Details About the Class Projects: Before we start with the class, let me give you all the details about the class projects that we're going to create. These are going to be five beautiful coasters which are going to be very much elegant and simple. And we're going to use some basic painting techniques which are going to be really easy and simple. I'm very sure that you're definitely going to love the entire process of creating all the five class projects. Let us move towards the next step. You can observe all the five class projects carefully in this particular image. Now let us have a look at all the five projects one by one. Let me give you a basic detail about the practice sheet. First, the above portion, you can observe a beautiful color palette that we're going to create. On the bottom part, we have two basic practice session in which we are going to use a achromatic color scheme as you can observe. The second one is having olive green color. We'll be learning about how to create this beautiful, elegant color palette, which involves very minimal colors. We're going to use this particular color palette in all the five class projects. You can observe that all the elements in the practice sheet are related to the class projects. There are going to be some beautiful clouds, some ice bergs, some beautiful snowy mountains, a water body, a solid black mountain, some beautiful city lights. The practice sheet will help your lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be wear less. Now let us talk about the first class project, which is a graceful lake. So you can observe a beautiful gradient sky with olive green color. It starts from a solid black color and it gives a nice gradient effect in the sky area. You can compare it with the color palette. We have some beautiful elements like Snowy Mountain, a solid black mountain, as well a beautiful lake in the bottom portion, and some lights around it. Similarly, we have another class project which is a classic river. It is a little bit different from the first one. The color palette is absolutely same. We have placed the elements in a different way, and this time we have a beautiful river in the bottom portion. For these two particular class project, we are going to use olive green color, which is going to be additional. It is a part of our elegant color scheme. Now let us move towards the next class project. I have named this particular class project as stylish snow hills. You can observe all the elements carefully and a beautiful achromatic color scheme that we're going to use. Apart from this, all the elements that we're going to paint, we're going to have a beautiful element which is going to be a golden color. By using this particular color, we are going to enhance the solid black hills. It creates a very elegant effect to the entire coaster. It creates a beautiful contrast in all the class projects. It's a very simple and easy technique to create this beautiful golden color. I'll be teaching you that as well. Now let me take you towards another class project. It is basically named as classic snow hills. You can observe a beautiful snow hill in the background. And we have a beautiful solid black hill with the golden color that you can observe carefully in the foreground. You can observe a beautiful, classic shiny effect in the moon and the solid black hills. Similarly, we have the last class project which is elegant icebergs. In this particular project, we have a nice water body, some beautiful icebergs, and solid black hills. You can also observe the golden color in this particular class project as well. These are all the five class projects that we're going to create. No need to worry about painting it on a coaster. You can definitely use a watercolor paper as well if you want to experiment or in case you want to paint it on a coaster. That is also absolutely fine. I hope that you've got an exact idea of all the five class projects that we're going to create. Now, let us move towards the next part. 3. Art Supplies: Everybody, before we start, let us learn about all the art supplies that you will need for this particular class. No need to worry at all in case you're missing out on any particular art supply. You'll find it very easily in any nearby local art store or in case you want to go for any other good alternative, That is absolutely fine. Now I'll take you towards all the art supplies and I'll give all the details about the art supplies as well as you can observe, I have placed all my art supplies in a systematic manner so that I can give you all the details carefully. Let us take all the five coasters so that you can observe them and you can observe. We have a beautiful set of five coasters that we're going to create. Now, these are basically circular coasters, You can observe the back side. These are basically MDF coasters. Let me show you a plain one as well, so that you can get an exact idea. The diameter of this particular coaster is 4 ". The material is MDF. It is basically a medium density fiberboard that you'll find very easily in any nearby local art store. Any shape and size, in case you do not want to paint on a coaster, you can definitely go for a watercolor paper as well. I'll give you one example. So these are watercolor papers of size six and it is 300 GSM so that you can apply heavy washes on it. You can definitely go for a watercolor paper or a coaster, whatever works for you. Now, the next start supply is a simple tissue paper which we will use to remove axis amount of water or color. You can already observe my tissue paper is completely dirty. Now this particular thing is not an art supply. It's a cap of a color spray bottle on which we are going to place the coaster so that we can paint in a very convenient manner. You can use any other good alternative to this particular thing. It will just give a height on the desk. Then next up, we have a simple ceramic palette. You can already observe that I have applied a lot of colors in it. Basically, you can use any good palette in which you have enough space to take out some more amount of colors and you also have some good mixing space. Then we have a simple cup of water. You can already observe it's a colored water, but we are going to use a clear one. Then next up, we have a basic color which is a part of our color palette, which is olive green color. Now this particular color is basically a poster color, which is a very good alternative to Gah colors. In case you're missing out on gash colors, it is absolutely fine. You can use a poster color as well. Then I have two basic colors, which is black and white, a part of our achromatic color scheme. These are gas colors. Then I have a simple masking tape of size 1 " which we are going to use to place the coaster on the cap that I showed you. I'll just use this particular masking tape, make it a double sided tape, and we are going to place the coaster. We're going to learn about that further. Then I have a simple pencil that we're going to use wherever a rough sketch is required. Then comes the most important art supply, which is basically the brushes that we are going to use. The most amazing part is that we are going to use only three brushes. The first one is a brush of size three, as you can observe, and it's basically a round brush. Then next up we have another round brush of size zero. And the last one is a flat brush of size seven. These are all the three brushes that you will need for this particular class. The brushes that I'm using are from Faber Castle. You can go for any other good alternative as well. Then I have a simple glue, which is basically from Fevicol that we're going to use to create a beautiful golden color. The next up I have a golden color, which is basically in a powders form that we are going to convert it in a liquid manner. You'll find this metallic powder very easily and you can observe its application on the coaster. In case you do not want to use a powders form, you can definitely use a gold color as well. To create