1. Welcome to the Class: Whenever there are
birthdays around, I personally love to create
handmade birthday card. Somehow it feels really
amazing whenever there is a handmade element whenever
you're gifting someone. It might look
difficult to create, but I'm going to make it very
easy and simple for you. Hey, every buddy,
you're most welcome to my new class, myself, RuwikPl. I'm a self taught, independent artist and an interior
designer by profession. I personally love to explore different art forms and styles and not stick to
one particular thing. So if you are joining
me, you'll find a variety of classes
that I create. In this class, we are going
to create two beautiful, easy birthday cards based on a black theme using some
easy and simple craftwork. We are going to start
by understanding all the class projects that
we are going to create. There are going to be two
beautiful birthday cards having different elements in it. Before we start with the class, we are going to talk about all the art supplies in detail. I'll be giving you the details about the papers that
we are going to use. And in case you're missing out on any particular
art supply, you'll find it very easily in
any nearby local art store. The first step is to create
the base of the card, which we are going to
do using a black paper. Then to make it look a
little bit more aesthetic, we're going to add
this beautiful cut out of a white paper. Then the main part is to add a happy birthday tag
to the entire card. You're going to use some simple calligraphy to
write the message. Then simply I'll be using a double sided tape and create some depth in
the entire message. You're going to make the entire birthday tag look
a little bit more aesthetic by adding these colored papers
in the background. You're going to
complete the card by adding little elements
like dried flowers. There are going to be these little circular shaped balloons that we are going to
create using paper. And I'm very sure that you'll definitely enjoy
the entire process. By the end of the
class, you'll have two beautiful birthday cards based on a black color scheme. It is not at all
compulsory for you to create it in the
exact same way. You're free to explore and experiment and enjoy the
process of creating. The class is absolutely
suited for beginners and also intermediate and advanced
level artists can try it. So without any delay, grab your art supplies and join

2. Details About the Class Project: Hey, everybody. Now let us talk about the class projects
that we are going to create. No need to worry
about the output, enjoy the process of creating. I'll be giving you the details about the cards that we
are going to create, observe them one by one and
carefully follow these steps. So as you can observe,
I have placed both the birthday cards
on the desk surface. You can observe them carefully. They are having different
elements in it. Let me show you one by one. So here is the
first card in which we have a beautiful
black background. Then I have completed it with these beautiful white
paper cutouts that you'll find very easily in any
nearby local art store. Then I have added these
little golden color patches and the birthday tag, which is having a
nice three D effect if you observe it carefully. It's a very simple
and easy process to add a depth to the
entire birthday tag. Then I have added this
beautiful element, which is having
dried flowers in it and little hearts
using a white pen. So this is how we are going
to complete the first card, having these beautiful
little elements in it. Now let us talk about
the second card. So again, there is going to be a beautiful black background. We have added these nice
paper cutouts using white. And it creates a beautiful
contrast, as well. There is going to be the
beautiful golden color patches, which we are going to add
in any particular area. Then there is this birthday tag having a beautiful
three defect in it. Now, the major element
is the cluster of beautiful balloons
that I have created using a white paper and added these white lines combining together to form a
beautiful bunch. So this is how we are going
to complete the second card, having these minute
little elements. It might look difficult to create both the birthday cards, but trust me, it is a very
simple and easy process. You just have to follow
these steps one by one. You can use the cards to
gift your loved ones. In fact, you can also
change the purpose of the card by simply
changing the message. I hope that you
got an exact idea about the class projects
that we are going to create. These are two beautiful birthday cards that we
are going to create, and it is not at
all compulsory for you to create it in
the exact same way. You're free to explore and experiment with the
entire class project. Now let us move
towards the next part.
