1. Introduction: If animals could think, feel, and express
themselves like humans. In this course, you learn how to design animal characters
with human personality, emotion, and attitude in clear, simple, and professional way. This is not about complicated
tools or digital shortcuts. Everything in this
course is built on strong fundamentals
and one powerful idea. Great character design
starts with simple lines. Using only a mechanical pencil, an tied eraser and paper, you'll learn how to
turn basic shapes into expressive animal
characters that feel alive. Step by step, you'll
understand how to give animals human like posture
and body language, how to design faces that show
emotion and personality, how to keep your designs
simple, clean, and repeatable. And how to build characters
correctly, not randomly. Throughout the course,
we fully design and study characters
such as a mouse, a deer, a sheep, a bat, a flamingo, and a turtle. Each with a unique personality
and visual identity. But more importantly, this course teaches
you the principles, not just the examples. By the end, you won't
just copy characters. You'll be able to create your own animal characters from scratch with confidence
and creativity. If you want to master animal character
design in a simple, logical and professional way, this course is your
starting point.
2. Mouse Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my dear friends, and welcome to another one
of our tutorial courses. Well, in this course, we are going to learn how we can create characters of humanistic
characters of animals, and we want to see
how we can do this. So we have already told you how we can create animals
on their own shape, their specific and
natural shape, but you can acquire that course and learn it
if you haven't already. But we want to see what should we do if we
want to do it in a human way and we want to just mix the shape up a little. Obviously, first of all, I should determine
a direction line, a general direction line
for my mouse character. These are animals
with human features. You can say that or vice versa. And now I'll start my work with creating the
head of my character. Now, because our character is kind of a human and
it has a human form. We would start from the
head of our character. This is the general shape
for our character's head, and this would be the
placement of our head. Then we will determine the placement of our
character's body. Here, I would want
to have the body. I would come down a little
further from the head, and then I'll start the body. As I said before, we are just starting with general shapes now and
then later step by step, we will add the details
to each part of it. All right. Now, I also create the pelvis
part for my character. It's almost a circle,
just like that. And then as you can see, so generally, I'm getting the volume and the
shape of the body. If I attach these
two parts together, it kind of looks like a pair. Okay. Now, I also want to work on
the placement of the legs. I can just continue down these lines that have connected the two
body parts for me. And we can create the legs of our character
as long as we want. Because our character
is an animal, we can actually change the
measurements of the body parts as long as we wanted
to as much as we want. So we would have more
comic character, and it would be fun, maybe
sometimes goofy or something. That depends on us. Okay. I'd also determine
the placement of the feet. Again, just a general
shape now and later, we would add the details. Okay. Now it's time for the arms. Obviously, the arms would come out of this upper
part of the body. And then if we want our character's arm to
be downward or upward, we would go up or down. So from the elbow,
it's our choice. I want the hand and the arm
to go upward from the elbow. Maybe it's waving or something. I think just it's a
little bit cooler. Okay. Then I complete
my mouse's hand. Now, the shapes are
really general, and then later, we'll
add the details. Don't forget about that. It
would be hard if you want to create these shapes and the details at the same
time in the same step. You might even get confused
and it would be ruined. Now for this arm, I
want to come down, and I want to actually place the hand on my character's
pelvis right here. We determine the
specific placement of it and then we'll create general
shape of the hand here. Now that the body parts
are created and specified. We want to work on
our character's tail. The tail would be
starting from here, but since it's behind the body, we cannot see that part. We're almost having our
character in a three faces view. So we should assert
the tail from a lower area, bringing it out, and then we can just have
it curved and twisted and shaped as we are
satisfied with it. We just create two lines
next to each other to create our mouse's tail as long
as we want, as well. One of the big features of the mouse or all
mice are the ears. So I'm going to place the ears on the top of
the head of my mouse. We also want to show that our ear has an inner
part inner area, so I'll create the
second line in order to show the thickness
of the ear and the volume. So I would say it has
a depth inside of it. So I'll do the same thing
for this other ear. And first, I'll start
with one line going up and then return, and we come back down again. It's a very cute mouse. Okay. Now, we also show the inner part of the ear
on this side as well. Okay. Now, this is the general
shape of our character's ear.
3. Mouse Face Parts Design: You know, we will
start working on creating our faces,
features and compartments. And then after that, we can move on to the details little by little, step by step. So first, if you want to determine
the direction of our face, we can put the eyes toward
the right or left or down. It's like it's looking in
any direction that you want. I want my character to look
at its right, our left. So here we go. Based on that direction, I start working on my mouse's eye and
obviously the second eye. Now, because our face
is turned a little, we see one eye bigger
than the other. This one would be a little smaller since it's
gone into perspective. I would also determine the
inner part of the eye. We can create the eyes as the shape of a
circle or an oval that depends on you and your own specific
character that you like. Okay. So it depends on your own. I also determine
the placement of the eyebrows above the eyes. And still, I'm not
working too much on the details that should be
done in the next steps. This is just a primary step
to have the primary sketch. Okay. Because we are creating
our mouse a little bit humanoid or humanized, we try to keep the general
shape of the mouse's face, but we would add some
humanistic features to it. So this would be the
nose of the mouse and also the placement of the nose and mouth
with the teeth here. So again, it's the
general shape. So now that we're done with it, we've got our primary sketch. First, we've got to erase all the extra lines and all these guidelines that
we've created earlier. Then after that, you
can add the details. You see, this way, you
won't be confused. So make sure in this step after finishing
the primary sketch, you erase all these
extra lines and guidelines with your eraser. Make sure to go
through all of them. I also erase these parts. All of these guidelines
should be removed before we work on the
details of our males. This way you have full control. No. Because we also want to create some clothes
for our character, we would definitely
raise the lines which attach the arms to the body. So make sure you
get all of them. Okay. Now it be starting from the top. It means from the ears. These are the top
things on our mouth. Okay. We're not keeping the ears as simple as they were
in the beginning. We're adding some curves and
prominent parts to them, some ups and downs in order
to add more volume as well. There we go. Now, for the inner
part of our ear, we can have a much thinner line toward the inside of the
ear that shows the depth. Okay. Then I would also
get the shape of the face out of its very simple shape that
we had in the beginning, like bringing the cheeks
out a little like a mouse. And then I attach the chin
all the way down to the neck. I'll do the same thing
on this side as well, which is closer to us as well. So I just consider
a shape for it like that and I move it
all the way up. Okay. No, I would do the
same thing for this other ear giving it some dimensions with some
shapes that I've got here, it wouldn't be so
simple anymore. I'll do the same thing
for this inner part. And then with kind
of a thinner line, I would create the inner
volume of the ear, bringing this line toward
inside of the ear. Okay. This is the volume and the
shape of a mouse's head. All right. Now I want to work
on the details of the face. And then I'd be
starting with the eyes. So basically, I'm just adding some more details
to my mouse's eyes. If you like, you
can even add some, you know, sparkle or reflection in our mouse's
eyes if you like. And then even if I want more, I can create eyeliners
for my mouse. At the same time, I'm
actually hyping up a little and I'm creating a
female mouse at the same time. So I'm completing
the whole design and giving it more characteristic
and maybe even the gender. Okay. I'm going to do the same
thing for this other eye. See, she needs to have
eyeline nerve on both eyes. Make sure that whatever you do, especially in the
detailing phase would be symmetrical for both sides unless
you want to keep it asymmetrical on purpose
and for specific reasons. Okay. Still keep the light
inside of the eye as well. And then we can also
work on the eyebrows, maybe even we can add
to the details a bit. And because our face has turned, we can also consider a shade
like this for the nose area. Okay. I kind of want to work a
little bit on the nose, a little bit more on the nose, better say, because
I kind of want to emphasize on the mouse
feature of my character. So I'll just drag the
nose out a little. I stretch it a little. And then from behind the nose, I'll continue my line like this. And then I would complete my mouse's mouth
with cute teeth. Okay. Now, in this part, after completing the
teeth of my mouse, I can create several lines
as my mouse's whiskers. So again, I would have some emphasize on the mouse
features of the character. Here we go. Okay. Now that we have added
some details in our face, we would basically erase all
the rest of extra lines in the face area just like that. So after adding the last touch of the details in the face, you can again go back
and see if you've got any extra lines and erase them. You can do this in each step of your work that in each step, if you feel that your
details are done, you can go back
and see if you've got any extra lines to erase. So this is just normal and
even it's good if you try to do it for each step. All right.
