1. Introduction: Do you want to know what is trendy and commercial? Join me in this class to learn everything you need to know about pattern. Meg. Hi, my name is Sandra scaling day and I'm a Graphic and pattern designer. I've been sending money science for almost a year and I'm really happy with his website. I've had a great experience and I want to share it with you. Hopefully I will show you how to avoid some mistakes I made and I won't give you great information that I hoped I had in the beginning. So let's get started. In. 2. What is Patternbank?: First of all, ladies butter bank, putter bank. He said global marketplace for textile design. These website, they sailed patterns to companies so they can use it in science for all kinds of products, textiles, home decor, stationary and more. They started as a fashion blog reporting fashion trends, and slowly they became a marketplace. Bladder bank is a great way to be discovered to make passive income and to know what is trending. They work with designers from all over the world and they have an amazing amount of patterns on their website. In the beginning, they accept it all designers, but after a few years, they have made it a bit hard to be part of the team. I hope this class will give you a better understanding or better bank so you can get accepted as a designer. 3. Explore the page: On the homepage of pattern bag, you will be able to find the trend flash. Their trans slash basically is the trend that they think it will be being in the upcoming new monks. They put a couple of pictures and descriptions. So he's a virus, nobody's trendy and we'll be good in the new months. They will probably buy something related to the trend. They put the trend flash on their pattern blank page. So these signers know what's trendy and they can create these signs based on it. Under trends slash, we will be able to find some pictures of inspiration and assured description about what the trend is about. The new arrivals section. Here they show all the designs that have just been uploaded to the science here you have to upload regularly. Better bag doesn't really have an algorithm, so you have the same chance as everybody else to be discovered. You can also see the categories in which they divided the science in. Geometric, floral, tropical. On the editors peaks, you will find any signs that are the best or the most special according to powder bank, B here is not so easy. Here are the signs have to be really well-made with great quality, are very different from anything else. If you're really saying is here you have a great chance to be published on their Instagram account or in their newsletter. This is a great opportunity to get discovered and make more sales. They also have a section on future designers where they show the profile of their base designers. The top menu, you can see the premium section. So these means Premium licenses. We will talk about these later. Also, you can see their collection, the trends and the catwalk. So everything related with fashion. 4. Become a seller: To become a seller, you will have to go to the menu and click on apply for our seller account. Here, they will explain a bit of what they're looking for and they will give you some tips on how to fill out the form. It is important to take these steps seriously because you can only apply once, but I will help you out as much as possible so you can get accepted. First, let's fill the basic information. Your name and your e-mail, also your display name. I would suggest putting the name of your brand or studio. Make sure you fill out all of the information. Don't miss anything. Here. They will ask you for your people accounts so later they can pay you. Here, you should write, Why do you want to be part of Potter bank? Maybe because you love making art, I want to create an extra income or you love fashion and being on trends. So you would like to be part of their fashion industry selling your designs. Take your time to write these out, but don't array complicated, right? What do you feel? For example, I would write these, I've heard great things about this website. And as a designer, I will have to sell my patterns here to make an extra income and be part of the community. Having the trend report is very helpful and I would love to create consistent and trendy designs. Really just write what you feel and also what you expect from pattern bank. On education, write down your degree. And if you didn't study anything related to the sign, you can say that you were a self-taught or maybe explain a beam of how you learn how to make patterns. In highlights. Share your experience as a designer, maybe working with a fashion brand, selling your designs to a studio. I'm working for the science studio. I link with your portfolio is very important. They need to see evidence of your work. So here you can add your website. If you have a page with your designs at Behance page, they wanted to take out your previous work and the quality of it. Something very important is to make sure your name is consistent in all of the pages you are showing them. You have to have the same name everywhere So they know it you, if your Behance and Instagram are named floral design cute, name your pattern bank. Floral design cute. It also helps the same picture of your profile on all of the websites you are showing them. Their most important part of bloating your designs. Thank your time on these steps and make sure you are choosing the busy saints who have, and all of them are perfect. No mistakes. Let me show you the patterns I use to apply. I use patterns that I like and that I'm proud