2. Beginners rhythm exercises : Let's get started. I divide
this course in two parts. The first part is about
rhythm, basic harmony, Ology chords, and
some techniques to help you to play nirvana
in other songs as well. Rhythm is the most
important thing. Please pay attention
to the arrows. When you see arrow, try to
speak it louder, for example. This is going to help your brain understand the rhythm better. Remember that you can
always change the speed of the video according to
your music skill level. Think that.
4. How to find & memorize the notes on the guitar fretboard: Learn the notes on the
threat board is one of the most important things you can do when
learning the guitar. First steps about tuning. String number one is string
from this our first note is if I play threat number one minus note
is the next one. Let's check another example. String number two is a string. If I play string two
will sound like B. However, if I play
string number two, threat one minus note is C, brew three D. One takes time to memorize
the threat board, so don't worry about that,
just keep practicing.
5. How to read tabs and chord box: The first thing that you need to know is how to read card box. This show you where to put your fingers on the
fingerboard to play cards. The six vertical lines
represent the six strings. The string on the furthest
left is the thickest string. The two lines at the top of
the box represent the nut, the plastic bone
or a metal piece that these strings go
through on the headstock. And the rest of the
horizontal lines represents the threats. The dots represent the places where you put your
left hand fingers, and they are numbered to
show which finger you use. Number one is the index finger, two is the middle finger, three is the ring finger, and four is your
pinky little finger. If you have played the piano, make sure you don't
get confused. Piano finger numbering
is completely different. Guitar players generally
don't use the left hand tums. Guitar tab, or Guitar tablature is a way of writing music
specifically for guitar. And it's perfect for those
that do not read music and in many cases offers
more information than the writing notation. Anyway, Tab has six
horizontal lines that represent the six
strings on the guitar. The top line is
the tiniest string and the lowest line represents
the thickest string. The numbers that are placed on the lines tell you what
threat you play a note. You will only ever play the
strings with numbers on. If a string has no number,
don't play it does. Zero means that a string
is played open with no finger pressing down
the string on the threats.
7. Music Intervals - Formulas: Music Intervals are very
important for Music. Even more important is understanding and
being able to apply. First, I need to explain
this table to you. Note that we have
several numbers. These numbers are the formulas. Let's take an example.
Major second. It's from number one, number two, major
third number one, number three interval of fourth, F number one, number
4.1 Very easy, right? Now, the minor intervals. With this, you will
fly the flats minor second 1-2 But
following the formula, let's set a flat, so we have
from one to the second flat. Let's check another example. Minor third from one
to number three. Flat diminished fifth from number one to flat
five, and so on.
8. Music intervals tricks on the fretboard: Now it's time to learn a few musk intervals
on fret board. Yes. Now, time to
break on a guitar. You already learned
about a fury, but now it's time to
play. So let's go. So the first short
cut is you can find a fifth interval
in your public chord. You already learned
public chord also, right? So public chord is a very
common chord in rock and roll. You can play like 1.5 So
this interval right here, this position is
my fifth interval. So I'm going to play A, so 1.5 You can play this
in every single tons, For example, B F sharp, 1.51 and 5.1 You can do the same thing
in other strings also. 1.5 1.55 And you can keep doing this in
every single string, okay? The second shortcut is to 88 interval 1.8
is the same nodes. However, it is a little
bit higher, right? The sound sounds really higher. So 11 is the same position. You also can play with
finger number three, okay? However you need to
remember to don't play this string in
the middle, all right? So it's string number 55 thing. If you play everything you
need string number six, like six, don't play stringer
number five and it goes to four, okay? So if interval, my
shortcut for you and measure third is a
very important interval. For example, one in the
string number six, fret five. And measure third
is a string number five, fret four, okay? Measure third, measure
third, measure third. The same thing playing here is here is and D. I
don't need to think, oh man, I need to learning all the notes
on the fret board, you just need to remember
this kind of shortcut, okay? If you remember
this, you can play every single interval
like this, all right? So the measure third, okay? So minor third. It's one and almost
the same thing. You want to play here
half step before this. And it's a kind of, you can change your finger, it's going to be easy, right? So it's finger number 33 can do this in every
single key again. You can also go to
our other strings. String number 51, flattery, flattery, and so on. Okay, so remember this
interval is very important. One major third,
one minor again, one major third major interval. One in a minor minor internal. That's why when you
play a major board, you have this major interval
right here. All right? So it's a type of
board you already learn and it's easier
to understand. You should use as example, a minor second interval. Minor second interval
is really easy. It's a half step ahead. Your flat short, for example, and so on. You can use this, every
single key as well, and every single
string, all right? It's going to be much more easy. However major second
it's going to be one whole step ahead, F sharp. Let's change or string, all right, so you don't play this threat right here
and play the next one. It's a whole step ahead. Last shortcut for you guys
is the fourth interval. So it's one in four. It's the same threat. However,
in a different string, fret number five,
string number six, fret number five,
string number 514, you can do the same thing. You are the strings one in four. Same thing here. G
and C, 1.4 all right? And so one intervals
are very important. If then you can play cards very quickly and improve
your improvisation. So you need to
practice this, okay? So choose a few intervals and try to find on
your fret board.