4. Mouse Character Body Design: It now we want to work on
our character's chin line. And obviously, after that, we would work on our
character's color. And after that, we can consider any shape that we
like for its clothes. I just want her to
wear a t shirt. So just like that, I determine
the volume of her kluts. You know, obviously, I should work on the hand
which is further from us, making it even a little smaller
on the arm part, sorry. And then we work on
the rest of the clubs. So If we want, we can even have a pattern for our clothes here, and if not, we can have a shirt or any other clothes
plain and simple. So if you want that, this is the time to do it. Okay. Then I also just
complete the arms of my mouse. And then I work on the
hands specifically, like even determining the shape of the fingers. See. After being done with the arms, it's time for the hands and, of course, the
details of the hand. Okay. Then I'll do the same thing. For the other hand, I determine the shape of the
fingers and working on them. Then after that, I also create
a line inside of the palm, so I would emphasize on
the volume of the hand, which is facing upwards. Now, I attach a hand to the
arm just like that very easy. And I'll complete the
form and the shape. Okay. Now it's time to work
on the lower body parts. So basically the
pelvis and the pants. Let's get to them
and complete them. Here we go. I just create a pants
very easy, very easy. You just have to go with it and take it easy
but with cautious. Again, I say, because our character is in
a three faces view, I'm creating that very short
line in between the legs. So I would show that
our character is turned to that side
a little bit more. I mean, here to the
right side of our hand. Okay. I also complete the tail, and then after that, I can
work on my mouse's legs. And basically, it's foot. So because the volume
and the shape of our character's feet is so obvious and it's actually
screaming that it's a mouse. We can use its own feet and creating several
lines to show the fingers and just skip
creating shoes for it, or you can create shoes, no limits here, no
prohibitions, better say. Just do as you like. But as I said, there's no
necessity to create shoes. Well, I work on the other leg as well and
on the other foot as well, doing the same thing, separating
the fingers, a little And then I complete the feet with the
volume of the fingers. Then after that,
with this last line, I just divide the
foot into two parts, fingers and above them. Well, I can do the same
thing for the hands. I mean, separating
the finger parts from the rest of the hand
with one simple line. Okay. Now I'm just going to erase all the extra lines
here wherever I've got them. These are the last touches. So the volume of our work would be shown
better this way as well. Afterwards, you can even color them in any color that you like. But basically, you've got to get the general
shapes correctly, adding some future sorry, adding some human features
and some mouse features. Then add the details
step by step and erasing extra parts step
by step at the same time. So this is our mouse character that we can have it with this much of details or we can even increase the amount of
details in our character. So that totally and totally depends on your own
personal taste. Here we go. Just adding some touch ups here. The main framework of
our character is done. We can just even add a bit
of shades, for example, below the nose right over here to show an emphasise on the volumes, just a bit more. Okay. Here we go. Y
5. Bat Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my
dearest friends, and welcome to another one
of our tutorial sessions. And in this session, again, we are going to create an
animal with human features, but this time, we're going
to turn a bat to a human. That would be our
fision this time. So let's see how we can
actually work on it. Alright, so simply, we'll be starting with our
direction line. And then, not so long after that we'll determine the
placement of the head. We'd be creating the
volumes very generally and simply so that later on, we can add the main
and final shape to them and details to them. So as I said, I'm
just considering a very general shape for
my character's body now. It's a bit, so probably doesn't
have a big or long body. Now I can move on and add
some other features to it. For example, the ears, one of the most prominent
features of bats. I have these pointy ears. I'm just trying to get
the shape right for now. Later when we add the details, it would just all come together. I would also need another
ear for this side. Here we go. Okay. Now, these are the
general shape of my ears, and now I'll complete the
placement of the head. And then after that, as a sequence, I'd be
completing the ears more. So don't worry about them now. Okay. I use the shape
that I like for my face, but you can change it. You can use different shapes, and you can even try them. Try so many different shapes for their furs until you get
the one that you like. Because, you know,
generally here we are basically transforming an
animal into a human character. So there are no boundaries
or limits anymore. You can choose whatever you
like for your character, test them and see if it works. All right. Now, I'd also like to determine the placement of the face part, so I'd know where
the eyes would go, where the mouth would
be placed, and so on. But before I add any of
the face components, I would complete the
ears, working on them. All right. Here we go. I've got it. Just think that. And then I also create another
line so I can show that my ear has a depth and
it has an inside part. Then I'll get on
with this other ear. And I'll complete it the same way. Here we go. And then I would have another line for the
inner part of this ear. Just like that. Okay. I would definitely erase
all the extra lines later, so don't worry about them, and we would have details
added to our character. So even right now, I'm just going to erase some of the extra lines
specifically near the head. Therefore, my work can
show itself a bit more. I'd also be erasing my
primary direction line. This way, as I said, the work would be showing itself better. Well, basically, the first and primary direction
line and action line is for getting the proportions of the body and the
head correctly. That's mostly the basis
and main use of that line. But for adding the body parts, we've got the rest of the
guidelines to help us. Okay. Now I can continue
and complete my body. All right. Obviously, we need two
wings for our bet. And because our character
has human features, we can actually place
these wings instead of the arms and the
hands just like that. We will determine the volume of the wings Then for the slower shape, we would create some curved
lines, some arc lines. And for this upper part, we can create a very thin line, and there would be two lines
in order to show a part of its very tiny and thin bone. We're also considering that our character is in
a three phases view. Therefore, we'll be creating everything based on that fact. There you go. Then
for the bottom part, I add the curved lines just like that. Then for the upper part, again, I'm going
to use two lines. Here we are. Now, for completing
our character's body, we just have to determine
the placement of the legs like this. And again, we do them
with general shapes. It's very easy. You just have to get it right. Okay. Now I'm going to dive
into the next step.