3. Art Supplies: Hey, everybody. Now
let us talk about all the art supplies that you will need for
the entire class. I'll be giving you the details about the art
supplies one by one. No need to worry about having
the exact same art supply. You can go for any other
good alternative as well. So as you can observe,
I have placed all my art supplies in
a systematic manner. Let us talk about
them one by one. So here is the first art supply, which is a simple plastic ruler. You can observe the dimensions
in 15 centimeters as well. So we're going to
use a simple ruler wherever required to
draw any reference line. Then the next art supply is a simple eraser that can be used to remove
the pencil lines. Then next up, I have
a simple scissor. That we are going to use to cut the paper wherever required. So a scissor is going
to be really helpful to cut the paper into
smaller pieces as well. Then I'm going to
use a simple pen, which is also a marker
basically from art line. Having a 0.8 tip, you can observe the tip as well. So we're going to use this
marker to write a message. Then I'm having this beautiful metallic marker,
which is golden. It is absolutely fine. You can use any other
good alternative as well. This is going to be
visible on a black paper. That's why I'm
going to use this. Then I'm having a
simple white pen from Sakura jelly roll. You can observe it is
having a nice thin tip. We are going to use this to create little
elements on the card. Then next up, I'm
having a simple pencil, which we are going to use a reference line
wherever required. Then the next art supply is a simple liquid
glue from favicol. You can use any
good alternative. You're going to
use this to paste the paper on one another
or wherever required. Then now let us talk about the
most important art supply, which is the papers that
we are going to use. So there are four basic
colors that I'm going to use. The first one is black.
Then we have white, dark green, and brown. So these are four
basic papers required for creating these
beautiful birthday cards. In case you want to use
any different color, it is absolutely fine. For the white paper, I
can give you the details. These are watercolor
papers from Canson, 300 GSM and a five size sheet. In case you have a
smaller version of this, it is absolutely fine. Then for the brown paper, I'm using Sahara craft papers, which is 170 GSM A
five size sheets. The remaining two colors, which is green and black, are regular papers
that you will find very easily from any
nearby local art store. These are craft
papers, basically. Then I'm going to use
a simple masking tape, which we are going
to use to combine the dried flowers and
convert it into a bouquet. Then we are going to use
a double sided tape, which is having this
beautiful thickness that will give our happy birthday
message a nice three D efect. In case you do not have
a double sided tape, you can simply use some glue. Then let us talk about
this beautiful art supply, which is a beautiful
cutout of white paper. You'll find it very easily in
any nearby local art store. And in case you do not have
this beautiful cutout, you can still take up the
class project without this. Now let us talk about this
beautiful punching machine that we use to punch
in the paper and get this beautiful
little circle cutouts. Then the last element
that you will need is this dried flowers
that we are going to use to convert it into
a little bouquet, which we are going to use
it as an element in a card. Certain elements like dried
flowers that you can observe in this particular card and
the white paper cutout, you might not be having
it with yourself. So you'll find it very easily in any nearby local art store. Combining these little elements and using all the art
supplies together, we are going to form these
two beautiful birthday cards. I hope that you got
an exact idea about all the art supplies
that we are going to use to create these
beautiful birthday cards. Now let us move
towards the next part.
4. Birthday Card - 1: Hey, everyone. Now let us start with the first birthday card. So as you can observe, I have placed a simple black paper. It's a simple craft paper only. So you'll find it very easily in any nearby local art store. The size is a five, and we are going to convert
it into two equal parts. So just place one side
of the two corners on another side and just
place your finger and thumb and create
a simple crease. You can use the way
I'm using my fingers. So I have simply
matched one side of the corners with another
side of the corners. And in the center portion, we have created
this simple crease. You can observe there
is this line of separation which divides the
paper into two equal parts. So these two equal parts are going to be the
base of the car. Now if you observe there
is a line visible, we are going to cut it
using a pair of scissors. Simply hold the paper, and now you have to
follow the line. No need to worry at all, do this particular step in a
slow and steady manner. Also, be a little bit careful whenever you're
using a scissors. Make sure that you follow
the line carefully and get a nice straight line so that
we get two equal rectangles. So now I have separated
both the parts and you can observe we have got
two rectangular shapes. These are the base of the two cards that we
are going to create. Now I'll just keep one
of the part aside, and we are going to