9. Major and minor chords: First of all, I'm going to
teach you how to understand all the cord parts in fury and part's going
to be practicing, okay? So first of all we
have a E major scale. Okay? E, F sharp. G sharp. A, B, C sharp, and sharp. However, if I want
to do a major chord, I'm going to take
notes number 135, just 13.5 Okay, the three
notes of major chord. Next example, let's think
about all the scale. Let me see, A major,
A, B, C sharp, D, E, F sharp, and G sharp. It's
the same thing. Take notes number 13.5
and you're going to have your major chord
simple like that. A minor chord 13.5 However, now you're going to have A C, E. Okay? Mm.
10. How to memorize more than 23 major and minor chords E shape (1): Now it's time to play
every single measure and minor chords in
string number six. We are going to apply
measure, guitar shape. You're already learning
how to play measure. You have two options
you can play with these fingers or
these other fingers. In these examples, I prefer
if you play with the fingers. Okay. It will be
easy to understand. String number six, open string, finger number three, thread two, string five, String number four, threat 24, last one, finger number two, string
number three, thread one. You can play everything
from this string. The second string string, the first string will
be open as well. The idea here is to think every single time if I
play Mas right here, and I want to go a
half step ahead, I'm going to have F major. However, we have a little
problem right here, my open strings, okay? That's why I got to put
my finger number one. The next threat you can hold, every single string
will be a barrel cord. It's the same thing
if I think like this. A ghost threat right here. All right? F one
half step ahead. F sharp one half step ahead. And you can keep doing this. Let's practice. For example, if I want to play a major, stop the video right now and
try to find a major chord. Applying this measure technique, if you play exactly
the right notes, you're going to find right here in the middle
of your guitar. Okay, so let's count. Measure one step ahead,
measure F sharp, measure, measure, sharp,
measure, measure. Another example, try
to find measure, or you're going to find
measured right here. F number seven,
measure sharp measure, measure, sharp measure,
measure a sharp measure. And major can do this step
by step in every single key. Last example, let's try
to find a sharp measured. You can play exactly right here. Fred number nine, let's
count is chord F sharp. Sharp. Sharp sharp. Now it's time to
find a minor chord. It's exactly the same idea. However, with a minor chord, you already know how to play in. However, I would like to
give you a little short cut. Try to play with these
two fingers right here. We're going to be
easy to understand. Everything will be open
strings. All right. However, finger number three, you need to play
Fred number two, string five, finger number four, thread two string number four. You can imagine a Ghost
threat right here. I have step ahead. We're
going to have minor. However, we have a little
issue about open strings. So this quarter will be minor. Have step ahead, sharp minor. And you can keep doing this. All right? So we need to
to play all the strings. All right? It's a difficult
chord for beginners. Let's try a few
examples and see if you understand really
well a minor chord. Where can I play a minor chord? You should play exactly
the right notes. You are going to
play right here. F number five, minor minor, F sharp minor minor, sharp minor minor chord. Where can I play B minor chord if you play exactly the right notes are going to play right here in Fred number seven, minor minor, F
sharp minor minor, minor minor, sharp minor minor. The last example, let's try to find sharp minor will be
a little bit difficult, but the idea is the same, exactly the right notes you're
going to find right here in front number 11 in the
end of your fret board. So let's count minor minor, F sharp minor, minor,
sharp, minor minor. A sharp minor, minor, minor, sharp minor minor. Finally, sharp minor. Try to apply this technique
in practice a lot. In one or two weeks, you'll probably be playing every type of measure in minor.
