about three weeks. And now I'm living in Germany
where my partner lives. When I live in different places, a lot of kinds of people help me. I would like to express
my gratitude to them. Sending a digital message is fine, but handwritten text with a painting

2. Project: We're going to creating gorgeous painting with
this reference photo. But we don't just
paint it as it is. Colors have brightness, which we recognize and convert into primary colors. Brilliant painting is stylish
and illuminate your heart. I'm providing a reference
photo which you can find in the project and resources tab. Once you are there, you'll see a column on the
right called Resources. That's where you can click to download reference photo for this class. I'll be demonstrating
these flowers. However, if you would like to paint from a photo that you took or paint your own favorite flower instead, Please feel free. Sketching and
painting techniques that you'll be learning a basic no matter what reference

key point of my painting. Brightness.
3. Brightness: This is the process
of my painting. That color is different when comparing the picture with
the Reference Photo. But when I change those to monochrome, and similar
shades of color are visible. Colors have brightness. Even if you paint
with primary colors that are different from
the reference photo, you use similar brightness, You can create a
three-dimensional effect. I would like to explain
a little about how I use the brush. Dip the brush in the water Tap it onto a paper towel a couple of times and put paint on it. I like the way the colors bleed and change. My style is to use a brush
with a lot of water. But if you want to like strong colors, try using less water in the brush. If you want to know more
about brush control, Check out my horse-painting class. Please experiment with the amount of water you prefer. In the next lesson, I will explain what we need in this class.
4. What We Need: I described what we will
need in this class. Watercolor paints. Any paint is fine. It can be okay you use it when you were kid or your kids use it at school. And it also works with cheap paints from your local shop. I use tube paints, but you can use pans if you like. In this lesson, we use yellow, yellow-green, dark-blue, pink, dark-green, purple, orange, red and white. The brand I use is Holbein. I particularly like this vivid pink. But please use the brand you want to use. And if you don't
have those colors, mix your own one to
make a close match. You don't need to paint
in the same as me. Create your own art. We can all enjoy
our personalities. This class is about having fun refreshing your mind with primary colors. Next step, Brushes. You should choose
the softer brushes for watercolor or acrylics. Flat brush No. 18 or 16, Paint the base colors with this thick brush. Flat brush No.12
Paint large shadows. Flat brush No.8
Paint small shadows. Round brush No.0
Paint the details. And paper
I use 190 g paper. This is not so thick, but you can do good work by taking it easy and relaxing. Sketchbook for kid's is also fine. Don't be afraid to paint more and more! If you want to send a letter or postcard to say thank you or something, you can try painting on them. Or if you have a printer, it's good idea to
take a photo or scan of your painting and print them out. That time you can choose you like the best. Pallet
I use this portable palette. It's all right you use a simple one. Pencil
I like soft lead pencil. The main topics of this class
is to use primary colors. We don't need to sketch in so much detail, so I think a soft pencil is easier to do. Sketches do not have to be perfect. I sometimes overhang my drawn lines and color them in. It adds a lively look to your art.
So You can pick whichever you want. Eraser It's just normally eraser. Probably you can find your home. The paper towel that wipes extra water from the brush. If you have painted too much, wipe it off with a paper towel to lighten the color. Water Dish We are going to use
the watercolors, so we need water. It's needed to clean the brush
and dissolve the paint. I use this glass bottle. This is the welcome flower bottle that my landlord put here when
I first visited last year. They are always so helpful. I have a class to paint their portraits together, so please take a look if you want to paint a colorful portrait. Anything is fine, So look for something
on your home. this kind of water dish. When I paint, I almost always
see the reference photo. From there I refer to shapes and shades and atmosphere. Usually I have it on my iPad, You can print it out or save it on your mobile. Even though my painting is not photo-realistic, still nice to have a photo to help my imagination gets more lively. All right, I think that's it. In the next lesson, we will start sketching.
5. Sketch: Let's start sketching. Put the reference photo in a visible position. I'll be using this photo. But if you want to follow along with a different reference photo,
Please feel free. The things that you will be learning are how to choose colors and paint. Whatever you paint, you can refer to this class. So follow along or do your own things, it's up to you. Roughly determine the overall size. It's not necessary to draw in detail so much, as the main focus is on coloring. Let's draw the points with dots. We shouldn't draw the details from the beginning, decide what size to put the whole thing on the paper. Let's follow your feeling and make a rough sketch. If you think it is out of position, erase and correct it immediately. Drawing characteristic shapes.
