1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Sophie. Neither novel. I'm an illustrator, fine artists. I do animation, I do music, and I have my game studio, which was called happy Daguerre studio. So as you can see, I'm really connected to art and I have connection to creativity. I love everything about art, about creating. I want to share this knowledge with you. Of course, I want to share with you my tips and tricks. But I think the most important part is the philosophy, the vision, my thoughts about art and creativity. And by doing so, I hope that you will develop as an artist and develop as a thinker. So I'm really happy to teach on skill share. I encourage you to take my classes. Thank you.
2. Class Project : Yeah, I'm so happy to introduce you to my class. I worked on this class for a really long time. And the class turned to be out longer than expected. Because I wanted to concentrate. Almost all the knowledge that I know about drawing flowers consciously. In this class, you will learn not only how to draw flowers beautifully and yeah, beautiful, but also to understand the flower structure. To really understand the flower as a whole and draw it was knowledge and understanding. So as graduate biologist specializing in botany field, I really think that it's important to understand what you are drawing if it's human, animal, or a plant. So I prepared for you this class to really understand what's behind the flower, actually, i and divided the class into four main parts. Firstly, I'm going to teach you the flower theory, the basics. Secondly, we are going to lose the sketch on paper from images that we found on internet. Certainly we are going to paint with watercolor. And the last step is to finish the image in Adobe fresco. So as you can see, this class is really concentrated. And if you're a person who wants to learn a variety of medium in one class. This class is for you. 3. Flower Theory: Hi, this is lesson is just an extra bonus section for this course. I created just for fun. And it was hoped that some of you will find this useful and little nice basis. Just drawing flowers consciously. I'm a great admirer of plants and I graduated with a major or in plant physiology. So I, I think that in order to draw flowers, you need to know some of its anatomy. 4. Flower Theory pt. 2: Hi and welcome to the second lecture. In this lecture, I will be talking about an fluorescence. And here are a bunch of photographs of fire wheat flour, from which I will pick a few and start sketching in the next lesson. So as you can see, the many, many images. Don't go and French interests for that, but use on Splash.com or just Google photographs free for use and stuff. Make sure that license is correct so that you can use it in personal projects. 6. Sketching Fireweed: Welcome to the next section. And this section, as I said, we are going to sketch our fiery plant. And I already started sketching. And I just found these three images of thyroid. And they're all in different perspectives and positions. So I will so I will get a better understanding of this plant. And if you didn't find the images of plant you want to draw, please do so. And don't be afraid. Ten minutes is just enough for drawing sketches. And it's also will be a challenge for you to draw without thinking because that's like in my opinion, it's best practice to sketch because most of the people are just afraid to draw something on the right of white paper, so to say, because they want everything to be perfect and just laid out very nicely and as aligns BI, very fine and perfect. It's not going to be so. So I encourage you to just start growing even from memory. And please draw at your own pace. So for example, if you need more time on sketching, just take all the time you need. Or if you sketching, for example, in ten minutes or even less, just skips the video and go and the next section. But yeah, in my opinion, I just think that 20 minutes is like an ideal time for sketching, for drawing, not one or a few sketches. And it really gets comfortable with topic, with objects or drawing and just warm up your hand and also your mind to draw the desired object. For example, before starting work in iOS, sketch for 20 minutes, maybe on paper, maybe on iPad. And we're just drawing things which I want to draw. Maybe some portraits, maybe a composition may be like add or all this things around me. So I am just drawing everything I want. I'm even thinking because I understand that my body needs to wake up as well as my head. So for example, if I am feeling energetic in my head when I have many ideas, I understand that maybe my body isn't ready yet. 7. (Water)Coloring Fireweed : So let's dive in into the second part. I will be coloring catches with watercolor. And for this, we will need an eraser, water color and a brush. And you can pick any watercolor and any impress your comfortable. And I have this tiny pellet I'm taking with myself to draw and paint in cafeterias and nature and stuff. And we will also be needing water. Let's get our eraser and start erasing all the lines. What we need to achieve is that the lines will be barely visible. So we can really beautifully paint in water are. So actually it's becoming a bit smudgy. And I just understand that I took so wrong a razor and just trying it. Yeah, it's getting very smudgy and very like not beautiful at all. I forgot this