1. Introduction: There is no denying that creating video content has become one of the most important ways for freelancers and entrepreneurs to grow their audience, to market their services and ultimately get booked out. But if creating videos is not within your core skill set, trying to figure out how to film yourself, to scripting, to editing. All of that can become quite overwhelming really quickly and actually deter you from starting in the first place. So in this class, I really want to ease you into creating your first video by helping you with all the basics, all the way from planning the goals of your video to scripting to actually filming with just your iPhone. And then we are going to figure out how to edit super easily with the canva video editor. Hello, hello, I'm Cheryl. Here I run a brand and website design business and a YouTube channel called Made on Sundays. And when I actually started my business in 2019, I actually really struggled with consistently booking clients. It actually wasn't until 2020 when I realized that I need to actually start creating content as part of a bigger plan to design a calm and sustainable business with just an iPhone, I actually learned to fill all types of videos and now it has actually become one of my biggest marketing drivers to my business. I believe that every moment, as mundane or simple as it may seem, and your workday, it can actually become a really important part of your brand story. A story that your audience is waiting to see a glimpse of, so that they can get to know more about who you are, what you do, and how you might be the right person for them. So whether you are hoping to just share a glimpse of your day in your life through an Instagram, real, or educate your audience through a YouTube tutorial. I'm going to be taking you with me and showing you how to do it one step at a time. So if you are ready to start romanticizing your business and sharing your work, I am so excited to welcome you to the class. Let's embark on this creative journey together 2. Class Project: Now, in this lesson, let's talk about your class project real quick. So one of the easiest ways to actually showcase your work and your business is through a day in the life video. And I actually recommend everyone to start off with a short-form video, vertical video, either an Instagram, real, or YouTube, or TikTok. It's just going to be a little bit easier because it's shorter to put it all together. Now remember, the point of the class is to remember that there is beauty and something worth sharing even in those simple, mundane moments and your workday, your potential clients are waiting to see a glimpse of it so that they can get to know more about you and your business. So as we go through the lessons, I'm gonna be taking you with me as we learn to plan your video, to script, and to edit your videos. So at the end of the class, you're going to have a full video completed. And I would love for you to share it with everyone in the project section. I cannot wait to see your creations. In the next lesson, we are going to start planning out your video 3. Plan Your Video: In this lesson, let's plan out your video. We are going to be defining our goals and then we're gonna be going through your target audience and then pick out a video format and type that you'll be using for your video. Now unless you're creating video just for fun, which probably isn't the case. If you've landed in this video, then we really need to make sure that we are defining your business goals. For this video, we're here to build an intentional business and brand together. So let's make sure that we are creating a video that will actually help you move your business in the right direction. Alright, let's get started. So if you haven't already, please open up your class resources document, this is totally optional. You can totally do this exercise in your own ocean board on nodes, in a notebook, anything you like. So if you want, you can download this free notion, kind of resources section where you can write down your notes together. Alright, so I'm gonna keep going down here. And the first section is defining your business goal for the videos. So what is the main objective of creating this video and spending all of this time to do this video. Are you trying to promote a specific service or a product, or a different program that you're thinking of launching. Do you want to maybe showcase some of your portfolio or your recent work? Do you want to educate your audience a specific topic? Maybe there is a course that you want to build in the future, but people may not know about that specific topic or niche just yet. So maybe it's your chance right now to start educating them about this topic through your video. Or maybe you're trying to just genuinely grow your audience so that you have more people to speak to who really resonate with your message. Or maybe you're trying to show your personality something that will help them showcase you as an educator or you as a service provider. Or maybe you are trying to kind of gauge the interests levels for a potential project that you want to work on, whatever your goal is, you want to write it down right here. For my video. I'm going to write that I'm going to be promoting my client HQ notion, client management hub. Alright, so that is the main purpose of my video. By the way, you can have one to two different business goals. Try to keep it at a maximum of two main goals. So the next question is, let's define your audience. So who is your ideal audience that you're trying to speak to here? Really talk about their demographics. How old are they? Where are they from? What are their interests? Are they, where are they hanging out at? Are they on social media? Are they on YouTube? Where are they watching content? Typically? And then you want to go through their struggles and their pain points. So these are specific to the product or the services that you are trying to promote here, or something revolving around your business. If you're a copywriter, is there a pain point? The fact that they're just not good at copywriting and they're struggling to speak to their audience or they're struggling to write copy for their website. What are they struggling with in regards to what you are offering? Then finally, what does that solution that you are able to help them with? So for my audience, I target mostly service-based entrepreneurs around two to three years and their business, they are currently getting more client projects, but they're actually finding it really hard to juggle with a unique needs of every project. They may have tried different client and project management softwares and CRMs, but they really want something that can be customized and centralized in one space. They love the combination of beautiful aesthetics and functionality and often do research about different productivity styles from other people. So this is an example of the audience that I have defined for my video. Now it's your turn to fill this out yourself. Alright, next up is your video format. So this is specifically like what kind of video you creating. Are you creating a YouTube video? Long form one. Are you creating a YouTube short and Instagram real, a TikTok, a Pinterest video. What does that video that you're creating? For me? I'm going to be creating an Instagram real short form video. Alright, next up is your video type or style. Now, you could be creating something that is totally unique. But if this is your first video, I would just stick to one of the ones that already works. So for example, a day in the life video, I'm mourning of the live video, night. And the live video is just kind of like a vlog style video where you can talk about your day and showcase what you do in your day. Another example is a how-to or tutorial video. These are very popular on YouTube as a long-form video, even as a short-form video to educate your audience. Next up is an educational real. Now sometimes these might be just you speaking to the camera, talking about something or it might be a tutorial where your screen recording and then talking through like what's happening. That's kind of like an educational real. Next top, you could be using a trending songs. So this I would be cautious about. There's a lot of trending music on Instagram and a lot of them could be your way of getting viral. But our goal here is not to go viral because one of the problems with going viral is that you might not be targeting the right audience. We really want to make sure that we're specifically speaking to this audience right here. So that we're really bringing in people that are really going to be interested in our services, our business, or topic that we are talking about. When you are picking trending songs. And instead of picking video types that are just for fun or to get clouds or grow your audience without a specific goal in mind, we really want to choose trending music that then can be translated into what our goal was. If your goal was to promote your service, how do we actually promote your service using that trending song, alright, so it's time to choose your video style or type. For me. I'm gonna be doing morning in my life or day in the life video. And I've actually chosen a trending song on Instagram. It's called dimple couple, and it's just a background song. So while it is a trending song, I'm just going to use it in the background. And then in the foreground, obviously I'm gonna be doing probably some sort of voice-over where I talked through my morning and the life, which will basically talk about how I use my client HQ in my service-based business. So that's kind of how I'm going to tie these altogether. I'm imagining me like having my morning breakfast or something like that, getting to my computer, opening up my Notion getting ready for the day. And then like I'm showing people kinda clips of how I use client HQ on Notion to set up my day or set up my clients that kinda thing with the dimple couple song in the background. Alright, so my video is planned out. It's your turn. Write down your video style or type. And we can wrap up this little exercise here. Alright, so now that we have a plan of action, in the next lesson, we're going to go to the next section and we're going to actually write your script and your shot list out 4. Scripting & Shot Lists: Alright, in this lesson, we are going to be planning and writing out the script and shortlist for your video. Depending on your video type, you might be writing the script for the texts that appears on the