot. You will never regret taking your time. 11. Organizing Footages: Now it's time for the post-production. And the first thing I do all the time in this stage is organized. My footage organization is the key to a happy editing is going to help you to save so much time. Normally I will create a folder with the name of the trip. Then in that folder, I will create more folders like music, audio for the voiceovers, audio effects, videos, images, et cetera. You do as many as you need to have everything organized inside the folder of videos. I will create more folders. For example, the beach launch, vlogging B-roll where you can actually put food touches that you will use while blogging or in between, like when you are changing from one scene to the other. For example, if you are in the beach and then you go to eat in-between, you could put footages of people or the streets. And now that we have everything organized, we have to start thinking about the video. How is it going to be? Which food touches will go first and which ones last? What is the most important thing or the funniest thing that you did in your trip. So now you have everything organized and you have an idea of how your video is going to be. We have to find proper music. Music that will go with your food teaches music is going to be the sole of your video. All our cots, trains and transitions are going to go with the music. So let's go to the next lesson where we are going to search for soul music. 12. Finding the Right Music: Like I mentioned in the previous lesson, you have to choose a song that goes with your footage. And sometimes it can take a while to find it because it has to be the right one and free of copyrights. And there are many places where you can get music. They are free options, and you have also some options where you have to pay. The free options normally are not of the top quality, but can help you allot. To start, there are many free options, and I will mention two of the most popular ones. Youtube has a big library and they keep updating it. You have to check it out. The YouTube library is amazing when you want to start to record videos and have free of copyright music. As you can see here, there is a lot of songs. When you come to your YouTube channel, if you don't have it, you have to create a youtube channel. Then you come to you to studio on here on the left side, on the bottom, as you can see, you can see all your library. So look at the amount of songs. And now here on the right side you say you can see added, it means the date that the song was added, December 2020. So as you can see the update all the time, you have here a search or filter rivalry. So you can actually do a very upgrade search here on the bottom and you can see that some of them are Attribution not required. You just download the music and put it in your videos, as simple as that. And the ones that said attribution required to do exactly the same. But at the end, when you publish your video on the description, you should put this music was from all your library and you have to say whatever it says in the required. For example, I go to attribution required. And there you go, you have to say that this was made by Kevin mock load for example. Okay, but it's very simple, but you have a lot of music, a lot of music, and as you can see here on the top, it sound effects. So you also have sound effects. And this is really cool. I mean, all of this is for free, so it's really cool. And the secondary option I would like to mention is mixed kid that CO, and this one is not just for music mixed kid that see, this page is awesome. When I found it. I was really happy because it's not just for music. You can see here is a stock video. Stock music. You have sound effects, you have video templates, like the videos. You can go to video and you can see actually stopped videos that you can use in your videos. And this is amazing. If you go to music, you can search your music like ambient, cinematic, corporate, you look for children music, country jazz, rock and roll. Or you can search by move. It, it's really, really cool and there is a lot of music, look a lot. So you have also good music to check the quality of the music is really good. You can use them in your videos, and this is for free. You also have sound effects. Here, a lot of sound effects is very similar in quantity that the YouTube library. But here in mixed kid that CIO, you have templates. So for example, we go to templates in Premier Pro. And you're going to have here a lot of templates like transitions, like openers, like call-outs than plates for Instagram, for you to move your logos, titles are a lot of stuff. So really mix, mix cape that SEO is a place to come and just browse around the, you for sure you're going to find something really quick here. Now let's talk about the top quality music. These ones that you have to pay. But don't worry because most of them are having like Pair year, some of them are having like subscription styles, so they are not bad at all. Now for higher quality music, The ones that you have to pay a subscription, there's like hundreds of them, but we're gonna talk about four that I like, the most popular ones and the ones I actually used during my years editing and creating travel videos. So let's start with epidemic sound that is very popular within a lot of famous YouTubers. And really it's, it's crazy the quality of the music they have here. It's incredible the quality of the music and as you can see, is trusted by Timo while by Twitter, Microsoft, I mean, there's a lot of companies that use epidemic sound. We go to pricing is not back as you can see. It's, it's incredible for everything you're gonna get here an epidemic sound, paying 13 Euros a month, that well, the United States would be like $15 a month actually. So its music and sound effects. Now, personnel that you're creating content or podcasts for your own use. And this is the one that if you are going to create a YouTube channel, or if you're making videos for your platforms or for your face MOOC or for your social media. This is the one you want to use. Commercial is more for business if you're going to