1. Intro Video: Singing can feel tough
in the beginning. Things like keeping
your voice from straining, controlling
your breath, or sing relax while you sing
can all be a challenge. That's why in this course, we'll break down the essential
skills every singer needs. My name is Joseph, and I'll
be guiding you through the process of finding and
strengthening your voice. It might feel overwhelming
at the beginning. But remember, nobody
starts out perfect. Every great singer had
to begin somewhere. We'll take it step by step, and you'll get
plenty of chances to practice so the
concepts really stick. If you're ready to start building your voice
the right way, I can't wait to see
you inside the course.
2. Pattern 1: In this video, what we will
do is also interesting. What you want to do this time is every time you sing
something, so let's say, L, L. I want to step
with your right foot, okay, especially the right
foot, not left foot. And the reason why
you want to do that is because we're
trying to train our minds to get on the rhythm with the song.
Let's say there was a song. Do you know that sometimes, like, let's say you
have a song, you know, you start by dancing
a little bit, you know, moving your shoulders. Imagine this, like you're
moving your shoulder. You know, you're kind of
like, pop pp bum pop bum, bup bup, You're kind of, like, you know, vibing. Want to try to do
the same thing, but with our right foot. So every time I play something, let's say this So L, L, L, L. I want you to kind of tap with your right
foot on the floor. And that way, it will get used to going on the
rhythm with the song. Lo L L. L. No, no, no. No, no, Lord L L L. L L M No, no, no, no. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Lo L Mm No No L, L, Mm La La Lola, no, no, no, no, no. Lola, no, no, no, no, no. Mm. Oh L, L, L No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, la, no, no, no, no, no, no, Lola, no, no. No, no, no, no. M L, L, No, no, L, L L. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Lo, no, no, no. Lo, no, no, no. La La. M L L L. Not that I no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not that I no, no,
no, no, no, no, no. Lord Lor No. No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, do do No, no, no no no no Lo Lor Mmmmmm L L M M So so M L, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. 3. Pattern 2: Welcome back in this lecture. So what we'll do,
here's what we'll do. This one is going
to be interesting. What you want to do right
now is you want to try to stand up and then sing. So whatever you're
doing right now, try to stand up just
for this lecture. And just for this
lecture, try to sing. So we're going to do
the same thing again, as I'm going to give
you different patterns because it gets
boring eventually. So we're going to do
different patterns. And then whatever
pattern I play, you want to sing it while you're standing up. So
let's say this one. Law, law, law. You want to sing it using law, but then you want to make
sure that you're standing up. And the reason why we're
sending up is to make sure that you're not used to sitting down when singing
because when you sit down, maybe you can be
in a bad posture. But while sending
up, it's pretty much impossible to
be in a bad posture. And so make sure
you're sending up. I will help you with
your breathing. As usual, let's get
into the pattern. The first pattern is going
to be very interesting. And again, make sure that the first pattern is as
interesting as the last pattern. So make sure that you
keep your interest in the first pattern as
well as the last pattern. Because if you think
that at some point, you're getting
distracted or something, pause the video, you know, have a little bit of rest,
and then come back. L L Mm. Lord, Dola, Lord, Dola. Mm No, no, no. No, no no. The L L, Oh. Lo L L. L. Uh No. No Mm. Mm. No, that, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, that, no, no, no,

4. Pattern 3: During this lecture, what
we will do is we will train this one. It's called the. So hi hi hi. So whatever note you
hear on the piano, you want to sing it using. I'm going to give you
different patterns. Some of them are easy, some
of them are difficult, and we're going
to sing it using. So it should go like this. Shh. Try as much as possible to breathe from your diaphragm,
from your stomach. So whenever you sing, try to think about your
stomach when breathing. It will help you exhale
your air better. No, no, no, No, no, no, Mmm Mm L. L. L. L. Mm Mm Mm Lo Lo L L no no L, L L L, L L doo doo doo doo huh huh huh L, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. La, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. 5. Pattern 4: Here's what we're going to
do during this lecture. What we're going to do is
whatever note is played, we're going to sing it
in different vowels. So let's say there was this
note, like this better. What we want to
do is sing in Wu. So Ooh whoo whoo. Instead of singing a, we want to do it in W.