these beautiful five coasters. You'll need all the art supplies that I have showed you right now in case you're missing out on any particular art supply. No need to worry about that. You can go for any other good alternative. Now let us move towards the next part. 4. Color Palette: Everybody. Now let us learn about the color palette that we are going to use in all the five class projects. If you observe all the five class projects carefully, it's going to be a very elegant color scheme which includes basically an achromatic color scheme and a simple color which is going to be olive green. Right now in front of you you can observe a simple sketchbook, which is basically my practicing sketchbook and all the five class projects. If you observe the class projects one by one, you'll find an achromatic color scheme which includes black and white color. Using these two colors, we're going to create some beautiful shades of gray. You can observe that elements combined together forming these different colors and it forms a beautiful scenery together. Now the remaining two class projects involves olive green color. We're going to combine the olive green color with black and white to form some beautiful shades. I'm going to use olive green color, which is basically a poster color. It is a very good alternative to gas color. You can definitely use a gash color as well. It is absolutely fine. You can experiment with the colors as well. Now you can observe that I have a simple sketchbook which I use for practicing on a regular basis. In this particular sketchbook, I'll be showing you how we're going to create a color palette and also we are going to practice on the same sheet. Let us start with the first color, which is going to be black and white. So we're going to combine both the colors together. I'll be using my flatbrush of size seven, and you can observe that I'm ready with my water and my color palette. Add a little bit of water in the color palette. Take some solid black color. No need to hurry at all. Try to take some good amount of saturated color. Add a little bit of water to loosen the color A, so that you can apply the brush in a soft manner. So we're going to start by applying a solid black color first, and slowly we'll be applying a nice shade of gray. It's going to be a very simple and easy step. Just try to make a good composition of water and color together. Always make sure that you have more color and less water. Now simply apply these slant strokes on the paper and you'll observe a solid black color. No need to hurry at all, just apply a little patch. And this particular step will let you know the application of the color on the paper. Similarly, we're going to apply the color on the coaster as well. In this particular class project, you can observe a beautiful gradient effect from solid black color to a dark gray shade. Now I'll be taking my round brush of size three. Take some good amount of solid white color and put it on the color palette on a different section. Take some good amount of solid white color and just keep it away from the solid black color. You can observe that we have two colors in the color palette right now. We are going to slowly add some white color in the solid black color. You can observe that the tone of the solid black color will slowly shift towards dark gray. You have to add solid white color slowly so that you can observe the difference in the color. Mix the color well and apply a little bit of water in case you find that your brush is a little bit dry. Now you'll observe the difference between the first color that we applied and the second one. Now slowly, we'll just increase the amount of solid white color in the mixture that we have made. You'll observe that the solid black color will slowly decrease its saturation and we will shift towards a gray tone. I'll add some more solid white color and make it even more lighter. It's basically a very satisfying step as well, where we create some beautiful shades of gray. And no need to worry about getting the exact shade that I'm creating right now. Your shade might vary because we definitely have a difference in the amount of color that we add together. Also, in case you find that there is axis amount of water in your brush, you can definitely dab it onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now I'll be applying the large shade, You can observe the beautiful variation from solid black color to the lightest gray shade that we have created. It's a very simple and easy step of adding solid white color in solid black color. It's basically a combination of both the colors, and you'll observe it in the class project. This is how we are going to use the shades together and form a beautiful color scheme. This is basically a part of the color palette. Now let us move towards the next section, which is using olive green color. I'll be using a poster color basically, which is a very good alternative to gas color. You can definitely use a gash color as well, and you can experiment with the color palette. You can observe these two class projects. We have a beautiful olive green background with a gradient effect. So it's a solid black color in the topmost portion. And it is a nice blend between the olive color as we move towards the bottom area. Now I'll be showing you how we're going to create some beautiful shades of this particular olive green color as well. We are basically going to use the same flat brush of size seven, just make it completely clean in water. And now we'll be using a separate section to apply this solid olive green color. I'll be taking the exact saturated color in the color palette. First you can observe I have taken some good amount of olive green color in the color palette. Since we are going to create some beautiful shades, take some more amount of color, but make sure that you do not take it in an axis amount. We're going to take the darkest shade of the color. First, I'll be adding a little bit of black color in the olive green color that we have taken. Mix it well in the color palette. You can observe the way I'm mixing both the colors together. Try to make a good consistency of color. In case you find that your color is a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water, but make sure that you do not add axis amount of water. It will decrease the saturation. Right now I'm applying the first shade and you can, it's a very dark shade between olive green color and black together. Just make sure that you do not take a lot of black color. It will make it completely dark. Now, slowly we are going to decrease the saturation of the color. I'll be taking the exact saturated color. This time I have applied another shade. Now slowly I'll be just decreasing the saturation. You have to take some solid white color, add it in the olive green color. You can observe I have added a little bit more solid white color. That's why the shade becomes a little bit more lighter. No need to worry at all. We'll apply it in the last portion. You can observe it's a very beautiful color that we have created and you'll find it in the bottom portion of the class project. Now simply clean your flat brush. This time we're going to make it a little bit darker. I'll be taking some solid olive green color. We're going to apply it onto the paper, which is the exact color that we take out from the poster color tub. Now I'll add a little bit of white color and combine both the colors together. No need to worry at all. It's a combination of black and white color together in the solid, olive green color. In case you do not get the exact shade that I'm creating right now, it is absolutely fine. Your shade might vary because we have a difference in taking the colors together. You can combine the bottom color palette as well with the two class projects that are placed on the bottom portion. This is the color palette that we're going to use in all the five class projects. Now let us move towards the next part. 5. Lets Practice the Elements: Everybody, before we start with all the class projects, let us have a beautiful practice session in which we are going to learn about all the elements and how to paint them in detail. The practice sheet will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now let us move towards the practice sheet. I hope that you got an exact idea of the color palette that we're going to use. Now we're going to learn about all the elements that we're going to paint. In all the five class projects, I'll be using a simple masking tape to separate it into two different sections in which we are going to have two beautiful paintings. Since we have two different types of background, one is achromatic and another one includes a olive green color. That's why I'm separating it into two different parts. It's a very simple and easy step. You just have to take some pieces of your masking tape, apply it in the topmost portion, leaving some space between the color palette and apply one on the bottom portion. Similarly, I'll be applying one masking tape on the right hand side. While applying the masking tape, just apply a little bit of pressure using your fingers so that the masking tape can get completely stuck to the paper. The reason behind applying a masking tape is so that when we remove it, we get a nice border. So you can use the masking tape if you want to create the class projects in a watercolor paper as well. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the masking tape in a proper manner. Make sure that your masking tape is parallel with the paper edge. Right now, we have applied the masking tape on the borders. Now I'll be applying a single masking tape in the center part as well, so that we divide it into two different parts. Also, it is very interesting when we remove the masking tape, it's a very satisfying step because we get a very nice border when we remove the masking tape. As you can observe that I'm ready applying the masking tape, creating some beautiful frames for the first and second painting. Let us start with the first one, which is going to be an achromatic color scheme and it's a very simple and easy technique. We're going to start by creating the background First. I'll be taking my flat brush of size seven. And we're going to apply a thin coat of water on the entire surface. No need to hurry at all. Just take some good amount of water. Start applying it from the topmost portion and slowly move towards the bottom area. If you can use a clear water, it is absolutely fine. You can observe that my water is having a little bit of olive green color in it. But it is absolutely fine since we are going to use an achromatic color scheme, so it won't spoil the background. But if you use a clear water, that is also completely fine. You might be wondering why we are applying a thin coat of water on the background. It is basically known as a wet on wet technique in which we apply a thin coat of water initially. So that whenever there is a blending of colors, it can blend in a nice way and the colors can spread in a smoother manner. I'll be taking some gray color, you can observe in my color palette. I was already having some gray shade, but we want some more color. I'll be taking some solid black color from the gas tub. We're going to start from the topmost portion, which is going to be solid black. Try to have more amount of color and less water because it will decrease the saturation of the color. Now slowly start applying the color from the topmost portion. And you can observe the movement of my flat brush. It's a simple horizontal movement and slowly move towards the bottom area. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the coat in an even manner and make sure that there is no space left between the masking tape and the paper. Now almost in the half portion, we have applied solid black color. Now let us make a nice gray shade. Add a little bit of white color in the solid black color you can observe in the color palette and mix it well, start applying it from the bottom portion, you can observe it's again a simple horizontal movement. And slowly I'll be moving towards above area. You'll observe a line of separation between both the colors. But as you apply more horizontal strokes, the color will blend together. The more horizontal strokes you apply, the better blend you'll get and the gradient effect will be smoother. Now you can observe a beautiful blend of both the colors together. And we'll just clean the flat brush and make it completely dry, dabbing it onto the tissue paper to make the blend look a little bit more smoother. We are going to apply the horizontal strokes again. You'll observe that it gets a little bit more smoother as you apply another horizontal strokes on the entire surface. I'm very much satisfied with the gradient effect. Now let the background dry for a while. Also, no need to worry about the exact shade that I have created. Your shade might have a little bit of difference and it is absolutely fine because the amount of colors that you mix together might be a little bit different from the amount of colors that I use. No need to worry about that. There might be a minor difference. Now let us move towards the second background, which consists a solid, olive green color in it. This is going to be a different gradient background. The step is absolutely same. We are going to apply a thin coat of water on the entire surface. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply an even coat of water and make sure that there is no space left between the tape and the paper. As I told you, it's basically known as a wet on wet technique in the color palette. I was already having some olive green color. But we're going to add a little bit from the poster color tub. You can observe I have taken some natural saturated color in the color palette again. And we're going to start by applying it from the bottom portion. This time, no need to hurry at all. As you can observe, it's a very simple horizontal movement. Slowly, you have to move towards the top portion. You can even apply it on the entire surface. It is absolutely fine because we are going to have a darker tone on the topmost portion. In case you find that your brush is having axis amount of water in it, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now to create a darker tone on the topmost portion, I'll be taking some solid gray color. You can even add a little bit of black color in it as well. Start applying it from the topmost portion and slowly move towards the bottom area. You'll observe a beautiful blend between olive green color and the solid black color as well. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply maximum horizontal strokes between both the colors so that you can get a nice blend. Now, you can simply clean your flat brush and water, and dab your brush to the tissue paper, make it completely dry, and then you can reapply the horizontal strokes to get a even better blend. I hope that you got an exact idea of creating the second background as well. Now let the background dry for a while. We are going to start by painting the first element, which is going to be the clouds. In both the backgrounds, you can observe a nice abstract cloudy effect in both the class projects. One in the olive green background, another one in the achromatic background. It's a very simple and easy technique of painting the clouds. In the color palette, I'll be taking some solid white color. As you can observe, I'll be using my round brush of size three in case you want to use your round brush of size zero. That is also absolutely fine. If you want to make the saturation of solid white color a little bit low, you can add a little bit of gray color in it, but make sure that it is not completely gray. Now we're going to add these little horizontal strokes in the sky area. It is right now looking very much in contrast with the background, but no need to worry about that. We're going to blend the clouds as well. You can observe it's a very simple and easy technique of applying these little horizontal strokes in a very random way. As you all know that clouds generally have a very natural and abstract shape. There is no specific way of painting them. I'm just using the tip of my round brush and I'm just combining these horizontal strokes together. It basically creates a nice cluster of clouds in the sky area. You don't have to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. You can create a combination of clouds together according to your convenience as well. Similarly, we are going to add another cluster of clouds in the olive green background as well. The steps are absolutely same. Just observe carefully the way we are making some beautiful horizontal strokes together. Now once we are done painting the clouds in the second background, we're going to blend it with the background as well. Simply clean your round brush of size three in water. Dab your brush a little bit onto the tissue paper, try to have a little bit of water in it. And now we're going to just apply the tip of the round brush on the surrounding of the entire cloud. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this in a very slow and steady manner. We are just basically blending the edges with the background so that the clouds will look a little bit more smoother on the entire background. In case you find that your brush is a little bit dry, what you can do is you can add a little bit of water in it. And you'll observe that the solid white color gets a nice blend with the background color. The clouds will look a little bit more smoother. We are doing this particular step on the paper right now, but similarly, we are going to do this particular step on the coasters as well. It's a very satisfying process of blending the clouds with the background color. You will definitely enjoy doing this particular step. Similarly, we are going to blend the clouds in the second background as well. The steps are absolutely same. You can observe the movement of my brush carefully. Now as you can observe that we are done with the clouds in the sky area. Now we are going to start with the first background elements, which is having a nice water body in it. I'll be taking my round brush of size three again. And we're going to add some nice horizontal strokes in the bottom portion using some solid white color in the color palette. I was already having some solid white color. Just add a little bit of water in it and make a good consistency of color and water together. In the class project, you can observe a nice wave in the water body which is creating a nice depth and detail. It's a very simple and easy step using your round brush. Just use the tip of your brush and add these little strokes. You can add the little strokes in a very random and natural way. No need to worry about applying it in the exact same way I'm applying right now. Right now, you might find that the horizontal strokes that we are applying are very sharp and in a good contrast with the background color. But we are going to blend it with the background color so that it can create a nice depth to the entire water body. Once you have applied these horizontal strokes in a very natural way, we're going to use our flat brush of size seven. Take a little bit of water in it and just dab it onto the tissue paper. Make sure that your brush is clean. Just clean it well in the water and dab it onto the tissue paper. Now we're going to apply some horizontal strokes again, so that the white strokes that we painted using our brush of size three will get a nice blend with the background color. It also creates a nice depth and detail to the entire water body. Similarly, we are going to paint it in the coaster as well. There might be a little bit of color difference, but that is absolutely fine. Now let the water body dry for a while, we can move towards the next element, which is going to be a beautiful snowy iceberg that we are going to paint. In the particular coaster that is placed on the practice sheet, you can observe that we have two beautiful icebergs. It's a very simple and easy technique. You can create the outline of the entire iceberg first, take some solid white color in your round brush of size three, You can decide the shape of the entire iceberg according to your convenience as well. Once you're done with the entire outline, just fill in some solid white color in the inner portion in case you find that the color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the color in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there is no space left in between. Also, you will observe that the texture is getting created by itself. Only the more you'll apply these vertical stroke, the better texture you'll get. We are done with the bigger iceberg, now let us paint a smaller one as well, but before that, let me create some beautiful texture line in the first iceberg as well. You can take the solid white color from the color palette and you can add these little strokes wherever you want to. Similarly, just create a beautiful outline of a small iceberg on the left hand portion. Then you can fill in solid white color in the inner portion. As you all know that mountains and hills also generally have a very natural and organic shape. There is no specific way of painting them. You can create your own composition of shape. You can play with the sizes as well. Now to create some nice texture and to make the iceberg look a little bit more realistic, what I'm going to do is I'm going to take my round brush of size zero. You can observe the tip of the round brush is very sharp and we can paint it in a very thin manner. You can observe that I have taken some light gray shade, combining some gray and white color together. We're going to add these little texture, the entire iceberg. Right now, you do not have to worry about perfection, you just have to use the tip of your round brush basically and create these little texture. I'm just simply dabbing my brush onto the entire surface, mainly towards the left hand side. And you can also apply it on the right hand side as well. Just leave some solid white spaces in between. And you'll observe that you'll get a nice texture on the entire surface to make it a little bit darker. You can take some solid black color as well, and you can add it on the topmost portion to make the entire iceberg look a little bit more in contrast with the background. You can observe that I'm mixing some gray and black together. And we are also going to add these little strokes on the topmost portion, you will observe that this makes the entire iceberg look a little bit more in contrast with the background. And it also creates a nice texture as well. No need to worry about painting it or creating the texture in the exact same way I'm creating right now. You can create the texture according to your convenience. You can just apply the brush in a very random way as well. In case you find that there is axis amount of water in your brush, just simply dab your brush onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. If you compare the texture of this particular practice sheet from the class project, it's a little bit darker, but it is absolutely fine. There might be a little bit difference in the shades that we select. Now I'll be taking some solid black color in the color palette. And now we are going to paint the black hills. We are going to start by creating the outline first. Make a good composition of water and color together in the color palette. As you can observe, I'll be creating the outline first and then we'll fill in solid black color. In the inner portion, you can observe the movement of my round brush. It's a simple vertical movement. Make sure that there is no space left between the masking tape and the paper. Also, there should be no space left in between of the entire hill. That will not look nice when the entire color dries up. We are also going to paint some rock bodies in the water area as well. You can just create a nice outline. You can play with the shape and size of the rock bodies as well. Now, once we are done with the hills and the rock bodies, what we are going to do is we're going to create its reflection effect onto the water body. It's a very simple and easy step. You just have to use the tip of your round rush. Add these little horizontal strokes just below the hills. As you move towards the bottom area, simply decrease the size of the strokes that you're making. It basically creates a nice depth and detail to the entire hills and the rock bodies. It's basically the shadow that we have created. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply as many as strokes as possible. It will give you a nice depth. Now let us paint the last element, which is a beautiful moon. You just have to take your roundbrush of size zero and paint a circular shape. You can decide the position according to your convenience. It is absolutely fine. Now let us paint all the elements that are in the olive green background as well. So you will observe a beautiful snow hill. There are going to be black mountains as well. There are beautiful clouds that we have already painted, and some lake in between. I'll use a simple pencil to draw the position and decide the shape of the snow hill first in case you want to directly paint it using your brush. That is also absolutely fine. In case you want to create a rough sketch, that is also completely fine. I'll be taking some solid white color in my round brush of size three. In case you find that the color is getting a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water into the color palette. Try to make a good consistency of water and color together. And we're going to start by applying the outline first. No need to hurry at all. Just slowly use the tip of your round rush. Create the outline first of the entire hill and then you can fill in solid white color in the entire portion. You can observe the way I'm making these strokes inside as well. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I have painted right now. You can create your own composition of the entire scenery. You can play with the shape and size of the entire Snowy mountain as well. Slowly, I'm moving towards the bottom area, and I have covered the entire hill with solid white color. You will observe that it naturally creates a nice texture in between. But we are also going to add some nice texture using some gray color. Also, now I'll be taking my round brush of size zero and we're going to take some solid gray color. You can create a combination of solid white color and gray color together to get a nice light gray tone. And we're going to create a nice texture on the entire snowy hill. You just have to create these little patches so that the snowy hill will look a little bit more attractive and creates a beautiful contrast with the solid white color. Simply use the tip of your round brush and apply it in a very random and natural way. As you can observe that we are done with the entire Snowy hill. I'll be taking my round brush of size zero. Take some solid black color from the color palette, make a good composition of water and color together. And we are going to paint the solid black hills or mountains. Whatever you want to consider, you can create the outline first. And just make sure that you cover a little bit of portion of the snowy hill from the bottom part. Now once you're done with the outline, we're going to fill in solid black color in the inner portion. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the color in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that you have more amount of solid black color and less water, so that it looks really saturated and you get a nice even coat when it dries up. In case you find that there is axis amount of water in your brush, just simply dab your brush to the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now if you observe the class project carefully, we have two beautiful lakes. In the bottom portion of the entire class project, I'll be taking my round brush of size zero only. And we're going to create the outline of the entire lake first so that we do not paint it completely black. It's basically a safety. Just simply use the tip of your round brush and just create this beautiful outline of a lake. It's a very natural and random shape. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. I've created a beautiful outline for the bigger lake. Similarly, we're going to add another lake which is going to be a little bit smaller. You can observe the way I'm using my round brush. Applying these little strokes combining together forming a beautiful shape. Now we know that this is the particular position of the lake, and we're going to cover the remaining portion with solid black color. I'll be taking my round brush of size three so that we get some nice volume of the brush to paint. And it will cover the entire area in a faster manner. Take some good amount of water, make a good color combination of solid black color, and just apply the entire surface with solid black color. Just be a little bit careful where we have the little smaller portion of the entire lake. And make sure that you do not move inside the shape that we have created for the lake. Just try to paint the solid black color in a slow and steady manner. As you can observe, we are done covering the entire area. Just make sure that there is no space left between the masking tape and the paper as well. You can also observe a beautiful contrast between the Snowy mountain, the lake, and the solid black mountains that we have painted. In case you find that there is any empty space in between, you can definitely apply some solid black color in between as well. Now I'll be using my round brush of size zero and we're going to add some beautiful lights around the lake area. It basically creates a beautiful contrast and makes the entire lake look a little bit more aesthetically appealing. Simply clean your round brush and water and we are going to take some beautiful, solid white color in it. No need to hurry at all. Try to make a good combination of color and water together. Try to have less amount of water so that you get a nice saturated color. It's a very simple and easy technique. You can observe it in the class project, you just have to create some small dots around the entire lake. You can create a combination of two to three dots together. We are going to apply it on the outline of the entire lake. Slowly start applying it on the topmost portion, and you can also apply it on the sides as well. Use the tip of your round brush and apply less pressure so that you get these little dots. We are done with the lights, now let me paint a beautiful crescent moon in the sky area. It's a very simple and easy step. Take some solid white color in your round rush. Simply use the tip of your round rush to paint a simple curved shape. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and careful manner. Try to have a very less pressure in your hand and make sure that your hand is very much free and calm. You can decide the position of the moon according to your convenience as well, in case you want to go for a full Moon. That is also completely fine that we have painted in the achromatic background. Now we are going to remove the masking tape and you will observe that you get a beautiful white border when we remove the masking tape. Also, it is one of the most satisfying part. You can also observe that we have covered all the elements that we are going to paint in the class projects. No need to hurry at all. Try to remove the masking tape in an angle so that you do not end up tearing your beautiful practice sheet. Now let me remove the last tape as well. We are done. I'll be adding some basic labelings to the entire practice sheet so that you can get exact idea of what we have created. It basically includes the entire color palette on the topmost portion, which is basically achromatic, and the second one is having some olive green color in it. Secondly, we have two paintings in the bottom part, which covers all the elements that you need to practice for the class projects. The practice sheet will be very helpful for you to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. I hope that you enjoyed the practice session now let us move towards the next part. 6. Preparing Golden Color: Everybody. Now let us prepare a beautiful golden color that we are going to use in three of the class projects which are achromatic. If you observe this class project carefully, we have used the golden color in the black mountains and a beautiful moon as well. It's a very simple and easy technique to create a beautiful golden color in case you want to use a golden color, which is already in a liquid form, that is absolutely fine, but the one that I'm using is in a powderus form, you can observe the way the entire golden color enhances the black color. We are going to create a beautiful contrast between them in the color palette, you can already observe there is a little bit of golden color. We are going to create it using few elements together. No need to worry at all in case you are missing out on a golden color. You will find it very easily in any nearby local art store, or you can go for any other good alternative in case you do not want to use a golden color, that is also absolutely fine. I'm using this particular golden powder, which is basically a metallic dust, or we can call it as metallic powder. Now I'll be using my round rush of size three and take a little bit of powder in your color palette. No need to hurry at all. Take a good amount of powder in the color palette. Right now, you can observe that the color is in a powderus form and we are going to convert it into a liquid form. It's a very simple and easy technique. We are just going to add some glue and water together so that the entire powders form converts into a liquid form. Take a little bit of glue in the color palette. Now I'll be using my round brush of size three from which we took out some golden powder. Now take a little bit of water and we are going to mix it. Well, no need to hurry at all. These are basically three elements, metallic powder, some glue, and water together. You have to mix it well. In the color palette, you can already observe, due to the light reflection, the color is already glowing a lot. Using the same mixture, we are going to apply it on the class projects as well. Right now, the color palette base is a little bit white. That's why the color is not getting a good contrast. But when we are going to apply the color on a black surface, wherever we are going to use a solid black color. The contrast between the gold and black, you can already observe in the class project. It looks really elegant and amazing. You can already observe that I'm taking some good amount of time to mix the color well, so that we get a nice saturation of the entire color. Now, right now in this rough scrape of paper, you can already observe few patches of golden color. Now let me make one more so that you can observe the color carefully. You can simply take a rough scrape of paper and make a little patch to check whether you have made a good consistency of water and color together. Using this particular golden color, we're going to create a beautiful texture on solid black mountain bodies. This particular element helps us to make the class projects look a little bit elegant and aesthetic. It would be really great if you try to prepare the golden color initially only. And just practice it on a rough scrape of paper. And then you can come towards your final class projects so that you can get the exact idea of how to create these beautiful texture. Let me show you a little bit on the class project as well. Right now, you can observe a beautiful contrast of this amazing golden color that we have created on the solid black color. This is how we are going to apply a beautiful texture. Also, as I told you, in case you want to go for a liquid golden color, that is also absolutely fine. I hope that you got an exact idea of how to prepare a beautiful golden color in your color palette. Now let us move towards the next part. 7. Preparing the Coaster: Hey everybody. Before we start with the first class project, let us prepare the coaster. In this particular part, I'll be showing you how you can place your plan coaster in a proper manner so that you get a nice position of painting. Observe this gray object carefully. It's a simple cap of a color spray bottle that I'm going to use to increase the height of the coaster wherever we are going to place it. If you observe this particular thing, it is a class project only that I'm placing on the cap so that we get some good height from the desk surface. Now, you cannot simply place it on the cap. We have to use some adhesive so that we can stick this particular coaster to the entire cap so that it does not move while we are painting. It's a very simple and easy technique. We're going to use a masking tape to do that, in case you want to place your coaster on the desk surface. That is also completely fine. I'll be using my 1 " masking tape. Take a little bit of the masking tape and we are going to fold it on one another. Just apply its tip on each other, keeping the sticky part on the outer side. Now place it onto the coaster. Apply a little bit of pressure, it becomes a double sided tape, basically, in case you want to use a double sided tape, that is also absolutely fine. Now place it on the cap. Apply a little bit of pressure so that the coaster can get completely stuck to the cap. Now you can observe that we get a nice height for the coaster to paint. And you can also keep your hand on the bottom portion so that you can move the coaster in any angle so that your hand is completely comfortable while painting. In case you're using a watercolor paper, you won't need this particular element. But in case you are painting on a coaster, it would be great if you use a certain height to do that, or else you want to place the coaster onto the desk surface that is also completely fine. After we are done with the entire class project, we can easily remove the masking tape. I hope that you got an exact idea of how to prepare your coaster. Now let us move towards the next part. 8. Project 1 - Classic Snow Hills: Everybody, you're most welcome to the first class project, which is classic snow hills. As you can observe, I'm ready with my coaster and all the art supplies placed nearby. You can arrange them in a systematic manner so that you can access them in an easy, proper manner. You can also observe that I've placed my coaster on the cap of a spray bottle so that I can get some good height and I can move my coaster in a proper position. We are ready with black and white quash color, some clear water. All the brushes placed on the left hand side, a simple ceramic color palette and a tissue paper to wipe off extra amount of color and water. I'll be using my flat brush of size seven. And we're going to start by applying a thin coat of water on the entire coaster. The first step is very easy and simple. You just have to take some clear water in your flat brush and we're going to apply a thin coat of water on the entire coaster. It might take a little bit of efforts to apply a thin coat of water on a coaster compared to a watercolor paper, because the surface is a little bit hydrophobic. But no need to worry, you can just take some good amount of time, try to apply a nice coat of water evenly on the entire surface. Now the reason behind applying a thin coat of water on the entire surface initially, is because we can get a nice blend of colors in the entire background. This is basically known as a wet on wet technique in which you apply a thin coat of water initially and then you apply the colors. You will observe that you'll get a very good blend of colors together as the surface will be completely wet. Initially, only we are almost done applying a thin coat