video, or might be what you're saying in the video, or it might even be for the voice-over. Now I really wanna do recommend writing a script out word for word for your videos because this really makes sure that it keeps you, keeps the contents on point. It saves you time from re-shooting again and again. Most importantly, it will make sure that what you're producing is actually going to hit the goal that you originally planned. Alright, so before I started filming this lesson, I actually went ahead and wrote the script for my video here. And I wanted to walk through it with you to kind of give you some tips on how I did it. So if you have downloaded the free resources PDF, you're going to see a little section here that has shot list on the left and then script on the right. But again, you can do this in whatever program you're running this and you can even write it on pen and paper if you really wanted to. Um, but I personally think it's best to write it digitally. So either in whatever notes app you use or even in a Google Doc or something like that. But essentially I have my shortlist kind of like a description of what I'm actually going to be filming on the left-hand side. And then the actual script, like the text on the right-hand side. Now for me, because I'm creating an Instagram real that's about 40 s long. It's, that time is very restricted to how long the song is. So it was really important for me that I actually write down the script so that I can time it to make sure that it hits under 40 s. That's why in my case, it was easier for me to write out the script first and then plan my shot list. But you really want to do what makes you feel comfortable. Some people like to write their shot list first and then write out the script. It just kinda depends on what kind of video you're creating. My video is also really quite short, so it made sense to split out the script by sentences. And then I would basically do an associated shots with each line of the script. Now, I may need more shots in this, so I will shoot like kind of variations of this shot list just to make sure that I have more shots that I need. Because sometimes you might have a shot and you realize the script is actually a little bit longer than expected. So you might need to layer in like two shots per line of the script. Remember, when you're writing your script, make sure you are revealing the target audience and then main goal that you're trying to hit in this video. And making sure that by the end of the script, you are hitting that goal. Alright, so let's get to it. Let's write out your script and your shortlist. And in the next lesson, we are going to finally start shooting with your iPhone. 5. Shoot with Your iPhone: Alright, in this lesson, let's prepare the equipment and you might need, Let's set up your iPhone camera settings and then we're going to actually get to filming your footage. Okay, so first up is your equipment. Now, I highly recommend just filming with your iPhone. I have the iPhone 14 Pro here. You can use whatever version, obviously the newer version, the better the camera. But most of the cameras that they have for iPhones are amazing. So that's really all you need. Next. You will probably need a tripod. Now, I usually use a bigger tripod for cameras. You can get them for really cheap online for under $30. Or you can also get the smaller tripods. These are optional. I would just remember to get something that has a little phone holder. Not all tripods come with it. So you wanna make sure that you're buying one that either comes with it or that you buy an attachment that can be attached to the tripod that you buy. It's really important so that you can kinda sit your phone in here and then put your phone anywhere. Again, I would just go with getting the bigger one first. That's probably necessary if regrown to be filming anywhere in your home, outdoors, wherever. These mini tripods are better, if you have somewhere to sit them like a table or something. Or you can use them for more like vlog style like this. But for the point of this class is video, you're probably not going to be doing a vlog, so these are optional. Alright, Next, we are going to be setting up your camera settings on your iPhone. You're going to head to your Settings area now, and we're just going to scroll all the way down to camera. We're going to click on camera. And we're just going to make sure that all of the settings on your phone are the same as what I have on my phone here. And that's going to give you the highest quality video. So first off, in formats, you want to make sure that you have high efficiency ticked. We're gonna be filming in for k in this class. And so technically, all four K will be converted to high-efficiency anyways, so you want to make sure that that is ticked. We're not going to do pro raw or ProRes four record video. I typically like to film in for K at 480 frames per second. And then I like to make sure that enhanced stabilization is on and everything is basically off, everything else. Then I like to lock my camera as well so that it doesn't switch between the different lenses. Alright, slow-mo, you can do it at ten ADP HD at 240 frames per second. For us. Cinematic mode, I do just ten ADP at 30 frames per second. I don't really recommend filming cinematic farm because sometimes cinematic can create this really beautiful blur, but the same time it doesn't do a great job. Sometimes. Like sometimes your hair might be blurred as well and I don't like that look, so I usually don't use cinematic mode. I turn on stereo sound. I turn on QR code, show detected texts. I turn on the grid. I turn off the mirror front camera, but that's really just up to you. Personal preference. Turn on view outside the frame. That's more for camera. Prioritize faster shooting lens correction. And macro control is on. Alright, that's really it. And those are your settings for the highest quality video. Alright, so once you have all of your camera settings set up, you are ready to start shooting. Now if this is your first time shooting, it might feel a little awkward. You might get a little sweaty. But that's totally natural. I promise you, if you just practice more, you're gonna get a lot better over time. But I do have a couple of tips for you as we get into shooting your footage. So first off, if you are shooting with your iPhone, then there's two sides of the camera. There's the front-facing camera and then there's the back facing camera. If you're shooting with your front-facing camera, you want to make sure that you are actually looking at the lens itself. I know what the front-facing camera, it's a lot easier because you can see yourself. But while you're actually filming, you want to make sure that you look straight at the lens because this is what it will look like if I'm looking at myself instead, looks like I'm slightly just not looking at the camera or at the audience. You want to make sure that you are always looking straight at the lens. Now, tip number two, if you are able to, you can actually use the back facing camera and it's actually going to give you a better quality video. The back camera actually has like three lenses for the iPhone 14 Pro, as opposed to just the one lens on the front facing lens. And that will actually give you a better picture quality. If you can set up your phone, prompt on a tripod, get someone else to maybe help you frame it, or you can frame it yourself and then run forward and start filming. You're able to do that. The back facing camera is actually much higher-quality. In my case, I usually just Film and Forky with a front-facing camera just because I think it's a lot faster and quicker to just be able to see myself so that I am, I know that I'm always in-frame. Alright, the next tip is if you are filming B-roll. So let's say you're filming yourself typing on a laptop or something. You want to make sure that you are playing around with shooting at different angles. Maybe you want to try zooming all the way in and filling like a really close-up shot of your fingers typing. Or maybe you want to experiment with zooming out a bit and having more background. Having this variety of different shots for like different angles of one shot can actually create a lot of cool visual effects to your video. So maybe try just filming all different angles, bring it into your video editor and then seeing which one works. Or maybe even combining a few of the different angles to create a really cool effect. The next tip is lighting. You want to make sure that there is lots of natural light in the room that you're filming in, maybe a big window or something like that. The best angle for where you want the light to be coming in is actually at 45 degrees from your face. But if it's coming from the side or if it's coming in front of you, that's totally fine. The only option is let's hope it's not coming from the back because that will become backlit. Your face will be the darker side. Now, the iPhone is actually really, really great at stabilizing the footage to make it look a lot brighter. But the more it has to digitally brighten your footage because of low lighting, the lower the quality of your video. So you wanna make sure that your iPhone isn't working overtime by bringing in more digital light into your footage. You can help it out by being beside more natural light or filming on a sunnier day. Now, for the last tip is remember we are trying to romanticize your everyday work day. Now I know there are so many things that you do in a day that are not sexy at all. But you'd be surprised how sexy and image can look with some background music. I'm put into it. So let's give our intention and appreciation to all of those small mundane moments and try to find the beauty within all of them. Alright, now I can talk all day about different ways of filming, but we're really trying to just get your first video out here. So let's be confident and let start filming. In the next lesson, we're going to learn to record your voice-over 6. Record a Voiceover: Now in this lesson, we are going to be recording your voice over. Now I know not all videos need a voice over, so if yours does not, then you can go ahead and skip this lesson if you want to. But depending on what kind of video you're filming, you might want to record your voice over after you edit. But in my case, I'm actually going to be creating a trending video on Instagram real and that trending music, that song that I'm using is only 40 s long. So I need to make sure that my voice-over actually falls under 40 s to make sure that the whole clip will fit within that Instagram song. So in that case, I'm actually going to be recording now before I edit the video. Alright, so to start recording, I am going to actually bring out my iPhone again and we are going to be opening up the voice memo app. You'd be surprised how good the iPhone mikes are. And I actually always do my voice rovers right in the iPhones. So no need for mikes or any other application. Literally just use the voice memo app. When you're ready, all you do is click record and start recording. Now I know it's going to probably take you a couple of times. It takes me like many times before I actually get the recording usually now sometimes you have a time limit because maybe your Instagram song is only 40 s and you need to make sure that your voice, voice recording is falling under 40 s. You're going to probably be recording a couple times to make sure that you fall under that time limit. You might realize that your voice recording is too long or script are too long or you're starting to sound a little bit robotic in that case, yeah, you're just gonna have to film a couple more times to make sure that you kinda tweak those things. Alright, Once you are done your voice recording, you're going to send that over to your computer and bring it over to your Canva video editor. In the next lesson, I'm gonna be showing you how to record a screen recording with a little talking bubble on the slide. 