1. Hello and welcome: Hello, and welcome
to follow your joy, elevate your emotions.
I'm Don Cordra. I'm an artist, a designer, and an listic health educator, which I'll explain a little bit more about that later
on in the video. I wanted to share with
you today, though, something unusual that
happened last night. For those of you that
watched my last class, you'll know that I'm in the
middle of a house move, and I mentioned that this class was going to be
the next one in the pipeline. But I imagined that
it would be being filmed from my new
studio in the new house rather than in the
back garden of my old house with the gorgeous Blackbird
singing in the background. Last night, I didn't
get much sleep, and I got lots of what I
call intuitive prompts that the class needed to
start being filmed today. Now, I don't have many days
before the house move. So I'm curious as to know myself how this is going to all
unfold, because normally, it takes me about six
weeks to film, edit, and upload a class in between all my other
work commitments. It feels really important
to share my tips and techniques with you about how to keep our emotions high. So I hope you'll join me in seeing what this
class is really about. As a health educator, I've been practicing
and teaching self care for over 20 years, and I love working with
groups and individuals, helping them to reconnect with their own joy and with their
passion for life again. One of the ways in
which I like to do this is through
creative activity, mainly because it gets
the mind out of the way, and it reconnects the heart to the hands and brings us back
to that place of joy again. Is really important
because once you understand how your
thoughts and your feelings, in other words, the vibrations
or frequencies of energy, how those impact on both your inner and your
outer experiences in life, then you can really empower
yourself to embrace a much more creative
and joyful way of living that's really
vibrant and harmonious. Of course, there are
lots of different ways to bring joy into your life. I love to garden. I love
to have my friend around. One of my favorite
things when I'm not teaching is to go out with my camera and start
photographing flowers and just be in
nature for as much as I can. This does much to inspire and inform me when I
then want to start doing some new
paintings and just having to play with color
and pattern, of course. One of the other
things that I really love to do is to create little room scenarios in my mouse house for my
granddaughter comes to play. And that brings a whole
different level of joy when you've got a
little one there who's just joy in herself. The project is a very
interactive one. In fact, you really
are the project as we look and play
with what I call living words and see how we can use these
living words and the energies that
they have behind them to create and
elevate our joy.
2. Living letters & words: It's been a few weeks since
I filed that last section, but I'm delighted to be sitting here now in my brand new studio, dedicated space, which
is absolutely brilliant, and I have a fabulous
view of the garden. It's a little bit windy
and breezy out here today, but it's a gorgeous
summer's day. And if I actually stand in one certain place in the garden
and look over the hedge, I can even see the
sea, which is great. I'm quite excited now to
be able to share with you what in fact these
living words are. What does that even
mean living words? How can a word be living? Well, I'm going to explain
this to you actually, because, in fact, letters, letters and numbers and musical notes all have a
certain vibration to them. When you put letters
together to create words, that creates an even
stronger unique vibration. Now that all sounds a
little bit scientific, let me explain it in a
slightly simpler way. If you read the word smile, does it make you
actually want to smile? Or if you read the
words, smell the roses, does it conjure up an image
of flowers or even a smell? Let me give you an example. If we take these four letters, T, A, H, and E, it probably doesn't evoke
much of a reaction from you, but if I use the same
four letters and arrange them like this,
that spells heat. That's going to mean different things to
different people. For example, some
people love the heat, I personally don't, and
some people can't bear it. That combination of letters
will actually cause a variation of different responses with
different individuals. If I arrange those letters
like this to spell hate, that's going to create a whole different range of
responses again. Letters and words were dead, then we wouldn't have
a response to them. We wouldn't react to them
in the way that we do. But it's patently obvious
that we do react to them. Letters when they
formed together for words and words
when they formed together to make sentences create all sorts of
reactions from us. They bring all sort of emotions, thoughts, feelings out of us. This is what I mean
by living words. Be if they didn't carry
those living vibrations, we just simply wouldn't
have that response to them. Now, when we understand this, when we understand
that they carry power, words are very influential, sentences are very influential. When we start to consciously
work with this idea, then we realize
that we can be very creative in how we want
to create a situation. We can use words, as I'm going to show you
in a moment to create a sense of how we want either an event or
our day to unfold. What I'd like to do next
though is to invite you to just join me in a in a
short visualization. I would ask you to just take your eyes away
from the screen. If you're comfortable closing
them completely, then do. I'll tell you when to open them again so you don't
need to worry. If that feels a bit
uncomfortable for you, then just loosen your focus, soften your focus a bit, lower your eyelids a bit so
that you're not fully closed, but you're not really
looking at anything either. If that feels a
bit uncomfortable, just find something to just focus on maybe you've got some flowers in the
room or a candle that you can light
or just something that you can just look at for a few moments whilst I do this visualization
with you.