6. Bat Character Head Design: So basically, I'd be placing
the face parts in the head. As usual, I would start with the eyes or better say the
placement of the eyes. We just create general
shapes for our eye, and then we will later
add more details to them. I would also work on the eyebrows based on the
placement of our eye. Just with two lines, I bring them down
to below the eyes. I'll do the same exact
thing for the next eye. But because this eye
is in perspective, we should notice that
it would be seen less and it would be
in a specific angle. And then I would complete
the eye even further. I'm just going to do the
same thing for my first eye, darkening the upper
eyelid and also give darkness of the
pupils inside of the eye. After that, I can darken the lower eyelid
a little bit too. Then we want to
work on the nose, and we want to see how
we can get that right. This would be the
shape of the nose. Then after that, I'll determine the placement
of the mouth. You can use any
other shape that you like as long as it
represents bats. So there are no limits unless that you're considering
the creature that you're mixing it with human features and also the
gender of your character, either you want it to
be a boy or a girl. Now. This time, because I
want my character to be even cuter and fun and more fun, I'll consider a
hairstyle for it. That's why I'm creating
this shape over here in order to
create the hairstyle. Cause the character that I've
considered here is a boy. Alright. Now it's time to erase all the guidelines and all the extra lines
specifically on the face. Therefore, we can add the details and the last
touch ups to our face. We're better and actually
to our cute bad face. As you can see, I'm even
erasing the lines for the ears that has passed through this hairstyle because obviously the hair is more in
front of the ear, so the ear is behind the hair, and that part of it
just can't be seen. So definitely it
should be erased. Oh, just look how cute I got. And now I can start adding
the details to the face. I'd be completing the eyebrows. And then after that, I would shade inside of them and feel inside
of them totally dark. As I said, I wanted to be a boy, probably with thicker eyebrows. And then I would work on this volume around
the eyes a bit more. Then again, I would darken
the upper line above the eye, then I would darken
inside of the pupil. For the other eye,
again, as I said, we should repeat the
exact same steps with one difference that we would consider the eye
is in perspective. The volumes right
here should be shown. With all these very small
lines we add might seem small, but they make big differences. Also, I would complete the volume around
the second die. Now I want to work on the
details on the nose a bit like placing the nostrils. I'd be determining the placement of the nostrils. Okay. And then after that, I move on to the mouth and I even create a
very cute fink for it. Just a fan coming
out of it smells. He's got a fang reaching
out of the mouth, just to show that our
character is a bat. This is the shape of our face. Now, I said because our character would be even
more cute and more fun. We can add these
shapes over here so we can make the volume of our character's face
a little bit chubbier and made out of feathers,
probably, I guess. So then I want to
work on the hair, and I would also work on the texture of the hair
just like that very easily. And then we can
move on to the ear. Adding more details to the ear, making it more complete. I would show the inner part with two lines just like that. Okay. Okay.
7. Bat Character Body and Wings: Now I would want to
work on his clothes and the wings because
our character has a human form or better
say human aspects. We can actually add some
sleeves to our character, so we want to show that our character is
wearing something, and even in this part
would be considered my characters arms just to make it cuter
than it already is. Okay, then we separate
the t shirt part. Just like that. Then I'll do the same thing for this arm going all the way up. Okay. Now for this part below
our character's head, we can actually use a
shape like this in order to get the volume of our first and also
maybe add a beard to it. That would be the rest of the feather coming out
from underneath the chin, and it would make a good beard. Let's move on to creating the
pants which should be done. And just like that, we would complete our work. Okay. Now I want to work. On the foot of my character. And can I say because I want my character's gender
to be more specific, I'm going to use the
feet themselves, and I'm not going to
create any shoes for him. But if you like that, you can use it. But because I want
to emphasize on his masculinity a bit and
showing his gender more, I wouldn't do that.
Just no shoes. Okay. Then I'd be working
on the wings, making them also complete. From here, I just separate
a shape like this, which can actually show that this is our
character's hand, as I said, it already
makes your work cuter. Just like that. Then after that
for the thin line, I will also show the inner part. We can even shade this area
in order to show that. It has a depth and
it has gone inside. Again, for this other wing, I'll do the same thing. I separate a very
small part from it as a representative of
fingers but on the wing. Then we'd be completing the volume of our
ring, just like that. And then we work
the inner part just like the previous one. Okay. This is the beautiful
bat with interesting clothes. I've got to use my
eraser in order to erase all the extra lines and the guidelines obviously. Just don't need them anymore. Make sure you erase all the parts which go
behind another one, and another part would be
come in front of them. And then we would also erase all the lines in
this t shirt part as well. We should erase, for example, the arms inside of the t
shirt because as I said, they are inside of it and
it shouldn't be seen. Then I would work on the pants. And also erasing
the extra lines for the feet, just like that. Here we go. Okay. We can even erase
this line as well, and we can even
show that this ear is in a position that we can only see
the back of the ear. So it would be totally
on that other side. And, you know, what
we're seeing right now is behind the ear or
the back of the ear. Here we go. This is our beautiful
cute little bat. I hope you've enjoyed it.
8. Flamingo Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my
dearest friends. I'm here with another
tutorial session for you. All right. In this session, we are going to create a beautiful
flamingo together, and we want to see
how we can get the anatomy of this
character correctly. Okay, I'm going to use
my direction line, and with that, I can get the shape of the body and
its proportions correctly. Now, because flamingo
has very long legs. That's why I'm actually considering my direction line or action line
very long as well. Then I'm going to move on to create different
parts of its body. Obviously, I'd be starting
with the character's head. So in this part, we're going to create our character's head
right over here. And since it's a bird, and we want to transform
it into a kind of human, We just create the volume
of its head like this. Also we would be working on its beak as
our character's mouth. It's got a big and
long beak. Okay. Pay attention to the fact
that we are transforming it into a mix of
human and animal, and we are bringing some
aspects of human into it, but it should have the
basis of an animal, and more of it should should
represent the animal. And then later, we can add some human features into
the animal as well. Okay. You should also consider some here for our
character's head, and I'm going to use
feathers for that. But right now I'm just having it in a very simple
general shape, and later, we would
add the details. Now, we move on to
our character's neck. If you paid attention, flamingos also have
very long necks. That's what I'm doing here. I'm considering a very
long and a bit curvy neck. Now, over here, I want to create my character's body
and I'm going to use an oval to create the
general shape and physique for my bird here. Then a little small
circle for the pelvis. Then after that, I'm going
to work on the legs. As I said, very long legs. Just as I said before, because it's got long legs, we should also pay
attention to that. All right. Since our character is
in a three faces view, one of the legs would obviously
be bigger than the other. And Because our character's
legs should overall be thin, we should consider that as well. It's got thin legs. All right. Then we move on to the
volume of the feet, and we create that also based on the characteristics and the physique of our bird. Okay. Now I'm also done with
the general silhouette, but I still need wings, which I'm also going to use
as my character's hands. But, you know, I'm
going to create the shape of the wings
based on my animal, and at the same time,
including the hands. I want to transform the wings
a little bit toward hands. You know, the posture
should look like this. I'm even considering
the feathers as the shape of fingers. I do not create them
exactly like fingers. I'm just considering
the whole shape to be in a finger shape
and finger like shape. Just creating these tip of the feathers a little bit
separated from each other. I would actually remind you as fingers or
still feathers though. Now, on the other side, we cannot see the
wings completely, so I'm just getting the shapes based on what
I can see from this side. Again, I'm just considering
the shapes very generally, and then I would obviously
add more details to it. All right. Now that I've got the placement of my body parts
correctly and determined, it's time for me to
use my eraser and get all of these guidelines
and extra lines erased. So I can move on
to the next part, which is placing the face
features, the facial features. And also maybe the
details of the rest of the body We should also consider that which parts are behind the other parts. So they would be erased as well. Some parts are
covering some others. That's why we need to just erase some lines as well in addition to the guidelines
and the extra lines. Okay.