7. Screen Record with Talking Bubble: Alright, so in this lesson, we are going to film a talking bubble, just like you see on the screen right here. You're going to have a screen recording with the talking bubble head right here. And we can actually now do that right on the Canvas Editor. So let's get started. Alright, so we're on Canva now and we're going to create a design. And I'm just going to type in YouTube video because for most of this screen recordings you're probably going to use it for YouTube. And then it's going to open up a horizontal or landscape view like this, which is perfect. And we're going to head into uploads here. And we're actually going to click on this button called record yourself, which is often missed by a lot of people. I don't know why it's there because it's really hard to find, but it is there. I'm just going to close that one out for now. So it's not as confusing, but essentially, once you click on record yourself, it will open up the video creation studio. And in the top right here you can pick your settings so you can choose which cameras you want to use. So if you want to plug in a webcam, you can do that and choose that. You can choose your mix if you want to. I'm just going to use a default built-in of my MacBook. And then if you click on camera and screen, you can actually choose, if you want to pick a tab or window or the entire screen that you're sharing. For me, I'm going to choose a tab. So I'm going to choose this one right here. And that will open up a little pop-up of the screen that you are going to be recording. So if you want to just head back into the Canvas editor or you can just click on View tab. And then we are going to just check if everything looks good. You can at this point move where your head is at will go. You can also choose to change it, the mirror view and then I'm just going to place it right at the very edge here. And then when you're ready, you can actually hit record. You can head back into that tab and it'll show the screen that you're recording. So now we are recording mode. You can scroll through your page, checkout the different pages, and it'll keep recording. And just so you know, right now, as you can see, you can't see the bubble. The bubble will be there so you can keep talking to the camera and it will still be recording. I'll show you your face will still be there. So that is a really weird feature where you can actually see your bubble while you're recording, which is kind of annoying, but well, it's free. So I think hopefully that's something that they will update in the future. But if you want to go back to your tab and let's say you are done recording. You can actually hit pause if there's something that you want to pause on and then hit Continue again and then just continue recording. And then when you're done, you can hit Done and click on Save and Exit. And I'll actually save those clips into your uploads area as two separate files. One will be the recording of your bubble and one on a separate recording will be the recording of your screen. So that's actually pretty helpful because maybe sometimes you just want, want to use a bubble. Sometimes you want to switch to the full-size video or whatever it might be, then you can do that. Anyways, I am going to make this video bigger, so it takes up the whole screen. And then I'm going to move my bubble where I want to go. Oops. My bubble here. Think that looks pretty good. Okay. So this is the recording right now. Let's watch it really quickly together just to see the quality and the screen that you're recording. So now we are recording mode. You can scroll through your page, um, check out the different pages. Okay. So there you have it. I do want to note one thing though that the when you export, so let's say you go and download the video. You want to download it as MP4 video. If you're using it for YouTube, you can do for K. But I do want to note that the screen record, the bubble recording is really, really high definition. But for some reason the screen recording on Canva is not very high resolution. So even if you try to export into four K, um, for now, it's not going to look very good. So I'm just going to download this really quickly and then we can kind of see it together afterwards and kind of view the quality of it. As you can see, this is an example of the four K quality of Canada that I've downloaded and you can watch it really quickly just to see the quality of it, the screen that you're recording. So now we are recording mode. You can screw. So as you can see, it's a bit grainy on the screen side, but on the video cameras side, it's actually pretty good quality. If the like, most of the time it's probably okay to be a little bit grainy depends on what kind of tutorial you're giving. You're doing a design tutorial. Obviously you're going to want to make it like super high res. But if it's just more like a tech tutorial, maybe it's not as important that you see every single like granule on the screen. So if you want a better quality screen recording app, I highly recommend loom. It's the one that I use for all of my screen recording videos on YouTube. So if you've watched any of my other YouTube videos, this is the app that I use personally because you can fill in for K quality if you are on a fork, a screen, or ten ADP, the quality of it is just so much better. I do use the business plans, so these are the prices right now. Per month. It's totally worth it. I use it for client work as well as for, for YouTube. So I use it almost every single day, at least every single week. So it's really, really worth it. So checkout loom, it's going to include the loom link inside the course resources document as well. Up next, we're going to set up your canvas video project 8. Set up your Canva Video Project: Alright, so starting on this lesson, we are going to go through all of the different features that are available to edit your video on the Canvas video editor. Now, keep in mind that you may not use all of the features that I tell you, but I do recommend going through all of the lessons, just watching them once through, and then you can decide which the lessons you might want to re-watch to help you with editing your specific video. So depending on which kind of video you're editing, whether it's a YouTube video tutorial or a shorter shorts or Reels video. You might want to decide on different types of edits. So let's just go through all of them once and then you can decide which one works best for you. Alright, so we are in the Canvas platform now and we're just going to click on video right here at the very top. And we're going to choose our video format type. So for me, I'm actually going to be creating a real, so I'm just going to click on real here. And first things first, we are going to drag in all of our footage and our audio into the upload space here. So if you click on Upload, I'm gonna go to my tab here and just going to literally drag in all of my clips. Alright, so as it populates into this space, I'm actually going to just explain how the editor works here. So the very bottom here, as you can see, you know that this is a video format file on Canva because there is this timeline down here. So essentially this timeline will be what you drag your footage into, and it will eventually create different layers. If you have an audio layer, if you have a video layer, if you have a text layer or some other layer on top. So essentially you can kind of like layer things on top of each other. So to give one example, you can just grab a shot here and you can place it right into this space. And as you can see here, it will create that footage space here. And if you grab another one, you can actually put it like before or after this footage and it'll go into the next clip here. If you have an audio file, go into audio here. And I'm going to drag this end. You can actually drag it right into this little drop music section. And it will actually play, create a separate line for audio here. So this is a video editor space. If you go into elements here, you can actually look up a lot of free video footage that you can use from the Canvas Editor to a lot of them. If you see this little crown image, it is only for the Pro account. So if you pay for Canva, you can use everything. But if you don't pay for a Canva account, there are lots of different footage that you can use here as well for perhaps like a B-roll. For example, this one might be a great footage. I mean, I'm clearly not white, so you can just go like something like this. And so you can kind of play around with the B-roll footage and see if there's like a shot that kinda works with what you need. Now, I do always recommend when you're creating social content to just use like footage that you film yourself. It's always best because then it will look like the same style of n type of video. It's just best to record your own thing, but you can always feel free. For example, for B-roll to come into here and grab some stock video images as well. Alright, and now everything is ready to start editing. In the next lesson, we're going to learn how