About This Class

Join the class by Catherine Never (@en_sewing) where you will create patches for decorating or repairing imperfections on clothes. This is a simple and stylish method to return your favorite piece of clothing to a wearable state. The class is suitable for beginners, no sewing skills are required.

The creation of the master class was inspired by a visit to a Korean fashion exhibition, where patches were used to create designer modern new clothes. But it's also a great upcycling method. In the context of upcycling clothes, it means taking an old piece of clothing that’s tattered, worn, broken, ripped or frayed and giving it new life so it can be worn or used again.

Working with Catherine, you’ll learn how to:

  • Use basic and more advanced Materials to make an embroidery
  • Create your own embroidered patch
  • Use a patch to decorate or mend your clothes

Please use the class Discussion board to share your questions and feedback.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Catherine, and I'm an Embroidery and Sewing Designer based in London. I love sharing the tips and tricks I've gathered throughout my creative journey and exploring new techniques to expand my craft.

As a minimalist, I'm drawn to clean lines, monochromatic palettes, and designs that are simple yet capacious. I'm also a fan of experimenting, incorporating unique materials like raffia, metallic threads, and mesh into my creations to give them a distinctive touch.

In my embroidery work, I strive to create designs that speak to the wearer's personality, hobbies, and interests. As for sewing, I enjoy making minimalistic yet exciting pieces, with a special focus on beautiful underwear, swimsuits, and home clothes.

I will tell you about my tweaks and techniques, which I post them to solve problems for myself, my family lines, but even in additional embroidery and it makes us unique and special. So you can not only hide, no one will ever know that they will. Everyone will see your excellent. So if you are interested in this whole name, the next video, Let's get started. 2. About the Project: Hi everyone, Welcome to this short masterclass. They will create small watches, legalese. Usually I use them to decorate close. In addition, they can also be used to manage shirts, T-shirts, jeans, jackets, and whatever you wanted. This method was inspired by researching can exhibition about core and fashion that are still completely new design where this method was applied. Just look at this bottom. Beautiful. And at first, I use it only for decoration. But then I accidentally got my favorite chart with scissors. They had to quickly figure out how to solve this problem. I made the borders on a piece of property that they're led by attached to the shirt itself. It turned out, well, I think hardly anyone would have guessed that something's actually went to all. Moreover, this video has collected a lot of use on Instagram. I will leave a link below for you to take a look from the comments. I realized this really happens to many people and it would be nice to share this method. It might be helpful. It's really quite simple. No experience in number they require. There is no need to throw away your favorite things and spend money on new clothes when you can fix everything. I think it's a win-win. The next video is about materials. 3. Materials: Let's look at the materials that I have here. My sharp when which I found this thing, and the matching fabric to hide this imperfection. White planks usually suffer thirst if you have a color titles such as this job, but then it's not necessary to try to find the fabric that matches the shape. It will most likely not be possible. I will choose a contrasting color for such an occasion, e.g. black people is not possible to quiet something. It would be better to enhance it. If you have a stretchy fabric is on this T-Shirt, then it's better to stabilize a place of embroidery with a special material, the line and the embroidery right on top of the T-shirt. You can by underlining. In addition, we need threads, need those users. You can create a clone of your design yourself, which my previous video, where I explain how to make them or buy ready-made water-soluble stickers. I will leave a link below. We will also need an iron boards and an iron. That's all we need. In the next video, we will prepare our hook. 4. Preparing our Hoop: There are two important things to do before starting the fabric. This means wet with hot water and dry with an iron. After that, the public is less likely to make the patterns onto foreign Dr. Washington seconds the belied the public with underlying, again to save them for the integral and get on the wall. But we'll use it where to wash it, clean it out, and stretch it. Let's prepare our food. By the way, I was asked what this type of focus, this is a tangent. I noticed that I use it more often than a regular. It is more convenient on this. Reverberation can be considered completed. Let's look at this teaches our task for this project is to embroider pattern in one line for this speech stage and backstage or suitable. This is called a look. Technically, we need to completely copy the line of the dough and with a threat. I explain how to do them in my previous class. Let's take a look if you want to understand them. Now we stick a water soluble sticker on a withdrawal design over the fabric. I usually make the ages of the patch with a fringe are there. Therefore, it's Glaser drawn parallel to the lengthwise grain of the fabric. So that later it would be more convenient to unravel the edge. Determine where's the link white brightness, just pull on it. Now we're all set. In the next video. Let's broaden our patch. 5. Embroidering a Patch: This video is more SMR tutorial. Since I will show the complete embroidery process. And it will take up most of the region. That's it. In the next video, some more useful information and ideas for inspiration. 6. Final Thoughts: I congratulate you on finishing with them. I'm a big fan of the given new life to all things. You'd see examples from Pinterest or false such embroidery transformed scores. Decorating basic things. Seems to me a very promising Question. I really liked the idea that you can tell more about yourself with your goals.