11. How to memorize more than 23 major and minor chords very quickly (A shape) (1): Now it's time to
find several chords applying a guitar shape.
What do you mean with that? If you play a major chord, you can repeat the
same guitar shape step by step in that board. A major chord. I'm going to
play string number five. Open string finger number one, F two, string four. Finger number two. That two, string three and finger number
three, threat string two. If I play one half step ahead, I'm going to play a sharp major. However, I have a
little problem, my open string, so I need to
change this guitar shape. You can play like this,
same guitar shape, whoever with finger 23.4 Okay, With my finger number one
supposed open string. Okay. Now I have a sharp major, applying the same guitar
shape as a measure. You can play a measure
like this as well. However, we are going
to have an open string. You can imagine a ghost
frat right here, right? A measure, a sharp measure. One half step ahead. Same thing. Measure, and you can't keep doing
this. All right? Let's, you already
learned a guitar shape. Try to find measure. All right, Measure, We
know here, however, applying the idea of
this a guitar shape. Okay, this video. And try to find, if you play exactly
the right notes, you're going to
have a sharp sharp. And finally, D major. All right? It's very
important to pre with me. Let's try other example, Try to find a C sharp major. Same idea here. All right, we need to count
this string number five is a string count
until you find C sharp. Pass this video and try
to do this example. If you play correctly, the C sharp measure will
be in fred number four. A sharp, B, C and C
sharp measure. Okay? You can play like
this or you can change your three fingers
and play like this. Same thing. Okay? Example,
try to find an F sharp. If you play exactly
the right notes, you're going to
find right here in the end of my Fred number nine. Let's count. Sharp, sharp, Sharp, sharp measure. I play my in fret number nine. Your finger number one will
be the most important thing. All right, let's
do the same thing. However, in mind, you already know how to play a
minor chord, right? The idea here is to use
the same step by step. However, with a minor chord. A minor, you can imagine, goes right here in the end
of my fret board, right? I'm going to apply
this guitar shape to the other examples. If a minor is here, a sharp minor is right here. Minor step ahead minor,
step ahead minor. And you can keep doing this. Let's play the same extra side. Stop this visual right now and
try to find a minor chord. Applying this guitar shape, if you play exactly
the right notes, you are going to
play right here. Brater, seven minor. Let's count minor,
A sharp minor, minor minor, sharp
minor, minor minor. Let's find minor chord. Stop the video and
try to find it. You should play exactly
the right notes. You're going to play right
here, thread number three. A minor, sharp
minor, minor minor. It's very important to
practice type of exercise. Probably one or two weeks
we're going to be able to play every kind of measure in
minor for the whole board. Next example, sharp minor. Stop this video and play right. Now if you play exactly
the right notes, you're going to find right
here, D sharp minor. Threat number six, minor, sharp minor, minor minor. C sharp minor. D
minor. D sharp minor.
12. It's time to play Nirvana - Sliver : Now It's the best
part of the course. We're going to learn
a few new Ven songs. Enjoy and have Fun Sliver by Near Vanda. Let's begin with the chords. We have power chords
in the tire song. If you don't remember
power chords like this, you can play like this. Or your pinky in this case is thread number
three, string number five. Finger one, Finger number three, string number four, threat five. The last note is my
finger number four, threat number five,
string number three. You need to pick the
strings of your fingers. 543. You're going to repeat the same guitar shaping in every single
part of your neck. The first one come back to, you can play like this
is the same thing. As you can see is
really the same thing. All right. However, my advice for you guys is play like this, it's going to be easier
and faster, okay? This part of your finger
and fred number two, stringing number 4.3 obviously. Pick string number 54.3 you need to start with
string number five, okay? We just have 43 chords,
to be honest, right? C, F, N, for this song, rhythm part C, you're
going to do this rhythm. So again, same thing enough coming back
to C 1.2 okay? The last measure, down, up, down, up, okay? So, be careful at this
part to your cars. You have the cards, You can improvise a
little bit of rhythm. I don't want to
give you every step by step because it's
important to work your ears, you can improvise a
little bit, all right? So it's important Music to practice everything
you learned in rhythm. A little shortcut for you guys is stretch to
sing the melody in. Play the rhythm for example.