3. Visualisation 1: I'd like you to
imagine if you can, whichever way is okay for you. There's no right or wrong
way to visualize this. Just go with the flow of
what comes into your mind. You've seen an advert for a class on how to
elevate your emotions, and it's sparked some
interest in you. Sometimes things don't
always go as you hope they go and
if this class is going to give you some insights into how you can keep
your emotions high, then that can only
be a good thing. So, you've seen the advert, you know where the class is, but you also realize that the class is on
the other side of town. To make sure that you
get there on time, because you might get
snagged up in traffic, you're going to give
yourself plenty of time to get there. Off you go, you're driving
your car, or you're walking, however you're
going to get there, and you come across something that ends up
making you delayed. Either you're in a traffic jam or the bus is in a long queue, or you've had a diversion and you've had to go in a
different direction. Whatever the reason and just picture it in your
own way if you can. You've ended up arriving at
the class 10 minutes late. Before you even open the
door to go in the class, you can feel that you're
really apprehensive because you've made
such an effort to not only get there on time, but to get there early. Through no fault of your own, you've ended up getting there
instead 10 minutes late. You turn the door handle
and you go into a class. What you see is a very welcoming woman who smiles at you the
minute you come through the door and says, I'm so glad that you
were able to join us. Don't worry if you're
a few minutes late. We haven't got started yet. Everybody's just chatting. Getting to know each
other a little bit, please go and help yourself to a tea or a coffee
and some homemade, ort and lemon biscuits, and come and sit
wherever you feel comfortable and join the
group. There's no rush. Just take your time. You must have had a difficult
journey getting here. Come be present and we'll
get on with the class. Of you go and make
yourself a cup of tea. You take one of the biscuits, and you go and sit in
one of the empty chairs, and the woman that is there
has got her bag on the chair, and she immediately moves a bag, smiles a big smile
at you and says, Oh, come and sit with me,
that would be lovely. My name is Sylvia. Who were you? So
you begin to relax. Sylvia tells you a little
bit about herself, and you tell her a little
bit about yourself. Before you know it,
you've actually relaxed a huge
amount and you can really now feel present and ready to hear what it
is that this tutor, Dawn, is going to share
with you in this class. Just open your eyes
for a minute now. I'd like you to just take a
moment and just check in with yourself how that little
visualization made you feel. Did you feel okay
by the end of it? Did you feel that actually
you could relax and you could begin to settle and be ready for whatever the class presentation
was going to be? Just take a moment to
just check in with yourself and even go over in your own mind if you
need to about what that visualization there
just brought up for you?
4. Visualisation 2: I'd like to do another
visualization with you now. The same thing where you
either close your eyes, or you just soften your gaze, or you can look at the
flower that I've put on the screen, whatever
works for you. If you need a bit more time
to just think about and feel what came up for you
in the last visualization, then give yourself
a bit more time and come back to this
one when you're ready. Go yourself a copper or
something like that. Go have that that you were
having in the visualization, G yourself a biscuit,
whatever works for you, again, no right or wrong way. If you're ready to
join me in this one, then just let's go
ahead with this now. Again, close your eyes or soften your gaze, however
you're going to do it. You've seen an advert for a class on how to
elevate your emotions. Sometimes things don't always go the way that you
want them to go. If you can find some insight onto how to keep
your emotions high, that can only be a good thing. Yeah. You notice that the class is at the
other side of town. To make sure that you get
there a little bit early, you plan your route,
you're well prepared, but something just doesn't
quite happen that way. You get snagged up
for whatever reason, and you get re diverted on a different route that
you're not familiar with, and that results in you arriving at the class
10 minutes late. You notice as you stand
outside the class, as you stand outside the door, with your hand on
the door handle, that you're quite apprehensive because not only had you
planned ahead to get there, not even on time but early, but due to no fault of your own, you've ended up getting to
the class 10 minutes late. You open the door, and
it's deadly quiet. The tutor dawn looks at
you with obvious annoyance because she started the class and she doesn't really
want this interruption. You can already see that
there's judgment there like, could you not make
an effort to get here on time like
everybody else has? Although you can see that
there's coffee and tea, you d't go over and get
any because everybody's already sitting there listening
to what Dan's saying. In fact, quite a few heads turn as you walk
through the door, obviously an annoyance
that you've interrupted, what it is that they
were listening to. You go to the nearest chair and find that
there's a bag on it. So the woman looks at you, but doesn't move the bag,
doesn't do anything with it, just carries on, staring
at the whiteboard, where she can see these three words that
have been written. You then have to ask, could you move your bag, please? She's obviously
annoyed about this. She pulls the bag off the chair, dumps it on the floor
by the side of her, and then you sit down. By this time, you're wishing that you hadn't actually
come to the class. Now then open your eyes again. There's a different
version of events and how did that version of events make you feel by the end of it? Did you feel relaxed? Did you feel glad to be there? Were you happy that you'd made that choice that you were
going to that class, or did you just want
to turn straight round and go back out of the door and go and do something
else instead? Now the reason that I wanted to share these two
visualizations with you is because I'm not even showing you
anything visually. I'm just speaking
to you with words. I'm using the same
tone of voice even. I'm using almost the same words, but I've changed the
second one slightly. I've changed the story, as it were, slightly. And I've created a
different vibration. I've created a very
different feeling in that second story. And I'm going to assume that it's created a
different response for you. Hopefully, in those
two examples, you begin to get a sense now of the power that words carry. And how when we become
more conscious of them, we can really use them in a very positive, constructive way. You know that feeling when you say something maybe
out of anger, you say something to somebody, and the minute you say
you wish you hadn't, you regret it, but you
can't take it back. It's been said. Those
words are out there. Those words are
alive and kicking. It's really useful to be able
to develop this practice. I'm going to share with
you in the next session. Where we use these three
living words to really create the joy and the life unfolding as we want it to unfold rather than being
at the mercy of it. I'll see you in the next
session where we get started.
