1. Class Intro: If you're an artist looking to find ways to sell your art online and make an income from your creativity than this class is for you. Hi, I'm Julie. I'm an artist and art business owner from Vancouver, Canada. One of the ways that I make an income from my artwork is through print-on-demand websites like red bubble, societies six, and thoughtful, through which I can sell my designs on real-life products like clothing, stickers and more. I've been selling my art on fossils since 2014. So I have nearly ten years of experience. I have multiple Davos stores and I've sold thousands of products to people all over the world. I also teach other artists how to sell their art online through my website, YouTube channel, and here on Skillshare, where I share a premium long format content. In this class, I'll be taking you step-by-step through the process of creating your own Zomba store so you can sell products from your art is a great print on-demand platform for artists to start selling their art online without any inventory. We're gonna go through everything from setting up your store, creating your first products store organization. And then I'll share with you some marketing and protests, whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting on your art business journey, Salvo is a great platform for you in this class. I'm going to share with you all of my experience from the last almost ten years selling on the platform, they have a huge range of products available for you to customize. My intention is for this class to be a resource for you to come back to over and over again throughout your whole journey. By the end of this class, you'll have a fully functional dazzles store and a solid understanding of how you can create products from your art. Whether you're due to the salvo platform or just trying to improve your current fossils store. There's something for you in this class. So if you're ready, I'm ready. Let's get started. 2. Supplies and Class Project: In this lesson, we're gonna be going over the supplies and class project. Throughout this class, we're gonna be going over setting up your XAML Store from start to finish. To get started with selling your art on Sawzall, you're going to need some digitized artwork. If you don't already have a few artworks that have been digitized, then you're going to need to go back to my other Skillshare class where I show you how to do that and follow the lesson on how to digitize your artwork for print-on-demand. And the other main thing you're going to need for this class is a laptop or a desktop computer. There are some functions of dissolvable website and design tool that just don't work on anything other than a laptop or desktop. For your class project, I'd love for you to share your thoughts will store with me in the projects and resources section of this class. In the next lesson, we're going to start by opening an account and setting up our first Apple Store. So we'll see you there. 3. Store set up and getting started: So to get started, you can navigate over to zappos.com. In this lesson, I'm basically going to be setting up a brand new store from scratch under my existing profile. So if you don't already have an account on Sawzall, you're going to want to click on cell on Savile up there on the top right corner and create a brand new account. You can click on cell on Sawzall there and then click on Register. Now, just go through the steps to create your account. It's just going to be filling out all of your personal information. So go ahead and just create your account. I'm fill out all those details and then I'll meet you back here so we can start setting up our store. So once you've created your causal account, you should see a page like this which says, open a cellphone store. And as you can see, the store is 100% free. And the first thing we need to do is come up with a store name. Now, this could be your brand name, but it can also be a completely different story named is depending on what you wanna do. Keep in mind, you can have multiple stores under your account with different store names. For this store actually want to sell my photography. So I'm going to call it Julie Aaron photos. And as you can do, you can't put any spaces in between the words, so I just made it all one word. And here it says the store name is available, so no one else has that name, which isn't good. So I just check off the capture and hit Create store. So on this page will fill out our store details. And the first thing we're gonna do is create the banner and the logo for the store. So I'm just taking a look at this page here and the dazzle Help Center, which gives you all of the image asset sizes. So 22, 80 by 380 pixels for our banner and the logo, five by 512 pixels. And it has some other media info here, which we will refer back to later. So I'll leave a link to this page somewhere in the description. So going back to our store information page inside your store as private while you're setting it up if you want to. And on this page, it gives you some more information about what that means. I personally don't bother with it. But if you feel like you are not ready to show your store to the world, you can go ahead and set it as private for now until it's ready to publish. So here we can fill out our tagline and our About section for our store. We can do this a bit later. But first I want to add the store banner ad logo. So I just threw some things together really quick in Photoshop and it's making me crop it even though I use the suggested dimensions. Again, I'm using my photography for this doors, so I created a banner from one of my photos. And now I'm just filling out a few tags that are relevant to the type of photos that I'll be selling. And you can obviously change all this leader as your store evolves or if it changes. And for the location, I'm just going to put Canada for now. You can actually have the location be something else, even if that's not where you're living. And for my logo here, I'm also just going to use another one of my photos that I'll be selling in this store. So clicking over to the Home tab, this is the homepage for our store. We also have a profile and then Julie Aaron photos is the store itself. So like I said, you can have multiple stores and you can flip back and forth between your public store front and the back end by clicking on this return to store management and then view public storefront. And throughout this class we're basically going to be going through this store completion section. And it's going to raise our Z rank, which we'll talk about a little bit more later. But basically we're gonna go through all the steps here to complete our store. And now it's dazzle. There are tons of customization options. You can customize your homepage. So it's really important to go through all these different settings. If you go into Settings and then go over to advanced settings, There's a few things here I wanted to show you so you can customize your store front. So this is what's going to show up on your public star friend. So right now it's defaulted to these visible sections and you can add and remove them. As you can see I'm doing here. So once we have some products, categories, collections, and that sort of stuff set up, you can go back in here and then decide which sections you want to show and in which orders. So you can decide whether you want the category titles in grid or not. And there's just some other info here that you should just take note of. If you have a Google Analytics account, you can add that. This section here is just talking about how Zazen might sell your products on other websites like Amazon, e.g. which you can decide not to do. I just leave it checked off because I don't mind if they saw all my designs on other websites as long as they're paying me up to you if you want to do that as well as the design transfer. Definitely go through and read more about all of that so you can make a decision that works for you. So back over on the Home tab, we're going to start going through all of these store completion steps. The first step is to fill out your story. So back in this store information tab, we can just fill out a simple tagline and a little bit of a description just so we have something there which we can totally change later on and revise and make it better, which I always recommend that you do. But for now I'm just thinking about the kinds of products that I'm thinking of selling and the types of designs and photography that I'm planning on selling, though. Give it a little bit of thought and just fill out a few sentences here for your store. So you can write something about the types of designs and photographs that you're selling. Definitely keep in mind a few keywords. You can also tell a little story about yourself, the artist or the photographer, just to give it a little bit of a personal touch. So I've got some keywords here, dreamy aesthetic photograph. I also have many of the same in my tags as well. And for my website, I'm just going to put my Instagram link, which you can see here is my photography Instagram account. And you can totally use that as your website. That's absolutely acceptable if you don't have your own website. I'm just adding a few more tags here under the tag section. I don't know if there's actually a limit on the number of tags you can have in this section. It might be ten or something like that. So I'm just adding some more of the tags that are going to be relevant to the artwork that I'm selling. So now that we've got our basic store info filled out, the next step is to create our first product. But before we go too much further, I want to show you some basic navigation of the novel website. I'll meet you in the next lesson. 