9. Flamingo Body and Head Design: As always, I'm going to start
with my character's head, applying the facial
features and more details. I start with my character's
eyes one right over here. I'm getting the general shape
of the eye as a circle. I'll do the same thing
for the other eye, but I just take it
into perspective. It would be smaller. Okay. Now, I'm going to use the upper part of my
eye as the eyelid. And just like that, I'd be
creating my character's I, making it more complete
with the pupil, the eyelid, and
everything in it. And then after that, in here, I'm going to create my
character's eyebrow. So I will darken this area, which is inside of the
pupil, just like that. Then I can move forward
to the next eye. Again, I'm going to do
the same exact thing. And I can play it
exactly the same way. I darken the inner part of the pupil and working on
the eyelids a bit more. And then after that, I can complete the shape of
the face even more Okay. Now, over here, I want to create a headband
for my character. So from this part
above the eyebrows, I will turn over my work
and come toward this part. Then from here again, I consider volume for it and I get back to my beginning side. This would be the headband. Do not forget about the
other eyebrow as I did. And then with a line like this, I take it toward the beak. Okay. This would be the
attached part to the beak. And then after that, I'll complete the beak as well. This would be the mouth involving and including
both upper and lower beaks. So I would have to complete the lower beak a bit
more longer as well. Here we go. As you paid attention
in flamingos, we also have a curve line
here at the tip of the beak, and we would actually show the two colors on the beak
with this line over here. From below the eye,
it's the same. We would complete the
beak just like that. Here we go. All right. Now, here we go into this. Now I'm going to work on my character's hairstyle
with feathers, obviously. As you can see, I'm creating the feathers, not
very organized, a bit more random and disorganized it would look
more natural and better. I'm actually considering this
character as an athlete, specifically because it's also a very slim and maybe
even fit character. These characteristics
would actually fit it so well and it would make our character much
more fun as well. Okay. I'm done with the head. Now I have to follow
the lines on the neck. And then we add it to the body. Up to here, I'm going to erase all the extra lines in the head, so I'd be done with the head, and I can get the final
shape of the head, and it would show itself
much more better. I can see it much more better. And then obviously I can continue with the
rest of the body. So I'm done with the head and I'm erasing all
these extra lines here. Make sure you get them all, don't forget any parts. This would be our final lines. H that? No, it's time that we move
forward with the body. You know, I'm just going to work onto my
character's shoulders, dragging it all the way toward
the rest of the arm and the feathers leading up to the feather the
finger like feathers. We also consider these parts
as this feathery shape, as we want to emphasize
on the texture, and we'll complete the
finger like feathers so we'll be done with the
hand and with the arm. Okay. I would also create these
small lines in order to show more of a
humanistic feature of the arm muscles and stuff. Okay, I want my character
to wear sports clothes. So I'm going to use them
for this character. Creating a little sleeve here getting this round
neckline as the color. And then from this side, I work on the other shoulder and completing the volume
of the whole body. And then this would be
my further neckline. I'm using several shapes in
order to show sports clothes. In the same step, I'm
going to complete this other arm and
this other hand. First of all, I
create one feather, which looks very
much like a thumb, and that was my intention. And then I can
create the rest of the feathers as a representative of the rest of the fingers. Just like that. The easy. There are feathers
in the shape of the fingers. Then I would also
use this line in order to show that this hand and this arm has went toward the back of the body to the other side of the
body that we cannot see. Then we continue the body
line toward our pants or maybe shorts even Yep. I've decided I want
to go it short, so I continue this
until the knee area. Again, continuing upwards. And then in this part, right on the tip of the
finger like feathers, I will divide the
top from the shorts.
10. Flamingo Character Final Design: Then I would move on to very thin and slim
legs of our bird. And in here, we can actually
work on this joint part. We can actually make it
a little bit thicker, you know, the joint of the knee would be a little
bit thicker and wider. So we can have a better
view for the leg and a better emphasise on both
human and the bird's anatomy. I'll do the same thing
for this other leg. We can work it like
this. Alright. For these parts, also, again, because I want my
character to be, you know, cuter and more fun. I can use a shape like this. Here we go. These are just several shapes surrounding the ankle
of the character. And then after that, we add more volumes on the foot. And with these lines, I'm also considering
several shapes as the toes, you know, creating it like this. Okay. I would come down a little
bit from this side, and then I would turn the foot a little bit toward myself, and you'll have it this way. This is our bird done. And this would be my
character's legs and feet. You know, we can
consider our shorts even shorter or longer
than we did here. And, you know, all of
these are dependent on our own personal taste on the character
we want to create. So these are the, you know, features that we can vary and we can choose them based on
what we have in mind. There are no limits
or no you know, strong shapes to say, we've got to do this right
now like this on the clothes. As long as you get the basis of the anatomy of the flamingo
and the human correctly, you can change all
the other things you want about your character. And I'm just creating this
here for you as a model. So you'd see how you
can move forward, but all the parts can be done in a various way with your own
personal specific details. All right. Now that I've erased
the extra lines, I'm going to finalize some of my and primary lines because they might have even
got erased during the work. Okay. Moving on. I'll consider these parts of the leg that we've
attached to each other. Just like that, we show them. And in this way, our legs would even look taller if I shorten
the shorts a bit more. Here we go. Now, I think
it looks much better. I also work on the clothes
a little bit more just to add some more final touch
ups and final details. That would be enough. I
will darken this area. So I would show that around, you know, the sleeve has turned around the whole arm
and the feathers. And we're almost done with it. Maybe even going over some of the lines on the headband
and on the head generally. To make them more complete. And also on the tip of
our finger like feathers, we can add some curved lines or two curved lines specifically to separate the tip
of the fingers. And we are showing the texture of feathers
much more better. And also, as I said, we're
emphasizing on the fact that these parts should kind
of work instead of fingers. And you've seen filamingos. They've got different colors, blank and pink on
different party parts. So if you want to
color it later, that would come
in handy as well. Okay, remember to complete your body's volume
even from the back. And we're done. We can even shade this area a little so that we can show
this arm has been bent, and it's, you know, the inside of our
hand and our arm. Our hand is covering
our arm in a way. In here, also, I'm
using two lines to emphasize on the chin and separating the face
from the neck. See how easy you can just
do these details and separations with
several small lines. That's it. Here we go. Just like that. Okay. I can determine these
places like this, and then later, I would
erase in between them. So I would have a more
clear view from the eyes, and the eyes would pop
out more in the face. Okay. I think we're done here. Maybe even some more touch ups on the feathers as the hair. We've got it correctly, and we're almost done with it. This is our beautiful
flamingo character. I hope you've enjoyed it
and you can use it to benefit and create your own
specific flamingo character.