use the first one to create our first card. Now the next step is to
add this beautiful cutout of white paper in different manner on
the base of the card. Let me show you the
cut out carefully. There are these beautiful
patterns on the outline. You'll find this paper very easily in any nearby
local art store. Now we are going to put a semicircular shape on the
right hand side of the card. So I'll use a pair
of scissors and cut this particular circular
shape into two equal parts. So now you can observe
approximately, I have removed a
semicircular shape, and we're going to place it on the right hand side of
the card in between. I'll just align the line
with the line of the card. This is how we are
going to place one part of the white paper. Now I'll just get
a nice quarter of the semicircular part
which was remaining. Cut it again into
two equal parts, and we get this beautiful one fourth part of
the circular shape, and we are going to
place it on the corner. So I'm placing it on
the top left corner, and this is how we are going
to compose both the shapes. I'll be using a little bit of liquid glue on the back
side of the paper cut out. Just take a little bit
of glue and apply it well because it is having
a lot of cuts in it. You just have to apply the
glue in a nice manner. No need to hurry at all, apply it in the pattern area as well. Now, once we are done
applying the glue, we are going to place
it on the black paper. No need to hurry at all, align the straight line with the rectangular straight
line on the right hand side, and simply apply some
pressure using your thumb. You can observe the paper
is completely placed. Now, let it dry for a while. Let us place the corner as well. So again, I'll apply
a little bit of glue. No need to hurry at all. Make sure that you apply
some good amount of glue so that it gets stuck with the
black paper in a nice way. Now, similarly,
once you are done, applying the glue on one side
of the one fourth cutout, simply flip it over and
place it on the corner. Again, no need to hurry at all, take your time, apply some
pressure using your thumbs. So now you can observe
that we are done placing the white design paper. Now let us create the
happy birthday tag. So I'll take a little bit
of white paper piece, and we are going to need a
simple rectangular shape. You can take it approximately. No need to worry about
the measurements. I'm just taking a simple
random rectangular piece of paper that you can
observe right over here. If you want an approximate size, it is 8 centimeters
by 1 centimeter. Now, we are going to write
happy birthday on this. So I'll use a simple ruler, create a reference
line using a pencil. It's a very simple
and easy process. Create a light line in between. Now, this pencil
line will help us to write the happy birthday
message in a straight manner. I'll be using my
marker from art line. You can observe it is
having a nice thin tip. You're going to
write happy birthday using this particular marker. Now, there is no specific way
of writing happy birthday. You can write it according
to your convenience. Make sure that you write considering the reference
line that we have created using a pencil so that your letters will be completely aligned and it will
look straight. So I'm writing happy first. Now, once we are
done writing happy, leave a little bit
of space in between, and then we are going
to write birthday. No need to hurry at all, take your time and write in a
slow and steady manner. It is not at all compulsory for you to write in the
exact same way. You can write it in
your own handwriting. In fact, if you want to
experiment with the color, you can use a different color
apart from black as well. So I've written
birthday as well. Now in order to enhance
the letters a little bit, there is a little bit
of space between THD Y. You can fill it with
solid black color and complete the letters. Now, once we are done
writing happy birthday, we are going to enhance
the entire birthday tag by adding a little bit
of more colored paper. Before that, we are
going to create a nice three D effect, as well. Before that, let me enhance
the letter H and B as well. Now, once we are done
writing the entire text, you'll need a simple
double sided tape that we are going to place on the
backside of this birthday tag. Let me remove the extra part. So I've just removed a little bit of piece
from the birthday tag. Now, if you find that your
text is completely fine, you can use a simple
eraser to remove the reference line which we
have created using a pencil. No need to hurry at all, take your time and simply
remove the pencil line. Now I'm going to use your
simple double sided tape. Let me show you it is going to have a beautiful
thickness in it, which will give our message
a nice three day effect. So I'm going to take a little
piece of double sided tape, place it on your desk surface. Similarly, take another piece. Now we are going to put both the pieces on the back side of the
happy birthday tag. Now you have already observed a nice thickness of
the double sided tape. In case you do not have
a double sided tape, you can directly use glue and paste it on
the second paper. So I'm going to
place one piece on right hand side and another
piece on the left hand side. There is a little bit
of space in between, but it is absolutely fine. Now, once we have attached the double sided tape