4. Navigating the Website: In this lesson, I'm gonna be talking a little bit about what Zavala is. And then I'm just going to show you how to navigate the website. So dazzles what's known as a print on-demand marketplace, which basically means that the items are only printed and shipped when a customer places an order. So they basically have a bunch of blank products available to choose from. And then whenever the customer orders the product with a specific design, then they create that product and ship it to the customer. So there's no upfront inventory and the customer can basically get a unique personalized product. So when you upload your art to incisal, you can sell your art on all these different products. And then Zazi will take care of the printing, manufacturing, shipping, and customer service so that you can just focus on creating art and designs. So now let's get into how to navigate the website. And this is the homepage when you're logged in, I'm going to scroll back up to the top and you can click on the logo here just to get to the same page that I'm on. So to start with, we have the shop and explore tabs. The Explorer tab is kind of like this Instagram feed. You can like and share your own in-situ versions of your products. And then over on the left-hand side, you have all of these different tabs, including a Create tab. So this is one way that you can get to the blank products that you can create. Now this other stuff, illustrations, backgrounds, etc, you can't solve that. So the only thing that you can sell are the blank products with your own designs. So we can quickly go through these other tabs here there's trending gifts cell. So here's another area where you can find the blank products. And they have new products here, top products. So there's multiple ways that you can get to the blank products. And my staff is like your designs and liked products. And then live, you don't really need that if you're selling your own art. This is more for customers and explore as well. It's kind of more for shoppers rather than designers. So this create top, it's probably more where you're going to spend your time. There's also this hamburger on the top. And under this menu is just another way for people to shop. And there's also the create your own here. And if you click on View all, that's yet another way to get to all of the blink products that you can create for sale. So there's also some stuff here on the top right of the screen. So this is like notifications and messages. And then your avatar here and your cart. And if you click on your avatar, there's a whole bunch of selections here as well. And this is where you can check your earnings. And you can also view collections, earnings, saved design, check your other stores, like if you want to navigate to one of your other stores, you can click on stores and it's showing my public profiles. So I want to switch to return to profile management. And then to show all of my stores. You go to Show all stores. So if it's not showing up there, that might be the reason. And another way that you can navigate to your store is if you click on your name, then it's going to show like your member account and then all of your different stores here. So that's another way that you can navigate to your member homepage or your store homepage. So this is my overarching account under which I have multiple different stores. And it's not likely that your customer is really going to even see this page. So you don't really need to spend too much time here, but as you can see, it shows all of the different collections that I've created in multiple different stores. And it's going to show likes, any products that I've liked. And then it's going to show the stores that I've pinned to show on this profile. So you can use that little pin to pan or unpin your store to this suction. So from here I can navigate to my Juilliard photos store friend. So this is the storefront as opposed to the members. So that's my member creator profile there. So as you can see when I clicked into that, now, I am on my profile rather than my store. So just be mindful of when you flip back and forth between those. So this saved design section, I also just wanted to mention that anytime that you click into a product, whether it's your own product or even someone else's product, is going to show up here. So you can actually save your design and come back to it to work on it later. But you're going to find that under your profile, not your store. So as you can see here, there's just a bunch of random products that I worked on. And I can actually go to someone else's product. So we'll just go find a random product here in the marketplace. And I'm going to click on that and go into personalize. And let's just change it to j and a, that's me and my partner is initials. So let's just see what happened there. So now I'm gonna go back to my saved designs. And now you can see here that product has shown up. It doesn't matter if it's your designs or someone else's. They're going to show up under here. And you might just want to go through and clear that up. Sometimes if you're not going to use it, just go in and delete these. If you are not going to wind up actually publishing it or go in and finish the design leader. So from this page I clicked on my avatar and it kinda looks different. So it's showing me the same stuff, but it's it looks a little bit different from this part. And that's because that's kind of the old website and some of the links will sometimes I knew back to the old version of the Sawzall website, so don't get too confused with that. It's kind of like a glitch. I don't know. Just be aware of that. Sometimes you might encounter parts of the website that are a little bit different looking. Your profile also has its own settings, so you can go into the settings and advanced settings. And again, just like the individual store, you can add and remove sections. You can show which stores that are going to show up on your storefront. You can select whether or not to show your badge on your stores. So going back up top, there's also this messages section where customers can send you a message if they want a custom product or something. Sometimes I was like spam that come through there. And then notifications are some notifications. And then you can also change the location that you're viewing from. I just keep it on the US version personally, and that's pretty much it for now. I encourage you to just click around the website and kind of get a feel for how to navigate the website on your own. And then we'll meet you back here for the next lesson. We're going to start creating some products in the next couple of lessons. So we'll see you there. 5. Creating your first products: In this lesson, we will create our first product, a simple cell phone case. I'll also show you how to make a T-shirt later in the lesson. So to get started, you can navigate to the blank product page via the Create tab or any of the other methods that I showed you in the previous lesson. I'm just scrolling down to select the cell phone cases. And I'm going to click on iPhone case and just pick one of the ones that are listed here. You don't have to actually create one of every single type. When we click on the one here, there's actually going to be a drop-down where people could select from all the different cases that Sawzall offers. So don't think that you have to create one for every device. So from here I'm going to click on Customize this divine and it's going to open up the Zavala design tool. So this is the south designed tool and it's kinda like a mini Photoshop. So under the My Files tab on the left, click on upload images and upload your first design that you want to add to the cell phone case. I've uploaded my first photograph and I'm going to expand it to fill the entire product. You can see there's this fence and fill option. And for this type of thing you want to fill because otherwise you're going to have an issue where it's not covering the entire product. And you definitely want to