13. Polly: Now it's time to learn
poly by near vena. So there is just one type of
chord in the entire song. Power chords. So pay attention. I'm going to teach you to play all the power chords
very quickly. Okay? Power cord. Just have one guitar shape. Nine, 9% of the case. Okay? So this power cord, this guitar shape from this, you have finger number one, fret number five,
string number six, finger number three,
fret number seven, string number five, and
finger number four. Fret number seven is
string number four. Okay. In this example, you have 151518 is the same thing as one, but what do you mean with
these numbers, Gabriel? It's 151 of a measure
or a minor scale, okay? From this you can play with your pinky or down your pinky, the same nodes, all right? Okay, so in this example
we have a measure. Y is a measure because
this first node is A. All right, so if
you count with me, according to our tuning is F, F sharp sharp, that's why this
is a P. Right right here. We have a sharp power chord. Okay, right here, power chord. And you can keep
count like this in the string number six and
in the string number five, it's the same thing, okay? From this, let's play the Music The first power chord
is power chord. If you think you
have another threat, right here is a ghost that
you have power chord. Check the subs, the same
guitar shape that I play here. All right? It's the same thing. However, if I count my ghost, that all right, so this is the first chord you can play
like this or like this. All right? So just pick
three strings, 565.4 right? So this is the
first power chord. The second power
chord is power chord. Power chord. So it's the
same thing as A and B. However, in the
fret number three, the power chord number
three is D. Okay? In this example I play in the string number five,
fret number five. The most important
thing is check the string and the number
of the threat, okay? Tar shape is exactly the same. In this example, when I play
in the string number five, I play strings number
543. All right? In the last power chord of
the first part is C chord. In the F number three
string number five. All right, let's
think about rhythm. You have three different
rhythms and it's very important to
follow those rhythms. The first two
chords is the same. Um, so it's 23. Okay, Do try to play with me. Take a look in my right hand. Okay, Down once and again. Down, down. Okay. Car number 32 times,
Peak two times. So let's play
everything together. Two, all right, So the last part is 123, okay? This last 123 is a
little bit faster. So let's play
everything together. Check this out very slowly. Down 12123, once again, down two to three, okay? This is the first
part. Second part, first chord is D, F number five,
string number five. Second chord, you already
know this chord as well. So F number three is
string number five. Framber three, string number six in sharp or flat number six. String number six of the
same guitar shaping. The rhythm is one
times in the, in the. All right? So one to
three, it's down. And the next part
is up, down, right? So I'm going to play very
slowly check this out. Down, down, right. Once again, down, down, down. The next two chords is exactly the same
thing, down, down. All right, so I'm going to
play the entire second part. Down, down, down. All right. So the song is pretty simple. We just have two parts. So try to practice very
carefully and slowly you can change the speed
of this video, okay? And make everything
easier for you.
14. All apologies : To play. Apologies by Nerver. I'm going to use
Standard Tuning. However, my string number six, I'm going to tune
in D. All right, so one whole step down. If you are going
to play this song with the original song, please tune your instrument. Half step down and
your string number 61. Hole in half step down. The first part is string number six and you're
going to play 9109. All right. Next
step is ten to 12. Play 121 more time. 10.9 All right. I'm going to play
everything very slowly. Okay? Once again, it's important to let this ring the
string ring. Okay? Second part is we have
almost the same thing. Open string 9109, if you
prefer, play the second line. You can play string
number six together. Okay? It's going to sound
very nice like this. Okay? And the last part is
exactly the same thing. However, on a string
number 412, 1,210.9 Okay? As you can see, I
play with my fingers number 12.3 All right. So let's play the first part
of second part together. Part number three is exactly
the same as part number one. So yeah, part number four. Same thing. All right, and the last part
is a little bit different. So we play 11,119.7 on
the string number three. Okay? So let's play
everything together. First part oh, once and again, you can play with this slide
or down this slide, okay? It's up to you, but I
prefer with this slide. So this is the most
important F of the song. And you're going to repeat
this several, several times. In the next part is going
to be this bar right here. In this case we have a kind of Barr string over 65.4 okay? You can play like this or
if you are like a measure. All right, But instead of
play here, you'll play here. Because of our tuning, we are going to sound like short drums, Pas, yeah. Then come back to the top. As you can see I play this
kind of chord in this Njord, in this case right here. With this chord, you
can play the chord and play of Pak's. But critico being
usually play this chord, you play some kind of Paz
improvise it or Pago, just play the strings. The sequence is up to you. All right, so this
is the entire song, it's very simple,
and you come back to the top and play
exactly the same thing. It's a very repeated song, but it's a very
nice song for Brex.