to the birthday tag, simply remove the back sticker. So now you have stickiness
on the back side as well. Now I'm going to take a little
piece of dark green paper, which is a little bit bigger
than the happy birthday tag. We're going to place it leaving some space from the top and bottom
portion and side as well. And we get a beautiful
dark green outline around the entire
happy birthday tag. There is a little
bit of extra portion that you can remove
using your scissors. Now you can observe that we have used a double sided tape. That's why the happy
birthday message is going to have a little
bit of three D effect, which might not be
that clearly visible, but it is going to look really beautiful when we use
a double sided tape. Now there is going to
be another outline that we are going to create
using a brown paper. So I've taken a little bit
of piece of brown paper. Take your happy birthday tag and apply some glue on
the back portion. No need to hurry at all,
apply the glue in a nice way. Now, once you have
applied the glue, spread it nicely, make sure that you apply it
on the corners. Now, simply, we are going to put the birthday tag on
the brown paper, leaving some space on the top, bottom, and side portion. So like dark green paper, we are going to get a beautiful
brown border as well. Now, once the glue is applied
on the backside portion, apply a little bit
of pressure using your fingers so that the message gets stuck
with the paper completely. You can also let it
dry for a while, but I'm not having patience. That's why I'm just cutting it. So I'm leaving a little
bit of space and creating this beautiful outline
using brown paper. You can observe the
way I have created two beautiful outlines
apart from white paper. There is this dark
green color and brown. I don't know whether
you are able to see a beautiful three D effect
using a masking tape, double sided tape
basically or not, but it looks really
nice when you add a little bit of double sided
tape into the message. Now, we are going to place it on the birthday card base
that we have created. So I'm going to
decide that this is the position where we
are going to place it. You can place it according
to your convenience. It is absolutely fine. So now just take
the birthday tag, flip it over, and we are going to apply some glue
on the back inside. No need to hurry at all,
apply the glue in a nice way. Now, once you have
applied some glue, make sure that you apply the
glue on the corners as well. I'll just bring
in the card base, and we are going to
place the message. No need to hurry at
all, take your time and decide the position
in a correct manner, leave space from
the right hand side and left hand side equally, and apply some pressure
using your fingers. So this is how we have placed the entire happy birthday
message on the card base. Now, apart from this,
there are going to be certain other elements
that we are going to add to the entire
card to make it look a little bit more
aesthetic and attractive. So there is going to be this beautiful golden marker
that I'm going to use. In case you do not
have a golden marker, you can use a white
marker as well, and we're going to
create a little color palette on
the bottom portion. So it's a very simple
and easy step. You just have to create these
little circular shapes. And you can also observe a beautiful contrast between gold and black color together. I'm going to add six dots using this particular
golden color. In case you want to
add more or less dots, it is absolutely fine. So it basically is
a little element that creates some aesthetics
to the entire car. Now we are going to
add some dried flowers on the top portion of
the happy birthday tag. So I'll just apply a
little bit of glue on the above portion of
the happy birthday tag. No need to hurry at all, apply
some good amount of glue. So it's a simple little portion where we are going to apply
these little dried flowers. You can observe that
the flowers are white, and it is a little
bouquet kind of element that I've created using these
little flowers together. Now apply some pressure using
a tweezer or your fingers. And you'll find
these dried flowers very easily in any
nearby local art store. Now, let it dry for a while, and I'm going to use a simple white pen to create some little hearts
around the bouquet. You just have to create
these little heart shape. You can draw the heart shapes. According to your convenience. I'm just creating
three little hearts. You can also observe
a beautiful contrast between the white and solid black color
in the background. So now we are almost done
with the entire card. There is going to be
this last element, which is going to be the golden color patches on the
top right corner. So I'm just using my
golden marker and creating these little
circular shapes very similar to the ones that we did just below the
happy birth ray tag. So these are three basic dots. So we are done with
the entire card. Let me take you a
little bit closer so that you can observe all
the details carefully. Using these little elements
together and combining them, we have formed this beautiful
black theme birth ray card that you can use very
easily to gift anybody. You're free to explore and experiment with the entire card. I hope that you enjoyed the entire process of creating
this particular card. Now let us move
towards the next card.