5. Creating an intentional life : Using words to bring something
into reality isn't new. In fact, thousands of years ago. Many cultures throughout the
world knew how to do it. In fact, the ancient word
Abracadabra translates as, I will create as I speak, or I create like the word, depending on its
original root language. In more recent times, I've studied the
ongoing amazing work of the highly regarded
teachers in this field, Jim self, Roxanne, Burnett, and Jody Spencer, all of whom
work with these principals. Step one of this process is to choose three high
vibrational words, in other words, words
that make you feel good, that describe how you would
like the day ahead to unfold. I've included a
comprehensive list of high vibrational
words so that you can refer to them
while you get started, and you'll find those under the projects and resources tab. I really encourage you
to add your own words to this list as you play
more and more with it. In that I was filming today and then hosting a potluck
supper this evening. My words today are
fun, joy, and relaxed. Now step two is to
write those words down. Write those three words
down along with the words, I am. Get really creative. You could write them
down on your blackboard. If you have a
blackboard that is, I used to write mine down on the blackboard where I
kept my shopping list, which was a bit of a joke really because
it was almost like ordering the day from
the cosmic kitchen. Or you could do something like my very inventive
husband's done. He made a little
cardboard frame. And wrote down lots and lots of different
words onto cards, and then he slots them
into his frame each day. Or you can get really
creative in your sketchbook, and the Wilder oyster really, you can just play with it and write them down in a way that
feels really good for you. Again, no right or wrong way, but just important that
you actually write them down along with the words I am. The third step is to say those words out loud,
including I am. I am fun. I am joy. I am relaxed. Now, it might feel a little bit self conscious saying
about loud to start with, but the more you practice, that'll soon pass, so
don't worry about it. I do just want to
say one little thing here that if you are experiencing for example, grief, maybe the passing of a
loved one, a pet, a friend, maybe grief over a
relationship ending, or a job finishing
or moving house. It's going to be very
hard for you to go from grief to joy in one fell swoop. But this is where the
list comes in really handy because you can look
at that list and think, can I go from grief
to maybe hope? Can I go from hope to
maybe calm or still. Can I go from grief
to connection, which might not mean
connection with other people as you want to be quite in your own solitude, but maybe it might be
connection with nature, which again will be uplifting. Do play around with
this whereever your circumstances are. Of course, you can use this practice not only for setting the
intention for the day, but for any event or any circumstance that
you find yourself in. Another example
might be you know, if you were going on a long
car journey, for example, that you've not been on
before and you didn't know the route very well,
and when you get there, you're meeting somebody for the first time or you're going to an event that you've never been to and you're a
little bit apprehensive, then you could set
the intention there. I want the journey
to be relaxed, to be easy and confident. So you are capable, even,
that's a great word. Capable is a great word. You would set off by saying, before I start my journey, I am capable, confident, relaxed, whatever three
words it is that you choose. Now, the reason that
we're saying these words out loud, if you remember, I spoke earlier
about when you say something in anger and you regret it the minute it comes
out of your mouth because you know that that phrase, those words that you've uttered are out there and you
can't take them back. Saying something out
loud gives those words even more power than if they
just thoughts in your head. That is why step three
is really important. Another reason for
saying them out loud is that it helps us to get more connected to the
feeling of those words. How we feel when we say, I'm capable, I'm
confident, I'm relaxed. By just having those
thoughts in our head, you can maybe think, I feel
quite relaxed or whatever, but actually saying them
out loud brings you closer to the emotional
feeling of those words. So it's really, really
important that you take that step three and say
those thoughts out loud.