do a commercial on TV or something like that. Okay, so in our cases I'm using the personal one and that is enough. If we go to read more, you can check actually a little bit more of details and you can see music for content creators. So basically these 13 Euros is actually for people that are making YouTube, Facebook, Instagram to each podcasting, social media, you can start for free for one month. And if you like it, go for it. This is like really an amazing, amazing platform to use. Now let's go to the second one that I'm going to mention and his music bed. So as you can see here, this is basically used by Nike Lamborghini, Xbox, Samsung, Google, Netflix, and it will go to pricing. We'll see that here's going to be $999. Epidemic sound was $15, no, like 1599 or something like that because I wasn't euros. But he's like $15. This is $19 a month. They don't have sound effects. So basically, if you're looking for sound effects and music, I will suggest you to go with epidemic sound. But still the music here is incredible. Let's go to the next one now. Out DO.com, discipline is kind of new. You have also the trial here. You can start for free and then after the trial you are going to start pain. This is not happening with the music bet. That's really sad. Music bed has to do something about it because because they don't have the free trial. But I will do you have something that put them apart from epidemic sound and music, bet? And it's this if we go to buy now so you see the prices and look at these in audio is also used by NBC, Netflix, also Nike bad. So it's really, really, really good quality music. But our geo has this lifetime music membership, so you paid $299 and you have it forever. You don't need to worry about it. Now you have the option of 199 for one year here in this 119 nineties, including sound effects, music, sound effects. And yes, they have a big list of sound effects. Now, if you want just the sound effects, the lifetime sound effects membership is one 99. So if you want sound effects and music, you just do the math. And this is what you have to pay forever. Like you'd never, never have to pay anymore. That's a lifetime subscription. So do the free version, the start for free. And if you really like it, you think that you're going to use it for a long time. I think you worth it to go for the lifetime you have here embargo elements and impasto elements is very popular because it's not just for music, is for sound effects, graphic templates, graphic, they have stock photos to stock video. So b2 elements have a lot of things. There's like add-ons, web templates. It's for everything, for everything one creator is going to use these a lot. So if we go to pricing for only creative subscription, you need €14.50 a month. So that's going to be like 16, $17. And like I mentioned in motto, is going to include a lot. Now the music of embattled, it's very good. It's a very interesting quality of music. But epidemic sound out audio and music bed are going to be higher quality. But still for 14€50 a month here in inventory and you get all of these things that they gave you, it really worth it. So if you're going to use fought those videos, graphic templates and transitions and things that inventory is giving you. I think it's good to go with them, this ones where it just few options of music, but there are so many in the market. So I will suggest you to check as many as you can, so you can choose the correct one for you. Most of the ones that you have to pay, they have free trials also. So go for it. Now, choose the music that you feel is the right one for your video. And I'll see you in the next lesson. 13. Let's Talk About Editing: Now we have everything ready to start editing. You have the idea that footage is are organized and you have the music that it's already chosen, and maybe you chose also some sound effects. So let's import everything in our editing software. Now, I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro, but you can use any editing software at the end. All of them are going to have the same idea. By the way, if you want to learn how to edit in Premier Pro, I actually have a course here in this platform with more than four hours of lessons about premier broke. And if you are editing with your smart phone or maybe you're using a tablet. I also have here in this platform, of course, coal, a master that personally I think is the best application to edit a video in a mobile device. But well, let's go back to the editing. There are some things I want to suggest to you when it comes to editing. The first thing I normally do is check all the four digits I have and trim them. These are not going to be the final cuts. This is just selecting the parts are good and the potential for this video. Music is not just something that goes with your video. Video has to go with the music. And I'll explain you what I mean by that. When you put the music in the timeline, you have to make sure that every footage is properly synchronized with it. Now we are going to cut that the footage is in a way that every cat matches the beat of the music by like I mentioned in another lesson, every rule is made to be broken. So they're going to be a couple of footages are not going to match the bits, but please, at least 99% of the footage is half to go with the beat. And that is because by doing that, we are making our video more pleasant to the eyes and ears of the viewer. I'm going to show you some examples, withdrawn footages. So what we're going to do is to cut the food touches exactly in the beat of the music. I found this cinematic music very nice that he's going to go with a drone footage is that we have here we already trimmed the food chairs, but they're not the final cuts NOW there seemed like the best parts of the footages and then we're going to manage to play around here. So let's start first. Let's check the audio. How is the volume that there's evolves? As you can see here is in red, is too high. I always like to use minus six decibels. So the first thing I'm going to do is to reduce the volume to make it minus six decibels. I'm gonna go like minus six. Let's see how the again we go to