to split and trim your footage 9. Trimming & Splitting Footage: Alright, so in this lesson, we are going to learn how to trim and split footage on the video camera editor. We are back on camera right now. And I just gone ahead and added a couple more shots into the timeline. And basically, when you're filming, sometimes you're like walking into the shot or like you're walking out of the shot. You want to make sure that those are edited out of the videos. So for example, if you play the video clip here, you see that beginning part where I am basically just setting up the cameras so we want to edit that footage out. So what we're gonna do is we're actually going to go ahead and hover over the beginning of the clip and just literally drag, and that will actually cut out that video footage in the beginning. So I'm just going to slowly drag it until I feel like it's at the, starting at the right spot. So somewhere in there. And then let's just play it. So as a shortcut, you can actually click on spacebar to play the footage and also pause the footage really quickly. Alright, so let's just play it. And then there's this end part where I also stopped the video clips. So I definitely want to cut that out as well. So you can use your Spacebar and just pause it where you want it to stop, maybe somewhere there. And you can go ahead and hover over the end part of the video clip and literally just drag it until it kind of locks into place of where you want it, the footage to end. So let's watch that in full again just to make sure it looks good. Yeah, I like that. So that's how you cut a footage short from the beginning and the end. But what if there's something in the middle of the clip? Let's say this clip right here. And I want to cut out like a specific portion of the video. So let's just say I don't like, let's see. Let's see, let's watch this video. Let's just say in the middle here, I wanted to skip over a section, right? So I'm gonna go, Let's just say starting from here, I want it to and cut out this middle section here. So what you can actually do here is where you want it to start cutting out. I'm going to hit on these little three dots here and we're going to click on Split page. And this will actually split your footage into two. And now you can hit play again with Spacebar. And we're going to pause where you want it to start again and say it's right there. I am going to again hit Split page. And then now you have this middle section that you wanted to remove. So all you have to do is click on this and just click on Delete Page, and then you're good to go. So now that middle clip right there is now removed. So that is how you split a page. You can also use that to split a page. If let's say you wanted to just add something in-between the footage. Like let's say there's an image here that goes between the footage. But in most scenarios, this is because you want to remove a certain part of the footage in the middle of the footage, alright, and that is how you trim and split footage on the video Canva editor. In the next lesson, we are going to explore how to add and B-roll 10. B-Roll & Images: In this lesson, let's learn how to add in your B-roll. Now if you don't know what B-roll is, B-roll is basically like secondary footage, where you can add it on top of your primary footage or a role to create a better story. So let's say you're filming a video of you talking about your vacation in Mexico, then instead of just having yourself filming yourself talking about it, you might want to then add in some clips from your, your trip to Mexico just to give people a better look at what you're talking about visually. That's secondary footage is called B-roll. And we're going to learn how to slot in those roles within the Canvas editor. Alright, so let's head back into Canva now. And to better show this, I'm actually going to create a YouTube video. So I'm going to go into video here. And I'm just going to click on this one right here, which will give you like a horizontal video view. And so we are going to then add in some footage. I'm gonna go to upload here, and I'm just going to add in some footage to demonstrate this, the role situations. This is a video from my last YouTube video. So I'm just going to drag this in here and slot it in. And then it's basically I've just me talking about here. I'll show you a little bit panel. I'm just me talking through my intro. Let's say in the middle of this clip, you want to like slot in this video right here. So unfortunately, on the Canvas Editor you can't just have like an additional layer and just swap this video and just like that, you can just put it in because it will actually replace the footage. And in fact, um, you can even put it into here because again, it will also just be a second layer here. And it will actually, if you put this video clip over here, it's going to take over the audio as well. And that's not what we want. We want to make sure that the audio and the role is kept and then the B-roll is just the footage on top. So what we're gonna do is we're going to play this video to where we want the B-roll to come in. So I'm just going to play this video right now and choose where the starting point of the B-roll should be. Okay, Let's just say I want the B-roll to start here. What we're gonna do is we're going to split this video here are m. What we're gonna do is we're actually going to go to elements. And we're going to add a grid here. This grid here. We're going to add it to this one right here. So I'm just going to click on this. And you're going to see that it's going to take over the whole screen. But don't worry, it's all going to work out. What we're gonna do next is we're going to go back to our uploads. And I'm going to drag in that B-roll footage right here. And what we're gonna do is this B-roll image is right now in that that canvas that we canvas element that we dragged in. So we want to make sure to remove the volume of this video right here because that's B-roll footage. So I'm going to just click on mute. And that will remove the audio of this video. And then what we're gonna do is we're actually going to click on this video and we're going to right-click it. And we're going to go to show timing. And this will allow you to see this clip as a separate line. What we're gonna do is we're going to actually cut down this B-roll footage so that it is the length of the actual B-roll footage, which is 12 s long. So I'm just going to cut this down to approximately 12 s long. And we're going to, as you can see here, now, this footage has become B-roll. Just going to drag this over. And the next clip, it goes right back into your a roll footage. And let's just play it once and just make sure that all of the audio and the video works perfectly. Hello guys, welcome back to my channel. I'm Cheryl here at the mate on Sundays studio. And I talk all about branding, design, and create a function. Then we have the B-roll come in. So if you are growing your dream business right now, that the shirt, now if you want to make it even shorter, because that B-roll clip is quite long. You can also do that and you can actually dragon. Just reduce it wherever you need it to. And you can actually now drag it on top of your footage wherever that B-roll needs to be. So as you can see here, this is a little bit of a hack to get like two separate lines of footage going at once, ascribed to all alone. And there we go. We have the B-roll come in, so just drag it where you needed to and then you have your B-roll in. So if you want to add an image to your footage, you're gonna do a similar thing. So I'm just going to go back and hide the timing. And then let's say your image starts here. What you can do is the same thing. So you're gonna go to that part actually a little bit later. Let say there. I'm going to split the footage again, and then I'm going to add the image in here. Let's say we want the slushy me in here. And we're going to put it where we want it to. And then you're going to see that that sashimi image actually shows up everywhere. So like on the whole clip, but let's say you only want it until here. You're going to have to split the image there again. And then we're just going to remove it from this footage here. So now we can see that the image only shows up on this portion of the video. Alright, so let's watch this video in full really quickly and just make sure that it all looks good. Although branding, design, and creative entrepreneurship on this channel, we have the B-roll come in ordering business right now, that'd be, and then we're going to have the image pop up. Alright, I hope that was helpful. That is how you add an B-roll and images on top of your a roll footage. Now, in the next lesson we're going to look at video effects and adjustments to change the look of your video 11. Video Effects & Adjustments: Alright, in this lesson, Let's go over the effects and adjustments that you can make within the Canada video editor. So I'm back on my YouTube clip here, and I'm just going to click on the clip that I am working on. So let's say this first, initial clip here. And you can go into edit video right here. And there are a bunch of different tools here that we can play with. So first off, the easiest one is to just add a filter. There are so many that you can play with here. Let's say we want this to be a little bit warmer. You can pick one of the warm ones. I do think that you will need to kinda play with intensity because a lot of them will be quite intense when you first put it on. So you can adjust your intensity here if you'd like. Make it even black and white and that works as well and maybe lower down the intensity a little bit. I typically don't use filters because I find them quite like too much and it looks not natural. So I like to actually go into adjustments here. It is in Beta. So by the time you're watching this course, they may have a few updates here. Canva changes all the time. So be sure to let me know in the questions are in the discussion section. If you have any questions, if there's any updates that you don't really understand about. So right in here, we can actually go in and adjust the warmth level here. So instantly it looks so much more warm and the footage, and I really actually love how that looks. So you can also adjust the tint, but this is, again, is not something that I would recommend doing. I think it looks pretty unnatural unless you're doing some special effects. You can adjust the lighting here, which I think this looks pretty good. Adjust the contrast. Sometimes I