About This Class
FreeCAD software
FreeCAD is a powerful CAD free and open source software to create 3D models. It is free and allows you to convert 2D projects into 3D models. FreeCAD is powerful with advanced features to create sketches, which offers numerous features to convert sketches in 3D models. This software allows efficient work in computer aided design. Based on a workbench system, it is possible to quickly navigate between different workbenches to optimize modeling. Some workbenches allow you to create primitive shapes for simple 3D models, while others are based on sketches to create complex models with unparalleled precision. The software allows you to work with surfaces, work with assemblies, technical drawings, and even to introduce models on different pages. FreeCAD is one of the best free software programs for working on 2D sketches and converting them into 3D models. It is possible to work on architecture, improve renders, and manage printing parameters for a 3D printer.
Software advantages
- It is free software
- It is powerful
- Numerous workbenches
- Work with parametric shapes
- Powerful features to create sketches
- Numerous tools to convert sketches into models
- Work with surfaces
- Create assemblies
- Create technical drawings
- Workbenches can be installed to optimize designs
Training course
In this training course, you will learn how to use FreeCAD from scratch. By the end of the training course, you will be able to master all the features of Freecad. In this course, you will work with numerous workbenches, learning in detail the Part and Part Design workbenches, as well as features found in other workbenches. These workbenches will allow you to complete all your 2D and 3D projects. Learning the dashboard, mastering navigation, understanding the tools, features, and sketches that's what you'll learn in this course. Numerous exercises are also included to put the features into practice. You'll be given the opportunity to create technical drawings, different 3D models, and various parts.
Hands-on Class Project
In this project, you are going to create a different type of object with different dimensions. Create a simple table using the main features seen in the course. You need to create two sketches :
- First sketch : Create the top of the table with a dimension of 100 cm x 100 cm
- Second sketch : Create the feet of the table. Create a sketch on the top of the table with the first dimension of the foot 6 cm x 6 cm. Then repeat the foot using polar pattern feature.
Finish your work adding a material on the table. Good luck for this project !
