1. Introduction: Hi. Welcome to this class. Welcome to piano technique. 101 This is class is the number one in the piano technique, Siri's. And in this class we are going to learn a seven minute routine. First of all, who? Nansen. This scores any student that is planning to start playing piano or it's alright. Taking panel ISMs if you want to improve your piano playing this class is for you. But why? Why have a good panel technique is necessary? Well, the reality that is that asked a piano player. Even if you don't want to become a professional, you need to acquire technical skills in order to be capable to play any difficulty that you can find in any peace. Well, it doesn't matter if you want to play classical music or jazz, or maybe just something not so complicated. You need to acquire anchored technique in this seven minute routine and go to Chi due to learn very easy to follow exercises in order to develop a seven minute routine that you can't apply on your daily practice, we're going to see some important exercises about articulation. This is going to make your fingers stronger each day each day that your practices, they're going to get your fingers stronger. You're going to learn how to relax your hand so you can have a better control of your sound . And you can prevent injuries because if you play without relaxation, J are going to start accumulating stress in your hand and you can develop injuries in the future. This course all the medias are practical, so no previous knowledge is required. You don't need to be actually learning music theory to just need a piano and a very good attitude to start learning. This exercise is unimproved. Your technique. My name is in solicit and going to be your instructor, your teacher in this class. I'm very happy to share with you all this tips and recommendations so you can really improve your playing and Roth today. Welcome 2. Fingering: first of all, whoever into nerd which the finger and this. When you play any instrument, each instrument has a different finger. You piano. My thumb is going to be finger number one one to tree four five my left hand. 12 Tree four five My films are finger number one to tree for five. It's very important to know the finger and because many times in piano I'm going to be referring to the fingers by number. And actually, you can find this on books. You will see that the authors always refer to your fingers using numbers. What else? Well, we have to keep, or you can see that in piano. The piano has black ease and quiet keys groups off to black keys and treat black keys. So what I see my this two black keys group. The key that is to the left off the two Black Keys Keys Group. This is the C note. It's very important to understand this is the C note. If I go to the next group of two black, he's This is the scene up So true. Lucky's see no to Lucky's See note. So what first exercise is that place. I wanted to go to old your Kieber and find all the groups off to Blackie's and play all the sea knows that you can find, considering this we're going to in this exercise is we're going to be used in finger number one at the C note like this. This is going to be my position. This exercises with my right hand and what I use my left hand. I'm going to play, see note with my finger number five like so my position is going to be exactly this one like this. 3. Exercise #1: this first exercise, I went to Colin Preparatory Exercise because it's about knowing how to place your hand at the keyboard. What? I'm going to do this, that I'm going to open my hand and bring all my figures to my song. This is a very good position. When I played like this, my fingers should look like this. It's a very curved way and I'm going to be playing use in my fingertips. I'm not gonna play like this. You must be careful with that. So in this exercise, I think this this my position is very important to know how it looks, How must be place. So you have any question or any doubt about how you must place your fingers. You just open your hand on, bring order fingers your thumb, and then you're going to play. C note with finger number one with your phone and then I want you roll. I'm going to hold the key and I'm going to lift now. Figure number two. Look that I'm going to place my wrist a little bit down when I play Bond. Then I roll. I hold a few seconds and then going to lift. It's important to stay there a couple of seconds because in that way you can get your fingers stronger each time that you practice this exercise. Now I'm going to play my finger. Number four have yet notes and then I left Now G note my role. I hold and I live now being a number four going down again number Tree girl. It's very common to see that sometimes the students want to just played this very fast, but it usually play too fast and you're not sure that you are playing in the correct way. Maybe you can have mistakes, and you're not gonna get all the benefits that this exercises I can bring you. So I'm going to play with my left hand. Now what is the? A main benefit of this exercise is that you're going to relax your fingers because it's common to play like this, like opening your hand and stretching your fingers. And this is not correct because you can't be accumulating tension and playing a very stress way. And this is not good for any pianist. It doesn't matter that you want to play just as a hobby. You must really have a good position. So what? I play with my left hand? I'm going to begin with my finger number one at the G note. When I play with the right hand, I start have the see? No, with