11. Sheep Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my
dearest friends. Welcome to another one of
our tutorial sessions. Well, in this session, we are going to create a humanistic sheep
character today, and we want to see how
it's gonna work out. Alright. So I'll start with creating my direction
line just like that. And then after that, obviously, I'd be starting with determining the placement of my
character's head, which would be
exactly right here. But as you know from before, it would be just general shapes. Nothing more for now. Then after that, I can get the general
shape for its body. All right? Here we go. It's going to be a
cute little character. So now, I'm just going to
determine the placement of each parts of the body
and maybe even the face. So first thing I've got to do is to complete
the shape of the head, and then later, I can
move to other parts. Now, the shape of
our head because our character is a sheep and sheeps have volumes of
wool on their faces, on their head, and
on their body, we should determine this
volume of wool as well. So from one part, I start showing this
volume of the wool. Then after that because the gender I've chosen for
my character is a female. She's going to be a girl. Based on that, I work on the style of the hair or style
of the wool as the hair. Now, in creating
animal characters, you should definitely
pay attention to the gender of your character that it's going to
be a female or male. And then based on that, you can add some features which
would actually show more. Okay. I'm also going to
determine the placement of my characters ears right
now, general shape of it. And now I'm going to erase all these extra
guidelines from here, so I can complete my work even
more because in this step, we're not going to
need them anymore. All right. Now, my character is going to
be in the three faces view. So based on that, I'm going to complete
the line for her face. All right. Now it's time for
me to determine the placement of the
eyes very generally. And I'll do it based on
the volume of her face. Just with a general shape
looking like blinders, I just determine
the placement of her eyes in this
part, very generally. And the other eye would
go in perspective. I wouldn't want to
work on it too much. I just work on it as
much as it can be seen. Then for the mouth, I'm going to determine the
general shape just like that. And then I can move on
to work on the body. Just be careful that I would not consider the
woolen area right now. Right now, I'm just focusing on the skeleton and the basic
physiology of the body. So first, I'm going to
determine the neck, and then I move on to create
the volume of the hands. I want to have the
hands next to my body. And just very generally
determine that just like that. Then again, I would
work on the legs. I would work on the
skeleton of the legs. I will determine them. And I would also create the
sheep without any shoes, and we would be using the
volume of the feet themselves. Okay. This was the foot which was closer to us and now
we want to work on the foot which is
further from us and we would create that based on the foot that
we've already created. It would be further from
the previous one from us and smaller a
bit, not too much. I've already
explained these parts in human characters
much more completely, and I'm just giving you some hints about this since if it's your
first course with me, how we are actually getting these volumes based
on what lines. Okay. Now, based on the other hand that
we've already created, we determine the volume
of this arm as well, and then later we can add
several details to it.
12. Sheep Body and Head Design: Okay. Now, based
on the fact that the general volume of our
body has been determined, we can move on to the next
step and actually having more details or place the
parts in better position. All right. I start from the
head, adding more details, I start with the ear
obviously because our ear has one top area
and one bottom area. I'm going to use a line
like this so I can separate the inner apart from the outer part and then based on the volume of our sheep, we create a beautiful shape
right here next to it. All right. So right next to our ear, we would come down toward
underneath the mouth. This would be a good
line going on here. Then after that,
more completely, I would work on the
eyebrows and then later after that,
completing the eyes. Okay. We'll create the eyebrows above that part that we've
already created previously. And then we can move on
to work on the eyes. For the eyes, we darken the
upper eyelid like this, then we move on to the pupil, the inner part of the
eye, just like that. Adding the iris,
the pupil itself, so we'd be determining the
dark parts of the eye. Then we move on to the lower eyelid and we dark
in it as well. So it would be
determined too. Okay. Now, in this step, we would just determine the
main placement of our eye, and then in the last phase, we would complete our details. All right, then I would be determining the inner
part of this eye as well. There we go, like that. And then I'd also complete
the shape of the eyebrow. Now I move on to my
character's nose. Based on this line
that I've got here, I come towards the eye, and then after that, I will determine the
shape of the nose. Then I move toward
the other side, the opposite side, creating another nostril for
her on that side. And I do it based on my character's mouth
shape, and mouth volume. And that would help
me in order to create my character's lips
and mouth completely. Just like that. And then I would also determine
some line below the lips. Even now, the shapes
and forms are still general and they don't have any specific details,
even up to now. So just like that, I determine
the volume of my face. We have already
created the wool area, and we've separated it. And from this woolen
part to this side, we create a line, so the whole volume would
be specified by now. Okay. Now I'm going to work on her neckline and the
neckline of her clothes. So just like that, I consider a woolen
neckline for her clothes. Then I move on to the sleeves, and I create the
sleeves based on the volume of my
arm, just like that. And then I'd move on to
the hands themselves, and I try to work on
the hands up to here. Okay, I'm going to continue
a bit more on her clothes. For this lower part, I'm
just going to consider a puff because I want to show that she's wearing
a woolen dress, and if you've paid attention
in woolen clothes, there are some puffs. So because we want to show the texture here,
we create the puff. Even it comes out of back
of the arm a little bit. Then I work on the
other arm the same way. And then I create the hand
as much as it's visible. Now I want to create a
skirt for my character. And I'm actually going to create a very curved line
toward her back to get the volume and the shape
of the skirt correctly. And then in this step, I'm going to add the last and final
details to my character. But obviously, before that, I should erase all the
extra lines completely. So I've just got to erase all my extra lines and
guidelines so I can take my final step and finish my character with
all its beautiful details. Okay. We would erase the inner
lines of our face the same way because we are in
the last step here, right before the
last step actually. All right. Here we
are. There we go. That's all we've got. Now we erase all the
extra lines all over her. I would also erase
the extra lines for the legs for the part of the legs which are actually
underneath the skirt. They can't be seen, so there is no reason for them
to have lines anymore.
13. Sheep Character Final Design: Okay. Now in this step, we would actually add
more details to our work. And as usual, we
start from the top, from the head to
add the details. Now, because we want
to show the volume of our characters here to
be made out of a wool, we would be using
shapes like this. It just gives you the
feeling of wall texture. We just determine
these volumes here. As you can see, it shouldn't
have any specific order, so it would look more
natural and it wouldn't be just artificial or too fake. Plus, this way, it
would even look cuter. From this side, we try to
create the same shape. Even we continue this
shape underneath our face all the way to the other side of
the face, just like that. Then we can move
on to the ears and maybe then we can complete our form and finish and
finalize our shape. Okay. Now, we move on to work on the inner part of our face. I'd be starting from
the side of the face. We come down to the cheeks, giving it a very beautiful
round shape here. It's got round cheeks. So cute. I come all the way
down surrounding the chin and going up again on this opposite
side of the face. Okay. Now we can move on
to our character's eyes. We would complete this
inner part totally. And we just keep a
light in the eye. We just create the
other eye the same way, and we keep the
shine in the eye. Now we want to move on
to our upper eyelid. And we consider another line
for our eyed, just above it. And I'll do the same thing
for both eyes, whatever I do. Then I work on the
eyebrows a bit more, maybe darkening them a little. And for the other eyebrow, again, I'll do the same thing. And then I complete the shape of the eye and I also consider a very little
line just below the eyes. It makes it more cute and gives it more
of characteristics. I would definitely have to darken the inner
part a bit more. It should be more visible. Then I work on the nose on the nostrils
specifically first. So I work on the nose like that. Then we move on to the lips
and we complete the lips. We also create line, one vertical line
just to show that the both sides are in
different perspectives. I would also show this line
below the lips as well, just to give her a little chin. And then we can move
on to the neck line or the collar of our Shape. I just follow up on
my primary lines and get the shape just as
my primary sketch. I'm just adding some vertical
lines over here in order to emphasize on the texture
wool and the clothes. You can even create some
patterns on it as well just to have more details on your clothes and
on your character. Okay. Now I would continue the same lines on the
rest of the clothes. For the arm which
is further from us, only one line would be
complete and would be enough. But for the body, because we want to
show that this part has parts which are
curved in and prominent, it has ups and downs. We should create the thin
line the same way with the same ups and downs to
show the shape of the body. Okay. Now maybe I want to
have a design and some patterns on her
clothes to make it, you know, more fun and cuter. I want to have a bell, a bell shape as a
pattern of her clothes. That would be the
top of the bell, and this would be the bottom of the bell, which actually rings. As I said, these are just
details that are optional. If you like it, you can add it. If not, you can just leave them out and just never
look at it again. I do it because I don't
want to leave it too simple and I want it to be
more interesting. So I'd be continuing the rest of my lines based on the
volume of the clothes. I'll consider these
lines up and down. Also for this R, which
is closer to us, I can consider
more than one line and create them just like that. As you've paid attention, I'm creating these lines very
thin because I just want to show that these are some
patterns on our clothes. The main lines of the
clothes should be darker and obviously
more prominent. So they would be different
from the inner lines that are just there for
patterns and textures. Okay. Working on
the hands as well. Just with several lines, I separate the thumb and also create a very small line to determine the fingers
from the rest of the hand. Now with one line, I also show the
shape of the skirt, the volume of the skirt, so it wouldn't just feel flat. Then I should work on the
feet and for the feet, I just use one line to
determine her feet. And then with a line, I would separate this
part of the front part of the hooves from the back
parts, just like that. And after that, the
last thing I would do is to erase all the extra
lines, whatever that's left. And then I'm golden, and my sheep would
be totally ready. H. Let's see how it pans out after we've erased all
these extra lines on her. And here we are. She just looks so
cute, isn't she? So this is our very
cute little sheep. You can even add a bit
more details, as I said, to her clothes, to her face to add more
characteristics to her. But that's all optional to you and your own
personal character. All right. So just work on him and add the details
that we want to it.