have the full product covered. So now you can see there's kind of this line at the very top of the cell phone and the bottom where it doesn't quite look right and it's not covering the whole thing. You can also use this scale tools with the plus and minus to adjust your image as well. There's also this toolbar at the top, or you can use a line tool. The tiling for when you want to make patterns. Filters here are pretty fun to use. You can change the color of your design and create new products so it's from the same image. So you can have multiple versions of the same image. I used to go back and make sure to expand the image. I'm hitting fill again to make sure that it covers the whole case and then hitting done, and I think it's ready. Now styles, I'm going to hit the solid button. And now we have our post product for sale page. And here we need to fill out a bunch of information. So starting with the title, we're just going to quickly describe photograph and then I'm not putting in cell phone case or anything like that because it's going to do that automatically for me. So I'm just going to describe the image and then it's going to suggest a marketplace for me, you can manually select from all the different departments. But this is where I want it to be. Anyways, I'm going to select that. And then my description, I'm just going to add a sentence or two here with some keywords and describe the photograph. I'm adding a couple of the same keywords as my title. And then I'm also going to add those same keywords into my tags as well. And that's just like basic ICO, which is going to help your images get found in the marketplace under product merchandising, Change options. And then you can actually change the default phone case that you want to show in your store. You can also select like this model or this model and style only if the artwork maybe wouldn't look good. On the other cases for whatever reason and events and occasions, we don't have any categories that operate now. So for categories, if you have a specific person in mind who the product is for, you can add it there. You can also select the story you want the product to be published to you if you have multiple different stores. Now we're just going to search for some relevant tags that we can use. So I'm just going to the homepage. Basically, I'm just describing my design and seeing how other people have been describing similar types of photographs on the marketplace. And then I'm seeing the types of keywords that people are using to lift their designs in the marketplace. So this is going to give me an idea of some of the tags that I definitely want to use for my product. So like girly, cute, rainbow. Now I'm just adding in a few single word tags. You can also add tags with multiple words and short phrases. So keep that in mind. You can also look for tags on individual product pages. So I went to, I like the top products and just took a look at the tags that they were using and added a couple of those. And I also checked sunset phone cases to see if there were any other good ideas for a tag. So now I think we have quite a few tags to work with, and that should be enough for this *******. We can only put ten tags anyway. So I think that's pretty good. Now under the additional information, I'm going to select a general audience. Obviously, if you have something with nudity or violence, might want to adjust that to an R or PG 13. And then I just leave everything else. How it is the royalty at 10% checkoff that writes Spock their view the product page. And now we can see. Our product listing. So now our product is published and in our store. And we can click on the storefront and take a look under the products tab. And now we see our product is there. So great job. We've published our first product. Now I'm quickly going to show you how to make a T-shirt in case that's more of the type of store that you want to open. So to create a new product, I'm just going to start from the Zavala homepage. So I'm just going to navigate there and then click on the cell on the left-hand side. I'm going to scroll down to where it says create a product and click on that. And now we're back to this page where you can select all the different blank product. So I'm clicking on t-shirt and scrolling down just gonna go with this basic women's T-shirt. So now clicking on Customize this design. And then it opens up the design tool once again. Now click on upload images to upload your design. I'm going to use one that I already have in the My Files tab. There's a bunch of other tabs here, text elements, products that will go through in a bit. I'm just going to click on my design to add it. And I have the snapping on, so I'm just dragging my mouse to snap it to the middle and then dragging it up a little bit and looking at the preview model on the bottom right to see what it looks like. So I think that's looking pretty good. You can see all the different views to see it, like how it looks when it's flat or on the model. Should also note that this design has a transparent background, which is what you want for t-shirt designs. So now we're going to hit Done. This product is ready to add to our store. From here you can choose different colors for your t-shirt if you wanted to change how it's displayed in your storefront. Like for this one, I might actually use red because it's like a Valentine's Day design. So that might work better or even not black. I think I'll go with the red. You can also change the actual model and the t-shirt that you want to display. The Amazon and your customer can also choose from all these different options as well. So again, you only really need to upload one t-shirt and then people can choose from all the different shirt options. So tons of different color on Fit options for your customer. And I'm just going to use the basic one and click felons. Now from here I'm going to fill out all the same information as we did for the cell phone case, but obviously geared toward this particular defined. Now there's lots more to cover. So I will see you in the next lesson. 6. Advanced Product Creation Custom Templates: So in this lesson, I'm going to show you how to make a cell phone case with customizable elements. So it's been a few days since I recorded the previous lesson and my Z rank has already gone up to a two. It did take a couple of days though to update. So just be patient and expect to wait a few days for things to update. If you click on the Z rank link, you can read a little bit more about what the Z rank is. It basically helps your products to rank higher in the marketplace. It doesn't say here that the rank is not currently factored into the marketplace, but it also sounds below your store will appear and have preference as the suggested search result and that you're storing needs to have a Z rank of four or above to have this enabled. So obviously it's an important or they wouldn't have this. So to continue on with our mission of completing our store and raising the Z rank two a four or higher, we're going to continue toward the goal of creating tens or products. So this is a quicker way to create. Another phone case is by clicking into your design that you already created and hit Edit design. Now you can quickly create a new phone case by clicking on Change Image. And then just selecting a different image from your media gallery and was in your gallery. You can also create albums, which I've done here. So you can create them for different stores or categories. So I'm going to create a new one for my Julie Aaron photos assets. So now I'm gonna go back into my gallery and just move a couple of these images over into that folder. Clicking on that little i, and then add two album, and then you can select the album. You could also create a new album from that dialogue. So now I'm just going through and adding those other Julie Erin photos assets to that folder. This will just make it way faster to find images in the future. You can also delete photos from here out of description and change the title. So now that we've done that, I'm gonna go back into that folder and upload some more images that I want to use for the store. So I've uploaded this new photo and I'm going to click on it to apply it to our cell phone case. And it's going to apply it with the same settings as the previous image, but it's a different size. So now I'm going to add a text element to this product and then turn it into a template that your customer will be able to edit. So I'm clicking on the Text tab and then clicking on Add Text. And my text is just gonna be a name. So I'm just coming up with a random name that's not too short, not too long, but kind of like a medium linked name. The font is just whatever I used last time, and it defaults to a black color. And here you can see there's a whole bunch of different options for your text. So under Fonts, there's a ton of different fonts you