1. Simple hacks - Intro, plant-in-a-pot, micro-greenhouse: Simple hacks to my
gardening easier. In this course, we're
going to be looking at simple things that won't
take too long to implement, but will make your gardening
life a lot easier. Plant inner portland Skyping. This tricky is a brilliant
one for reorganizing plants. In a flash, all your knees
is from large plastic pots. If you have some plants that
prefer to live indoors in the winter or plants that only look good for
a show season. Well, it can sometimes seem like a big efforts plant
remains in the garden just for a couple of months before you have to then
dig them up again. Not only that, but it can
be stressful to the plant. However, if you bury some
large pots and your borders, you can simply then
put your own plants, cilia in their own pause
into those larger parts. By doing this, you
can then remove them in a flash once
they start to die down. It also makes
watering a lot more efficient since none of it
will escape into the ground. Not only is this
good for borders, but if you have raised beds, it can make seasonal
changes a lot easier to do. Gone are the endless hours
ripping, spent bedding plants, trying to dig either roots, simply lift them up here to the pot and replace them
with something else. As I said, this
technique is good for plants you might need to
bring indoors in the winter, such as lemon trees
or orange trees. It can be good for
seasonal plants such as bedding plants or things
or chrysanthemums. But it's also good for
plants that might spread quickly if they're planted in
the ground such as bamboo. The only thing to be
careful of is making sure your plants
don't get root bound. So just pick a pot
that's large enough for the plant to get enough
nutrients for this season. It makes experimenting with different arrangements
or loss easier to put cans in the
bottom of the pots. If you have really deep parts, it can take a huge amount
of soil to fill them. Instead, you should fill
the bottom with all cans, empty plastic bottles,
or even all plant pots. This is actually a much
better way of filling the pods than simply
filling them in soil. Because it improves
drainage and creates air pockets for better
aeration and healthiest soil. I used to also use large rocks or stones in the
bottom or more parts. But even though it's good
for terms of aeration, it does my the past extremely heavy and
difficult to move. If you have an issue
with pots falling over, however, then Rocks
is the whites ago. But if you want movable parts, then stick with
empty cans, bottles, or even plastic plant pots. Edging your loan. I really quick and easy
way to create a clean, straight line on the edge of your loan is to use a
long piece of timber. Use your foot to hold
the length of wood down and then use a spy
to cut along the edge. It sounds simple, but I've since so many people choice
uses spite freehand, cutting edge of alone Just
to end up with a wavy line. It's quite hard to do. The plank of wood helps you
to do it in a much easier. Why? Micro greenhouse? If you find it hard to start
off cuttings or ceilings and you don't really
have the room for greenhouse or a
large propagator. You can make your
own micro greenhouse using a clear plastic bottle. Just cut the bottom off a
clear plastic bottle and place the top part are
directly over your ceilings. You can use this method to
grow seedlings in plant pods. But you can also
use it for ceilings that you're growing
directly in the ground. It gives HC link its
own mini greenhouse. Once it becomes
established enough, you can just lift the bottle off and use it somewhere else.
2. Toilet roll seed tubes, sponges in pots, watering indoor plants: Toilet rolls, seed tubes. Really easy way to grow seeds is society on
toilet roll tubes. Just could the cardboard
tubes instituting slants and then arrange
them in a waterproof tray. Fill each tube
with potting soil, and then plant your seeds in them as you would normally do. The good thing
about the cardboard is that it breaks down quickly. Once your seedlings
already supplanted solid. You can just grab the
entire total role and planted in the ground size, having to mess around
trying to prepare the fiddly little
salience individually. Another useful ceiling part is the ROI and of
any citrus fruit, they're probably not as easy to collect and store is
toilet roll tubes, but there's still good. Just make a little hole in
the bottom for drainage as some damp compost and
start planting your seeds. Then when it's time to
plant the seedlings out, so just paint the whole
lot in the ground. The thing to remember
about this tip is it the citrus runs what
might the soil acidic? So only use it with acidic loving plants
like radishes, peppers, onions, and hubs like parsley, Rosemarie, cij, and time. Watering and feeding
tense plants. If you have a large
Dench bush or shrub, you might find it hard to
feed or watery correctly. It can be hard to get
down to the roots. You end up spraying
water all over the plant and most
will go to waste. Instead, what you can do
is get a plastic PVC tube. Just slide the tube, dense the base of the plant, and pull the third slider or water directly into the pipe. If you're planting a shrub, then you could add a
tube that goes down to the roots of the plant
before you fill the hole in. This is even more
effective as it directs water directly
to the root system. This is great for new shops, especially during hot periods. Then once established, you
can just remove the pipe. Sponges at the bottom of parts. If you have smaller pods than
watering can be a problem, especially in warmer months. You might find that
most of the water goes straight through the
pot and drains away, leaving the source simply dump. A good way to combat
this is to put some sponges and
then put them in the bottom of the pots before
you fill it with soil. The sponges do a couple of jobs that will retain quite
a lot of moisture, stopping a lot of the water from flushing straight
down at the bottom. And they also create an S spice, which is very important for
healthy root developments. Watering indoor plants. I don't know about you, but I always struggled to find a suitable vessel for
water in my house plants, I end up point too
much water in if I use a jog or if a buyer special
highest plant watering can, it always ends up in the way. So I end up putting
in the shed or Gary's and they're
forgetting about assets. Really good watering count for houseplants is a
disposable coffee cup. The takeaway copes with the
plastic lids on the top are perfect because
the little hole in the lead makes the
watering poorest slowly. You don't over water the plant. The crops are also
small enough to keep in the kitchen cupboard
or bathroom cabinets.
3. Coffee filters in the base of pots, epsom salts, zip ties: Coffee filters in
the peice of parts. If you have ever put
newly planted ports on a patio or some decking,
then water them. You'll know that sinking
feeling of seeing dirty water and bits of composts covering
your clean slabs, the drip strike outside
the plasma of the pause. Well, there are a few
things that can be put in the bottom of pods to stop the cellphone company
at the bottom. Two of which we've already
mentioned in this course. But I don't completely
solve the problem of composite Skyping from the
house. And the bottom. One thing that does work really well though, is coffee filters. If you price a coffee
filter at the bottom of the pot before we
fill it with compost, it was stopped all the air from escaping the pot while still allowing water to flow through and not waterlogged the plants. Epsom salts. You might have say
an epsilon sources are in the supermarket, marketed as a home remedy
for many conditions. But you might not know. It's also useful in the garden. Absence of some might edge
of magnesium sulfate. And magnesium can be
useful for any plants. Plants need magnesium
for producing chlorophyll and for absorbing
nitrogen and phosphorus. If you add two teaspoons
of Epsom salts to a gallon of water and water your
plants with it once a month, they will greatly
benefit from it. Alternatively, you can
use the same dilution in a spray bottle and miss the leaves with
it occasionally, it increases plant growth and is especially useful for
vegetables and roses. Zip ties. You should always keep a packet of long
zip ties in your garden bag. They're so useful for
tying up plants like vines and getting them to
grow up a specific structure. Nowadays you can buy any color
zip tie you can think of. Just don't toss in it to totally as a stem will need
room to move and grow.