5. Birthday Card - 2: Hey, everybody. You're most welcome to the second
birthday card. As you can observe, I'm
ready with my second base, and we are going to apply
this beautiful white cut out of paper on two
different corners. So I'll be using a
simple pair of scissors, and initially we'll just
remove a semicircular shape. Now, once we get a simple
semicircular shape, we are going to convert it
into two equal parts again. So now we have got
two more equal parts, and we are going to place it on the corners of this
particular card base. In order to stick the paper, we are going to apply some
glue on the backside. No need to hurry at all,
apply some good amount of glue so that the paper will
get stuck with the base. I'm just spreading the
glue and we are going to apply the entire pattern
paper on one corner. So I'm going to place it on
the left corner right now, align it with the lines, and simply apply some pressure using your thumb or fingers. Similarly, we have
the second cutout and we are going to place it on
the bottom right corner. So again, I'll be applying some glue and spread it nicely. In fact, you have to apply it in this cutout pattern
area as well. Now we'll just simply place it on the
bottom right corner, align it with the lines
of the card base and simply apply some pressure
using your thumb and fingers. So as you can observe,
we have completed the entire card base with this beautiful
decorative white paper. Now let us move
towards the next part, which is creating
the birthday tag. I've taken a simple piece
of rectangular paper, which is completely white. The size is approximately
8 centimeters by one centimeters. Draw a simple pencil
line in between, which is acting as
a reference line. This reference line basically helps us to write the message
in a straight manner, and it will look
completely aligned with the entire
horizontal lines. So I'll start writing it
using my marker from line. It is having a 0.0 tip, and it is completely black. You can use any
good alternative. It is absolutely fine.
This is water resistant. So I'm starting with happy.
No need to hurry at all. You can write it in
your own handwriting. It is absolutely fine. Now, once you are
done writing happy, leave a little bit of space in between and start
writing birthday. You can observe the
way I'm leaving even space in between
the letters, as well. So I'm done writing
birthday as well. I'll just put a
simple dot above I, and then we are going
to enhance the letters by filling the gap between THDY. You can enhance H and
Y and happy as well. So we are done writing
happy birthday. Now I'll be using a
simple eraser to remove the reference line which we
have created using a pencil. No need to hurry at all, take your time and simply
remove the pencil line. This will make the entire
letters look even more better. So we are almost done
removing the pencil line. Now, we are going to enhance
the entire birthday tag by adding a little bit of dark green colour
in the background, and there is going to be
a brown paper as well. This entire effect will give a nice three D effect to
the entire birthday tag. So the process is very easy. We are going to use
a double sided tape. You can observe a
beautiful thickness of the double sided tape. I'm going to take
one simple piece of the double sided tape
and put it aside. Similarly, take one more piece. You can cut the piece
using a pair of scissors. Now we have got two little
pieces of double sided tape, and we are going to apply it on the back portion of this birthday tag
that we have created. No need to hurry at all, place one of the tag on right side, another one on left side. Now, once you have placed
the double sided tape, simply remove the back sticker so that there is stickiness
on the back side. Now we have a beautiful
sticky surface and a little bit of thickness. We're going to place it
on dark green paper. So I'll take a little piece
of dark green paper aside, and we are going to place the
white birthday tag on it. Leave a little bit of space
on the top portion and side, and you'll observe a
beautiful dark green border around on the topmost
portion and left side. Now using a simple
pair of scissors, we are going to
create even space on the bottom side and the
right hand side as well. So simply cut the
remaining part. No need to hurry at
all. Take your time, try to cut in a parallel manner. And similarly, I'll be removing the additional portion on
the right hand side as well. Now we have got a beautiful border of dark green color in
an equal manner, and there is a
beautiful three defect. I don't know whether
it is visible or not, but it looks really amazing. Now using the same steps, we are going to give a
beautiful brown border as well. This time we are not going to
apply a double sided tape. We are simply going
to apply some glue. So just simply flip
your birthday tag, and on the back portion, apply some good amount of glue. No need to hurry at
all, make sure that the glue is applied
in a nice manner. Spread it well. And we are going to just place
the birthday tag, again, leaving some space on the topmost portion
and left handside. Apply some pressure
using your fingers. Let it dry for a while, but as usual, I'm not having
any patience in myself. So I'll just take
the entire piece of paper and start cutting it. Try to have even space
on all the sides. Make sure that you make a
cut in a parallel manner, and we are ready with
the entire birthday tag. You can observe we are having
these beautiful colors, having a beautiful outline. First one is dark green, second one is brown, and the main sheet of
paper was white. So this is how we make
the entire birthday tag look a little bit more in
three D aesthetic manner. You can place it according
to your convenience wherever you want to