can choose from and you can favorite them. So you could come back to some of them later. And for the color, I'm just going to choose white. There's also a color picker that you could pick a color from your design. And then I'm just going to make sure the text is centered and the textbox is not going outside of those green lines. So the textbox is basically as long as your customer can put their own texts. And you don't want to going off the sides. And just going through the other tools. There's like justification tools, scale tools, Rotate, Flip. There's different ways that you can change the size of your tags and the alignment. There's also letter spacing, line spacing. So you can really tweak your design to how you want it. Just to demonstrate this, you could add a second line of text and then how that all as one, um, change the line spacing so that the words are closer together and the letter spacing just move them further apart. So you can really just play around until it looks good. You can also change the orientation of your texts to vertical in case you wanted that for your design, though just tons of little options for tax that you can tweak for this product. I'm just going to keep it as the first name and now we're going to turn it into a template. So to do that, you might have to expand the more options it'll drop down. And we're going to turn on make this a template object. So once we do that, this little product label comes up and we also want to have allow editing on product page on this URL parameter name, we want to leave it as text1. The product page label is what your customer is going to see on the product page. So we're going to change that to your name. So now we're going to hit Done and go to the product page. And you can see the name is there. Now you can see it has this personalize, this template, which when you click on it, you can see the name that we set up and the your name label that we created. So now your customer can easily just add their own name on the product page. So now we've checked that it's all set up correctly and working how it sheds. And now we're ready to submit our products that we're going to click on the cell it button. And because we basically copied from our other cell phone product, It's actually kept all of the information that we added previously. So this is a great way to create similar products more quickly. So now I'm gonna change my title to something with a custom name and then describing my design. I want people to know that they can add their own custom name to the cell phone case. So now I'm just going to continue to fill in the product information like we did for our previous products. And in the description, I'm also going to add a little bit of text explaining that it includes a custom name feature. So for now I'm going to leave the store category as new products and remove most of these tags that aren't relevant to this design and add some new ones. So you can use quotes to add multi-word tags. So I'm going to add Milky Way, Northern Lights, forest, purple, and other descriptive tags. I'm also going to add custom name in case people are specifically searching for Custom Name phone cases. The rest of these settings, I'm just going to leave as they are. And same with the royalty information. And now we'll check off the rights box and click post it. Now we've published our product so we can scroll down and click on See my product to see our finished product. So now we've created our first product, which has customizable template options. So next we can move on to creating a more products for our store so we can fulfill the task of creating ten store products. Will see you in the next lesson. 7. Creating a 2-Sided Throw Pillow: In this lesson, we're going to continue working on our store completion by creating ten store products. And another way to get to the blank templates is to click on the menu on the top left corner. Scroll down to create your own, then click on View all. Now we're back to the same blink product page. This time I'm going to create a pillow. So I clicked on pillows and poof. And now I'm just selecting a basic throw pillow. Now I'm going to click on Customize this design and open it up in this as a design tool. Now I'm going to upload my image. So when I click on that, it's automatically going to cover the entire product. So I don't need to hit Fit or fill here. But what I am going to do is go into my Layers tab on the left-hand side. So from here you can see that this product actually has a front and a backside. So here I'm going to select my image and click on Edit Copy. Now I'm going to click on the back layer and then go to edit paste. You can also use Control C and V for this or the Mac equivalent. So now we have the same image on both sides of the product. There's some other image settings here that we're not going to use right now. But we could flip the image maybe if you wanted it to be like backwards on the other side. So now we're going to hit Done and take a look at our product. This one has some pretty nice in Situ images that you can choose from for your listing can change the size. I'm going to pick one and click on Solid. And now I'm gonna go through the same listing process that we went through previously. So I'm not going to show all that again. So now we have three products in our store and we need to have ten. So now I'm gonna go through and create these seven other products So we can complete that step of the store completion. So now you can go ahead and create your ten store products. And in the next lesson, we're going to share the tensor products. So we're going to knock out two of those tasks to raise the Z rank. So we'll see you in the next lesson. 8. Sharing 10 Store Products: So now I've got my ten different store products. And I just did some more cell phone cases and throw pillows with different photographs. So back on the home tab we can see our store completion is 55%. Now, the next step we can do is actually to share ten soar products. I'm going to skip the creating collections for now and share the term store products first. So to do this, we're going to head over to our products tab, and we're just gonna go through each individual product and share it. One of the places where I really like to share my Zazi listings is Pinterest. So this is my Pinterest account. And I have different boards for the different types of product that I pin. So I definitely recommend using Pinterest for this. So on the product page, you click on the little box with the up arrow. And then it gives you this little dialogue box with different ways that you can share your products. So you can share a direct link, share to Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. So you can decide what works for you. There's also shows a preview of what your product is going to look like when you share it. So it's gonna be this mockup with the chair. You could select a different one if you prefer. So now I'm gonna go to this cell phone product and click on the Share button. Now I'm going to click on the Pinterest option. And it doesn't actually show the Pinterests dialog box, but I'm just pinning the product here to my cell phone cases board and then it's done. Yeah, I guess because I'm logged into my account. It's not actually showing it here, so sorry about that, but just know that I am pinning it to my Pinterest board. So anyway, now we've shared that product as well. And we just basically need to go through that for every single product that we have here. So I'm just going to go through the same process for all of these products and share it to the different relevant Pinterest boards that I've set up. Now that we've shared our ten store products, we've completed that portion of the stores setup. So now we can move on to discussing store organization, collections and categories. So we'll see you in the next lesson. 