of. You want to do the same for you. You want to choose the signs that were first sent you and that you really like. I chose digital designs as well as some hand painted with watercolor. You wonder, show off your skills choosy in signs that are different so you can show them what you're able to do. They want to see that you're flexible, talented, and professional. If you have these signs that are made with watercolor and some digitally show both of them. Try to put your skills out there. Maybe choose a DC-3 sign, a floral pattern, or one with big births. Just choose variety. They asked for ten to 12 designs. I would choose ten. Then when you choose your patterns, you have to make sure that they are perfect to be repeated. Don't put them in any scale or tried to put them in a weird position. Just really show a repeating tile proofing to be repeated because they will do this when they're reviewing your work. And if it doesn't repeat perfectly, they will just not accept you. So really make sure these Debbie is really important. Make sure you send them in the format. They prefer. 1200 by 1200 pixels. After you upload your These sign makes sure they are at 100% uploaded and hit the play button. You will receive an answer in one week approximately. 5. Personalize your profile: Let's personalize our shop. First. Let's add a picture. The runner has to be one hundred, ten hundred and five hundred, four hundred, four hundred and forty peaks cells. You can make your runner on Photoshop, Illustrator or Canada. You can put one of your designs are created a special design for it. You could also add your name or histogram or the name of your account. Make sure you fill out all of the information. You could also add a description to your shop. I like to welcome people to my shop and add my Instagram on counting Gazi, I wanted to take more of my work. 6. Licens types: Potter bank has four types of licenses. And the good part is that in all of them, you make 50% of every sale. That's one of the reasons I love this website. It feels right to get 50% of the sale because he's your product. I think giving these commission to our salary, it's really fair. The nonexclusive licenses. They have a personal loan that eats JPEG only, and it's obviously personal use. The euros, then they have a commercial license. And in this one they can sell 500 products. These one cost 85-year-old. The other one is a commercial unlimited. So they can tell us many of products they want and it caused 120 years. At the end, you will get 50% of every sale you make. Prefer selling in a non-exclusive license because they can buy the design over and over again. And at the end, you might make more money than the non-exclusive license. But you can also try out and see what works best for you. The premium license or the exclusive license can be sold only once. After it's purchased. It will be automatically removed from the website. They must not be sold or be forced sales elsewhere. Premium, the sign is €300, so that means you will get 150. 7. Upload a design: Let's upload the design first, click on the menu and click Upload and design. On this page, you will be able to see the license types, the personal and commercial and the premium. I personally always choose the commercial one because you are able to sell it more times. And I've never really tried the premium, but you can also give it a try. It selects this and click Next. After this, you will select the choice you repeat. And dizzy for patterns that are perfectly being repeated. After you can choose the type of file, if it's bitmap or vector. So that means if it's made in Illustrator or Photoshop, in this case is Photoshop for me. So I will click bit bump. Here. You will select your file and wait for it to upload. And after you really want to check that there are no mistakes. So take your time and check it out. The next page, you will find the preview images. Here you can select five mockups of products I use senior design will look good on. You can also change the scale of your pattern. Then you will be asked to upload the Photoshop file or the vector file. Also, if you have any assets, you can put them here, it's optional. So for example, if you have any other, if you have the same design with a different color palette, or if you have big truths of your process or anything you would like to add, it would be an extra acid, but he's not necessarily exceptional. Makes sure everything so bloated and click next. It's time to describe your project. So first you will have to add a title. I would suggest to add a title that is descriptive and something random. For example, I wouldn't name it watercolor vibrance floral. On your description, you just want to describe the file that you are uploading. Beat up your design, maybe a few hands. It is. Whatever you feel it's relevant about your design. Put it here. Then they will ask you on which products you are the Son. It's meant to be. You can only select three of them. So woman's where swimwear gift to her and said that, uh, but keeping in mind that most of the customers of pattern bank by woman's water swim swore and active. After you will choose the categories. And also in this case, you can only select three. So select the ones that go with your design. In this case, floral, tropical, and nature. And the tax section, you can only select the tags that are already made. You cannot make new ones, but they organize the tags by popularity a to C or heading. Take your time to discover these menu and make sure you choose the tags that correspond to your design. You can only choose 12, so choose right, maybe to some further