15. Rape me: It's time to learn pin by
near vena. The first part is, as you can see, we
have a major part. The major part to
play on the guitar. You can play with this
shape right here, the regular one you're going to play on the
electric guitar. I prefer this shape as critical band user to
play singer number one. F number three in the board part right here
in the F number five. Take strings number 43 in two or you can play
three fingers like this, but I think it's easier
with three fingers. Next part is minor chord
and the last part is chord. But this is a little
bit different. I played out my
finger number one. Okay. The chords are very easy. I'm going to play this chord session during
the entire song, but the most important part
is the ridden session. It's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, okay? As you can see this 345, I play with my
alternating picking 345 and play the
chords the down, okay? One more time, Two times, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, okay? You can repeat the
same pattern to G chord if you play
everything together. It's going to sound very
similar to the males, like hesper, isn't it? But it's important to listen to the song and take
by this difference. Okay, so let's go to 52. To 52, okay? This session you're going to
play during the entire song. But the second part you're
going to play with a pages. It's going to sound
like this, right? You have a open string F number
two, string number three. Number string number three open. It's kind of C major
Pj. All right? So fret number three, threat number two, open. You play string number
56 open. All right? So it's going to sound like this one more time, all right? The next part is minus F number
two, string number four. F number five on string sorry, fret number two,
string number five. Then we have G core. So it's going to
sound like this. The lower part of a right genes frag number 3.2 So you play on
the string number 65, an open string on the
strings number 34, Okay? Fair play. Everything very low is going to sound like this, okay? It's important to
let the strings ringing. All right, So this is the part. But we have a bridge as well
during this song, right? So we had C sharp, so the melon of the bridge is something like that
I'm not going to sing, but just just give
you some idea of the melo because it sing
terribly. So let's go. All right, and you
start from the top. As you can see we have
C sharp sharp measure. If you can play with the board core of the
or with the two fingers mas coreferent guitar shape. The same shape however in the
number one as you can see, play with a board. Sure to play on the
acoustic guitar, you can play the red, it's you and this last
part you stay in. All right, and come
back to the top. As you can see Rickman Pioneer
Vintages have three port. It's important to
listen to the song and recognize all those ports. All right, now it's
time for prating.
16. Love buzz : Sam, Learn Love Buzz
By near Vernon. I'm going to play with
the standard tuning, but if you play with the song, tone your guitar or a C guitar. One half step up. Yes, one half step up. Strings going to be a string, is going to be B flat
or A sharp and so one. Okay. So the first part is okay, as you can see, the bass is going to play exactly
the same thing, but sometimes the guitar play the same F. You can
play flat number 71, string number four, or you
can play fret number seven. Open string string number five. Sounds very nice to Otis. All right. Next part is 578-67-6676 is with hammer. Okay. So it's the play the
hammer in the pull off. So let's play
everything together. You can play your
finger number three on the hammer on with finger number 1.2 and come back with your
finger number three, K. It's gonna sound easier prac, very carefully. Second part is okay, and have a very fast red. So you're going to play open
string string number one, open five to three, and open with just one pick. Okay? It's a very nice pull off. Second part is exactly
the same thing, however, string number two, okay? If you play everything together, it's going to sound like this. Be careful because sometimes it's difficult to play
this part very fast. Sometimes you miss the
picking part, okay? Be careful with that.
