1. INTRO: WELCOME TO THE CLASS! : Welcome to the absolute beginner course for Instagram reels. In this course, you will learn why Instagram Rails is the number one opportunity for growth right now and how to use the app to get your best results. We will walk through our Seven Day Challenge. Learn how to strategize yourself for three times the growth on Instagram. This course is for anyone who has struggled on Instagram and has very little likes, views and followers. And in this course we will work out how you can stand out on the Instagram platform using its new feature, Instagram rails. Let's get started.
2. STORIES VS REELS: What's the difference between Instagram Stories and Instagram rails? Very simple and important things. The first thing, Instagram Stories disappears after 24 hours. Instagram real stays on your feed like your normal posts do. It is through Instagram reels that you are more than likely to be put on the Explore page. And you're more than likely to be exposed by people who do not follow you. You're more than likely to get three times more views on your Instagram reels versus your stories. The other thing is that stories are 15 seconds, but Instagram reels are actually 15 to 30 seconds. On Instagram reals, you want to format them and structure them so that they keep people engaged and keep people watching for as long as possible. The whole idea here is, the longer that people want to watch your real videos, the more that Instagram algorithm will share that video to more and more people. So there's a difference between Instagram Stories and Instagram rails. And I hope that gives you more insight into why focusing on Rails is the best way to grow right now.
3. Your Class Assignment is a 7 DAY CHALLENGE: Hello, welcome to your assignment, or shall I say challenge, okay? This is a seven day challenge. This is not going to be easy. But if you are able to partake in the seven day challenge, then you should see incredible growth and rapid results. Okay? Also keep in mind that in this section, you're going to follow me as I do and partake in the seven day challenge. You'll be able to see the videos that I created. What was the idea behind each strategy? And I'll show you the results and we'll look for the ones that were not so great and will also identify the winners. So this is a very important section and a really important assignment for you to do. Okay, so here are the things that you need to keep in mind for your Seven Day Challenge. The first thing is you want to identify your current audience. You want to consider what are the things that they want to learn from? You, write down a list of at least ten things that you think your audience is intrigued, interested, or want to learn from you, okay? These ten things are great content ideas that you can create in your Rails. Makes sure that when you create these tutorial education advice type of reals that you put text in the first five seconds of each real. If you need to learn how to do the texts, just go back to the editing section of the course and you should be able to find how to do your text. Now, these educational tutorial advice type of videos can be mixed in with some of your more entertaining videos, but it is highly stressed and suggested. You do per taken at least ten of these editing videos. Now for a seven day challenge, it's recommended that you post two to three times a day. So that is at least 14 videos that you'll be doing within seven days. However, you're more than welcome to do more than 14 videos. If you are able to do so. After seven days, I want you to take a look at your view count, look at the comments, look at the videos, and figure out which of the videos are the ones that are working the best for you. Then go down into the community Q&A board and share with us what it is that you have found. Okay, it's so great because this is a new feature to Instagram, to have a community in which people can share what is working for them and what did not work for them, so that we can have this information and build upon it. So that is your 7-day challenge. I'll see you in seven days.
4. How many times do I POST a day?: How often do you need to post on rails to start, start seeing growth? Well, the moment that you upload a video, you're more than likely it's again, three to four times more views on your Instagram reels video, then on your normal posts and feed on Instagram and stories. So already with one post, you're gonna find that you have increased fuse, but to really expand your, your growth and to get people to see you and to want to follow you. You're going to want to start posting to the three times a day. This is going to give you a chance to experiment. The other thing about this, especially when we're first starting out, is that the more that you post, the better that you get at it. So you'll get more information as to what topics and what types of reals work the best for you. And then you can just repeat. And you also get to practice your own workflow and be able to create a structure of working and creating videos that is almost like a system and starts to work itself out. So especially in our starting phases, we want to post at least two to three times a day.
5. HOW TO FIND REELS ON INSTAGRAM: How to access your Instagram rails. You'll log into Instagram. And IG Rails. Ig Rails will either open up automatically or you will just click over to the camera. Click the camera, and that is how you get into your IT rails. You click the camera, and that is how you get into your IGES.