of water. Let the coaster settle for a while. Now we're going to start with the first color in the color palette. You can observe carefully. I'll be taking some solid white color in the color palette. You can use the same flat brush of size seven. No need to hurry at all. Take some good amount of solid white color. Initially, we're going to start from the bottom portion, applying the color basically in the background. We have taken some good amount of solid white color and now I'll be taking some solid black color to create a beautiful shade of gray. Now you can observe that slowly, I'm blending the solid black color with solid white color. You can observe a nice gray shade. No need to hurry at all to make a good composition of color and water together. Try to mix the black and white color in a nice way In case you want to make your gray shade a little bit lighter, you can add some more white color. Also, in case you find that you have axis amount of water in your brush, you can simply dab your brush to the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. That's why we have placed the tissue paper nearby. Now we're going to start applying the color from the bottom portion. It's a very simple horizontal movement of the flat brush as you can observe, I've started from the bottom portion slowly. I'll be moving towards the above part. We are going to create a nice gradient effect from the solid black color in the topmost portion and gray shade in the bottom part. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply an even coat of color in the entire surface. In case you find that there is axis amount of water in your brush, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper and you will observe that excess amount of water will be removed and you'll get a nice coat of the entire gray shade. I'm trying to add a little bit of more white color so that I can get a lighter shade of gray in the bottom portion. One thing that I would like to tell you is no need to worry about getting the exact shade that I have got in my color palette because there might be a little bit of difference in getting the mixture of the colors. It is absolutely fine if your color does not match with the exact shade that I have created. Your shade might vary a little bit and it is completely fine. Now we are going to create a gradient effect from solid black color to a gray shade. That's why I've taken some solid black color in the color palette. Again, I'll be dabbing my brush to the tissue paper If I find that there is axis amount of water and less color. Now we are starting from the topmost portion and slowly we'll be moving towards the bottom area. Now you can also observe the application where we used a cap of aclorspray bottle in the bottom part. You can observe that my hand can hold the cap in a nice way in the bottom portion so that I can paint in a good and comfortable manner. Right now, you can observe a line of separation between both the colors, a gray shade and a solid black color. It's a very simple and easy technique of blending them. Just simply make your flat brush completely clean in water and dab it onto the tissue paper. Remove all the axis amount of water, and make it a little bit dry. Now you have to apply these horizontal strokes between both the shades. And you will observe slowly the colors will blend together. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend and gradient effect you'll get in the background. Take your time and try to apply the horizontal strokes with patients. Now you can observe a beautiful gradient effect from solid black color to gray shade in a very smooth manner. Now let the background dry for a while, and once the entire background dries, this is how the entire background will look. Now we are going to paint a beautiful snow hill, which is the first element. I'll be using a simple pencil to create its outline. You might not be able to see it clearly, but just try to make sure that you draw an outline so that you get an exact idea where to paint the entire snow hill in case you want to directly paint it using your detailing brush. That is also completely fine, but I'm creating an outline so that we get an exact idea where we are going to paint the entire snow hill. Right now, you can observe a little bit that I have drawn a simple random shape for a snowy hill. As you all know that mountains generally have a very natural and organic shape. There is no specific way of drawing or painting them. You can create your own composition and no need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. You can just simply observe the techniques of painting. Now, I'll be taking some solid white gah, color in my color palette. As you can observe, since we do not want a complete vibrant white, we can add a little bit of gray shade from the color palette. Only no need to worry about the exact shade creation. There might be a little bit of difference between yours and my shade. So you can just take a little bit of gray shade and mix it with white so that the color will get a little bit dull. But we are not making it completely gray. Try to make a good composition of color and water together in case you find that you want to try out your shade on a rough scrape of paper, and then you want to apply it on your coaster. That is completely fine so that you know its application first. Now in case you find that you have axis amount of water in your brush, you can simply dab your brush onto the tissue paper. If you have less amount of water, you'll be also able to make a beautiful texture for the entire snowy hill. You can carefully observe that I have created a nice light shade, and now we are going to apply it on the entire coaster. We already have the pencil line visible and we are going to follow it. You can add a little bit of water in case you find that your color is a little bit stiff. We are going to start by applying the outline first. And it's going to be a very simple and easy step. You just have to simply use the tip of your round rush and slowly follow the pencil line. Once we're done with the entire outline, we are going to fill in solid white color in the entire inner portion. Slowly, I'll be covering the upper area as well. If you feel that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. Now we are going to cover the entire snow hill using this white color that we have created. Observe the movement of my brush carefully and slowly follow the steps, so as you can observe, we are done painting the entire snow hill. Now we're going to add some beautiful depth and detail to the entire snow hill. I'll be using my round brush of size zero. We're going to add some beautiful depth and detail to the entire snow hill. It's not at all a difficult step. We're just going to take, again, some solid white color in the color palette. This time we're not going to add a little bit of gray shade in it so that we get a complete vibrant white color. Now we're going to enhance the entire snow hill by adding a little bit of white patches on the left hand portion. You can observe that I'm using the tip of my round brush and I'm slowly applying these rough strokes on the left hand portion of all the hills. This basically creates a nice effect of light on the entire snow hill, and your snow hill will look a little bit more realistic. While doing this particular step, you just have to take care of one thing, that you do not have axis amount of water in your brush that will not give you this rough texture that you want to paint. If you want to keep your brush a little bit dry, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper. It will help you a lot to create this beautiful, vibrant white texture. You can observe I'm slowly moving towards the bigger hill and similarly, we are going to add this vibrant white color in the bigger hill as well. Basically, there is no specific method of painting this rough texture. You can apply it in a very random and rough manner. No need to worry about getting the exact texture