This is the second part. And the third part is
when he plays the chord. Just the chord, the
chord of the song. The song is amazing, love best. And just have one single
chord you can play here, right here, all right? It's important to
listen to the song, memorize all those parts, in recognize these parts
inside the song, okay? I'm not going to tell
you to repeat this brief 3546 times or 1234. It's important to
learn the song, okay? The steps of the song, the part of the songs. And listen to music and
recognize all those parts. And count all those parts
by yourself. All right? So this is the second part of
our learning process, okay. Now it's time to press, Memorize the sports,
and play with the song.
17. Smells like teen spirit solo: Now, same learning how to
play Mel's ching spirit solo. Let's take a close look. So at the beginning of
this song you have five on string number three, okay? And 4.6 on a string
number two, all right? My advice for you
guys is play with finger number 21.3 okay? So let's play one more time. Pretty simple, right? The next, as you can see in
the bar number one. So you're going to play
with your finger number one in the F number one, okay? String number three. After this part,
you play four on the string number two with your finger number
three and play a band. One whole step band. Okay? Try to tune
this band by year, okay? This is the right sound. Be careful, because you can play a half step band
is going to sound terrible, like this, okay? One whole step band. That's why I play with
my finger number three. It's going to make
everything easier. Okay. Your finger number two can help. Your finger number
three as well. And you play 2.1 on
the same string. Okay? So from the beginning. Right one chewing one once and again on the
board number three. Okay? 3.1 however, on
the string number three. Okay? So as you can see
on the table tour, the number is the
number of the bar. All right? And here you have
three a half step band. Okay? Up and down, 1.0 everything on a string,
number three. All right. So one more time, try to play your bands with
your finger number 3. 1, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 0, and 3. All right? My last note is in a different string,
string number four. Okay? Pay attention. You are going to play 10. It's like a pull off zero
once and again, three. This part is very fast. Check this out. Okay? Be careful
when you play this part. You're going to repeat this two times since the bar number 1, bar number four, Al right, In the end of the
bar number four, you come back to bar number one, play exactly the same thing, now it's bar number five. Okay, don't forget about that. You're gonna play a few times, four times, and this last note is the end of the guitar solo. Let me know if you have any kind of doubts about this solo. It's a very nice solo. I think it's one of
the first guitar solos I have learned in the past. Okay. All right. I hope you enjoy this
class. See you later.
18. Analyzing Nirvana's guitar solo: Time to analyze males like
chin spirits guitar solo. Let's understand the whole step by step during the guitar solo. There's another
guitar and he plays, there's the same thing
as danger, okay? So he plays F, B flat flat, and D
flat, all right? Everything is power
or as you can see, he follows F minor scale. Soviets first note note number four flat a number three, the minor third interval, D flat, that is
minus six interval. According to the
Musky composition. You need to follow the scale. You need to choose the notes, Base it on a scale. The first guitar lick is a flat. And every single the
scale of All right, minor, you can think
in two patterns. Pattern number one that is mode, and pattern number two
that is locum mode. I'm not talking about
different scale and in this part of
the neck he plays lo. I'm just talking about patterns. Okay. So you have a first pattern and the
second pattern right here. Begin in F number three, okay? Lou's going to fit perfectly
in the solo, all right. Same thing right here, flat seven or seven. And the first nodes
D flat, okay? 65 of our minor scales. Part of the soul. He keeps
playing in F minor scale. However you can,
you can easily see the is exactly the string number three of the lion mode. All right? If you try to add a note that is not
from minor scale, it's gonna sound really weird. Check this out
really weird, right? It's not going to sound so good. I add a note, so it's a measure third instead of a flat that is a minor third. The song is in minor, so you need to apply a
minor third interval, a measure third interval, A minor third and a major third. It's going to sound
really strange. And the last part is, it's a minor second minor second flat flat flat. Why he finished with F? F is the tone of the
song, minor, okay? When you are composing a
solo or Cada arrangement, or even improvising, you need to think the main
three notes wrote. So this is the first
notes of your scale. Third measure tour or
minor and fifth, okay? So most of the leaks
in the smelling spirit begins or finish in 13 or
five of the co. All right. I hope you enjoy this class
and let's keep learning. This is the last
lesson of our course. I hope you enjoy all my lessons. Thank you so much and
see you. Bye bye.