6. Final thoughts: Using this technique of writing down three
words and saying them out loud is a really great
addition to L being toolbox, because it keeps your
emotions elevated. When your emotions are elevated, you are far more
likely to then be able to enjoy what life brings
and to follow your joy. Have fun with it. Play around with it, do what
you like with it. As you become more familiar with it using
as a daily practice, it'll get easier and easier, and it'll just feel
like second nature. Now, I'd love to know how
you get on with this. You can do this by leaving a review by just pressing
the review section, the review tab
underneath the video. For those of you
that haven't taken my class change you thought
to change your life, I've added a little extra
section at the end of this class so that you
can have a peek to see what other thoughts and ideas there are around
what we've been discussing today because it gives a bit more depth to what we've been doing
in this class here. For those of you that have taken the class, change your thoughts, change your life, then
you might want to watch it again just
as a wear reminder. In the meantime,
blessings to you all, have fun with your
day, and take care.
7. TEEM (Wisdom Cards): We're going to take a simple
scientific dive into team. Thoughts are electrical,
emotions are magnetic. Together, they create an
electromagnetic field around the body that is in constant communication with
the electromagnetic field that exists throughout
the universe. Your brain in fact
your entire body is comprised of a tight
network of nerve cells, and they all interact
with one another, and they generate an
overall electrical field. In fact, where there's a nerve
cell, there's electricity. Given that you're surrounded
by your own electric field, your brain waves are governed
by the same force as those tiny photon particles that travel through the universe
at the speed of light. In fact, the light
seen coming from a star and the energy of your mind are one and the same
type. Pretty mind blowing. This is where it gets
really interesting because your thoughts are formed
in this electrical field. What you're hearing
now and the words that your mind is
processing are all the same electrical
impulses that are made of the same energy as everything
else in the universe. Just park that information for a moment whilst we
ask the question, where does the
magnetism come into it? The heart, in addition to
its electrical activity, also generates a
strong magnetic field. The heart and the mind together send out
emotional information, which is then communicated to the electromagnetic fields
of the people all around us. They in turn are communicating
their information to us. You know the feeling
when you walk into a room that has
a bad vibe to it, because what you're experiencing through your own energy field is the lower
vibrational frequency of someone else's energy field. It's been scientifically
measured that negative emotions make our field weaker while positive emotions
strengthen it. The scientist and philosopher,
doctor David Hawkins, he created an energy map which shows the vibrational frequency
of different emotions, which he numbered 1-1 thousand. So you've got the
emotions of reason, love, joy, peace, excuse me, they're all 400-600, whereas
the emotions of shame, guilt, anger, and fear
are all below 150. What he also discovered
through this research is that any emotion below 200 actually
cause ourselves to die. This is why it's so important, so crucial to our well
being that we manage to regulate and manage
our emotions well. So let's just go
back to thoughts. What happens to them when we release them? Do they disappear? No, they don't, because
the forms of energy, which is always in
constant motion, seeking that, which is similar in a vibrational
frequency to itself. So when you attach an
emotion to the thought form, that then acts like a magnet, and that energy will seek out other similar emotions from the universal
electromagnetic field. So if we can run
with the idea that energy likes to find other energy that is
the same as itself. In other words, like finds like, then the way I kind of think about this and try
to put it into a very simple explanation
is if you can imagine these clusters of
energy, in other words, the clusters of our
thoughts and emotions, and we send them out there, and they mix up with
all other kinds of energy that are of a
similar vibration. Then I like to think in a way, it keeps it really simple for
me. This is why I like it. I like to think of it
in a sense that the energy clusters together
and they create clouds. Now, when a cloud gets
full enough, it will rain. My lovely idea here is what kind of cloud do
I want to stand under? Do I want to stand under the lovely cluster of
energy cloud that has gorgeous thoughts in
it and have that rain down upon me with
lovely kindness, compassion,
understanding, or do I want to be adding to
the cloud of hatred, fear, resentment, jealousy, and that cloud gets bigger and
bigger and bigger. And because those are the
thoughts that I'm sending out, that's the cloud that then
decides to reign on top of me. You might find that a very simplistic way of
looking at things, but for me, it works. I hope it works for you, too. Quite a lot of food
for thought, isn't it? And I invite you to
listen to it again at some point if it
resonates with you. In the meantime,
let's take a look at what materials
you're going to need to make your lovely transformative cards that are going to bring about more awareness for you for your own growth
and transformation, and they're going to
really help you to refocus the way you
think about things.