6. Editing Walkthrough #1: Video Length, Adding Music, Speed: So we're on the creation screen here, and on the left side you're going to see this icon for 15. This is the length of time that you can record. So you can choose a 15 or 30 seconds. Now, under the length of time, you can choose music, This is where you can upload music by clicking the music icon. And you'll see that there are some recommendations here. You also can save whatever song you want to save, and you can search for songs Under the music icon is the option for speed. So you can slow it down or speed it up. Point 3x is slowing down, 0.5, x is slowing down. And then 1X that 3x is speeding. Okay? So let's take, for example, we are going to record this window. So we will choose the point 3X speed, slow it down. And then we're going to click the video that we're taking. Right? So we stopped midway. So the video that we're taking should be slowed down. And to check that, it'll go to the menu here. And you'll click the back arrow, which shows you the video that you took and the speed that you chose to take it in. Now, you can delete an entity that we're taking. So you'll see that it also records the audio. So any audio you use will be sped up or slowed down. So you can choose the delete button if you don't like it, or you can click the edit button. And this will allow you to trim down if you like, a shorter version of what you just took, okay. If you're fine with it, they cancel. If you want to change it, they know hit true. Ok. And you can always tap the screen in order to pause the video. You'll just hit cancel there because we like it. But if we wanted to trim it, we could trim it and then hit trend. Okay. And then it would say done. And there you go.
7. Editing Walkthrough #2: Effects : We've gone through the length of time, we've gone through adding music, and we've gone through speed. So the next option is this icon. And these are the effects. When you click this icon, you'll see that there are effects options at the bottom. Let's take a look at some of them. So you'll see that different effects can be placed here and give the video different looks and aesthetics. Some effects have music on them as well. You actually have the option of finding more effects from your favorite artists. Now you would do that by going down to the bottom and clicking this right here. You'll see that it's actually the title of whatever effect it is that you're on at the moment. You are not on an effect, the option isn't there. So this may be a change that Instagram will do later on. In order to find more effects, you have to have clicked on one of the effects, okay, click the title of the effect, and you'll see that you have some options here. The first one is to save it. This is a really good feature because you may not always be ready to record the moment that you find a great effect. So you may just be scrolling on any random time and you're like, wow, have really loved this effect, but I'm not going to record right now. So the save option is awesome because you can just save as much effects as you want. And then when it's time to record, you'll have it logged and saved for you. The other option here is to send two. And that would mean that you could send the effect to any of your friends. The other option is to browse effects, and this is where you would find other options and other effects from different artists on Instagram. You'll see here that the suggested amount of effects, as soon as you are on that page, you can click following and it will show you the created effects from the artists that you are already following. Then you'll see selfie effects. You'll see love, color, light, styles, moves. The options are endless here I think a lot of people do miss this when they're first starting out. So it's good that we can show you all of the options that you can do with these effects are so awesome. So this one right here is the VHS mood effect. And then you'll see at the bottom here that it says triads. You can click that. And we'll just flip this around. And there you go. When you're ready to record, you'll just click this middle button right here. And you can start recording it right there from that menu. Ok. Now in the, when you click it, it has triumph. But what else does it have here? It has another saved option, another send option. Now when we go back to the Options, you'll see that there's this triple dot option, which gives you more options. And you'll see there that it also offers to share the effect like to find out more about the account that created it, to view the licensing, to report it. If there's a problem or to even remove it from your saved effects if you'd like. Okay. So that is the effect option.
8. Editing Walkthrough #3: Timer: The final icon is really important and will help you to improve and create great quality videos. And that's the timer. The timer is so important because it allows you to prep ahead of time so that you are ready. Once the video begins to record, when you click the icon, you'll see the timer countdown is three seconds. And it says here to dragged, choose how long the clip will be. So this is where you can decide if you want to be 15 seconds or shorter. Remember that you can always go back and click the length of time to thirty-seconds if you'd like it to be longer and then go back to the timer and have a longer amount of time. Okay, so you'll just click set timer. And once you begin to record yourself, you'll see the timer happens. And then you can begin your video. So the timer works before every single recording, which means that you have the option to record yourself several times during a video, which means before each recording, you'll have to click the timer, set the timer, and then go. You'll have to reset it every time. And that is the timer.