like to lower the contrast a little bit. That's just a personal preference. With highlights. What highlights is, is anywhere where there is a highlight, Let's say right here and my arm and the skin. The highlight will either darken it or brighten it anywhere that's brighter on the screen, you can either lower or brighten it. If it's a shadow, let's say right here, that will adjust this shadow section. So either you want to bring light to the shadow or darken the shadow. It's really up to you. You can play around with the settings and just see how the adjustment looks. Can also play with the vibrance and up the vibrance a bit. All of the colors on the screen will become a lot more vibrant. I do like how that looks, so we're going to keep that. And then we can play with fade if we want to. I usually don't play with that. Saturation. Sometimes you might want to make it more moody, maybe lower the saturation a little bit or higher it, I typically play with a little bit lower, just like a tiny bit. And then there's also like a venue or vignette. I don't know how to say this word, but basically it makes the edges a little bit darker, which could be a really cool like fact that you can add on. So those are all the different effects that we can play with. Now, instantly the footage actually looks a lot better already. This is the original edits, so it's quite like cooler. But now with the edits, it looks a lot more warmer. Let's just look at it real quick. Welcome back to my channel. Yeah, I really actually love how that looks. Yeah, that is how you can go in and start adjusting your footage and create a different mood or vibe for your video. Now, in the next lesson, once you have finished all of your adjustments, let's figure out how to add transitions between each video 12. Video Transitions: Alright, in this lesson, let's talk about video transitions. So whether you are making a YouTube video or even a short-form video, sometimes you want to have one transition of one clip to another with a cool effect. And you can actually do that right on Canvas as well. So let's just say, let's watch this video together. I'm going to go from this into the typing clip here. And maybe I want to add a transition in between. So if you just hover between two, any footage, you can see there's this little button called Add transition. And there's a ton of transitions that you can play with. So if you just hover over it, you'll kind of see like what all the transitions are. Now, I'll be honest with YouTube videos, I like to keep it quite minimal lipstick with the YouTube transitions. So usually I'll just put no transition, so it'll just go to the next clip. But with Instagram Reels, it might be fun to have transitions between each clips. So you might want to do something like a slide like this. And when you click into it and you'll actually see more adjustments. So you can make the duration smaller or shorter, make it faster, which direction it goes. Maybe the whole clip goes like this. And that's the effect you want to do, then we can actually do that. So why don't we try that? We'll put in a transition here as well. And we'll do the same slide and it's going to go up. And then I'm going to go back in here on the next one and then it's going to go left. And then it's gonna go to the next transition and then we're gonna go down. So let's watch this clip really quickly and see how that transition actually changes the effect of the video. So now it's moved over. And then we're gonna go into the next clip. That's really cool. And then we're gonna go into the next clip. So that's a cool way you can play with transitions in order to make a video a little bit more unique. One other thing I wanted to show is there is this really cool match and move effect here. Which means that if there are identical elements within one thing, it will actually move and transition to the next one. So let's just bring in like a sticker or something. Let's just say I want to put in this, let's see. Let's put in like an animated sticker of some sort. Let's say we have this arrow. Okay, So we're going to make this arrow a little smaller. And I'm just going to bring this arrow down here. And we're going to copy this over into the next slide here. And I'm just going to make it move over to the right side here. Alright, so in this transition, Let's see what happens. We have the arrow. Do you see how that arrow moved over to the right-hand side? That is this effect right here, match and move. So if there is a unique icon or elements or text or whatever that is identical in the next slide, it will actually mimic it and move that over in a smooth fashion. So that's a really cool transition that you can definitely think of really unique creative ideas to utilize that transition. Alright, and that is how you add video transitions between each shot. In the next lesson, we're going to look at adding music now 13. Music & Sound Effects: Alright, in this lesson, let's find some music and sound effects to bring it into the video editor. Now there are actually a couple of places where you can find music. But one of the most important things when you are choosing music to bring into social media content or YouTube, or anywhere where there it's like a public forum. You need to make sure that you are not infringing any copyright claims, meaning that you're using music that is license for you to use, and ideally is royalty-free. Now there really aren't a lot of free options out there, but one of my favorite places to find these free audio that you can use in social media or on YouTube is actually Pixabay. This is a website where you can usually get really beautiful photography, but most people actually don't know that you can actually get really nice music and sound effects as well. So if you go into here, you can click on music and you can go through their huge catalog of music. Or easier would be to probably pick one of their kind of themes here. Let's say we wanna do like vlog music. We can then Just play it and see if it works for. For your video. You can also search it up. What type of music that I love to use in my videos is actually bossa nova movies music. So let's see what options they have here. That is really loud. Okay? So that's actually a really cute song. Let's see this one. Okay, I like that too. What's that first one here? Okay, I love that. Let's see this one. I really love this one. So if you love one of the songs that you've found, you can definitely go ahead and download it. And it's going to download right into your files here. So that works perfectly. Then what we're gonna do is maybe if you want to look for some sound effects, you can also head into sound effects here and find some effects. Let's say you wanna do something like birds chirping. Let's say if we find some cute birds chirping. Okay? I really loved that. Sometimes birds chirping is a great effect to just add like calm to your video. So I'm going to download that in. Now. If you don't want to use Pixabay, there's actually a lot of paid options to. One of my favorite paid options is actually Epidemic Sound, which is subscription that I paid for. They have a way bigger. I'm kinda collection of music and sound effects. So all of the music that you hear in the background of my YouTube videos and some of my Skillshare classes are from epidemics. So definitely check out epidemic. I'm going to include their link in the class resources PDF as well as Pixabay. So both options, free or paid will be on that document. Another option is to actually look for music within the Canvas Editor. So if we head back into Canva here and you go to elements, and we're going to scroll down into this until you find audio. Here it is. So there's audio right here. And they actually have lots of music here that you'll be able to use as well. Now, most music here will require a Canva pro account. I think maybe all of them actually. Now that I see that if you have a Canva pro account, then all of this music is actually from epidemic, not all of the music on epidemics. So if you already are paying for Canva, you might as well just use the music that's here. But if you don't have Canva pro account, you can either use Pixabay or pay for Epidemic Sound. So I'm going to bring in the songs that we downloaded from Pixabay and I'm going to upload them into the uploads area. And let's see how we can add this background music into this clip here. This is the clip of me talking and I want to put that cute waiting music at the background of this whole clip. So I'm going to drag it into a second line here. I'm just going to play it really quickly just to see how it sounds. As you can hear right now. The music is way louder than me talking. So what I'm gonna do is this is already at full volume. So what I'm gonna do is actually bring the volume of my audio down. So I'm going to click on this, and I'm going to click on volume here and just bring it all the way down. We'll start at 30 and see how that sounds. So it's still too loud, so we're going to bring it even more down. Maybe at nine and let's see how that sounds like. It's still too much. Now, keep in mind that my video clip, the audio is a little bit quiet. So this was probably a bad choice. But let's just see if it's okay at too low, you guys. Okay. Back to my channel. I'm Cheryl. That's a lot better, so I like that. And then let's add in that birds chirping music. So let's just add in that as well. And obviously again, we're going to bring this all the way down as well. Just want a little bit of that kind of scenic nature vibe in the beginning. Hello, hey guys, welcome back to my channel. I really loved that effect. I'm going to bring it down even more though, because that's a little bit too many birds for me. Let's just see how low you guys welcome back to my channel. I'm Cheryl here. Okay, I really loved that. So there we go. That's how you add in music into your clip here. If you want the music to be shorter, like maybe not, the whole video has this particular song. You can always drag it to where you needed to go. And one thing is sometimes you want to fade in or fade out the music. You can actually do that as well. So if you click on the three dots here and go to Audio Effects, you can actually make it fade out. So as you can see here, this is going to fade it out and transition into the next video. So let's just listen to that real quick. And I talk all about branding, design, and creative entrepreneurship. As you can hear, the music faded out really nicely. So that's a really cool added feature there. Maybe you want to add