trick to get another kind of eraser and the soft one. And with this kind of a razor, we will, we can actually erase lines without getting paper, smudged, get everything very lean and Awesome was this movement of my hand. I'm starting to erase everything. So you see now is much, much cleaner and it's not getting smashed at all. And actually is so cold to raise this way. And it's so entertaining. And this arrays or reminds me of like a piece of clay or plus the Lean where you just you was wizard. And it's so also and t stress and kind of lets erase and don't apply too much pressure, but also don don't be afraid to apply some pressure onto the paper. So actually eraser material or get some pencil. Graphite. So I'm done with arranging everything and I will take my tiny watercolor palette. And I just realized here, I don't have like this pinkish wireless colors, so I will try to mix like wireless or light red colour, but I'm not sure if I am going to do that. So let's just try an experiment. It's not a real problem, if we will, if I will, use the same color. Really, we're drawing our final image in Adobe fresco and there I will pick the color I need. So yeah, I am. I guess I will go and try this color. Well, it's not that bad, but it's not exact. So I will be mixing it and experiment a bit more like adding a little bit more water or more pigment until I'm satisfied. But actually I don't want to spend time on mixing colors. So let's forget about this and just have fun. And it's a very good practice. Even if you don't have everything precise and as you planned, Don't lose your phone. Just go with it and accepted and accept your mistakes. I cannot call it even a mistake because it's still looks beautiful. And yeah, the colors optimizing, so the gradient between blue and red. So yeah, it's not a big deal. And when I paint flowers, I'm not to exact, so I just leave some dots, mean some big dots. And it naturally becomes into a flower. Yeah, that's how nature works. You know, you don't have like circles or exact squares or geometry, doesn't even work here. So That's why I like to draw plants and flowers and nature in general, because you can be as loose as you want. And even if you're doing mistakes, you're like, oh, there are things in nature and nature makes mis mistakes too. So why do I have to worry about my mistakes? And another thing that mistakes lead to operation. And yeah, when you make a mistake and sometimes you can learn from it. So for example, if he make Mistake, which is beautiful, and it becomes from a mistake into a treasure, you found it. So you don't have always to follow the rules. It's just, you know, the best learning is by playing. So when children explore the world, they don't know how to do it, but they still do it because that's only way to learn something. And even if you get pain, you fail, that's still a really big step. We don't get any pain here. We just fail. And it's not a bacteria. We don't lose anything was that we just gain experience. And that's what we need. I advice you say, sayings for your success, but say more things to your failures because it's much more important and endless human to make mistakes. And mistakes are beautiful. So I, I follow, I have this philosophy of mistakes being beautiful. And I guess it makes my life so much easier and so much calmer. So embrace your mistakes. Get the joy from making mistakes. For example, here, flowers are a bit dull. The flour and the front is solved right? And sending out. But I don't worry about it because it's still looks beautiful. Yeah, I hope all of the things I'm saying here, it makes sense to you and urging for you and motivational for you. But if not, just skips a video and just colors a flower system assignment. But if you like my speech and my visual podcasts, so to say, then I'm really happy. Yeah, so I hope you're doing okay with coloring in your plant. And don't be so hard on yourself. Sometimes when you're failing too much. And don't be harsh on yourself. Because if you're harsh on yourself, Yuval, you slower your process of becoming who you are. And also the feeling of being afraid to actually get to know yourself and who you are. People always like, I guess most people ask some questions. Oh my god. What if my style actually is very, actually, it will not happen. Because once you find your style, you will know what's your intuition with your heart. 8. Sketching astrantia: Welcome to the sketching lesson of our second plant, which is called as transient minor. 9. Watercolor astrantia: Hi, and welcome to this interesting section. While we will be water coloring as trans here minor. And let's add the same practice we did in the last video. But here I will just use some unsaturated, maybe some leg, maybe some green, blue colors to imitate shadows. But again, I'm not thinking too much because I can always choose the desired color in Adobe fresco. So just Kind of go over the whole shape. Let's start first with the outline will be done. Yeah, and go into the interesting details. And also what I wanted to do here, I will be switching between these three flowers. So for example, when I'm done, I will then be switching to the second floor. And then maybe paying system first and then search flour. And then after everything will be RS dry. And we can position it nicely and lowers the opacity down. So we actually see our lines and color in order be