9. Categories and Collections: In this lesson, I'm going to be discussing how you can organize your thoughts will store using categories and collections. First we're going to create some collections. So under the collections tab, I clicked on new collection. Now I'm just filling out all the information here, like the name of my collection, adding a few tags, description. And I want it visible in my Julia and photos store. You can also choose the default store for this collection, which I also want to be my Julia and photos store. So make sure you take the time to fill out all of this information as it will help with the ICO of your collection. It also helps to have all this filled out in case it ever wants to promote your collection. They're gonna be looking for collections that have all the information filled out. So I already actually had a cell phone collection created for my other store. So it's not letting me it create another collection with the same name. So I'm just going to put photos here at the end just so that I know which cell phone case collection. This you won't have to do that because this will be your first collection that you've ever made. So don't worry about that. Now you see we have our collection, but it doesn't have anything in it. I'm just gonna go ahead and also create a collection for the throw pillows as well. So I'm just going to fill out all the same information as we did for the cases and finish that up. Now we have our first two collections created. Those since we need to create ten collections to raise our Z rank, I'm going to create another couple of collections that are more based on the design. So there's a few ways to approach collections. And in all honesty, it's like completely up to you, uh, you wanna do with collections. So by product type. So we've got cell phone cases, throw pillows, e.g. by design. So you can have like tropical ocean waves, clouds at South drive. And the third way is by usage. So you could have a collection for birthday parties, St. Patrick's Day, different holidays, office supplies, stuff like that. So if we click into one of these collections, you can see that there's nothing in it right now. So we're gonna go back and start adding some products to these collections. So to do this, we can go over to our products tab. And the first thing I'm gonna do is check-off the little checkbox next to each of the cell phone cases. Now I'm going to scroll up to this little tab at the top that says Bulk Actions and then click on Actions and then scroll down to Add to collection. There are various other options here, but I'm going to click Add To Collection. And then I'm going to select the photo cell phone cases collection that we created. And now I'm just going to do the exact same thing for the throw pillows. I'm just checking off the little box next to all the throw pillows, going up to the Actions tab, clicking on that, and then down to Add To Collection, and then selecting the throw pillows collection that I've created. So now we've added all those products to that collection. So the next thing I'm gonna do is click on all of the products that have this dreamy Cloud aesthetic photo and then add those to my Cloud collection that I created. So you can have the same products in multiple different collections. So if you're unsure about where a product might fit into a collection, you can just create multiple collections. The now when we click on this collection, we can see we have four products now in this collection. So the collections you can customize with a banner, which I'll go through a little liter. You can also customize the cover image of the collection here you can see it changed cover. You can either select a different product or select an actual image from your media file. And you can also organize within your collection by clicking on organized. And then you can drag your products around or use the little arrows to move them to the front or the back and just change up the organization of your collection. So whatever the top three products are that you have in the collection is what's going to show up in this part. And that's also what's going to show on your homepage. If you add the collections to your homepage. The next task that we need to do to complete our store is to create ten store collections. And I felt that I needed a little bit of inspiration to come up with some other collection ideas. The one way I like to do this is to click on the trending tab on the left side. And then just take a look at what other creators are doing. This person has a variety of design-based, product-based, and occasion based collections. So again, this is really totally up to you. And really it's depending on the types of designs that you're creating, the types of occasions you're creating four, and so on. This person has kind of created a color based collections and also some youth-based ones here like school and office, kitchen, sunset art. So that's like more design-based. So now that we have some more ideas, I'm ready to continue creating our ten collections. So I just went ahead and created a few more collections here. You can also organize your collections by clicking on the little arrows. And you can also drag them around, same as the actual products within the collection. So I'm just moving my collections that I have products in to the top. Then make sure you click Done to actually save those settings. So now I want to add these collections to my homepage. So I went into settings and then under advanced settings, I'm going to add collections to my visible sections on my homepage. And then I think I'm also going to add latest products created. So now these three sections are what should show up on my homepage and in that specific order as well. And don't forget to click Submit to save your changes. So now if I go back to my home tab, and now if we scroll down, we can see these sections that we've added to our homepage. Now you can see the, some of the collections are empty, but that's fine for now. We're going to add stuff to those as we go along. So we're done with collections for now. Let's move on to talking about store categories. So if we go to our products tab, you'll see the categories on the left-hand side. Categories are found on the left-hand side of your products tab. And you can kind of think of them as departments and a way to organize your store for both your customer and for yourself. So we can start to think about the different categories that these products would fit into. So we've basically got throw pillows, which could be like a home decor category, and cell phone cases, which we can have a tech category. So right now, all we have is this new products category, which is the default one that Zazi will just create for you. To create new categories. You're going to click on the All categories on the left-hand side. And here you have the ability to add new categories. So I just clicked on add new category. And you can actually have multiple categories within categories. So keep that in mind while you're setting them up. So I'm just going to start with a really overarching category of home decor. You can also add a custom category thumbnail. We're gonna do in a later lesson for now hit Done. Now I'm just going to add another category for the cell phone cases. And you can also go back in and change these later if you decide you don't like how you've organized your store. So don't worry if it's not perfect. So now I'm just clicking on the home decor category. So below home decor, I'm clicking on add new category. Now you can see it's new category under home decor. And I'm going to create a sub category here for my throw pillows. Okay, I just change it to pillows because that's more generic. Now I'm just gonna do the same to create a cell phone cases subcategory under our tech accessories category. So now if you look over on the left-hand side under categories, you can see these categories and subcategories that we've created. So now I'm going to click on My Products tab and go back to where all my products are and then checkoff all of the cell phone cases. And we're going up to this, auctions dropped down and then set store category. Now I'm gonna go to tech accessories and click on the cell phone cases category that we set up. You could even have a third row of subcategories and maybe even four. I'm not sure how many you can actually nest. So now I'm going to do the same for the throw pillows. So going up to actions, set store category, clicking on the home decor category and the pillows subcategory. So now if we go over and click on that category, it's actually still empty because like I said, it takes some time for things to sort of work themselves out in the back end. So just be patient and it should eventually move over into the category. It's just isn't immediate for whatever reason, I would just come back in a few days and chalk. So another way that you can create categories is on the post product for sale page. So when you create a new product under store category, you can actually create new categories from this section. So here you can either select a category that we already created or you can click Clear and then click on New. And then you can also select the category that you want it underneath. So you could create a subcategory or a top-level category right from this post product page. So e.g. I. Can create an Apple Watches category under the tech accessories category. And now if we go back to our Products tab and look under the categories section, click on tech accessories. And then you can click on the categories tab there. You can see it's added the Apple Watches category. So that's just another quick way to add categories to your store. If you're adding a new product that you don't have a category for yet. It's now our shop is starting to look pretty good though. In the next lesson, we're going to continue to add to these collections. And I'm going to show you another quick way to create new products for your store. So we'll see you there. 