on the card base. So now, in order to
place the birthday tag, we are going to apply some
glue on the backside. So I'll just flip the
entire birthday tag, apply some good amount of
glue on the entire surface. No need to hurry at
all and make sure that you apply the glue
on the corners. Now, we are going to place the birthday tag
on the card base. I'm placing it a little
bit in the down portion, and a certain portion of
the birthday tag is also going on the paper cutout that we have pasted
it on the corner. Apply a little bit of
pressure using your fingers and let the entire birthday
tag dry for a while. So we are done with
another element, which is the birthday tag. Now let us move towards a beautiful element that
we are going to create. So I'm having a little piece of white paper and my
punching machine. A punching machine
is basically used to create holes in a paper so that you can attach
it to any file. Now, we are going to just create these little holes
on a white paper, basically, and you can observe the cutouts in circular format. Now, once you remove
the back container, you get this beautiful
little circular shape. I'll just take it
on my desk surface, and you can observe
these little cutouts, which is in circular form. Now, similarly, I'll
make few more cuts. No need to hurry at
all, take your time and create these little
circular shapes. It will take a lot of time
to cut it using a scissor. That's why I have used
a punching machine. In case you want
bigger balloons, you can definitely cut it using
a scissor also by drawing a circular shape on
a white paper using pencil and then cutting
it using a scissors. Now, these are little white circular shapes
that we have got, and we are going to form
a beautiful cluster of clouds on the black surface. So before we apply
the circular shapes onto the black paper, we are going to apply some glue. So I'll take my liquid glue
and apply these little dots. And since the glue is white, you'll be able to see the
composition that you create. So you just have to apply these little dots in
a cluster format. You can apply it
wherever you want to, but make sure that the dots
are very near to each other. So I've applied few dots. Let me apply a few on
the bottom part as well, creating a nice cluster
of clouds together. So we have applied
the glue right now. Now we are going to place
the small circular shape on this particular glue. So I'll be using
a simple tweezer. In case you do not
have a tweezer, you can use your
fingers as well. This is a little bit
more convenient. That's why I'm using a tweezer. So I'm simply putting these little paper
cutouts on the glue. No need to hurry at
all, take your time and just simply apply
the circular shapes. In case you want a bigger
cluster of clouds, you can take more cutouts
of circular shape. And in case you want to do a little bit of more creativity,
explore and experiment. What you can do is
you can experiment with the size of the
balloon as well. You can cut a different
shape for the balloon, and you are free to
explore in any way. So I'm done with almost
all the circular shapes. Let me paste the last one. And you can observe we have got a beautiful composition of these little balloons together. Now, in order to make it look a little bit more
like a balloon, we are going to add
few more details. So I'll be using a
simple white pen, and we are going to just
draw a little bit of rubber portion which is
visible when we tie a balloon. So you just have to create a little rectangular shape on the bottom portion
of all the balloons. No need to hurry at all, take your time and try to create
these little shapes. I'm using a white pen
because it will create a nice contrast on
a black background. Now, once we have added these
little rectangular shapes, what we are going to
do is we are going to create lines which are going to connect on a bottom portion of the entire cluster. You have to take one
single line which is connecting at a single
point on the bottom part. So these are basically
the threads, and it makes a nice visual as if someone is holding the
entire cluster of balloons. So slowly, I'm connecting
all the balloons together at one single
point on the bottom part. So you can observe how beautiful the entire part is looking. Now, similarly, the
remaining portion of the threads have to be
drawn on the bottom part. So just create these little vertical lines
in the bottom part. And they are tied with
a simple thread so you can create this little
curved shape as well. We are done creating this beautiful element
of balloons together, and it looks really amazing
with the entire composition. Now comes another
part, which is adding a beautiful golden
color palette so I'll be using my metallic
sketch pen again, and we are going to
create these little dots just below the
happy birthday tag. So these are combination
of five dots together. You can do it according
to your convenience. Similarly, I'll be
adding a little bit of color palette on
the topmost portion. So I'm just adding
three right now, but I feel like I have
to add few more dots. So let us add few more
so I'm making them five, as well, and these
are a little bit bigger than the first one, which are on the bottom portion of the happy birthday tag. So we have created five circular shapes on
the top right corner. You're free to explore
and experiment. You can do this particular thing according to your
convenience, as well. It is absolutely fine. In case you do not
have a golden marker, you can go for a white one. So we are done with
the entire card. Let me take you a
little bit closer so that you can observe all
the details carefully. This was the second and last card for this
particular class. I hope that you enjoyed the entire process and got to learn something
