1. Intro: Have you heard the news? Skillshare has a new feature with the offer digital assets available to purchase, just like my rustic farmhouse Procrit bundle set. Here are some of the cool brushes that are included. I created these rustic grungy looks using this very set, and I'd love to show you how to use this set by creating this farmhouse cow. To save some time, I've supplied a Procrit texture sketch file, as well as a color palette. No worries if you don't have this rustic farmhouse Procrit set. I'll give you alternative brushes that you can use that's already installed in Procreate. To create this, you'll need the Procreate app, an iPad, and an Apple pencil. So if you're ready, let's get started. 2. Farmhouse Cow: I also want to mention that if you have a time, you're welcome to sketch your own farmhouse cow that you can use in place of my sketch. Because this class is a short quick tutorial, I wanted to give you the option to get started right away to learn how to color this farmhouse cow. I do want to make note that as we go along, I would love to see your finished project in the projects and resource section of this class. Make sure you download the supplied file. I'm going to be using this color palette that I supplied. You can open it under cards. I do have these colors in numerical order. The texture sketch file already has this background supplied, but I want to show you what I use to create it. Let's start with color 28. Let's tap this layer, then tap fill layer. I'm going to move up to the next layer. I'm going to be using the Grunge two stamp. I'm going to set this layer to multiply and I'm just going to tap the screen. I'm going to go up a layer. I'm going to grab the scratches. Change the color mode here to linear burn. I'm going to use number nine for the color, I'm just going to color all over the background and I'm going to lower that opacity down to about 17. I'm going to add a layer. Let's go to brushes, and I want to go to the Canvas blobs. I'm going to use the same color, and I'm just going to run it all over the background. I'm going to change this to linear burn and lower the opacity to about 59%. I'm going to add a layer. I want to grab the rust brush, change my color to 25, and then I'm going to change that to color dodge and lower it to about 70%. I'm going to do the top left. I'm going to grab the color ten, and I'm going to do the bottom right side. And this is the background. Add a layer. Now, I'm just going to group these all. I am going to grab the gritty sponge brush. I'm also going to grab color number two and you can use the alternative sassafras. I'm going to go turn my drawing guide on to symmetry, tap options and vertical, make sure my drawing assist is on, and I'm going to color this part of the cow along with around the eyes, as well as the ears. I'm fast forwarding some of these areas, so that way it fits within the time slot. I'm going to duplicate this too dark and I'll I'm going to add a layer, grab the fuzzy brush, and you can use the alternative fresco. I'm changing the layer to multiply, turning it into a clipping mask and turning the drawing assist on. I just want to tap over the arrays I just colored just to give it some texture, and you can lower it down if it's too dark for you. I'm going to add a layer. I'm going to change the color to 27. I'm going to grab the concrete grunge brush and you can use the quill brush as an alternative. I'm going to go in the inside of the rest of this cow like this. I'm going to add a layer, turn it into a clipping mask. I'm going to change my color to 15, and I'm going to grab the speckle linen and you can use the alternative Larapuna. I'm going to change the layer to multiply. I'm just going to add some shadows around these curly cues here and around the eyes around the muzzle and the chin, and also on the neck. Going to go and change the brush to haystack. You can use the polygons as an alternative. I just wanted to add a lot more texture into this area. I'm going to add a layer, turn it into a clipping mask, change the blend mode to screen, and change my color to 25 and change my brush to concrete grunge. Again, you can use al as the alternative. I'm just going to highlight some of these areas. I'm going to add a layer, change my color to 28, change my brush to distressed, and you can use the alternative copperhead. I'm just going to go over these horns here. And it doesn't quite show up. But I'm going to grab 29 and just go over them just a little bit more. I'm going to change the blend mode to linear burn just to add some more shadows. Going to change my brush to haystack, add a layer, change my color to 27 and my blend mode to multiply, and I'm just going to go around the edge of his muzzle here. I'm going to change my brush to dotted linen and you can use your alternative honey eater, and I want to use the color 20, and I'm going to color in his nose. Add a layer, change it to multiply. Tap it to clipping mask and I'm going to grab the haystack brush and I'm just going to add some more texture for the nose. And again, you can use polygon as the alternative. I want to add a layer, change it to screen, and I'm going to grab the charcoal grunge. I just want to add some highlights here and you can use the alternative carbon stick brush. Add a layer. I'm going to grab the color too, and I want to grab the gritty sponge. Again, you can use the alternative for sassafras I want to color in his eyes. I'm going to duplicate that. I'm going to add a layer underneath my sketch, turn drawing assist on, and grab the soft grunge and you can use vine charcoal as an alternative. I'm going to color the inside of his ear. Turn that into a clipping mask, going to add a layer, turn that into a clipping mask and change this to soft light. I'm going to go to the color wheel and double tap at the bottom for black. I'm going to use the haystack brush. I'm going to add some shadows for the inner ear, make sure my drawing assist is on. I want to tap the color wheel at the top for white, and I'm going to add some highlights to these ears. Let's go down here to the eyes, grab Color six and I want to go to Rugged Valley. I want to add a layer and turn on the drawing assist. I want to focus on the eyes just a little bit more. I want to add a layer. I'm going to go with color 30. I'm going to tap on drawing assist. I'm going to do the inner and outer of the eye here. I want to grab black and I want to do the nostrils of the cow. And the pupils. I want to add a layer, change it to drawing assist. I want to use the gravel path brush, and you can use the alternative charcoal block. I'm going to grab number ten for the color, and I just want to lower my brush size so I can get in there for the nostrils, and I want to make sure that's a clipping mask. I want to grab the cotton stem brush. You can use the alternative peppermint. I'm going to turn on drawing assist and I just want to draw inside the nostrils just to give it a little bit more depth. I'm going to change my color to four grab the distressed brush and I'm going to go down here to this layer and add a layer on top. I just want to add some colors to this light part of the cow. I'm going to add some more colors. Let's grab 22. And we'll grab 20, grab nine. I'm just going to lower that. Add a layer, turn it into a clipping mask. I'm going to change the blend mode to screen. I want to grab 20 and add a few more highlights. Let's add a layer above the eyes, turn it into a clipping mask and change it to overlay and double tap for black. I just want to do the inner part of this ear and add some white for the highlights. You can also adjust the opacity. I'm going to add another layer above the rugged Valley layer and I want to add some paper texture. This is going to be supplied in your file already, but I wanted to show you how I created it. Let's grab the liner, Let's fill in the eyelashes and you can use the alternative, the script brush. I want to add a layer and go back and grab the distressed brush and change from my blemo to overlay and I want to add more shadows. And let's grab the haystack brush. I want to grab some white. Just to add some more highlights. And there you go. Here's results using the alternative brushes. The top layer of your sketch texture file is called a color value check. This is just a layer that you can double check. The colors that you used in your illustration vary in tone, which then allows you to add some more highlights, shadows or even change the color if necessary. 3.