10. Design Transfer Tool: In this lesson, we're going to continue adding products to our store and collections. And I'm going to show you another quick way to create products using the Design Transfer Tool. I'm going into one of the products I've created. I'm scrolling down to where it says transfer design to a product. Now you can see there's already a few products here that it's suggesting you transfer your design to. I actually kinda like this wall clock. So I'm gonna click on that. And you can see on the mockup, it's already applied our photograph. You can change the style of the clock if you like. You can also go in and edit the design and change it up, add text. You can also add numbers to your clock. I do this for some of my clocks and some of them I just leave the photograph. So this is totally up to you. I also sometimes just add an image that has all of the clock numbers. So you could create something like that in Photoshop with a transparent background that just has all the numbers and then just add it as a layer for your clocks. So for now I'm just going to leave this clock as is. You could also use this Design Transfer Tool to transfer to any of the other products that they have available by clicking on view all products. And here you can see all the different products that you could transfer this divined too. But I'm just going to click back and then hit the Select button. So you can see here that it's transferred all the information from our previous product, including the tags and the description. It usually also transfers the title. I'm not sure why it didn't this time. I'm just going to manually type in the title here. And it's also suggested a new department for our product. And under the description, obviously we want to change, throw pillow to a wall clock and then change any other part of the description that doesn't make sense for this product. And under recipient you can leave it as is or clear that away or change it. And we're going to create a new category for wall clocks. So I clicked on New and then select the category homes or core. Click, Okay, and then my new category is gonna be just a wall clock. So now I'm just checking that all the tags still makes sense for this product and design. And I think they all work pretty well. So I'm just going to check off the box and click on post it. And now we've created our new wall clock product and we can click on see my product. And here we have our published while o'clock product. Now on the top here under listing tools, we can quickly add it to a collection. So I'm going to search for my photo wall clocks collection and just add it immediately to that collection. So now this product listing is complete. So now if we go over to our collections tab and scroll down, we can see that our wall clock is now in that collection. And if we click into it, we can see that it's there. Now if we go back to our Products tab, we can see all of the products that we've created so far. So using this design Transfer Tool, I'm gonna go ahead and create some more products to fill in these collections. And in the next lesson, we're going to create some bands for our collections and then share them to complete that part of the Z rank. So we'll see you in the next lesson. 11. Collection Banners and Sharing Collections: So it's been a few days since I recorded the previous lesson. And you can see now that my store is that a Z rank of four. And I still haven't even fully completed the store completion section. So that's pretty awesome. And in this lesson, we're going to create some banners for our collections so that we can share them. Technically, you could share them without adding a banner, but we might as well do it. So you can see here I've added a few more collections. There's two ways to add banners to your collections. You can just use a photo like I've done here and just crop it. I mean, that totally works and looks fine. However, the way that I like to do it is to go into the product. And then you can click on More Options and then click on download a product mock-up. This is going to download this in Situ image that the product is mocked up on. So you can go through and download a few of these mockups. I like to go with four of these. And then we're going to create a banner using these mock-ups. So you can go ahead and download the product mockup for, for products in the collection that you want to create the banner for. So you can use something like Photoshop for this. But I'm going to demonstrate it using this free Photoshop alternative called photo P. So if you go to photo p.com, you can follow along with me it to create this banner or just use an image editing software of your choice. I'm just going to quickly look up the pixel size of the collection banner. So I kinda had to do some digging, but I found it here in the Zavala help forum. So it's not the same size as your store banner is specifically a collection banner. If you're looking this up, make sure that you're looking for the collection banners eyes and not the store banners eyes. So here I found collection banners are 11, 40 by 315 pixels. Back in photo P. I'm going to create a new project with the dimensions 11, 40 by 315. I'm going to make it 300 DPI image. And then click on Create. Now I'm just going to File Open and place and then selecting those four mockup images we downloaded. Though now they've each loaded onto their own layer. And I'm just dragging them and snapping them into place to create our banner. So I'm just moving them around until they cover the full banner. And it looks nice. And this is how I create the majority of the banners for my collections. And I'm just going to move the clock above the cell phone cases layer and just adjusting everything a little bit so that it looks nice and balanced. And just moving around the designs that I have, a variety of designs. So you can play around with this until you like how it looks. Now you can just go to File export as a JPEG and download the file to your computer. I like to adjust the quality to 100% and then click Save. Now back over on our thoughtful collection. I'm going to click on Update, banner and change. And now I'm going to upload that image we just created. I'm uploading the banner to my Juilliard and photos folder. And now I'm going to click on it and it's applied that image to my collection. And I just feel like that looks really much nicer than just the photo by itself. So now we can click on Share. And then I'm going to actually share this to Pinterest, like I did with my individual products. And it doesn't show my Pinterest dialog box here. But I am just pinning it to one of my Pinterest boards that I set up a previously. So now we can go ahead and do this for each one of our ten collections. So go ahead and do that for all of your collections. And then we'll see you in a bit. Now you can see our store completion is that 95%. And the next and final thing we need to do is upload the ten media items and we'll go through that in a future lesson. But in the next lesson, I want to show you how to create custom category images and then add those to your homepage. 12. Customizing Categories: So in this lesson, we're going to create custom cover images for our categories, and then we're going to add them to our homepage. So I'm navigating to my Products tab. And then scrolling down to where it says all categories on the left-hand side. So to start with, I'm going to click on this new product category and just get rid of it. Now you can see within this category there's no products left in the category. So now we can delete this category. If it shows any products underneath the category, you'll have to wait until they've moved. So now we have our two top-level categories at home decor and tech accessories. So I'm going to click on home decor and then scroll down to one of the products that I want to use for my cover image. So one of these incidents, you throw pillows, looks pretty nice. I think I'm going to use this one. I'm gonna go up to more options and download product mockup like we did for the collection banners. And once again, I'm going to use the free Photoshop, alternative photo p.com. You can follow along in Photoshop or another image editing software of your choice. So I just went ahead and opened that image into photo P. And now I'm adding some text. So I'm adding the title of the category, which is home decor. And I'm making sure that it stands out against the background. And just playing around with that until it looks how I want. And of course, choosing a nice-looking font. And that always takes forever because if you are a designer, you know how many different fonts that you can play around with. And you know that you can just spend hours trying to pick a font. I'm not really sure about this font. I'm probably going to change