So let's say there was this. You want to
sing it like this? Whoo whoo whoo. And this will help
us pronounce better. There's different vocal shapes. There's different lips shapes that you should do in singing. And right now in this lecture, we're training the W shape. So try to it's
literally WOO whoo. So let's say Mm. And that's gonna
be pretty much it. Keep in mind that if you feel that if you feel that your mouth muscles are
feeling a little bit sore, just pause the video and take a little bit of rest.
It's not a problem. Mmm. L, no, no, no L, no, no, no M M M h. No, no, no No, no, no, oh Lord, no, no, no. Lord, no, no, no. La La No. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. L L Do Do M L, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. L, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, he. No, no, no, another,
another now. L, no, no, another,
another know. No, that, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no. No, that, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no. L, no, no, no, no. L, no, no. Mm. Mmm, No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Mmm M L, L, Lord Lora L, L, L, Lor L L L oh Mm oh Mm hmm. Mm hmm. M L L Mm. L. L. Mmm Mmmmmm Mmhmm L, L. L, L L. Lo Lo oh. No L, no, no, no. La, no, no, no, L L No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Uh, Lo, no, no, Lola, no, no. La, no, no, Lola, no, no. L L Lla, no, no, no. Lalla, no, no, no. Mmm. La, no, no, no, no, no, Noah, no, no, no, no, no, Oh.
6. Pattern 5: Inside this lecture, I want
you to try to hold a cup of water in your hand and try to hold it and
don't put it on the table. The reason why I
want to do this, and by the way,
don't fill it up. Don't fill out to the maximum. The reason why I want
to do this is just to make you distracted
with something else. Because if you think
about it, when you try to sing in front of an audience
or in front of, like, someone or a friend or family, maybe you forget half of the things that you
kind of learned. And so we want to
train ourselves to sing under pressure
or sing and multitask, do multiple things because
many of you, you know, have dreams and aspirations to be on stage or to sing
in front of someone. And whatever you learn, you want to just make sure that you want to account
for getting half of it. And so that's why you want
to learn how to multitask. And so try to hold,
like, a cup of water in your left hand or in
your right hand and, you know, keep it holding. Like, keep holding it so that you distract
yourself somehow. This is not helpful
in singing itself, but it's helpful in multitasking
and as usual, enjoy. La La. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. Lo Lor Lor No Mm the M M Oh Oh. Mm hmm. Mm hm. Lord Lord La La La, no, no, no, no, no, La, no, no, no, no, no, m La, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. La, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. No, no, no, L. L. No, no, no, no. L, no, no, no. La, no. L, L. L L L, no, Lola, no, no, no, no, no, no, la, no, no. Mo Mo Lon on, Lon, L L and Lord Lord No, no. L. No, no L. No, no Lord or Lord Mmm. Mmm. L L L L L L No, no, no, no, no, no,

7. Pattern 6: In this lecture, what we will do is we will try to learn
a bunch of patterns. So whatever I play, let's say I play this note, you're going to try to
sing it using a, a. Just like this. And
what we're trying to do here is we're trying to
increase our pitch accuracy. This is something
that all singers at all levels struggle with. Even myself, I still struggle
with it to a certain level, because if you think about it, if you try to sing
this note, so a. It's not that hard, but when
you try to sing this note, L. L. Now it's a
little bit harder. So there the more far the
notes are from each other's, the further away the notes
are from each other's, the harder it becomes
to hit the note. And in any given song, there's always notes that are, you know, somehow far
from each other's. And so what you want to
do is you want to train your pitch accuracy to be
able to hit all the notes. And so in this lecture, as well as the following lectures, I'll be trying to
give you a bunch of patterns that are
somehow difficult, but also some of them are easy. For example, let's say this. Mm. La, low. And so what we'll do is
a question and answer. So I'll give you the pattern. Let's say this. And
then you sing it. So I'll play the
same pattern twice, like this. L L, low. I'll play it, and
then you sing it. So I'll play it
twice, like this. And now it's your turn, so
La, Let's say I play this. Now it's your turn. La, w, w. So I'm gonna play
each one twice. The first one is my turn, and the second one is your turn. So we're gonna keep doing this, and it will improve
your pitch accuracy. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, No, no, no, no, no, no, no, Mm No, no, no, no, M L, no, no L, no, no Mmm Lora Lora No No Mm L, L, do Mm hmm. Mm hmm. No, no, no, no, no, no.