9. How to UPLOAD a video to Reels: Hi everyone. So we are going to open up our Instagram app. We're gonna go down to the menu and click the icon button for Instagram reals. And then in the bottom left-hand corner is where you'll click. You'll choose a video that you want to apply. First edition of unfinished. And you'll see that you'll need to chop down your video to either 15 or 30 seconds. In addition. Okay, so you can add a clip and edit and trumpet. And then if you want to add another clip, you would just go back into your videos and choose that clip. Now what I'm doing is trimming the actual video, the same video. So I'm gonna click that same piece of unfinished. Then we're just gonna go back in and add one more. So you continue to edit it until you have filled all of your time. Okay, so once you have edited your video and you have all the time that you all of your time is filled up. You're gonna go and click the next arrow right here, first edition. And this should review to show you the edit.
10. HOW TO RECORD VIDEOS IN IG REEL: Okay, I'm going to show you how I make a real. So the first thing we wanna do is choose if you want 15 or 30 seconds, I chose 30 seconds. And then I know what kind of song, what song I wanna use. So I'm just looking up here now this video showing people my hair routine in the morning. So I'm going to show before and then show like how I take my hair down. And then after, this is going to require me to take various video clips. So I'm going to show you how I do that. Ok. So we've picked our time, we've picked our music, And now I'm going to use the timer and begin recording myself right there. Okay. So you'll see that I do my recording. When I'm done, I click stop, and then I proceed to do the second part. I choose the timer again, we hit play. And as you can see at the very top, the first part is what I recorded first. The second part is what I'm recording now. Then I hit stop. Okay, so now I'm going to do a little bit more with my hair just to show the next thing that I do with my hair, which requires me to get a product. So I'm gonna do that. And you'll see that in the top here. It's showing you that your first second recording are still in the queue, right? So the next time that I press record, it's going to continue to record after this moment or it can record all the way to the end and hit 30 seconds. So this is one way to do your wheels. You can record them in that moment. Stop, do what you need to do. Maybe you have to do an outfit change or maybe you're shifting something around in the room or something, then you will come back, hit the timer, set yourself up for that time when to have everything recorded and have all your text. Then you'll just move on to hit the white arrow on the right hand side. And that will bring you to post and write in your description and include your hashtags. That is one way to record your wheels.
11. Learn the Align Tool for Smooth Transitions!: Hi everyone. I'm gonna show you now how to use the align Edit. Ok, the align edit is really cool. It's a little tricky, so I wanted to walk you through it so you feel comfortable using it. Ok. So the align edit would show up right here at the bottom. It's not here right now because what you have to do, the first thing you have to understand about the aligned edit is that you need to have a video already recorded. Ok, so we are going to do a video. It's going to be a transition video. I have no lipstick gone and then I will have lipstick on. Let's add some music. Now that we've got our music, We've got our facts. That's go ahead. Okay. Sorry about that. Okay. So you saw that my move was my transition move was that I put my kiss to the camera. Ok, so now we want to use the align edit to that. When I change lipsticks from nothing to this, it will almost look like it happens in that moment. Ok, so let's go ahead. Second Lipstick. Look. Okay, so now we'll go back to our effects, which are affects isn't. We could also do a different effects so that it has a different look to it. There we go. Ok, and now here's how the line works. You'll click the align and you'll see that this is me in the camera, but there's a picture of me kissing leukaemia right there. So what you would want to do with the smooth transition that align gives you is to try to match that image. So I'm gonna put myself as much illness close. So first you will start with clicking the align. Then you're going to click the timer, set your time up. And then if we're using an effect, quick effect. And this is how the transition looks like. So that is how you do the alignment, and I hope that is helpful for you.