minus six. Let's see what happened. You see now it's six decibels minus six decibels. This is what we want, okay? Now if you have a voiceover or if you have like, I don't know, a login and you put it here, of course, you put the volume of the music a little down so you can hear yourself. But always in general, altogether, have to be minus six decibels. This is like a standard, okay, now that we have the volume of the music properly done, let's go and let's do the trimming and cutting exactly in the beat of the music. There is one of the cuts, right? It's one of the beads go there. So what we can do is we just do this. Let's see the next one. I think there, it's a little bit before there is another beat. Let's use b. There you go. Now let's check the other one. And we go like this with all the music. We start to trim and exactly with the beats. And that's the idea. The music is going with the video perfectly. They are synchronized and this is what we want to look. Therefore, example, I'm not doing a cut. I mean, I'm not doing the cat exactly in the beat. Why? Because like I said, it's always good to one or two footages out of all of the footage is you have to let them go, you know, like I said with the rule, let's see again. And there I can cut the size of the footage is they don't need to be all the same. Just cut in the beat. Sometimes you can play with a lot of voltages together very short. It's just the creativity or however you would like to do your video, it's up to you. You are the creator. Now that the cuts are much in the beats of the music, we have a nicer and fluids video. Now with transitions, we can make our cuts look better. But the idea for the viewer is not to notice them. The transitions are going to be in between the cuts, but remember, they have to be properly chosen and in the correct spot so that they are unnoticeable. Transitions basically are going to help us to decorate our editing. There are different kinds of transitions and some of them can even be made with a camera, others with the editing software and others, you can purchase them actually in the previous lesson and mentioned that you can get some free musicking mix kid, that CEO, well you can find also some cool transitions, therefore free to download. So go and check them out when we talk about transitions, there are so many options. We have some transitions, spin transitions, you have the panoramic transitions. You really have a lot of options to choose, just the ones that go with the flow of your video. And remember that the transitions have to be so good position in time that they are unnoticeable for the viewer. Spit ramping gives a nice touch to your videos. I use it a lot withdrawn footages and also when there is a lot of movement and I want to slow down any specific part. Let's go to the editing software and I'll show you what I mean. So we're gonna do a little speed ramping so we understand more or less what is it for sure most of you are going to know what is the speed ramping, but I'm going to show you the way I do. So we have this footage here. We're going to go to effects, as you can see here, Right-click time remapping and sorry, time remapping, speed. We go all the way in the beginning and here where the houses are going, maybe he here, I want the speed ramping to start. So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna press M and I'm going to mark these. And then I'm gonna go here for example, and imagine that there is the position where I want the speed ramping to stop. Then I press M and I have this mark. Well, we have to do is to come here with the pen tool or you can press pee in your keyword. And then you go exactly here where he studied the market, your deed, and click it. And then here the same thing. This is exactly when we are going to start and we're going to end. Let's present v. So we go back to the white arrow. Let's make these a little bit. Why they're doing this is to smooth up the speed ramping is not going to be too harsh, okay, now if we come here in the wide line, you can see that there are these arrows up and down in the big black arrow. It means we can start with a speed ramping. Let's go to, I don't know, 500. There you go. I think that's close enough. And now you can see that actually our video shorten it up. The speed is normal here, speed is normal here, but in the middle is gonna go really fast until it reaches the place that we want it. And this moves again. So the idea of these is when you have a longer footage that you want to show to the viewer, but it's taking so long that you want to speed it up. But you don't want to speed up everything because there are some parts that you want to slow down. So then here is the way Speed ramping. You can do the opposite also. For example, there is this guy and escape or to doing amazing things. You film a regular speed and exactly where he jumps and do this things you can slow down slow down the footage. So it's also the opposite. So yeah, do it use it, use it as much as you can, especially with drones. I use it a lot. Cool, isn't it? Now we have basically everything done. So in the next lesson, I will show you how to promote your video in social media so that you can start getting news. 14. In-Camera Transitions: Transitions decorate our videos, make them look more professional. But if you don't do them properly, then they're going to cause the opposite effect. Your video is not going to look good. Positioning and timing are very important and to have seamless transitions is not difficult. But we have to pay attention in how we do them. So let's create some transitions with the camera. And I'm going to use a GoPro for a change. The first one I'm going to show you is a very common and easy to do. You just have to cover your lens. So you have to end your first footage covering your lens with the surface and start a second one from a surface. It doesn't matter the color of the surface because when the lens get close to any surface, it loses light and become black. So don't worry about colors. You can actually also using when blogging, covering your camera with the hand and then uncover the camera when you are in a different place. Or