in another song. Let's go into audio again. We're just going to bring in one of these. I'm going to add this audio clip here. And again, we're going to bring the volume all the way down. I'm going to bring it down to one. And then I'm gonna do the same thing. And I'm going to transition the audio effect. And I'm going to make it fade in. So now it's fading in and out. At this clip here, Let's see how that sounds panel, I'm Cheryl here at tomatoes with a studio and I talk all about branding design. And then the other song channel is going to fade in your dream business right now that the shirt, that's perfect. These are actually really, really handy features on the camera video editor and makes it so much quicker to add in your audio in a very professional way. Now one other really cool feature that we have is called beat sync, which is new to the Canvas editor. So I'm actually going to go into this clip right here because it's a little bit shorter. It's our real that I was creating. These clips are a little shorter, so let's just say we bring in a song. Let's look for a song here. Um, so let's go into the audio and we're going to look for something like upbeat. Okay, I like this one. This one has a very distinct B2 and it goes to know, don't, don't, don't, don't to do. We want to make sure that the video clips sync to this song right here. So I'm going to add this n, and this will come in handy when you're creating like, let's say TikTok or Instagram Reels. And you want to make sure that your video is sinking to the audio. So that's what we're gonna do here. We're going to try to do it. So let's, let's try it out. So we're going to click on beat sync here. I'm going to actually bring the audio down a little bit so it's not so loud. As you can see right now, the song actually starts here, so I'm going to actually cut it down. I'm going to bring this over. So as you can see right now, it's not sink. So I'm gonna say if I do beat sync, Let's see if it will sync together in a nice manner. Let's see. Okay, so it's already done. Let's see what it did. Okay. Changed. Okay. Okay, that's pretty good. So with this new beat sync feature, all you have to do is really just turn it on. It's going to sink your video footage to your audio. So again, this will be super helpful if you're making a real or TikTok and you have a trending song you really want to use and make sure that those clips actually fit in. So now you don't even have to do the trimming yourself. Canvas gonna do it right for you, right to the feet, which is also, alright, the next lesson now we're actually going to look into how we use Instagram's trending music and bring that into the Canvas Editor 14. Edit Trending Instagram Music in Canva: Alright, in this lesson, let's talk about using Instagram's trending songs. Now, if you have an Instagram account and you're hoping to create an Instagram real, then you want to make sure that you are on a creator account. Because with the creator account, you're gonna be able to access all of Instagram's music and be able to use it in your videos and you wouldn't have any licensing issues. Now if you want to bring more exposure to your videos and one really unique way is to actually use some of Instagram's trending music. So in order to find trending music, you want to just hop onto Instagram here. I'm just going to open up my Instagram and literally go to your explorer feed. And just keep scrolling. And if you keep hearing the same song over and over again, and you can actually click into the song. Let's say this song right here is the sound that I kept hearing on my feed. You can actually see how many refills have actually use this song. In this case, almost 89,000 reels uses this dimple couple song, which is like a lot of videos. So you know that this song is probably trending. And in my case, I really want to use this trending song in my Instagram real, one important note about using Instagram music as you want to make sure that you are actually adding in the song inside the Instagram video editor. Now this is because when you add the song directly on the Instagram video editor, Instagram will know exactly what song you're using. And also, you'd be able to like if people were looking up this song. As you can see here, you can see this whole feet of people using this exact song. Your video will also show up on this feed. And the only way instagram will know that this is the song that you're using and not just you bringing in that song from somewhere else. If you add the song directly in Instagram. But the only problem with that is if you are editing the video on your camera, video editor, you don't have that exact same song in on Canvas. So how do we bring in that song from Instagram to Canada? And then upload it into Instagram and add the song within Instagram. Okay, that was a whole mouthful. Let's just go through it really quickly. So basically what I'm gonna do is I'm actually going to record that audio onto my phone. So make sure to have that. You can do it on your laptop or on your phone, but sometimes the audio clip that's taken is different on your laptop, so I don't really know why, but the mobile one is always correct. So I'm just going to make sure that I open the same audio on my phone. And I'm going to open up my voice notes app. And I'm just going to click on record and then go play the song really quickly. Let's do that together. Then we're going to stop the recording. We're going to hit Done. So now we have that recording recorded and just compare Here there. So now I'm going to send this over to my computer and then we're going to have a copy of that song. So obviously the recorded version of the song isn't going to be as high-quality as the actual songs. So that's okay. It's just for reference while we are editing it onto Canvas. Okay, now that we have the recording here, I'm just going to bring that song into this audio section here. This space in the beginning, as you can see, this is the volume of the music. This beginning space is just me like recording the screen. So I'm just going to remove that section. That's where the song begins. I'm just going to drag that and trim it and then bring that all the way to the beginning. So that's where the song starts. And let's just say, Well actually let's listen to it real quick. Perfect. And we're going to use beat sync again to sync this up with our, with our visuals. And just with a click, it is now synced up. Let's look at that real quick. Now it is also linked up, perfect. Let's just say we want to bring in another layer here and we have a voice-over. So I'm just going to bring in a new voice-over recording here. I'm going to bring in this file over here, and I'm just going to bring in this audio clip right here in another layer. So let's play this real quick. This is somebody in my life. So that's really, really loud. So I'm just going to bring that down a little bit. And I'm bringing the song down as well. This is a morning my life as a student. This morning I start off my day with the base much I left. Perfect. So the music definitely needs to be a lot lower here. But we're just going to adjust that here. Just as reference. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. This morning I start off my day with an ice matcha latte. Okay, Perfect. Let's just say we've all edited this through and all sounds great. What we're gonna do next is we're actually going to go ahead and mute this music, not the voice-over file because we want the voice-over to be showing, but we're going to mute the music volume just because we're going to actually add in the music from the Instagram side. We're going to have just the video with the other morning, my voice-over now. And we're going to download this file. So we're going to download it as an mp4, okay, once that video is downloaded, I'm actually going to send that over to my phone. So let's just AirDrop it into my phone here. And we're going to bring that clip into Instagram. So we're going to use audio. And then we're going to go ahead and bring in that clip. Right? So that is a clip. And we're going to go to next. And then we're actually going to make sure that we hear the voice-over. So we're going to click on the little music notes at the very top, the second bubble here. And we're gonna go to controls. Oops, go to controls. And we're going to bring down the song, and we're going to increase the voiceover. There we go. If they can hear. Morning, I start off my day with perfect. So just adjust the audio until you can hear the voice-over really well. And then you have the music in the background. Let's hear it once. Scheduling the tasks and assign them to the right person. And then that's how you bring in your Instagram music into your Canva video editor. You can adjust your and edit your video within the Canvas editor and then bring it right back into Instagram, making sure that you are still using the Instagram Music features. I hope that was helpful. And in the next lesson we're going to look at how to add text, animations and other elements 15. Text, Elements & Animations: Alright, in this lesson, let's look up how to add some texts, some animations, and some other elements in your video. So first off, let's add texts. So in this beginning of my video, I am going to just play it really quick and see what we can add there. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. Alright, so this video right here, I'm actually going to see if I can make this longer. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer this morning, okay. Right here, I'm actually going to add some text here that says like day in the life or something like that. So you can use your brand fonts if you want. You can use some of Canvas like template fonts. A lot of them are pro features, but if you want to just do one of their free fonts, you can just hit text-box there. And I'm gonna make this like size 50 or something like that. And you can go through their fonts here that are, that are free. So let's see what fonts are free here if you keep scrolling down, those are my uploaded fonts, but here anything that does not have the little crown are free fonts. I'm just going to go through here and see if there's anything that looks cute. I think there was one up here that I was using. I think this one is free. Okay, so let's just pretend that this is a free font. You use whatever font you like. And I'm going to put a day in my life. And I'm going to put As, and I'm going to put that in another font. I'm actually going to use my brand font here. And I'm going to put freelance designer and put that there. Okay, Let's just say something like that. So let's just play that real quick and see how that looks. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. So there are a couple of things you can do with texts. On Canva. You can click on the text and see what kind of effects come up. So click on effects here. And what I like to actually do is add the lift. And that creates a tiny bit of a shadow behind the text and it makes it actually a lot easier to read. So that's one hug that I like to do with all of my texts. If you want to make it even thicker, like you can add neon or I don't know, glitch or something and just make it even more or add a background even to make it even easier to see. And if you do this background, you can actually change the color here. So again, I might want to add a little thing there and let's just watch that real quick. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. So there are some ideas for you. Again, go into effects and just kinda play with all these different things. You can actually make the texts curve as well, which I'll show also really like this feature. Let's see. I'll make this just a little bit curved like that. And, um, make this no curve. Okay, let's see how that looks. This is a morning my life as a freelancer, that looks really good. One other thing you can do with taxes, you can add animations to it now as well. So if you click on Animate, you can actually go ahead and add these little animations to it. So if you hover over it, you'll see what it does. For this one. I think I really loved this typewriter effect. And when you click into it, you can actually change up the speed as well. So this one is going to be pretty fast. And then you can do on Enter or you can even do the word like that, which is even faster, which I think, I think I'm gonna do that. Then for this text, I think I wanted to like arise like that. But on Let's see how that looks. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. This morning, a startup. Okay, That looks really cool. I actually really like that. So, yeah, definitely play around with the different effects and animations and see how you can make it a little bit more eye-catching. Having animations on your video definitely catches attention more. Let's say you want to add some elements. So I want to add a little bit of like, let's see, I'm going to put like surprised or like this, something like this. Yeah, that's really cute. I'm going to flip this image because I want to put it on the other side of my head. And we're going to add this somewhere right here. I want it to be like surprise kinda feeling because in this video I go like Do list, kinda like that. And so I'm just gonna make this a little longer. By the way, if you want the image to appear there, instead of in the beginning of the footage, you'll need to actually cut your footage. So let's say it's right there that you want to add it. We're going to need to split the page and then we're going to remove it from this side and just have it appear once it gets to here. And then I'm going to actually add an animation to this. And I think there's like this popping one. Kinda like that. Yeah. Or let's see, flickering. No, wiggle. Oh, that's kinda cool. Oh, this one pulsing. There's these new motion effects as well. I'm going to make it yes, just like that. Okay, so let's watch that really quickly. There we go. That was really cute. Okay, so these are just some ideas of how you can add some elements to it, start animating it, and just really bringing your footage to life. One other feature I really wanted to talk about is this really fun feature. I'm just going to put like, let's look up like cole hours or something. Let's say I wanted to put some clouds into the space right here. And I want it to make it look like really dreamy like this. Clouds are like moving around. You can actually do that with an animate feature. So I'm going to click on animate and we're going to click on create an animation. And now if you hold on it and drag, you can actually create your own animation. However you want it to move. As you can see here it is now moving in exactly the way that I told it to. We can add smooth so that it's smoother. We can increase the speed. We can do, make it more steady. I think we do smooth is probably the best one. And then we're just going to let it go. So yeah, a really exciting feature that Canvas has added to further animate your videos. Alright, and that is how you can use animations, texts, and elements to kind of bring your videos to life. In the next lesson, we're going to explore Canvas, video background remover feature 16. Video Background Remover: Alright, in this lesson, let's explore Canvas, video background remover feature. I know we've all probably use and love the original Canada magic background remover for images. And now you can do the same thing for video. So let's say in this clip right here, I want to add like a little clip of me talking about the clip without the background. So kind of like a green screen effect. So I'm going to bring this video in here. These are my three tips on, and as you can see right now, I have obviously a background in this video. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to actually edit the video and I'm going to click on this background remover feature. And just like that, it might take you a little bit more time. I actually predict this. So what it did it really quickly. And now you can adjust the image and you can put it wherever you like for me, I'm going to put it in this corner right here. And now this video looks like it's just on a green screen talking about the footage and the background. So I'm gonna play this real quick and we can see how the fact works together. These are my three tips on how I've been growing my business in the last two years. Using, there we go. So this is a really cool way to add a green screen effect. I do recommend filming the additional video with a clear background. Even I didn't really do that here. Like this was actually just this normal backgrounds, so it was still really good. Like the candle was able to remove all of the background really well. But you can definitely use this in all types of ways. You can even bring in like stock imagery. And let's say we should. We just look and see if there's any stock imagery we can bring in. So I'm going to check out this video. Let's say I want to bring in, Let's see people. How about this guy? Let's say we want to bring in this guy into our footage. We can go ahead and do that again. Background remover. And just like that, we have him now without the background. And then we can add him to the video right here. So you can definitely use this as a layering thing. Maybe you want to do like a cool graphic where there's like a lot of different layers of moving pieces. So maybe something like this. Let's see how that looks. I don't know how it's going to be, but Let's see. Yeah, I can definitely see this being a really cool effect. Maybe there's different versions of you, like moving around or maybe there is like a dog running around the screen. It's almost like a little bit of a scrapbook effect. So definitely recommend trying out this feature. It is so fast and so quick, I can't believe it does it in like basically one-click. And in the next lesson, we are finally ready to export your video 17. Export Your Video: Alright, in this lesson, we are going to learn to export your video properly. Now, let's just say you have completed your full edit of your footage and now you're ready to export it and upload it into YouTube, or upload it into Instagram or TikTok or wherever it is. So for any social videos that are vertical like this that you see here, this isn't Instagram real. You're going to want to go to share, download. Mp4 is what you're going to be downloading and you want to keep it at ten ADP. That is your regular vertical footage that you're gonna be using for any social content if you make it any bigger, like, let's say you export it at four K. Instagram. And maybe even YouTube is going to actually shrink your footage into ten ADP and you don't want that. So we might as well just download it in the correct dimensions, and you just click on Download and you are good to go. Now for YouTube, Let's say this is your footage that you are about to export. Your gonna go to share again, download at MP4 video again. Now for a YouTube video, if you filmed in ten ADP, I want you to again export it in ten ADP. Okay? You don't want to stretch your ten ADP footage into a fork a video because again, it's going to stretch the footage and there'll be not as clear if you recorded your video. And for k like we did in by changing your settings on your iPhone in an earlier lesson, then you can actually export it as four K. So you can go ahead and download it. If you filmed in for K, you can actually still export in ten ADP obey a smaller file size, it'll still be like pretty good quality. So you can go like squish it, but you can't expand it. Okay, so my recommendation, I would just export it as four K if it takes too long, just do ten ADP, It's okay. It will still be decent quality on YouTube. Go ahead and download it and you're pretty much good to go and ready to upload it to whichever media that you've chosen to upload two, alright, in the next lesson, if you're creating a social video, I want to teach you how to create captions and add them automatically into your video before you upload them onto whichever platform it's going to 18. Captions for Social Videos: Alright, in this lesson, we're going to add captions into your social videos. So this is totally optional, but I do recommend adding captions if you can to any of your shorts. If someone is watching it on mute or without audio than at least they can still read your captions. My favorite free caption app is actually to use cap cut here. So I'm going to include the link of cap cut into the class resources PDF. But essentially what you're gonna do is you're going to create a new video. And we're going to, because we're doing a social video, we're going to click on this dimensions here. And then I'm going to upload the video that I want to add a caption to. Okay, so once you've uploaded the video, cap cut is just going to start like downloading basically or uploading that video into their platform. You just wait until that's done and then we can move on to the next step. Alright, Once that is done, uploading your footage will then show up in this timeline section. And all you're gonna do is you're