1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Amaya and I'm an artist and video creator. In this procreate animation class, you will learn how to add a glowing effect to your artwork. This is a great class for beginners that have no experience with animating as Procreate's animation tools make it a super simple and fund process. I will walk you through setting up your artwork. The basics of animating in Procreate. The steps and settings to add a fund glowing effect to any artwork. All you need is an iPad and the Procreate app to get started. 2. First Layer: Adding Stars: The first step is Adding Stars or whatever object you want to have the glowing effect bring your artwork into a new canvas. And the size that I'm using is 6,000 by 6,000 pixels. You can see I have the artwork on one layer. And for the background layer, make sure you use a dark color so that The Glow will show up. We will add a new layer. And this is going to be for these Stars. The brush that I'm using is the Retro Supply pencil brush. But of course you can use whatever brush you would like. I'm adjusting the size of the brush to about 10%. And I'm going to be filling up the empty spaces around my artwork with some star shapes. And now I'm just adding in some dots for smaller stars. Now that we have this Layer done, we will start on the Animation 3. Animating: Adding The Glow: First, we're going to tap on the star layer that we just created and make sure that it's selected. And then swipe on the artwork layer, which should be directly under it to group them together. Now tap on this group and you can just collapse those layers to keep things a little bit more organized. Click on the wrench icon, go to Canvas and turn on animation assist. A timeline will appear at the bottom of the screen and you will see a frame with your artwork. Go ahead and click on it and set that as the background. Now this will stay in the same place throughout the entire Animation. I click on Add a frame, and this is where we will begin with the glowing effects. The brush that I'm using is in the airbrushing category. It's a Procreate brush and it is the soft blend. Make sure to select a light color for the Glow. I'm using this pale yellow that kinda matches the color palette of my artwork. I'm adjusting the size of the brush to about 10%. And now just begin by tapping on the Stars to add a slight Glow. For the first frame, you want to keep The Glow the same size as the Stars. And you don't want it to be too bright, so don't add too much. And also tries keep the amount consistent throughout all the Stars. And also adjust the size of the brush depending on the size of each star. Now that the first frame is complete, click on that frame and duplicate it. Now, make the brush slightly bigger and repeats going over the same Stars to increase The Glow just slightly. Once the second frame is complete, you can go back and forth between frames to see how it's looking and see which areas you need to go back and adjust. Here I'm looking for any Stars that need just a little bit more Glow. And then you can also see if there are any that you missed. So now, duplicate this frame, increase the brush size, and repeat the process again. If you see an area that ended up a little bit too bright, you can click on the eraser tool and just use that same brush that you were using to add The Glow to remove some of it? Anterior. I'm just checking again to see what they look like. Duplicate the frame again and repeat the process. I ended up with five firms in total. But just continue to do this until you are happy with the amount of Glow. Once you have all your friends play the animation and change the setting to ping pong. This way the animation will play and then reverse, which enhances the glowing effect. And adjust the frames per second to around five or six, depending on how fast you want The Glow. I decided I wanted The Glow to end a little bit brighter, so I added one more frame. To export it. Click on the wrench tool, click share and choose either Animated GIF or Animated MP4 depending on where you are sharing this artwork. And there you have it. Here is my final glowing animation. And now you are ready to create your own 4. Project & Thank You: For the project, you will create your own glowing effect in Procreate using the steps from class. You can either create artwork specifically for this project or use any of your existing artwork. Create your glowing animation and when it's complete, share it in the project section of the class. Here are a few examples of some other artwork that I've added a glowing effect to. If you have any questions at all, be sure to ask me in the discussions page and Thank you so much for taking this class.
