1. Intro: Creating products from your art is super fun and satisfying. I love to see my patterns come to life on real life products using print on demand companies like Spoon flower. They make the process super easy by printing and shipping products for you. So you can focus on the things that you love doing, like creating artwork. I've been selling my art through spoonflower since 2021 and with print on demand platforms for over a decade. I've sold thousands of products to people all over the world, and now I want to help you share your designs with the world, as well. Hi, everyone. I'm Julie, and welcome to my class on creating products from your patterns using Spoonflower. In this class, I'll show you how you can upload your pattern step by step to Spoonflower using their new uploader. This class is meant to be a follow up to my other class ten minute pattern design. Where I showed you how to create this sunflower pattern in Procreate. You can follow along with your own seamless pattern design that you've already created. So whether you're brand new to spoon flower or maybe you've used it before, but it's been a while, then this class is for you. In under 10 minutes, you'll have a full line of products featuring one of your designs. By the end of this class, I hope you'll feel inspired to keep creating and uploading your pattern designs to Spoonflower. So get your pattern ready, and let's get started. 2. Uploading to Spoonflower: So jumping right into this tutorial, we're going to head over to spoonflower.com, and then you can sign up for an account if you don't already have one. Otherwise, I'm just going to go ahead and log in. So once you've logged in, you can click on the account icon on the top right of the screen there and then click on Upload a Design. And then you're going to click on Choose files and then you're going to select the sunflower pattern tile that we exported in my previous class. Otherwise, just use whatever pattern you have that you've already created. So now you're going to click on agree and continue. And this you can just click on don't show again. And now, this is the upload screen, and you have file options, proof design, areas to add title description. So the first thing we're going to do is click on where it says, No proof we're going to proof the design first just to make sure that it's tiling and working correctly. So here you're going to click on Start and again, click on Don't Show again and Okay, ready. And then you can see it zooms in, and you can actually just zoom in and out using these buttons or you can use your mouse or you can do this on the iPad, as well. You can just use your fingers to zoom in and out. And then if you check this pink box here, you can turn off the pink lines and then just zoom in and make sure that everything is lining up properly and that your design is, you know, there's no errors or anything. So if you do see any errors, you can click on IC issue and then just go back and replace the file under File Options. So, otherwise, I'm going to go ahead and click on the Looks Good button. And now our design has been proofed. So now I'm just going to fill out the title and description. So I'm adding a pretty simple but descriptive title, which is SEO friendly, which means it's optimized for search, and I'm going to do the same with my description and tags as well. So just think about what kind of words or phrases people might use to search for this design. You may want to search on the Spoonflower website itself to get an idea for the types of keywords that other people are using for similar types of designs. So now scrolling down. So for tags, there's all these drop downs you can select from and choose, like, different styles and patterns and techniques, occasions, et cetera. So make sure you go through these and select any of those that is relevant to your design. So make sure you pick some good, like, SEO friendly tags here and just take your time deciding on tags. You want to just use words and phrases that succinctly describe your design. I'm going to add some additional tags here. So I'm adding things like sunflowers, my main motif, sunflower pattern, yellow, green, which are the colors in our pattern, flowers, nature, botanical, which was actually already under the patterns and techniques section. Illustration, spring. So we're not going to check off mature content. And then if you have any collections, I highly recommend creating collections. So from here, you can go ahead and add it to a collection and hit Save. And then here you can also click on Enter Design Challenge. So Spinflower does these monthly design challenges. So definitely check them out under Artist Corner Design Challenges. So now we're going to click on Edit fabric, and this is where we can change the scale of our pattern. So as you can see, I can just drag up and down, or you can type in a specific number. So think about what your pattern might be used for and the types of products it might be used on, and that might help inform the scale. Also make sure to have the tiling set to basic and then save it and wait for the mockups to update. So then I just like to scroll through these mock ups just to see the size on the product, and then I can adjust it accordingly. And you can also edit the wallpaper as well. So you can click on edit under wallpaper, and then you can change the scale of this as well. But I think I'm going to leave it at this size, and it only lets you scale the wallpaper in certain dimensions. And there's this mock up here that's really helpful as well just to get a sense of the scale. So definitely, think about what would look good as a wallpaper versus other products. You can also click on Edit Thumbnail there, and then decide which thumbnail you want to show up in your actual Spoonflower shop and across the Spoonflower website. So now we're ready to post our design for sale. So I'm going to click on Wire SS for sale and then check off the wallpaper and fabric and home decor option and click Save. So now it should be available for sale in your shop. So if you click on the Avatar and then click on View My Shop and then click on the New Tab. You should see it there. And now, if you click on your design. So here you can check out all the mockups of your artwork on the different product. And this is what you can post as your project for this class. So I encourage you to just take a screenshot of your design on one of these mockups and then you can upload it to the project section below. I think it would be really awesome to see your patterns on the product mockup. So I know this is a quick class. So if you have any questions or come across any problems, please post in the discussion section below the class so that I can help you. So I really hope you enjoyed this class and that you were inspired to upload more of your patterns to spoonflower so that you can sell products of your artwork and have fun doing it. So make sure you're following me here on skill share so you don't miss my next class, and we'll see you there.