12. Cover Photo - editing on INSTAGRAM REELS: I'm going to show you how to edit text and time your text in Instagram Rails. Okay, so let's first record a video. Okay, so now that there were videos recorded, we are going to add our text. You'll click the icon at the very top and write your first techs. You'll see that it shows up in the bottom left-hand box. Ok. And then you'll also see the scroll screen where you can change the barriers at ends, right? So you can move them in and you can extend them all the way out. This is actually connected to your text. So we wrote high, we're going to decide where we want to click that. We'll put that in the beginning of the video. You'll see that when it turned gray, that means that it's going to disappear. Okay, so let's go ahead and add our next text. Okay? So now it says, My name is this text is going to be after the first box, right? So we're going to click, click that box and make sure it's highlighted in white. And then you'll just scroll over to the right. And now we actually have the text coming in after. We have the second text coming in after the first one. Okay. So you can scroll it over and you'll see that it says hi. And then after that, it will say My name is impactful comment after that. But when you scroll all the way back, we'll see that it says high, right? And then that goes away. And then the My name is comes in. We want to move that a little bit more forward to that comes in after the first box. And it should be actually great in the beginning. There we go. The app is maybe having some bugs in it, but it would be gray there. And then we'll turn white there. So it will be gray in the beginning. And then My name is turns white when it showing up in the video. And you can click back and forth between the two boxes here. If you want to edit the first one again. Okay. So we'll add one more. Okay? And you'll see that it will just grow that over so that it comes in right after. Ok. And that's how you do it. Once you are happy with how your texts is laid out, you would hit the arrow. Now, let's also talk about the fact that you can't change your text whenever you want to change it, different color or add a box behind it. So we're on the last box right now. Okay, let's click that. And you'll see that here. You can click the colors and do a different color. Okay? You can also click it. And this square box here on the right will allow you to have a background and then you can change the color of the background. It will change the color of the text. Okay? And then you can change the color of the background as well. You can turn it off, you could turn on. Okay. So that is how you can change an add color to your texts as well. And then again, once you're happy with how everything is, you'll just click this box right here, this arrow. You'll click this arrow right here. It'll bring you to the post page where you want to write your caption. You can also click the cover and change the cover here as well. And it's actually good to have a really good cover because this is what people will see when they are scrolling through and finding your real, okay. So once you're happy with everything, you'll hit share and that's it.
13. OOPS ! I need to edit that last video..on INSTAGRAM REELS: Let's say that you recorded one piece of your content and you didn't like it and you want to change it, are deleted or edit it. So this is how you do that. You'll click the back arrow and then on the bottom of the screen you'll find your previously recorded videos. You can choose whichever video you would like. And then you can choose to either delete or edit. Then you'll click Done.
14. Reels Remix Tutorial: Welcome everyone to this Rails tutorial. I'm going to show you a new feature on reels that has just been added. It's called a remix. Now this is similar to tick tock. Tick tock has a duet option. This duet option allows for you to create a reactionary video to another video on Instagram Reels. So let's begin the tutorial on how to create your own Instagram Reels remix. You'll see that this is the original video that I'm going to react to. So let me show you how I do that right now. So you go down to the double three dots here in the bottom right. You're going to click that. You'll see here that I can disable the remixing for this video. This is because this is my videos, so I'm allowed to do that. Okay. You can also turn off commenting if you wanted. That's fine. I don't need to do that. I'm fine with whatever comments come. Ok. And you'll see at the bottom it says remix this real. You're gonna go ahead and click that. And here we go. We have the video of me. And there is on the other side, the real that I'm going to be creating are responding. Now, you have all of the features. Here on the left side, we're going to add a count down for three seconds. And then once we hit Play, the countdown will begin to one. Let's try that again. Ha, so let's say you didn't like what you did, then you can just go backwards. All right, we're going to hit the X. Discard that video. We're going to have to heat rate, hit the timer, set timer there. And then we'll go again. I didn't have the volume up so I can hear the music. So we're just going to take that and we're going to go down 321. That is the Remix right there. All right, so you can do all kinds of cool things with your remixes on Instagram Reels. But that is how you do it. So once you're complete, you're happy with your remixed. You'll hit Share too. And it will bring you to this page and you would just go ahead and post.