it to something else. And you do want to have a font that reflects the vibe of your store. And you also want something easy to read. So I think I'm gonna go with this font. Yeah, that looks pretty good. I'm just going to center it. So now I'm gonna go to File export as a JPEG. And I'm going to rename the file and then hit save. Now back on HHS Oslo, I'm going to navigate back to my home decor category and click on Edit. Now I'm going to click on the category thumbnail and upload that category thumbnail that we just created. Once it's done loading, I'm just going to click on it. And it's already applied our thumbnail. So now I'm gonna go back into my settings and go back into the advanced settings. And now I can add the categories section to my visible sections. I'm going to click Add and it moved it over. Now I'm just going to drag it up so that it's going to be on the top of my homepage. And I'm going to uncheck Show category titles in the grid because I already have the category title on my image. So we don't need it to show twice. And now I'm gonna make sure I hit Submit to save those changes. Now when I navigate to my Home tab, you can see my home decor category is there. But we don't see the other category. And that's because it's not going to show up unless you've actually added that customer category image. Now I'm just going to go ahead and do that for my other top-level category, which for now is just the tech accessories category. I also wanted to show you that under the products tab, if you click on View Public storefront, you're now going to see your categories under here as well. So this can also help your customer to find products in your store. So now that we have all that set up, the next and final part of completing our store is to upload the ten media images. And we're gonna do that in the next lesson. We'll see you there. 13. Adding Media Images to Complete ZRank: The final step that we need to take to complete our store to 100% is to upload ten media items. There's a few ways that you can create media items to add to this section. One way is to actually purchase samples of your products and then take photos of them. Take photos wearing them, take photos of them just on the floor or whatever. Another way is to use those product mockup that we created. But you'll have to actually do some editing of them. You can't just straight offload those images as is. The way you can do is put those mockups into Photoshop or photo P and then change the background, change the colors, play around with all. I just went ahead and created a few edited mockups in the photo P app. And I'm going to click on upload media items. And here you can see I've uploaded these couple of items where I just change the background. This one I just edited the background color. Now it's accepting that as a media image. Now if you go to your Home tab and scroll down, you can see the media images there. You can also click on View Public storefront. And then you can see your media images there as well. And that is also what your customer is going to see. Here's a few examples of media images that I've created for my other store. I actually purchased samples of some of my products and just did a fun little photo-shoot with some friends. So that's a really fun way to create media images for your store. So go ahead and upload your time media images now. So now that we've completed our store, in the eyes of Sawzall, you're well on your way to having a successful business. In the following lessons, I'm going to provide some more advanced tips and tricks. So I hope you'll stick around and we'll see you in the next lesson. 14. Design Tool Tips and Tricks: In this lesson, I'm going to give you some tips for using zonules design tool. So I'm gonna go ahead and navigate to a new blank product to use for this demonstration. I'm just going to find something simple like this bath mat and click into that. And then head over to customize this designed to open the Zavala design tool. So the first tip that I have is to utilize layers by uploading designs with a transparent background like this. And then you can add a background layer. And you can just imagine the different possibilities with this sort of layering option. So definitely think about adding some of your motifs with transparent backgrounds so that you can just use them in all sorts of different ways. You could just have a plain background color. You can even do this with patterns as well. I've just done my motifs and then leave the background color empty so that you can just change the background color and just create even more endless possibilities with one design. So earlier in this class, I showed you how to create a template using texts that your customer can actually customize. And you can actually do the same thing with an image. So I've added this tropical image, but I'm going to go down to where it says make this a template object and turn that on. And then set up the product page, label information the same way as we did before. But now your customer is actually going to be able to replace this now with their own photo. So again, you can imagine the possibilities with this, especially for greeting cards and wedding invitation kinda stuff like that. So as you can see here now, you can change the image to a different image. So you'd basically just created another template for a customer to go in and add their own photos. The one thing to note here are these fit on Fill Options and that's going to change how the photo looks when the customer uploads it. So I usually use the fill option just to make it cover the whole area. And there's also all these filters in the design tool. I think I showed you this already. But it's kinda fun just to go through some of these filters. Sometimes they can not look very good, and other times they can look quite good. So just keep that in mind. You can also create multiple versions of a single design just using the filters. Up here on the top, we've got a whole bunch of alignment tools which can help to center your design or make it left or right justified. And if you have multiple layers, you can use these forward and backward options. Now, tiling options, it says so you can create patterns and those different types of patterns that you can make. So you've got just sort of thing, straight pattern where everything is stacked on top or you can go to some of these other ones that make it more offset. And that's just using my single little motif here. With the transparent background. You can also scale up and down, but as you can see, it just scale that kind of weirdly. So if you want to scale it like that, I suggest turning off the tiling and then making it bigger or smaller and then turn the tiling back on. So just keep that in mind. If you are finding that it's just not looking quite right when you're tiling your patterns. So another thing you can do in this design tool is used masking options. So they've got these elements here that are like some different shapes. E.g. I'm just going to add this circle shape. You can also change the color of the border on the inside and change the border thickness or remove it entirely. You can play around with that. But I wanted to show you how you can use this as a masking tool. So you're going to select both of these layers under the Layers tab, make sure they're both selected. And then this masking option and group option are going to come available. So you can group them like that to move them around. But the masking options, what I want to show you is I turn that on. So now you can see that the image is actually inside of the circle. So it's taken on the circle shape, which is kinda cool also, you can just think about all the different possibilities you can do with that. You can also create a template from that as well so that your customer, when they add their own photo, it's going to be inside the circle as well. I think you have to turn it into a template before you mask it. So turn your photo into a template first, then turn on the masking option, and then it's going to work as a template. And you can also copy and paste. So I just went into Edit Copy and now I'm going down to edit paste, and it's going to paste that image onto a new product. So I've already created this circle template with the masking and say, I don't want to go ahead and do that all over again. So I can just copy and paste. You can also control C, control V on a, on a PC and whatever the macro equivalent is as well. For some products, there is also horizontal and vertical layout options. So to get to that, you're gonna go down to layers and then you can see your design placement. So if you click on that little gear icon, now you can see the horizontal and vertical design placement options. So another thing is we created this text as a template. And if you go ahead and copy and paste that, it's going to make them the same. So you've got only one area here where you can add your text. It's going to change the texts from in both of those textboxes. So basically those two textboxes are attached to each other because we just straight copied and pasted the template. So that can be good if you have a backside and a front side of the same product and you want to have a custom name. And then making sure that if they change their name, it's going to show on both sides of the product or any of the areas where they have a name. So now I'm just demonstrating the Design Transfer Tool again, which I already showed you. And just to reiterate, you can transfer this design with your templates that you've already thought of. Any of the layers that you've already set up and easily just transfer that to a brand new product. So another really quick way to create new products. So I hope this lesson was helpful for you and you learn something new and we'll see you in the next lesson. 