my finger number one. But right now I want to talk with my left hand. I'm going to begin Pacino because is easier to begin with. Finger number one. So I open my hand, I recall my fingers to my phone, and then I want to play the gene out. A role, huh? And lift now. Finger number two. Well, you hold on. Lift now. Finger number tree. We left few seconds, then finger number or And lift a finger. Number five, You roll on lift. Oh, I'm going up again. Now I'm going to play with finger number three. Can number two be careful, Dad, When you don't play when you play this, you careful that your fingers are not going to I don't like this. If you're playing your notice that you're opening your fingers, you must relax and go back to the first position. I don't recommend you to play this exercise Playing both hands of the same chimes very important to play them separately, so you can't really understand and make sure that you are playing this exercise in the correct way. 4. Exercise #2: this second exercise. This going to be about plain the same first exercise that we practice, but instead off lift them. What I'm going to do is I just roll my hand again. I play the next note. Very Portland. Remember your position. Your take to bring on your fingers, your thumb. Then you play for your number one. You roll you wait, But instead of let your hand you go down and play the next. No. What is going to bring to your piano playing when you're practices? Exercise? I think it does your what? You relax your hand and you're going to play something called Learn Something called Licato They got, though it's an Italian war that has to be to play without separating each no, very slowly. Then I living a number two and I finished with my finger number one. Now what you play with my left hand, remember, begin with your some, then going down. Even true number training No far Number five War three to and again flip. Play each hand separately so you can really feel that you're controlling your fingers and yourself 5. Exercise #3: going to play now. The third exercise and this third exercise. What? I'm going to do it. So going to play, Keep in the same position, bringing all my fingers to my phone, and I want to play four times each note. But listen, the this a difference on and I'm going to be making this movement, something about your wrist and I playing what you do. This movement. And actually, I'm not going to separate like this justice something very gentle, but separate each sound. And this is called stuck at because you just play, like, short the notes. So I'm going to play with each figure for times each note. Uh huh. Uh huh. Hi, I'm Julie. Always keeping a good position. No. Uh huh. Uh huh. You can practice this exercise well. This exercise you can practice them twice daily while you can see at the end of this course a whole routine. But you can practice each hand separately before playing the whole routine. You can take your time. You go at your own pace. Each person is a friend. Each finger on each hand is different as a realty so that some of the main purposes of this exercises is to really know your hand. How is your hand? And which fingers are we care or stronger than the other so we can so we can work with them . 6. Exercise #4: I'm going to play the fourth exercise in this course this fourth exercise. I want to call this articulation. Why? Because it's very It's kind of different off the exercises that we played first and what it wanted to do this to make this movement. Imagine that you're saying hello to somebody or goodbye. So it's a very loose movement. So what did you do? Want to play? Always keep in this position. I'm going to play figure number two number one. I'm sorry. And then I'm going to throw my finger number two making this movement and then playing, Getting to play with second note. Remember that when you make this movement, make sure that you're playing with the fingertip. I don't wonder to play like this. This is not correct. Jamous played like this. So I'm going to play this one more time. I'm not going to. I'm not going to articulate my thumb because my some it's so strong and actually ESPN ist. We must learn how to hold and control for most of the when you played your thumb because it's too strong and sometimes you can't lie to strong and we don't want that so just play the C note and then I'm going to throw my finger number two plate denote. Relax. It is very important. When I troll, I play the note. If I move all the fingers with this movement, that's OK. But after I have a plane, I must not leave my fingers like this. So I must white until our fingers are back to the keyboard. Then number tree. Relax. Four. Uh lacks five. A relaxed, hungry down on. I wrinkled my fingers in my thumb at the end on my gift gently. I want to play this one more time. Uh uh, Now my left hand, this exercise and bunch begin with my finger number five. I bring all mine figures to my thumb and then having this, you know. Mm. Relax. Uh, I don't want you calling my phone. Then I can't wait until you stop here in the sound of the note before you play the next note. That way, you can really concentrate on having a good position. I'm going to play this one more time so you can understand. Uh, this exercise must not be played both hands at the same time. Yet Jamous really practices several times saying I can say even months before playing both hands at the same 7. Exercise #6: Now let's play the exercise number six. What we're what you do is where we're going to play from ST G. But not articulating its a very gentle way. Just