To provide a 3D look and some variation in my artworks, I always try to include different materials which are easily available in the market. I'm passionate to create folk, traditional, contemporary, mural and spiritual artworks. I'm always looking forward to try out distinct and unique art forms to express my creativity. I also like to create DIY projects by recycling materials.

According to me, Art is a also a therapy to become stress free and through this platform I would be sharing the detailed process of vario... See full profile

1. Introduction to the Course: Hi everyone, and welcome to my class. My name is Puja, and in this class, I'm going to show you how to create a beautiful resin plate from start to finish. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who has already explored resinad, this class will guide you step by step. We will cover everything from choosing the right materials, preparing your base, mixing resin safely to create a stunning design and finishing your piece. By the end of this class, you will have your own unique resin plate that you can use as a home decor, a serving tray or even as a handmade gift. Don't worry if you have never worked with resin before, I will share all my tips and techniques to make the process simple and enjoyable. So without wasting time, let's get started and create something beautiful together. 2. List of all materials needed: Here is the list of the materials you will need. I'm using silicon mole and it is around 10.5 inch in diameter. To check the level of the workspace, we need leveler, which is very important, so make sure you have it. Epoxy resin and hardener, which we have to use in one is to one ratio. I'm using this brand, but you can use any other brand as well. For coloring, we will need pigments or alcohol inc. I'm using only one color for this project. Other than that, I will be using gold foil because it looks really beautiful in resin. You can use gold flak as well if you have. For measuring resin and hardener by volume, we will need a measuring cup, a heat gun or a torch for popping air bubbles, few wooden sticks and spoon for mixing. Couple of disposable cups for mixing resin and colors. Last but not the least gloves to avoid contact with the resin. 3. Preparing the base with the materials: To start, protect your workspace with plastic or parchment paper. Resin can get messy, so this step is very crucial. Since resin is a chemical, always work in a well ventilated area and wear gloves and mask. Before starting, make sure the base you are using is clean. I'm using a tape here to clean up all the dust particles from the silicon mold. Before pouring resin, I want to place the small pearls in the base it has some glue in it, so it will be in its place when I pour resin. You can skip this step if you want, or you can use some other material as well. I'm just arranging all the pearls in random pattern. 4. How to mix resin : Let's start mixing resin and hardener. Follow the instructions on the packaging. Usually, it is one is to one ratio. I'm taking one third cup of resin here, and I will be adding that into a cup. Clean the measuring cup as much as possible before adding hardener. The one is to one ratio is based on the volume and not the weight, so I don't need weighing scale here. I am adding hardener using the same measuring cup. Right now, I don't know how much resin I will need for this project, but I will mix it again if needed. Now stir thoroughly for three to 5 minutes to ensure it's properly combined. Remember to scrape the sides of the cup. Now the fun part, adding colors, separate your resin into smaller cups and mix in your chosen pigments. I'm using only one color and the gold leaf, so I have just divided into two parts. You can go bold or keep it subtle. It's up to you. Stir well to ensure the colors are evenly distributed. In the second cup, gently add the gold foil. It is very fragile, so be a little careful so that it doesn't fall anywhere else. I have very less quantity of resin, so one foil should be enough. Mix it properly. To make pink colour a little lighter, I am adding clear resin into it. Mix it again, and now we are ready to pour resin. 5. Pouring Resin efficiently: Important thing to note before pouring resin, use a spirit level tool to ensure your working surface is perfectly level. Start pouring resin based on the design you want to make. I'm pouring pink color in the corners first. Make sure it is evenly distributed in all the corners. You can use a stick or a gloved hand to spread it around Experiment with swirls, layers, or even some glitters for an extra flare. Always keep some little clear resin aside so that you can mix it whenever you want. I will need pink colour in the middle as well, so I am mixing it again. Don't worry if there is a slightly change in the shade. Once it is set, you will not even notice it. Now I will pour the golden color first, pour it slowly and let it spread naturally. Gold foil with clear resin gives translucent effect, which looks very beautiful. In the middle, I am going to give again pink shade, so I'm pouring whatever I have right now. I have to make resin and hardener mixture again because I still have some space left. But if you want, before mixing your resin, you can do a quick water test to estimate how much you will need. It's an easy way to avoid waste and get the perfect amount every time. It is very important to carefully measure resin and hardener according to the instructions, either by volume or weight. If it is not in the proper proportion, your resin will be sticky after curing. So take your time in measuring and mixing. For mixing, stir it slowly for three to 5 minutes. Crepe the sides and bottom to mix thoroughly. Since I am making the same shade again, I'm using the old cups for dividing the mixed resin. Follow the same procedure we did earlier. I feel pouring resin is the most exciting part of this process. You can begin from the center and let it naturally spread or you can pour in lines if you want more control over the design. Resin is self leveling, so there is no need to rush, let it flow and settle on its own. If you are using multiple colors, pour them one by one or layer them to create beautiful effects. Always remember this is your creative moment, experiment, have fun, and don't worry about making it perfect. Each piece turn out unique, and that's the beauty of resin art. If your new shade is a little different from the older one, you can just mix it using a wooden stick. To highlight the center of this plate, I am adding few drops of golden color again. If you want, you can add some other materials like beads or dried flowers. 6. Tips & tricks when working with resin: Once pouring of resin is complete, use a heat gun or torch lightly over the surface to remove any bubbles. Two important things to note, it should not be too close to the resin and do not overheat it. In case you don't have heat gun, you can use toothpick for popping out all the bubbles. Safety always comes first, so please ensure that you are working in well ventilated area and always use mask while working with resin. To enhance the look of this resin plate, I added the same pearls in the middle as well. At this point, you can do little bit adjustment if you want using a toothpick or a wooden stick. Once you are happy with your design, let the resin cure. This can take 24 to 72 hours depending on the resin brand. Cover it to protect from dust while it dries. 7. Demolding the resin: Before demolding, gently touch and check if resin is dried completely. Usually, the drying time is from 24 hours to 48 hours. Let's demold our plate gently and carefully. Here I am using golden highlighter to highlight the corners of this plate. This step is completely optional. Once it is complete, let it dry for a couple of hours, and then resin plate is ready. We have come to the end of the class. Thank you so much for taking up this course. For your class project, I invite you to create your own resin plates using the techniques we learn. Don't forget to share your creations in the project section. Thank you.
