1. Class Introduction: What's up, everybody.
This is Yi. Welcome to another
step by step tutorial. Today we are going to draw to the Rocky Shoto from
my hero academia, hence the red color and the
white color for the hair. This course will be
divided into three parts. We are going to
start by sketching, then moving on to inking
and finally coloring. By the end of the class, I want you all to
take a picture of the drawing you did and submit it so I can give
you some feedback. So without further ado,
let's go down to business.
2. How to sketch : Okay, so today we are
going to learn how to draw to the rocky from
my hero Academia. If you'll check the
description box, you can see all the materials I'm using for this tutorial, along with Amazon product links. Okay, so the first
thing we're going to do is draw a perfect square. Each side is 6 centimeters, but you can draw it in any size. You want to just make sure to
use a suitable paper size. Okay, so we are going to start by drawing the
shape of the face. Next, we are going to use
this guideline to mark the placing of the eyes that will help us to keep
the right proportions. To create the eye,
I'm going to draw up three curved lines and
we'll add the upper eyelid, draw the iris at the center, at the pupil, and some
lines to refine the iris. Next, we are going
to draw the eyebrow again by using three lines. As you can see it gets
thinner towards the edge. And now we are going to do the exact same process
for the left side. Awesome. So now we
can draw the nose. It's actually really easy. All you have to do is
just draw two lines, and then a few lines above. Next, we're going
to draw the mouth. It's about the center of
the second rectangle, and then we'll add
the bottom lip. And now we can draw the ears. So first, I'm going
to draw the shape of the ear and then
add the details. As opposed to dragon ball Z, here you don't have
so much details. And if you want to maintain the right proportions,
you can use ul. Awesome. So now we got a
nice little bold face, but it's time to add some hair. So we're going to
start with the banks. For this joint, I want the wind to come
from the right side, so we're going to enjoy hair
blowing in the wind a bit. As you can see, I'm drawing some curves and I'm pulling
them to the left side. Now, gradually, I'm going to go up because as you can see, is right side is red and
the left side is white. So we are going to separate. Now I'm going to add some lines in the direction of the hair. And we're going to do the same
process for the left side. Again, it's going
to blow in the wind a bit to create each lock, use two curved lines. And I'm going to refine it a
bit to keep the proportions. Awesome, so we are
done with the face, and now we can
focus on the torso. So first, I'm going
to draw the neck. I'm going to add
the neck muscles and the trichia and
as you can see, I'm also marking
the shaded areas by using some random lines. Next, I'm going to draw
the shape of the torso. So we're going to start with the trapeze muscles and the
shoulders all the way down. I'm going to mark the
center of the torso, and now once I get the shape, I can add all the details. So we're going to start
by drawing it color. As you can see,
even his color is slightly to the left again
because of the wind. Now I'm going to add
the straps of his bag, and I'm actually
gonna change it. It's supposed to be to
the other side, my bed. And now we're going to add
the details for the strap. Once we are done with that, we can add some
crises, and of course, the strap is gonna go beneath
his arm, just like that. Awesome, so we are going to do the same process
for the right side. And now we are going
to refine his color. I looked at his
character sheet again, and actually the color is
supposed to look like that, and we'll add three more
stripes on both sides. And to finish up, we're going to add one more item to the color. And we are done
with the sketching. So now we can move on
to the inking process. So for the inking process, I'm going to use ink pens. I'll use 0.1 for the torso and 0.05 for
the face and the hair. By 0.05, I mean the size
of the inking pen tip. Okay, so during the
inking process, what you want to do is rotate to the page so you can have
your natural hand movement. And once we are done
with the inking process, we can start the
coloring process. But first, I'm going to clean this entire environment
from all the lead. I'm going to use the notorious
charcoal eraser for that. And then I'm going to
use the eraser stick. Make sure to clean it very
well because you don't want to smear the lead later on
when we use the pi markers. Awesome now that it's clean, we can start using
the Copic markers.