15. Deciding Which Products to Create: So as we've seen throughout this class, Salvo has a really wide array of products that you can sell your designs on to the point where it can be a little bit overwhelming. So in this lesson, we're going to take a look at how to decide what type of products to put your designs on. So one way that I like to do this is to take a look at the trending tab and just going through the different sections here and looking at what types of designs are currently trending. And from there you can figure out where your designs could fit into these categories. So designing for holidays is one really great strategy for selling ensemble. And at the time of filming this Valentine's Day is coming up and you can see the type of products that they're promoting for Valentine's Day and the different categories. This can give you an idea of which products to focus on and also collections that you can cure rates with your designs. So if you're a fine artist, e.g. you can take a look here at the types of artwork that dazzle is promoting, which is probably based on the type of artwork that people are searching for. And here where these circles are some keywords that people are also searching for in this wall art category. So this can help you decide which types of artwork to upload to what kinds of products. So if people are searching for, like rainbow wall arts or landscape wall art, you should maybe put your landscape designs onto Wall Art. And you can see here what types of wall art people are looking for. So there's like framed prints, posters, tapestries. Searching through these categories can just give you an idea of the type of products that people are searching for, the type of designs that dazzle is looking to promote as well. So another way that I like to get ideas for which types of products to create is to just simply use the search bar. So if I know that I want to create a collection around a bachelor party theme, I can just simply search for bachelor party and then take a look at the types of products that people are buying for a bachelor party. So there's a T-shirt. You've got the can cozy here. If you've got gift supplies, gift bags, some fun pins and stuff like that. So you can start to make a list of which products are going to fit into a bachelor party collection. And then you can create these products with a single design or with different designs and then group them into a collection. So yeah, beer mugs, shot glasses, all that kinda stuff. So you can kind of think about why do people where at a bachelor party, what do people do on a bachelor party? What types of products are going to fit into that theme? So I like to literally go through something like this and then make a list of the products that I want to design for this bachelor party collection that I'm going to create. And you can also take a look at those keywords at the bottom and see what kind of themes that people are searching for. So like destination bachelor party, golfing, bachelor party. Obviously beer and drinking is really popular for bachelor parties. So you really want to think about the customer and what they might actually be searching for if they're looking for stuff for a bachelor party. So keeping your customer in mind is actually really important and great way to figure out what types of products to create and also thinking about where your design might fit. So if you don't have a design that's bachelor party themed, then you're probably not going to want to use this theme unless you can figure out a creative way to make it a bachelor party themed. So another really great resource for deciding which types of products or create and when is these azo forums? So under your home tab on the right-hand side there, you'll see the forums link. Click over on that. And then there's just a wealth of information here that's Oswald themselves are providing. So you can see here they have these different guides, wedding 2023 creator guides. So let's take a look at what this is. There's also a moment's planning guide which is also super helpful. They're basically telling you what types of products that are looking for and when and when you should be designing the product, posting the products, and then promoting the products throughout the year. So definitely pay attention to this, to plan out your year. And the types of designs are gonna be posting, the types of products are going to be posting. And when do you can see winter holidays? You're going to want to start actually designing in June, which was kinda crazy, but that's what they're suggesting. So throughout the year, as we'll also put out these creator guides like this wedding guide. They also do them for the holidays. So this just has a wealth of taps and they're literally like walking you through exactly what to do in order to be successful on Sawzall. So definitely pay attention to that. Here they're even giving you like the types of products to put into a collection for an engagement party, a bachelorette party. These are all the different types of products that they're looking for and that customers are looking for for this type of theme. So here we've got pre wedding party products. I mean, this is literally just telling you exactly what to make and what to put into a collection. So this is an extremely useful resource, and they put these out a couple of times a year. So you'll get a notification on your dashboard, on your homepage of your store, on your profile. So definitely pay attention to that and go through these guides when they put them out. So here they also are showing you exactly the types of products that are looking for in collections in order to be featured on the homepage. And they're also really pushing those cover photo thing right now. So if you create custom cover photos for your products, then you have even more of a chance of being featured and having your product stand out more in the Sawzall and marketplace. So they're literally telling you what to do to get promoted. And they've got tips for collections. And they're giving you some more info here about how the youth collections and marketing, how to make salt successful collections and even more so just tons of really, really valuable info here. How to make short videos for social media to get featured. Tons and tons of does really valuable information in these guides. And they also created this handy video guide for creators. So if you are on Instagram or TikTok and you're making short videos to promote your designs or you want to get into that, they're giving you some tips here. Royalty-free music is important if you want them to promote your video. So they tell you how to do that, like literally so much information here that's just super, super valuable to help you be successful on Sawzall. So I think it's really great that they do this. They also announced here when there's new products being launched. And sometimes they'll even tell you like what types of keywords that people are searching for for those specific types of products. So definitely don't skip these forums. Just take a look through when you have a chance. And the holiday guides here are really, really great too. They put these out, as you can see, in October of 2022, they put this one out, so they'll probably do it in October and November every year. And obviously holidays are huge. So this is just like super, super valuable information so that you can maximize your profits on Sawzall AND gate products that people I actually want and are looking for. So I hope this was helpful for you to decide what types of products out to your shop. So as you can see, just doing a small amount of research can really help you to hone in on the types of products to create that are going to work best for your type of designs or artwork. And we'll see you in the next lesson. 16. Final Thoughts: Congratulations, you've made it to the end of the class. Throughout this class, we opened and set up your brand new fossils store.