14. Deer Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my
dearest friends. Welcome to another one of
our tutorial sessions. In this session, we are
going to create a deer together and we want to
see how we can do it, be useful and
without any errors. Basically, I start
with a direction line. And this would be the general
direction line for my deer. Now I would determine the
placement of its head with a simple circle and I
place it right over here. As I said, very simple. And then I determine the
placement for its neck. And then I create something between an oval and
a circle for its body part, the upper body and me. Then I'll just continue this downward in order to get to
the placement of the pelvis. Then based on the
volume of my pelvis, I continue the
placement of the legs. Based on the fact
that my character has turned on this side, the leg should be
created thinner and then based on our deers leg shape, we would add details to it. Now it's just having a
lot of general shapes. And in the next set, we would add the details, so don't worry right now. Obviously, our deer
should have horns. Now, we should determine
the placement of the horns. We want to see where
we're going to put them. And where would they be? We do this with two lines. And again, I say, we create a general
shape for the horns. Now, based on the
fact that our deer is in a three faces view and
its head is also turned, the other horn should go into perspective and it
should be turned. So we should pay
attention to this fact as well and then create
the second horn. It should be smaller. It would go into perspective, and it would change
its shape a little. Then based on our two lines, we would continue our work. So this is the general
volume of our horns, and then we would have the shape of our ears next to the
horns that we have created. Again, I say, based on the fact that our face and
our deer has turned, we create the other
ear further from us. Now that we've got
the general shape of the horns and the ears, we are going to attach several smaller horns
to our big ones. And again, I say,
based on the fact that our horns are in
a specific angle, we should also get the smaller
horns in the wrong place. So first, I'll consider this. Then after that, we create this one, this is a smaller one,
bringing it out a little bit. And then later we would
work on these shapes more specifically and
with more determination. Okay, now we should work on the same shape of the
horns on the other side. Again, they should
be almost identical. And again, I emphasize
on the fact that this horn generally
and this side generally is in perspective
and it's been turned. So everything we create
on this side is turned, and everything would be smaller. And we create these
other little horns. Again, I say, based on the directions and the
degrees we have for our turns. So these are the general
shapes of our horns, and because of the
fact that we are completing our body's anatomy, we should also determine the placement of
the hands and arms. Again, this arm is going to be turned out and it would be attached to our
character's waist. We would create the arm in this direction and
in this angle. And then after that, we are actually considering the shape of the arm and
the head, just like that. We want the rest
of our arm to be seen from behind the
body on the left side, which is, as I said
in perspective, as you can see, the beginning of the arm is behind the body, so we can't see it, but the rest of the
arm would just come out and would be set here. The shapes are very
primal right now, and then we want to work on the nose and the volume it
should have on the face. Again, we work on it very
generally right now. I'm just creating
some silhouette. And then after that after adding creating
a good silhouette, I'm going to erase all
these extra lines, so I can actually get my work very well, and I can actually we start
working on the details. And at the same time, you should pay attention to the fact that the gender of our deer is male and why we are
adding the details, we should consider
that. All right. Now, I'm just erasing all these extra lines
wherever they are before I start the detailing
and editing phase. Now, after I've erased all
my primary guidelines, we're going to work on different parts and
complete them more.
15. Deer Character Head Design: So first of all, we would
work on our face parts. And again, obviously, since
our deer's body has turned, we would actually start from
the outer part of the face because this is where
our deer has turned, and then we can work on the eye which has
gone into perspective. Okay. Now we should add more volume in order to create the nose. With two lines from next to
our eyes, we would go down. And then right over
here in this part, we would create the nose based on the fact that
it has dimensions. And then we would
complete the nasal area. Then after that, we would attach this part
to the lower part. We don't want the
angles to be too sharp, so we just try to
go a little bit more round in here and
make it, you know, softer. Now, we would also determine the general placement
of our eyes because we want our deer's eyes to be in the right place
and the correct shape. We just create another
general shape like this. Again, in the last phase, we add most of the
details to it. Again, I say, we're just creating the general
forms and shapes here. We are creating the
general shape of the face, but not too much details. Okay. We try to turn the lines
around a little bit more so we can get the correct
placement for our eye. Okay. Now, based on the
rotation that it has, we would want to know
the placement of the upper eyelid and
the lower eyelid. Then we would determine the placement of the
eyebrow in the upper part. Just like that, and
we would complete it. Now that the placement
of the eye has been determined clearly and
created up to some point, I want to move on to the mouth, and based on the
volume of our face, I would just put the mouth
here with a shape like this. A shape like that, we would determine its
placement. All right. Now, we would also add the
inner line of our ear. And that's the shape of our ear. Then we're going to work
on this other ear as well and completing it too. Okay. Now we move on to the horns and we want to complete the horns
a little bit too. This would be our main horn and it's in the side which
is not in perspective, we make it the biggest one. We come down. We
complete this area, which would attach the
horn to the head and then we'll complete the rest of the shapes just
like that very easily. Now, in the parts that
has a horn has some kind of branches and have created
these smaller horns, we make sure that our
lines should be cut, and wherever they
were attached again, they should be
attached, too. Okay. Let me just erase this
area for you so you'd know better I would also erase all these extra
lines and guidelines. So you'd know better. I will erase this part below
the nose, just like that. Now, I would like
to move on toward the next horn and
complete it, as well. But again, as I said, based on the fact that
our head is turned, this horn would be smaller, and we might just consider it in this
shape that we've got. Because this horn
is more in behind, we cannot have the
circular shape at the end of the horn which
was attached to the head. We cannot see that part
of the horn on this side. So be careful about these little details because these little details
are the things that can turn your work into a masterpiece or a
disaster, your choice. Turn over here a bit. We try to complete the horn, which is more in front. And then just like that, we create the general
shape of our horn and we follow it one more time. After that, again, I should
erase all the extra lines. So even if I want to
add more details, they wouldn't get me
confused, you know. Here we are Now we can add more details to our face and complete the phase and
then move on to the body. Because we want to add the
details into our face. We create some kind
of additional lines inside of our ear in order
to create good volumes. And then we would move on
to work on the eyebrows. Since I said earlier that
our character is male, we would actually create thicker eyebrows and make it
more macho and masculine. Then we can also work on the upper eyelet making
get darker and thicker. I would darker the inner
part of the eye as well and we still keep that shine
and reflection in the eye. Then after that, we work around the eye and
making it more visible. We should also go over the
lower eyeld a little bit more, making it show more. And then with thinner lines, we attach these edges together. So the eye would be whole
and connected, obviously. Okay, just make sure to create all round lines inside
and outside of the eye. I'll do the same thing
on the other side, based on the same hints, but also based on the
perspective as well. So I just start
with the eyebrows, the turn and twist of
it, the thickness of it. Then I move on to work
on the upper eyelid, separating it a little
bit by making it darker. After that, I work on the
inner part of the eye, the pupil, I keep
the shine in it. I add the darkness inside of it, and then we move around
making round lines, and we complete the eye area. Also should be working
on the lower eyelid. And based on its volume and the fact that it's been
turned, we completed it. So we should consider
that at all times. Again, connect the address going around everywhere
around the eye. Okay. Now for the outer
part of the eye, we also complete this framework
making it more complete, kind of separating the eye area from the rest of the face. Now we would work on the noes. We're going to work like this. I'm going to keep this volume, so we would show that it's actually coming out of the face, and it has kind of a dimension. And then we would complete
the mouth area as well.