berris Longley way. Relax a deuce movement, but make sure that you're gonna play this. You play like this, stretching your fingers. That's not correct. Really. It's not correct that it's not going to allow you to play many things in the future. So if maybe you have been playing for us a little time for just one time by now by your own Jim us, really? Take a look of your fingers and make sure that you're playing in the correct What? So I want to play this again, Huh? I'm going to play with my left hand right here. Yeah. Would you play this one more time? And you can play this both hands. This exercise can be placed playing both hands at the same time. Yeah, way, way and your lift. And this is really going to help you to have more control of your fingers and always relax . And after the other exercises, this is going to be kind of easier show you can't like both times or even five times if you want. Not just that. I grew doing a very slow movement 8. Exercise #5: now I'm going to play the 55th exercise. And why, I wondered Todo is to place your right hand with your finger number one at the C note under one to play with older fingers along the notes from, say to Fuji. So all those five notes at the same time you're going to play and hold all the notes. Hold the keys. Don't let them go out out Took it up again. Something important to play like this. You just are playing like this, not correct. So curb your fingers and don't place your rest to allow because it's going to make you play this position. So a little bit too high your wrist. Do you play all the five keys at the same time, and then your star doing this without lifting the rest off the keys? You're going to play for times each note. 12 three, and the fourth is going to be regent now Number 22 string and for try to relax at the beginning. It's kind of difficult this exercise to treat and for Juan to tree for finger number 51234 Then you can really lift your hand on. Relax your hand. You can actually live it just there close to your body so you can relax your hands because at the beginning you are going to find that during play like this you have no control of your fingers and this is normal. So don't desperate. If you cannot play this perfectly at the same time so played like this I'm going to begin with my finger number five Other see note to tree and four. It's normal that you can't have problems with each hand. Sometimes is your right hand or left hand. It's normal. You don't have the same ability. Both hands free. No long true tree. 12 tree can Juan tree and your and you get You can practice this twice each hand, but not don't play both times continuously. You must really separate first your right hand, then Drew go to your left hand and then you go back to your right hand. So in that way to you again, make sure that you're not stressing or, uh, your fingers are not getting tired 9. Complete Routine: Now let's play the whole routine. We practiced six exercises off course. June can You were in charge of your own learning, and you can't really decided you can play this routine twice or even three times if you want. If you're just beginning, maybe you can practice more. This routine is going to help you if you have being playing just a many, even for years. But you have problems with your position. This routine is going to help you. Believe me, I have seen this in my students on. Even when I play with them, I can see how I really get my hand relaxing in in a better precision. So what I'm going to do first, Remember, exercise number one you can practice is routine with me right now, So I'm going to take you more than 67 or eight minutes. Now I want to play my left hand, huh? - How would you play the second exercise? Almost the same. But instead of lift team, who would go and play the next? No, my left hand. - Third exercise. Articulation. Hmm. Okay. Um, the town. Uh hmm. For exercise. The way this exercise right now, even that we're playing. It s the fourth exercise. I show old it to you. US 1/3 exercise, they think Think Think how you want to play the exercise. Number five. What I want to do is want you all all the notes then, uh, three. Um uh your hand. Uh huh. Uh huh. Now next last exercises exercise. I can play hold hands at the same time. Remember, just playing generally No hands. Another articulating just will be from once, you know. Why not you in the next booth? Four times. Okay, this is the whole region. As you can see, it will on Lee take you like, six minutes to play the whole Richie So you can practice this wants or twice daily, and it's really going to bring you many benefits. You can really try. It's not gonna take you a lot of time. And you can see if you have a really changed juror The would you play and something is important is that you must play always with your nails cut because you cannot play like this. Give your nails color too long, so always keep your nails cut. Now, as I told you each finger is different. We don't have our nails. Interesting way For example, if you can see my Oh my Here I go to put it closer to the camera. I really I have almost caught I cook my could my nails a couple of days ago on and when I play have this sound So the way my finger is But not all the figures I like that. So just make sure that you play with your nails cut all the time. I hope that you have enjoyed this routine and this exercises that place. Let me know ive This exercise is on helping you. And if you have seen improvements in the way did you play? 10. Congratulations: Congratulations. You are now at the end off this sculpture class.