15. Hashtag strategy: Now I'm going to walk through the hashtag strategy. This is going to give you an idea of how I look up hashtags. And I'll show you in my notes that I actually have like three different categories of hashtags. Now, for me, my category is connected to music. So you'll see that most of my hashtags are connected to music hashtags. But I also have certain ones that are more connected culture like brown skin girl, black girls, Brock, You know, because that's kinda my culture. But these are also the hashtag I've found to have the most use on Instagram. So that's the thing. On Instagram. We are going to use hashtags for our reels that have at least 10 thousand uses or more, it's actually preferrable to be over a 100 thousand. But we can start with 10 thousand. And I'm going to show you what that means right now. So we'll go into Instagram, will click the search button and we'll go straight to looking up tags. I'm gonna type in one hashtag that I've been using a lot, which is about curly hair. And you'll see here that it has hashtag curly hair than has hashtag curly hair styles. So all of these up at the top would be good options for me to use. And honestly, all of these would be great options. So you can pick and choose which ones you think are the most connected to you. But you'll see here that in CRM shows you that this top one curly hair has 30.6 million posts. So that is the number that I'm referring to. When I say, you know, more than 10 thousand, you want to have a hashtag that has been used, more than 10 thousand Now this one that has 30 million posts, that is quite a competition, ok? So it may not necessarily be one that I choose either. Or it might actually, it may be something that I use, but I wouldn't use this alone. And fat, you want to have more than five hashtags, five minimum hashtags on your reals, okay, so you could use one that has 30 million posts, but then maybe you want to combine it with one that has maybe 18 thousand or a 134 thousand like this curly haired one or this curly hair routine one which is 2xy 3K. So all of these are great options because you can mix and match and see if that brings you more. Excite, more views. Now, I want to click on this again, curly hair hashtag because I want to show you that when you click the hashtags, you'll see that a real pops up. Now if you are searching for our hashtag, and a real does not pop up for that hashtag. More than likely the hashtag is not strong enough to be in a real and so are probably would recommend to use a different one if you definitely want to be able to click a hashtag and c are real. So let's actually look for a hashtag that might have less. Like for instance, this one says curly hair videos. Ok, let's click this one and see if this one has a real. This one has a real. So this would also be an excellent hashtag. Not only does it have a reel, right? So it connects to reals, but it's also at 16 thousand posts. So that's a way less competitive post. And yes, you will find certain hashtags that don't, that when you click them there is not a real so I know that sounds, that might sound a little silly, but you definitely want a hashtag that hazard wheel. The other thing that you want to do is focus on the first 3-5 seconds of that real. What is it that you see in that real? Because this was the featured real for this hashtag. So this shows you that it's this type of quality video and format video that actually does the best for this hashtag. And you can use that to inform you about the, the way that you will use your content as well. So you can pick him pull from different videos and, you know, try to use some of their formats or some of the things that they're doing in order to be featured like they are featured as well. Okay, so that is the hashtag strategy that I recommend is to look up some great hashtags on Instagram, make sure that they have reals. Then go ahead and post them somewhere where you can group them together with other great hashtags.
16. Keep them Watching Hack #1: Hi everyone. So it is Corinne Williams. Welcome back. In this section, I want to talk to you about hacks for better engagement. Okay? What I've discovered as I've continued to trial Instagram Reels. And one of the first things that I find is really trending right now, okay, meaning trending, meaning may change. But as I'm creating this video for the course, adding text to your videos is a big trend, okay? This is coming from all types of platforms that are like real, specifically tick tock, okay, so tiktok and reals and very similar. Also, YouTube shorts are also very similar. These are all the similarities and trends that they're all sharing, okay? Adding text whenever you are doing any sort of speaking actually helps engagement. It helps to keep people watching your video for a long time. And while you may say that while on Instagram Reels, I only have 30 seconds and people are not watching my video for thirty-seconds. You actually only have two or three seconds that actually engage people. And the things that some people have their volumes off. So they're not able to hear what you're saying. So if you're speaking in any way, or let's say you're a singer and you're singing lyrics. If there's anything that has words, do it. Try adding text, okay, to Instagram Reels. Check out the section where I give you a tutorial on how to add text through Instagram reels. You can use a third party app. One of the ones that I like to use is in shot. However, there's a little bit of a glitch happening on, on Instagram reels in which adding, using their tech seems to work better. Sometimes you might find that the text gets spread out and expands too wide if you use like another platform. But if you're having success with another platform, then go ahead. But definitely you want to add text as my number one hack.