16. Deer Character Body Design: Then we can move on a little
bit lower on the neck, completing the neck like this. And after that, we can move on. To the shoulders and arms, the chest as well. Because I want to
show that my deer has muscles and he's really
masculine and maybe fit, I'm using these crooked lines. As you can see, my
lines are not soft or smooth or round
around his body because I want to show muscles and I want to show
that it's very tough. That's why I'm creating
these crooked lines. We create a short
sleeve on the T shirt. We even added a little
bit of darkness on the sleeve so we could
show that it has an inside. Our arm has been
bent from the elbow. That's why I've created
that line over there. So I can show the
direction of it, as well. So they would be more obvious. Okay. Now, we move on to the waist. We continue our clothes. We complete the T shirt area. That would be the
neckline being completed. And then after that,
with two lines, we would complete the
details of our T shirt. Again, because our
body has turned, we cannot see the
other arm completely. So we just work on the
parts that we see. We can see a little bit
of our sleep there. That's why I've made this. And then we move
on to the fingers. And we create the fingers
the way as we did before. And we try to create that deer shape fingers
to the fingers, actually. And we also create
these darker areas, so it would be
feeling more natural. Now I can move on to this
lower part of my t shirt, determining the
line of my waist. And before I move on
toward the pants, I can work on my deer's tail
as much as it can be seen. Again, because we have created our character
in a three faces view, we do not have the
tail completely. But if we had created
this in a side view, we could easily see the
tail and add it up. Okay. So after
creating the tail, I can add the pants
to my character. And I would also continue all the way down
until the ankle. Then again, I turn, and I come up
towards the pelvis. Then we would create
the direction line that we have for these three phases
views between the legs. Then I move on to work
on this other leg, doing all the same things, creating all the same
shapes, bringing them up. And from the pelvis, I go back up again. And even over here, I can have some details and maybe even patterns
for the pants. I can even determine the
texture of the pants here. Dad, for example, is it jeans? It's fabric or anything. For example, I want
to have jeans for him here based on the details
that I've added here. The jeans. Now I want to
move forward to the feet. Again, because we want our deer to be male and we want the
gender to be very clear. I'm going to create the toes in the same shape that we have created the
fingers on the hands. So they would be like hoofs. And then it would
complete the feet area. Then I would move
on to the other one and making it more complete,
it's on the same thing. I just make sure that
because my foot has turned, I would get these
fingers correctly. Okay. Then we attach the
feet to the pants. We can also create some
packets or some shapes for the ending
part of the pants. So we can emphasize on the gene aspect of
our jeans. Okay. Now that all the
details has been added, we can clearly erase all the extra lines
and finalize our work. That's what we're going to do. We're erasing all
these extra lines here and our work is
done, it's completed. Here we go. Now that our work has been
completed, because in here, we want to show that
it is his skin, we can continue this line
and show it even better. And if you like, you can add so many
more details to your T shirt or any part of
your deer or its clothes. But even right now, our deer is complete. So you can stop here
or you can move on further for further details. And that other ear because
it's more in the back, we do not consider too
many details for it, and that's the extent of
our work on the other ear.
17. Turtle Character Initial Design: Hello to all of my
dearest friends and welcome to another one of
our tutorial sessions. Well, in this session, we are going to create
a turtle together, and we want to see how
we can manage that. Okay. Now, first of all, I'll be using a direction line for my character as always, because I've got to
know the direction, the size, and the
proportions of the body. Now, based on the fact
that our character has his house on the back and
it has a shell on its back, we can create this very good
curve in our action line. Then after that, I'd be determining the placement
of my character's head. Just like that,
only with a circle. And then I would consider a jaw for my
character as well, the cheeks and the chin area, adding it to the skull. Okay, my character is going
to be in a three faces view, and we actually consider
that in our anatomy. And we create the
body in a shape that it's actually
suitable for us. We want our character to
lean a little bit forward. Then like that, I'm
going to create the upper body part and
also I'll add the legs. I'm also going to create
the legs a little bit bent. No straight legs here. So I created with a
general shape like this. I'll do the same thing
for this other leg as well and consider it bend. And then I would also create
the fingers very generally, the finger area, I better say. One of the arms is
going to be next to our body just like that. And also determine the
placement of the fingers. And I want to raise one of my arms and bring one of
my hands up in the air. So they would look like this. Now, based on the fact that our turtle's body
is really flexible, we can have more curves and
ups and downs in the body. I'd also consider the
shell in this area, that would be the shell of my
turtle, my flexible turtle. Okay. Now I'm going to erase
the direction and action line and several
more of my extra lines, and then I can move on to create the parts of the face
and the rest of the details. Also, for its gender, I'm considering a male turtle. So based on the gender as well, I would be completing
my character. All right. And now, I'd be starting working on different
parts of my turtle. Now, for my turtle, I'm going to create
also a hat or a cap. And in this part, I'm just going to create
a very general shape for it in order to show that
there's something on his head. And as I said before, you can create
different kinds of head or not create it at all. So that depends on your
own specific character. I want to create a cap for him. This is a general
shape of our cap. Then I'll be continuing
to the character's head, and I'll be determining
the placement of the eyes. Obviously, I
consider the turn of our face because it's
in a three faces view, and based on that, I'd be creating the eyes. So one of them that is further from us would be smaller
and in perspective. Then I'd be considering the eyebrows and
creating them as well, one on the right and
one on the left. And as you can see, I'm
creating thicker eyebrows, based on our character, which is a male, and
that's probably a boy.