3. How to color: So those markers are
alcohol based markers, which means they can
blend very well. If you'll check your
top left of the screen, you can see the exact number
of copic I'll be using. We are going to start
with the shirt. I'm going to use
three tones for that, a very bright one, a mid tone, and a darker tone. First, I'm going to start
with the brighter tone. As you can see, I'm flicking
the brush towards me. Next, I'm going to
use the mi tone, and this time I'm flicking
the brush outside. And next, I'm going to
use the dark stone. Awesome. Now, what I want to do
is blend the colors. So I'm going to
use the meton and I'll blend the darkest
stone with the meton. Next, I'm going to
use the brighter tone and use it to blend the mid
tone with the brighter tone. Awesome, and this is the
result we are going after. So I'm going to do the same
process for the mid area, and I didn't mention it, but as you can see,
the light source will come from the left side, meaning that the right side
will be obviously darker. Now, as you can see this time, I started from the
brighter tone, but then moved to
the darkest tone. So that goes to show you that it's not a
pure science, okay? You can basically mix it up
and see what works for you. Awesome. Now, if you
want a deeper shade, you can also use the
black colored pencil. And I'm going to use it
for the darkest areas. For example,
underneath the color right next to the
straps of the bag. And then if you want
to get more highlight, you can use the white pencil. So I'm going to use
it for the areas that sticks out more. For example, the
chest, the shoulder. And you can also use
another blue color pencil, apply to the mid
areas just to get some nice, interesting,
colorful look. Awesome. So I'm going to do the same
process for his left arm. And I want to give
you a quick tip. If you buy accident color outside of the
lines, don't worry. All you need to do is take
the colorless blender, and what you want to do is
soak the ink out of that area. Just like that. Awesome. So next we're going
to colour the straps, just like before I'm going to start with the brighter tone then we'll use
darker tone and feel free to add more layers in
order to get more saturation. Next, I'm going to blend the colors using the
brighter tone again. And I'm going to add
some more layers to get more contrast,
more saturation. Also, next, you are going
to use some gray tones. First I'm going to start with C one covering all the areas. Then I'm going to use C
that's slightly darker tone, and you are going to give it some thickness just
by coloring around. Next, I'm going to use C five, that's an even darker tone, and I'm going to blend the
colors with C one again. Awesome. So we are going to
do the same process for the right side, and then we'll continue
with the color. Okay, so now I'm going
to use the same gratons. We're going to cut out
those lines with C one and then apply
more shade with CF. And we'll blend it, of course, just
like we did before. Awesome. So once we
are done with that, we can focus on the skin tone. So for the skin tones, I'm going to use three
different tones as well. We'll start with
the brighter tone. So first, I'm going to
fill this entire area, but I'm going to leave some
white areas right next to the trichia because
that area will get more light because
it sticks out. Then I'm going to
use the me tone, coloring all the shaded
areas like right below the chin next
to the neck muscles, and then I'm going to
use an even darker tone. And of course, we are going
to blend them together to get a nice gradient look with the mene and then with
the brighter tone. Okay, so now we are going
to focus on the face. Again, I'm going to use
the brightest tone, and I'm going to leave
some brighter areas on the cheek on the bottom
lip and on the nose. Next, I'm going to
use the same tone, and I'm just going to add more layers in order
to create more shade. So I'm going to add
some shade right below the eyes on his upper lip, below the bottom lip, and, of course,
on the left side. Next, I'm going to
add the mid tone. We'll add some shade for a pair. And then we are going to blend the colors with a brighter
tone just like we did before. Awesome. I'm going to do the
same for the ear, and then I'm going to add another tone that's
the darkest tone, and we'll apply it for
the most shaded areas. And then we'll do some more
blending with the me tone. Awesome. So now we are going to color is burnt
area on the face. For that, I'm going to
use an orange brown tone, and I'm going to use the same
tone to apply some shade. Awesome. Now I'm going to take the colorless blender and I'm going to color these areas in order to get a
smooth transition. Okay, now that we
are done with that, we can focus on the eyes. So first, I'm going to add
some shade using C one. Then I'm going to use some
blues to color his left eye, and I'm going to use the
colorless blender to soak some of the ink in order to create some
nice highlight. We colour the pupil
with a black marker, and for his right eye, I'm going to use some gray tones and do the same
process I did before. Awesome. So now we can
focus on the hair. So I'm going to start
with the left side. I'm going to use some
gray purple tones. I'm going to start with
the brighter tone, and I'm gonna pull and
push the brush nib. As you can see, I'm coloring in the direction of the hair. Next, I'm going to use
a slightly darker tone. And just like
before I'm going to colour in the direction
of the shape. Then I'm going to blend the colors using the
brighter tone so we can get a nice harmony and then
some quick adjustments. And use the colourless splendor to get a smooth transition. We'll colour the eyebrow
in the same way. Awesome, and now we can
move to the reddish part. Again, I'm going to use
the brighter tone first. I'm going to colour with
the direction of the shape, and this time I'm
even going to rotate the page just so I can
have more comfort. I don't want to go against
my natural hand movement. As you can see, I just put one layer and I didn't want
to get a uniform look. That's why you see all
those white areas. Next, I'm going to use the mine, and we're going to add some shade and some
depth to the hair. The next step will be
blending, of course. Then I'm going to use
the darkest tone again, to create a nice contrast,
a nice gradient. And I'm going to use
the colorless blender in order to create
some more highlights. Awesome. Next, I'm
going to color the eyebrows again
with the same colors. And to finish up, what we're going to do
is take a white pen, and we're going to add some
highlights to his eyes. So just two lines on each iris. H. Everybody. So this is how you draw to the rocky Shoto from
my hero, Academia. Congratulations if
you made it this far. I hope you guys
and girls enjoyed this tutorial.
That's it for today. Thanks a lot for watching. Keep in awesome,
and I'll see you on the next video. Heys.
