About This Class

In this class, we will be making transparent floral stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate. I really love transparent stickers as they always look nice no matter where you stick them. The transparent background makes it extra special. I especially love the floral designs. They look really pretty for example to decorate journals and to stick to transparent binders. We will design our stickers on Procreate then send them to the Cricut Design Space to have them printed and cut them on the Cricut Joy.

By the end of this class, you will have beautiful transparent floral stickers that you’ve created and designed yourself.

UPDATE ON CRICUT JOY

Hello there! I've now published my latest (and final) sticker class on Skillshare - Let's Make Stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate. Please have a check here: https://skl.sh/48Ixv0A

If you have read my post before, I wrote about the Cricut Design Space being updated. It is now asking to register your machine. So I cannot anymore change my Cricut Joy to Maker to print my stickers. If you have joined my sticker classes, you know this step. So my latest class is a small update to my sticker classes where we learn a new method of creating our stickers so that we can continue to make stickers on Cricut Joy. This doesn't mean that my previous classes are outdated. I’m just adding a simple step to the process. Please check it out. Thanks!

Teacher

Hi! I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. While others may say that they have been drawing since the first time they held a pen (which I think we all did), I can honestly say I learned to draw later in life. It was in 2019 that I established myself as an entrepreneur and made visualisation and illustrating as my main work. I've conducted creative facilitation that incorporates the practical and effective use of visuals. With my Masters degree in Communication, I've supported organisations' communication processes by placing organisational communication into visual context. I've illustrated for the Non-Profit organisations and for the development filed. I've also conducted Visualisation workshops to those who desire to be more visua... See full profile

1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. In this class, we'll be making transparent florals stickers. I really love transparent stickers as they always look nice no matter where you stick them. That transparent background makes it extra special. I especially love the floral designs. They look really pretty, for example to decorate journals and to stick to transparent binders. We will design our stickers on Procreate, then send them to the Cricut design space to have them printed and cut them on the Cricut Joy. By the end of this class, you will have beautiful transparent floral stickers that you've created design yourself. I really hope to see you in class. 2. Class Project: For the class project, we will be making transparent floral stickers. We would need an iPad and Apple pen or any stylus that you have, the Procreate app and the Cricut design space. We will use the Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat a transparent printable sticker paper, a printer, and a cutter or scissors. I really like working on the 4.5 X 6 .5" mat As it allows me to print more stickers on an A4 sticker paper. I'll be providing the template that will serve as a guide when we cut our stickers on the Cricut Joy You will find the template in the class resources section. 3. Designing the Stickers: Now it's time to design our stickers on Procreate. First, let's download the template, then add a layer to start drawing our floral designs. We are going to draw simple flowers. However, the shapes are really important here. Usually when we draw flower, we draw this basic shape. But when you fill it in, it doesn't look so nice because it just looked like a big black object. So when you draw, choose a more distinctive design. For example, try to separate the petals or give a bit detail to the design. Let's start drawing. I'm using monoline pen size 30. I suggest to have six to eight designs depending on the size that you're going for. And also draw each design on separate layers. When we're done with our design, Let's duplicate this file. Since we're resizing the floral designs, I would like to keep the original file. So now we can start resizing and arranging the designs on the file that we just copied. Once you're happy with the placement of the stickers, remove the background and the template. Save this as PNG, then send it to the Cricut design space. Also, don't forget to send the template to the Cricut design space. 4. Drawing the Template: So here we are on the Cricut design space. Let's start a new project. First, we upload the template. Follow me in this process. Be sure that the template is 4 X 6 " in size. Position to zero. Select the template and put it to draw, then take the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat. And we're going to draw on the mat to help with the cutting of stickers later. Be sure to change the blade to pen. Follow me in this process. So now we have a guide where we will put a stickers for cutting. 5. Printing the Stickers: Now we will upload the sticker designs. It is the same process as uploading the template. Then we will put the sticker designs on the template. Then select all the files and click, Attach, then duplicate. We are duplicating so that we can print two sheets on an A4 sticker paper. Select all then position to zero. Then attach. As you might already know, the Cricut Joy doesn't have the ability to print and cut. So I will choose the setting on the upper right corner to Maker. Then set the print, then click, Make it. Then continue and send to a printer. Unselect Add, bleed, then print. Please be careful when you remove the sticker paper from the printer. as the ink is still wet, it will take a long, long time for it to dry. So just be patient. Now we have two beautiful sheets of stickers. Let's cut the sheets. Be sure not to cut the template. Place one on the mat, placing it exactly on the template. For this one, I'm not going to touch the designs as they might still be wet. 6. Cutting the Stickers: Now let's go back to our canvas by clicking Cancel. Select All then detach. Let's remove the other sticker sheet as we can only cut one sheet at a time. So select the sheet then delete. Before we start cutting, let's add the offset. Select stickers. Be sure not to select the template. Click offset, then you can choose how thick the offset would be. The important thing here is that there is enough space between the designs. The offset will guide the cutting of the stickers. Uncheck the sticker design. Then select offset and the template. Then attach. Change the operation to basic cut. We can change back to Cricut Joy. Then make it. Choose on mat. Continue. For the base material, we will be using card stock. The pressure is less. Now let's change the pen to blade. Load the mat with the sticker sheet on, then go. Unload And now it's ready. We have created beautiful transparent floral stickers. 7. Thank You: Thank you for joining me in this class. I hope you have learned something about sticker making by using Cricut Joy and Procreate. I also hope that you enjoy the process of creating transparent floral stickers. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your floral stickers and share them in the project gallery section. And please don't hesitate to leave a review too. Thanks. Bye for now and see you again soon.