18. Turtle Body and Head Design: And now I also complete
the inner part of the eye. I will darken this area, and I would also keep this
shine inside of the eye. So we keep the shine and we
darken the rest of the pupil. Based on the angle of this eye, I'm going to create the
same thing inside of it, the inner part of
the eye, the pupil, keeping the shine while
darkening the rest of it. And there we go. This way, we can have
our turtles eyes. You know, I would
also like to darken the upper eyelid a little
bit more, just like always. And then I would attach
it to the lower eyelid. I'll do the same thing
for the other eye. Obviously, the upper
eyelid would be darker. Then from here, I'm
going to work on my character's nose shape
with several lines. I am determining the shape over here and the
volume of the nose, and there goes the nostrils. And then after that, I would be moving on
to create his mouth, which is also smiling. We have a very happy
turtle boy here. I would also have to create the lower lip to
complete the mouth. And in here, we want to see
inside of our turtle's mouth. So we would also have to
create teeth for him. He is smiling with
his teeth showing. And then this would be
my character's tongue. And now he's laughing out loud. And then I will darken this inner area so I could show that this is
inside of the mouth, which has a depth, and it's separated from the
teeth and the tongue, specifically showing
the teeth more. Okay. I would also like to create several details
underneath my eyes or I say below the eyes, just emphasizing on the lower
eyelids a bit more too, or this ring inside of the eye, making it just a
bit more complete. Like that. And then I would move on to work on the clothes
and the collar. Now, because I want to create
some cloths for my turtle, well, what clothes to be better for a turtle
than a turtleneck. Okay. I know this
is kind of obvious, but I want to have a
turtleneck for my turtle. In order to create the
turtleneck, first, we're going to create the shape
of the turtleneck collar, and then we try to bring
it down toward the body. I create a very light line
here just to show that. We have a volume
here coming out. And then with the rest of our shapes and patterns for our clothes in
the last phase, it would even show better. So don't worry about it. Even up to now, it's showing it's a turtleneck. Then for the sleeves, I'm going to emphasize
on the loose sleeves. So I can show that it's a
turtle eck sweater, maybe. Then I turn it around the hand. Again, I say, loose sleeves. And then I can work on creating the fingers of the turtle and the
shape of its hand. For his hand. I want to bend
one of the fingers down. This is one of the fingernails. It's like he has closed his thumb into the
palm of his hand, and then he is keeping all the other fingers upwards and he's saying hi or waving. As I said before, you can do any other shape, any other design or anything you want with your
animalistic characters. Okay. Now I'm working on the
rest of the sleeve, bringing it down, exaggerating
the size a little. It's kind of an oversize, maybe. And then I get to the
stomach and the belly area. Now, because I want
it to look cuter, I consider a belly or better say a big
belly for our turtle. Okay. Before I move on to the
pants and the lower body, I want to complete this
other sleeve as well. In order to show that, again, I'm going to make it
a little bit more oversize in order to
show that it's loose. It's a loose sleeve. A good match for the turtle leg. And then we go up. Over here, I'm using two
lines to show that it kind of has an armpit and
it has a volume there. It's not just flat. Okay. Now I work on
the tip of the sleeve, making all the edges and
corners round and smooth. So we want to show that puffy, maybe even a little bit of
wool texture in our clothes. That's a turtle n sweater. So for this other hand, I would also be adding the
fingers like this, only three. Now, before I move down
to the lower body part, I'm going to erase all the
extra lines over here in our upper body part
and then even add some patterns and maybe even
designs on the sweater. Iconic a cute turtle leg
dressed on a turtle.
19. Turtle Character Final Design: Now, in order to create
some patterns on it, I'm using several
curved lines over here and then bringing
them toward inside and out again so that we can actually emphasize
on the angle and some ups and downs
directions on this area. On the central part, we twist and curve these
lines a little less so we can show actually the turn and the neck and the three D
shape of our character. And on this side, the curve
is in the opposite direction. If you pay attention
to that, you can see. You only see this part of it on the last line
because it's turned, we cannot see the rest of it. That's obviously on the
back of our clothes, we will work on the neck a
little bit more and we'll bring this line out of behind our head or
the back of our head, and we would not continue that straight down in order to
show the turtle neck better. We would use the same lines
on the tip of our sleeves. But as I said, I'm
using curved lines. But as they came
toward our side more, they would be more straight, and as they move
further from our side, they would be more curved again. So that we can actually
show that twist and turn in our hand and
we would show that, okay, it has a dimension. It's not flat. We also create several more patterns
on the sleeve itself. And again, I'd say, based on the direction and
our perspective, we should curve these lines. Sometimes they would
be less curved and sometimes more based
on the fact that they're further from
us or closer to us. Obviously, we would work with lighter lines
in the pattern, and we would actually make the main lines and outer
lines of the clothes darker, so they would be totally separated from these
pattern shapes. We don't want a messy
work with too many lines, you know, or better say
too many dark lines. Okay. This arm has
also been turned, so I create the curve
in the right direction. Okay. As I said, make sure that you'll darken the outer lines
or the main lines of your clothes so you could see the difference between
them and the patterns. Don't forget about the
tip of your sleeve. And as I said, as they come more toward our side and they
would be closer to us, the lines would
be more straight, and as they move further, the lines would be more curved. Now I would also do the same
thing the main patterns, or say, the rest of the patterns in the main
parts of our clothes. As we get to the big belly, we give a very good
and a big curve. So we can show that
he's a little chubby. I bring the next line down. It would have less curve here because it's turning
more toward us. And this line would go with less curve and also in the opposite direction from the previous ones because
we want to show that. Our clothes and our sweater
has been turned toward us. Now. This would be the
bottom of our clothes that can also have
the same patterns. This is the bottom
of the sweater. It has a separated
part, you know. So I'm erasing the
lines inside of it so we can actually get
these patterns correctly. Again, you should
create these lines and their curves based on the
direction of your turn, your perspective,
and the way that they're getting closer
to you and then again, move further from you. That's the whole basis of this kind of clothes
creating. Okay. Do not forget about
our turtle's shell. That's one of the best and one of the most
iconic features of it. I bring the shell from here upward so it would be
separated from the neck. I want to show that
it's not attached to the head or neck. And then we go down and attach it to the
back of our hand. Now, this is the inner part
of our turtle's shell. So we can separate it with a line and darken
it with shading. So it would be separated from the outer part of the shell. I'm just shading this part show this is the
inner part of the shell, and the other part, which I've separated it with a line is the outer part of it. The part which has the patterns and you see it is
the outer part. Okay, I want to move on my
turtles legs because we have considered our legs to be also flexible and
even a little bit bent. We create the pants the
same way, loose pants. So we want to show
that it's bent. We also consider several
lines in order to show that it's been wrinkled and maybe even folded a
bit on some parts, specifically on the knee
area, which is bent. Then we create the
fingers or say, our toes on the foot, based on what you can
see on an actual turtle. Then we move on
to the other leg. Again, we will still have
this line and consider it. Based on what we've got here. And then with a shape like this, I will complete the
shape of the leg. From here, very
lightly we go up. And then we attach it
to the waist area. And also, again, we are going to complete this foot as well. Based on our turtles toes. Obviously, this toe that is
closer to us is the biggest. And two smaller
ones on the sides, you know, one on each side. For this part, also, I want to create a curve
line to show that this part has also been
wrinkled and folded just a bit. So this is our beautiful
and very cute turtle boy. Then we've completed
it this way, I also erase this outer
part of the shell and all the extra lines which are left in my work
wherever they are, I just go over them once more, check if everything
is totally cleared. Now, last but not least, I'm just going to follow over
the cap one more time and maybe even add a little design on the front part of the cap. Just to show that it has
a design, that's it. And this part is actually
behind the ledge of the cap. Okay. Here we go. I've completed the cap, as well. As I said before, you can change any detail that you like. You can even shade
this area or not. Just to show that this part is closer to the head and
it's inside of the cap. So I'm just shading
it a little in order to show this is
the inner side of the cap and it's
closer to the head. Alright, here we done. This is our beautiful
and cute turtle boy. And I hope you've enjoyed, and you could actually
use all of my hands to your own benefit for
your turtle character.