color and other ones for the type of design you're putting. So if it's a floral, how it's made, so what are you color? Take your time and select tags that really go with your design. And these crabs who dwell. After you will just have to take the copyright notice. And you can preview your design to make sure you didn't make any mistakes. It looks how you want it to look. And then click Submit. The simul probably take a few days until it's approved. So just be patient and check your email blacks to see if it's approved. The mutinies time, you'll just have to go to your menu. Click my designs, and here at the end of the row you will find download, edit, and delete. Here. You can delete your design. Here also you can edit your design. When you click on Edit, it will take you to the page where you uploaded near the site. Here you can change everything about it. So if your file was wrong or there was a mistake, you can change your file. You can put more pictures on the assets section. You can maybe change the name, the tags. If you want to modify something of your design, just do it here. At the end, you just have to click update my design. Sometimes you might find that your design has been rejected. So here are some reasons why this might happen. When they're repeated, It's not perfect or your design has some mistakes. So be careful and pay a lot of attention when you upload your pattern. Also, if you uploaded the design many times with a different color palette, It's good to do it three times maximum. Because pattern bank once alrighty, and unique designs. If you're going to do it, tried to upload a design and then another different one. These will have on your page looking rapidly. 8. Seller tips: Be as successful seller, you have to know some important information about the website will save you a lot of time and I wish I knew before. First of all, pattern bank has many clients, but most of them are part of the fashion industry. They're looking for these signs for woman's were around 80% of their clients shot for the signs that will look great on woman's word. So keep this in mind. It's a huge part of their sale. Also, there are a lot of customers looking for the sign for swimwear and sportswear. Woman's worst wounds sort and the sports were tough three. Also, florals are a big, big week sellers. So make sure you have a few florals and your portfolio. Of course, you can also submit patterns that are a better fitted for stationary or home decor. But don't expect these to be sold very fast. Just be patient. The signs with a limited amount of color generally do better for customers. This means spending less money on printing. Sometimes you have to put yourself in the position of the client to understand what they want. You can try this out. So these Sina, a couple of these signs we tour or three colors and see if they do better. In my experience, I've found that this is very true. So why not give it a try? Participating in the trans flag is very important. I have made most of my sales like this. It's important to check out the trend, see what they're looking for and submit some designs. Pay attention to the color, shapes, and overall feel of the pattern. After you create your design makes sure the name is using the trend flash name. For example. Right now they have the trend lines. So if I uploaded the design, I would also name it lays line floral or just lays line. These will make it easier the customers and also for pattern bag to put your designing the right place. Meat to the designers newsletter. As I mentioned, Potter banks started as AB logo of trend reports. They are really good at forecasting what will be big in the next month. They send a newsletter letting designers know why he's popular at the moment so they can create patterns for these trends. Also, if you have a pattern on your shove that already, so it's a trend, you can just rename it. And this will help customers be able to find it more easily. Be consistent. The website doesn't really have an algorithm, so it's a fair chance for everyone to get discovered. The only way to be published on their first page is to upload a design, are to be selected as an aid or speak. Be irregular and upload weekly so they can see are the signs pumping up. Try out different color palettes uploading and he signed with different color palettes might help you out to make more sales. If you are these tiny, simple and it's easy to change the color, It's good to have a few options on your page. So maybe try a color palette that is trending nail child. More fun, colorful one, Joe's don't overdo it. Three different color patterns are probably enough. If you have any sign that has been sitting around for a long time and you haven't made any sale. You can try editing it and maybe change the color or composition, or simply edit the text and the name of the design. Follow cutter bank on Instagram, they might follow you back and take some of your designs. 9. Get paid: Getting paid his remains straightforward. When you create an account, they will ask you to add your PayPal account and after this, they will deposit your earnings every month. I've never had a problem with these. They are really irregular and professional about it. Old payments are made using PayPal on a monthly cycle, normally the 26th of each month. Click on the transactions and then sales to check earnings. Here, you will be able to see the pattern you sold and to whom. In statements, you will be able to see the amount that has been transferred to your account. 10. Thank you: Thanks so much for joining this class. I really hope you enjoy it and you've learned a lot.