it can even be another person and covering the camera. Okay, This is very important and I want you to remember this forever. Most cameras have auto-focus. So the first thing you do, and this is for all incoming transitions, is to set your exposure and set your focus and then lock them. You don't want the camera looking for a point to focus because that doesn't look good. Now we bring the camera, you can do it up and down or to the sites. Try always to follow the same direction. For example, if you are planning a nice footage to the right, then when you want to finish this short with the camera to the right, always the same direction. And then for the second shot, first you have to look for the frame, look for the exposure, the focus, lock them, and then come to the shot weeping the camera from the left to the right. So the movement is always to the right following the same direction of the first shot. At the end, you just go to the editing software, put them together and make them much simple as that. So if you do from down, up or down is the same thing, the second footage has to be always following the same direction. Now let's talk about masking. These transitions are so cool. All you have to do is make your shot pass in front of an object that is going to cover the camera at some point from the top to the bottom or by the sites. For example, here I have two footages. In the first one that three is covering the camera. And in the second footage, the subject is closer to the camera. Now let's go to the editing software to see how to do it. Okay, We have here the two footages that I showed you before when she's walking on the trees in front and the other one is like a close up. You can see her and the dog there to make the mask in transition. The first thing that we have to do is to look for the three and look for the first frame where the tree is already showing the background you see, but that's not the first frame. If we go back, you still have a little bit. I think this is the first frame where you can see a little bit of the background here. What we're going to do here is to make a mask. We're going to start making the mask like this. We click here and we already have the mask mate. Okay? Well we're going to do is to create a path. And we're going to start making the mask. And let's pull it a little bit in and let's close it. This is covering the part that we don't want to cover. So what do we do? We come to the mosque and we click hearing, embed it. And there you go. Now you can see that the mask is here. Now, here we're going to click to go one frame forward. We're going to make the mask, like I said, it has to be a mask like is going to go over one frame by one frame meets no, I know that it's going to be requiring a lot of patients, but we have to be patients to make things nice and better. No, There you go. Like I said, it doesn't have to be perfect because we're going to feather out and it's going to be nicer. And now we have to do these frame by frame. So I'm going to be doing these frame-by-frame. And then we're gonna come back to show you what is it that we have to do at the end. Okay, as you can see, we've finished with all the masks one by one, frame by frame, until the end. Now what we have to do is we have to come back to the first frame. Remember, we did the first frame around here. As soon as we find the first frame needs there, right? There is the first frame. We're going to put here these video from the bottom. Under. There you go. And this video is going to basically replace what we erased. So as you can see, when she's walking towards the tree and the tree is already moving. This image is actually the video from the bottom. Let's see. You see, now we can see that there is a little bit of something going on here is not that perfect. So what do we do is we come to the first video and we do a mask feather. Let's put it like 45 feather. And now it's more subtle. It doesn't look like there's something wrong there. So as you can see, it's much better. Now let's go to see another kind of transition. This transition is so cool. You just need to shake a little bit the camera and then shake it again in another location. Remember to shake the camera at the end of the first shot and at the beginning of the second shot. Okay, this is a bonus transition when you are blogging in front of the camera. In this case in front of the GoPro, you can twist the camera to one side and then go to another location and twisted back like for example, like this. And now I'm in another place. There are so many more transitions that you could do. So just grab your camera, get out there and start filming. Be creative, experiment. 15. How to Promote Your Video: Okay guys, I'm going to tell you how to promote your video when the video is finished, when it's already published, how to get people to watch your videos? Of course, the first people are going to watch your videos and your family and friends. Sometimes I see some people that just starting like in YouTube for example. And they have like five subscribers or they have just like 20 views. And I don't understand when the first thing you have to do is to share it with your family and friends. Somebody in your family is going to like it and he's going to share that video is the same with your friends. Somebody's going to like it and he's going to share that video. And then your community's going to start to form. And another way, and it's like a more massive way, is going to Facebook. For example. Here I am in Facebook and I'm in this group called traveled loggers. It has 15,015.400,000 people following these group. So if you post something here, imagine how many people are going to be able to watch your video. And you can see here, a lot of people are posting images, you know, posting videos. This is in buck rain for example. Well, some pictures and posts and there is another video here, there was posted. My point, even if you put the picture also ease for create a community. This is a community and you have to be part of it. So you see this, this video, for example, watch it, enjoy it, and also comment can also learn from other YouTubers. This person, for