going to go into captions here, and we're going to click on auto caption. And the language used here is not Chinese, it is English. We're going to click on Generate and we're going to let that generate on its own. Alright, so that was super-fast. Now we need to just double-check that that cap could actually read everything correctly. So let's just look at it really quickly. Good morning. Um, and as you can see here, the caption does show up here. But what I've actually noticed, if you are uploading it into Instagram, you want to make sure your captions isn't too low because essentially your profile image will be here and all of your profile icons will be here. So you want to be actually closer to the middle of the footage. So we're going to move it up a little bit more. And we can actually adjust how this looks as well. So we can go into presets here on the right-hand side and see which one we like the best. We can play with the different ones. I think I want something like pretty plain, maybe something like this. And then there is text. Let's see what styles we can get. Now we kept cut is free, so it's not gonna be able to give you all the different options here. But there are really, really, there are a lot of choices. So go through it and just see if any of them work for you. I'm just going to choose a random one right now. Let's see. I'm going to choose maybe bless. And then I'm going to put like maybe like a back white background behind it. Then you can add motion if you want. But I think it's actually better for this video. I'm not going to add a background. So all of them automatically move to the right space and also use the correct pre, preset and style. Now, I'm just going to read it through, play it through and make sure that it actually transcribed everything correctly. Good morning, I'm Cheryl, and this is a mindful day my life as a designer and full-time entrepreneur. Okay, So everything was transcribed perfectly and I'm going to now export it. And I'm going to export it as a ten ADP. And then I'm going to export and we are going to have a video with the captions already automatically added. Okay, the video has export it now and I'm just gonna go ahead and download it. And let's watch it together and see how the quality of the captions look. Okay, Let's watch the video really quickly. Good morning, I'm Cheryl, and this is a mindful day my life as a designer and full-time. Okay, perfect. Obviously this is not like branded and the font isn't exactly like super beautiful. But I think you get the point. You can definitely play around with the different styles and presets and see if there's one that's better. Obviously, when it was in the editor, it looked kind of like blurry. But once you export it, as you can see, it will be high definition and it will look a lot better. That looks great. Now once that is done, you can send it over to your phone again and then added to whichever platform that you're hoping to upload it into. Alright, now, in the next lesson, let's put it all together now and just watch my full video editing process. 19. Putting It All Together: My Video Editing Process: Alright, in this last lesson, we're going to put it all together, put everything we learned in the previous lessons and start editing or video. I am going to, this is gonna be basically kinda like, uh, work with me. So you can kind of see like my thinking process as I go through editing this video in real time. Alright, first off, we are in Canva. We're going to open up video. I'm making an Instagram real. So I'm going to open up Instagram real here. Then Let's see. So I'm going to go to uploads and we are going to upload all of our footage into this space. So let's just drag it all in, including the voice-over and everything. So I'm just going to bring it all in here. First things first, I am going to actually bring the voice over n First. Let's see if I can do that without footage. Oh, you know what, I forgot my song. So I'm going to bring in the song as well, and I'm gonna put it right there. I am going to bring the song volume down and then this will go off of it. Let's see, this is a morning, my wife. Okay. That sounds pretty good. So it starts off with a morning in my life. So I'm going to bring in my clip first clip, and I believe it is one of these ones. I think it's gonna be this one, so I'm going to replace that. Let's add another footage end. So I'm gonna put my much footage. Okay. Let me just see what's happening here. This is a morning my wife should really start from here. This is a morning my wife is a right. And then we're going to reduce this footage now. Let's see, from where I'm sitting this morning. And then the next one is the ice matcha latte. So I want to talk about that this morning with an a there. They kind of let you do that and I'm actually starting a new project for you. I'm going to add this end though. So it's like a clip of me walking into my office. Lucia starts somewhere there. And then I'm actually going to remove the audio of this. So let's mute this. I think I need to mute all of them to be honest. The morning my wife this morning, David. As a kind of my to-do list, I'm actually starting a new brand design project for copywriters. So let's head into my HQ and set up the new quite okay, I'm gonna end that there. Then we're gonna get into a client portal portions. So let's see. Start typing there, maybe somewhere here. Okay, next will be, I think the client portal, which I think is this clip here, will typically start with my template, customize it as needed. I'll schedule and all the tasks and assign them to the right person. The right person. And then I like to form a little welcome videos, film a welcome video. So the next clip, as let's see, might be this one. Then I like to throw him a little welcome video so that they understand how to nap. And then I think there's a clip of me adding the welcome video. And then I'm going to add, I think there's this one right here. She usually leaves. I'm feeling pretty excited. I love using Notion as a homestay with my clients and it's been keeping my projects time and collaborative shadow client H2 from incomplete claim management system. Okay. And then we're going to end it right there at the end. I think maybe this club's needs to be zoomed in a little bit more. So let's see how that looks. High-quality and health and videos so that they understand exactly how to navigate the space there. Yeah, that looks way better. Okay, Ashley, I love that effect where it zooms and typically start with someone, maybe I can split it right here. And then I'm going to zoom in on the next clip. So people can see better what I'm doing. Like that. That level typically start with my template and then customize it as needed. I'll schedule and all the tasks and assign them to the right person. And then I like to form a Louisville that looks grayish. Okay. So those clubs look good. The only clip that I want to fix the look of I think as this one, I'm going to go to adjustments. I'm just going to make it a little bit warmer. A little bit warmer and a little bit brighter. And then I'm going to maybe bring down the shadows a bit. And then let's see how that looks. Actually maybe even a little bit warmer than that Okay, let's see how that looks. Alright, that looks better. I think it fits with the vibe of the rest. Better day with okay, That looks really good. I'm going to add some texts in the beginning. I think. I'm gonna do something like use my brand font here and make this white. And I'm gonna say like morning in my life. And then I'm going to do subheading here. And I'm going to add, as i'm, I'm gonna put freelance designer. Then we're going to actually look at some texts effects. I think I'm going to make this curved. I like how that looks in a previous lesson there. And I think I'm going to lift all of these. So I love adding a lift to make it look more apparent from the background. You want to make sure that all the taxes in the middle of the video, just because there's a lot going on at the top and bottom of an Instagram real. So you want to make sure that everything is kind of in the middle, but not like covering her face. So I'm just going to move this a little bit. Okay. Let's watch that. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. I'm going to add some more animations to it. I think I'm gonna do like the typewriter. And I'm going to actually have this go all the way to the next scene as well. But I'm going to remove the effect on the next scene. Sorry, I meant the this effect. So how do I remove it? I'm going to remove animation. Okay, let's just see how that looks. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. This morning, we deal with, oh, I don't like how the animation goes out. So I'm gonna go typewriter on, just enter. Okay, let's see how that looks. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. This morning, I started off the day with the system. Okay. I think we have our video. I like to keep transitions pretty simple, like just no transitions basically. But I think that's really it. So I think I'm ready to export. Again. I'm going to remove the song, which is this one here. And I'm going to, That's how I'm backing on Instagram. So I'm just going to download this now. And I'm going to download as an mp4 ten ADP download. Okay, the video has exported, the video is ready. Let's watch this. This is a morning my life as a freelance designer. This morning, I started off my day with a nice natural law theory as a kind of my to-do list. I'm actually starting a new brand design project for copywriters. So let's head into fine HQ and set up the new client. I'll typically start with my template and then customize it as needed. I'll schedule and all the cast and assign them to the right person. And they don't like to film a little welcome video so that they enter exactly how to navigate the space, which usually leaves them feeling pretty excited. I love using Notion as a home space with my clients and it's been keeping my projects on time and collaborative shadow client HQ from incomplete claim management system. Yes. Okay. That was so good. It's finally done, guys. If you haven't yet go and edit your video with a canva video editor. Use whichever features that I have introduced to you in this class and put it all together. It can be just as simple as trimming and splitting all of your footage to some music, something like I have created here. And it really shouldn't take you too long. Alright, good luck with your editing, and I can't wait to see all of your creations. 20.