fresco. Now, I create a new layer and I choose the tsunami brush. It's an ink brush, but please pause the video now and experiment a little bit with brushes and choose your favorite brush. I like kind of Encke brushes, but if you want something else, it just pause the video now and go through all the brushes in other refract. Also one more trick. If you choose collegues, star, and as riot also brush, it will become your favorite. So every time you create a new project in Adobe fresco, you will have your favorite folder. So you can have a list of your favorite brushes and that you will use project, project, and it makes everything easier in case you forget the name of the brush. And also, you can see that is an ideal size of your favorite fresh. So it will always appear with numSides and ideal capacity for you. What does I'm saying? Digital drawing and painting is perfect. I just prefer this one for coloring because it's brighter and the whole texture and yet some fresh feels very comfortable to color with. And again, as I step was not really difficult, just color in everything. And when we color everything, then we can apply the right Jones and allows. 11. Drawing in Adobe Fresco pt. 2: Hi and welcome to the next video. So as you can see, I'm almost out of these smells are left. And so I need all such kinds is ten. And I will apply a bending effects supply maybe, and Color Burn and go over some flowers so that to this color will serve for shadows, but also for these petals in the middle. I'm just painting on another layer, but you can obviously also creates a clipping mask. It's just how you like, but I think it's sometimes really gives us nice effect when while drawing in blending mode, you sometimes go over the main shape and that's the color changes. And this is the outside has just another color, and it looks cool. So the final step, which is really fun, I choose another push, which is kind of more sing, sick and Encke. And I will, I will draw the filaments with it. So the align nist, the sacred in that case because it needs to be livable. Zi1, the overall outline. And because I want to achieve this kind of Chinese effects. So I want this to be like really Anki and really Texture. I just experiment a little bit so I apply pressure and lower down. So now let's add some background, I guess. So let's align this yellow alot, but also the red one as a PG-13. And I guess I will go with if you want. So you always need to plan all the colors and advanced because you can always change, is due to be flexible in the process. And it's good to constantly change some things. Because this way you allow yourself to experiment and to find new solutions. And if you're always stick with your plan, it's good, but it can be safe and allow yourself a little bit of flexibility. Ells as elements like some abstract shapes and also experiment was blending modes. I like to use this a lot, but I guess now it's not that it does look great now, but you can experiment with it. And I also have a course on adding visual elements to your illustration to make it look more finished and more LACMA fun and playful. So you can check it out also. But what I will do is I will texture. So maybe if you have seen my artworks, I add a lot of texture, my illustrations, and I want to show you how I actually do this. So another refresh go there already. Russia's really textured ones which you can explore and experiment with. And I usually makes size a lot better and bigger. And just go over the whole image. What's nice about that photo is quite big.
12. Quick note: Hi, one more time. You are done with the class, but I wanted to mention one more thing. I created two versions of 5-bit illustration. The second version is like as a new one, and the second one is a final illustration. So the first illustration is more experimental. And when I'm done with illustration, I like to go back into the project, into the file and experiment with it. Here, I removed the strokes and I did some yeah, overlay of brush strokes, more texture. And I like to add those things like these elements which really makes the illustration look interesting. And actually my first class at Edit as kosher OAuth about record of elements and like how to make a playful illustration. So if you want to check it out, I would be glad. And I actually like experimenting so much that I could continue and continue to experiment. But then I realized that I actually want to finish my strands here, flour and Adobe fresco at four that I had to draw another sketch. And the reason for this is that I didn't like sketcher surgery in the class. But that's totally okay because I applied all their knowledge and observations and experiments from my previous drawings into this one. I also added some brush strokes and textures or it feels kind of cute and yeah, just cute. And here I have also some variations. But it's just yeah, as variations are not big, It's just and sensor taste. And actually those decisions are actually really hired because obviously Syria illustrations are great and at the end you are struggling and you cannot choose one illustration out of 70, which you did it in. Slightly different variations. Welcome to the life of an illustrator. And I managed to draw one more flour. It is geranium. And the reason I chose it to draw it because my mom likes very much. So I was like thinking, why not to draw it now?