example, hello, nice videos so they are commenting. I mean, you create a community, you help people. Sometimes they ask questions. I'm going to, I don't know, Paris, there's anybody know a good place to BC that is not in the YouTube channels are in the books. So yeah, I was in Paris and I recommend, you know what, there is these little hidden place that is very nice and things like that. So be part of the community, not just use the group, just to post your videos, but also be part of a community, help each other. And then when you pose your videos, they trust you already and they're going to follow you. They're gonna watch our videos. There is another Facebook group here, troubled loggers. And you can see here people are posting hanoi for example, this is in Vietnam. People are posting, people are command in. And then you pose your videos. Ok. I think we got the point. This is another travel blogs where this person is even posting courses of Premiere Pro how to edit for travel videos. You see, relax and feel the breeze of the ocean. So all of these are groups in Facebook of travelling and you can be part of them and then held the community. And they knew pose your videos, share your adventures with them and they're going to watch it. You're going to find people from outside your circle, you know, outside your family and friends. This is a very good start, Facebook and you can come to read it if you don't know, Read it. Read it is actually a platform that is created but subreddit, you know, you can see here for example, Bosnia, That's a subreddit, premier, That's a subreddit. So every subreddit, it's a community. And for example, I opened here one subreddit that is called trouble vlog because you can see travel blog. This is the subreddit. And look, a lot of people are posting travel videos here. A lot of travel videos. So you can enjoy the troubles videos and you can actually hear comments. If you put the arrow up, it means you liked the video. It's nice you can comment the video. Then they're going to comment your videos and then you find a lot of people read it actually help a lot. My channel. To grow because people have started to watch videos and said I found you from readied. I really liked your channel and they started to follow me. Also, if you pose your videos here, they can tell you, you know, why. You can change your thumbnail, you can change these, you can change that. And you have to be able to take criticism because that's the way you're going to grow. Okay, this is a really good platform, Reddit and then of course, Instagram, who doesn't know Instagram? You know, here in Instagram, I have my Instagram, that is my travel journal, that is basically my channel, YouTube also. And then you can see here and Instagram people posting pictures of travel videos also. Ok, because of course with my travel journal blog, I'm following travel channels. We comment there pictures and they come in our pictures. And this is very nice. I mean, we just come in each other. And then when you have a new video, you can pose our video is up and in your, in your biography, you put your YouTube channel or whatever the link to your video or whatever you want to use. So Instagram is also a very good platform. So I'll suggest you to use Instagram. This is, for example, my Instagram. And then we pose the pictures of our trips here. A lot of pictures and every picture has a lot of comments, a lot of likes. These, we also find new people. Now another platform, YouTube. If you're using YouTube, views YouTube appropriately. So in due to, for example, there are so many travel videos, there's so many trouble videographers, bloggers, et cetera, just go watch their videos. Follow them, learn about them, comment there videos. Sometimes you're gonna answer to your video. Also, I'll suggest you to look for a travel videographers or loggers in YouTube, YouTubers travel YouTubers that have the same amount of followers that you have, tried to look for them and tried to help each other. And then maybe you can even do a collaboration if somebody is in your country or somebody is close to you, you can do collaboration videos that helps a lot to promote, not your video but your channel. Okay, so tried to do this, think of this as a community. All of these travel videos are made by people, are made by U2 verse, and they are all a community of troubled loggers. So talk to them, ride in their comments in the comment section. If they don't see your comment, if they don't answer your comment, but don't worry because you are commenting in their videos and other people that are commenting are reading your comments. And they could say, you know what, the comment of this person is. Very good. I really like it. I'm going to check his channel. There you go. They went to your channel already. So help the community. It doesn't matter if the U2 various gonna read your comment, but people that are reading the comments are going to read your comment. And that's the way to create a community and to help each other. They're going to check your channel for sure. Of course there's more platforms. I'm just showing you a few to have an idea, to help you with an idea. But there's so many platforms. You have Twitter and you have so many platforms. So just try to use as many platforms as you can to be part of their community and focus in a couple of them. So you can create your channel from YouTube also in those communities or whatever you are using to promote yourself. 16. Project: Okay, now if it's gonna be a lot of fun for the project of this course. I want you to get out there and make a nice video if you are traveling, apply everything you learned in this course. I actually have a few already, so you're welcome also to check them out in my profile and see all my courses like how to edit in Premier Pro or Kenan master. Even I have a course on how to create your YouTube channel from scotch. So go ahead and check them out. Again. Thanks a lot for choosing this course. And if you like, you can also follow me hearing scarcer so that every time I update the course or add a new one, you will be notified. Now it's time to start creating until next time.