that I'm having right now. There might be a little bit of difference in yours and it is completely fine. Now again, I'll be taking some more solid white color from the wash tub in case you find that your color is getting finished. From the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. Now we are going to repeat the same step, applying the solid white color. You can observe the movement of my round rush carefully, and you can follow the steps carefully. Try to use the tip of your round rush and apply the pressure accordingly. Wherever you want to have a thicker texture, apply a little bit more pressure wherever you want to paint in a smaller area and apply the texture in a very smaller part of the entire hill. Just apply very less pressure in your hand. While doing this particular step, you have to keep your hand very much loose and free. No need to keep your hands stiff and tight. So as you can observe, we are done adding some nice depth to the entire snow hill. Now what we're going to do is we're going to make a good contrast. And going to make the entire snow hill look a little bit more in three D. So what you can do is you can use your same round rush of size zero. Take some darker value of gray color from the color palette in case you want to add a little bit of solid black color, that is also completely fine. I'm basically just separating the line of difference where we have applied a vibrant, solid white color and the gray texture. This will help us a lot to make the entire snow hill look a little bit more realistic. You can already observe a beautiful separation and no need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. You can simply just apply this line of separation in whatever form you want to. It will help you a lot to experiment and explore while painting a beautiful snow hill. And create this beautiful texture as well. Now I'll be just randomly applying these darker shades as well in the entire snow hill. These are basically little patches that we are applying using the tip of the round brush. Only now you can slowly observe that the entire snow hill is looking a little bit more realistic and in depth and detail. You might find this particular step a little bit difficult to paint, but it is not at all difficult. Once you'll start applying this rough texture to the entire snow hill, you'll automatically feel that it is getting a very natural and organic appearance. Slowly, you'll find that it somehow looks in a very threedy manner as well. In case you're not that much confident enough to paint the snow hill directly towards your final coaster or your painting, what you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. We are almost done applying a beautiful texture to the entire snow hill. I'm really very much satisfied with the output. Now we are going to paint the hills that we are painting in the foreground, which is basically going to be solid black. These are basically the mountains which are going to be a little bit low in altitude. What I'm going to do is in the color palette, you have to observe, we're going to take some solid black color in case you want to check the saturation of the color, you can definitely try it on a rough scrape of paper. This will help you a to check whether your solid black color is completely saturated and you do not have axis amount of water in it. Now just make a good composition of water and color together in your color palette. And we're going to start by applying a beautiful outline. In the bottom portion, I'll be using my round brush of size zero and I'll be using the tip of my round brush. And we are starting from the left hand portion and slowly we'll move towards the right hand side. There is going to be a hill which is a little bit higher in altitude on the left hand portion. Now slowly cover a little bit of the snowy hill area as well. We are basically overlapping the entire snow hill. Now I'll be moving a little bit low in altitude and slowly I'll be moving towards the right inside, creating these little hills in between as well. Now again, you can simply move a little bit higher in altitude covering the entire snow hill up. We are done with the entire outline. This is the entire outline for the solid black mountains in the foreground. Now the remaining portion is going to be completely black. We don't have to worry about that. We're going to cover the entire surface using solid black color, only to get a little bit more volume, I'll be using my round brush of size three, make it clean in water, dab it onto the tissue paper, and we're going to take some good amount of solid black color. Now while doing this particular step, we're going to cover the entire surface with solid black color. You have to make sure that you do not leave any space in between. But before that, try to make a good composition of color and water together. Since it's a bigger area where we are going to apply solid black color. Try to make some good amount of color in the color palette. Just make sure that you do not have axis amount of water in your brush. In case you are having axis amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now in case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. You can observe that I'm slowly trying to cover the entire area. And it also creates a beautiful contrast with the background and the snow hill as well. You can observe the movement of my round brush. It's a simple vertical movement. I'm not changing the direction in which I'm painting right now. Slowly, I'll be covering the entire area as well. You can definitely take out some more color if you find that your color is getting finished from the color palette. Now simply follow the steps and cover the entire bottom portion using this solid black wash color and we are done painting these solid black mountains. Now we're going to apply a beautiful golden color to enhance the solid black mountains. I have some metallic powder in my hand and we're going to create a beautiful golden color in the color palette. It's a very simple and easy technique. This particular metallic powder is in powders form. I'll be taking my round rush of size zero. Take some good amount of golden powder in the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to take some good amount of golden powder in your color palette. And we're going to create a mixture of glue, water, and this powder together. I'll be taking a little bit of glue in the color palette as well. Now we are going to add a little bit of water. Now you have to combine all the three elements together to form a beautiful liquid form of the golden color. No need to hurry at all, mix it well so that you get a good amount of solid gold color. Now we are going to use this golden color to apply it on the solid black mountains, so that we can create some nice depth and detail in them as well. The mountains will look a little bit more aesthetic. I have created the entire golden color before applying it to your final coaster. You can just check its application on a rough scrape of paper by applying a small patch. You can also observe how beautiful a shiny effect can be given by using this particular golden color. Now I'll be using the same brush of size zero and we're going to apply the depth and details on the solid black mountains. But there is going to be a little bit of technique of applying the solid gold color. You have to apply it on the left hand portion of the mountain. We are not going to cover the entire solid black hills that we have painted. There is no specific method of applying texture using a brush. You just have to make sure that you apply the texture on the left hand portion of the entire mountain. Try to make your hand very much free and lose, and do not apply a lot of pressure. Similarly, we are going to apply this beautiful golden texture in the remaining hills as well. I would like to ask you, what do you think? Does it creates a very amazing color combination of solid black color and gold. It is a part of a very elegant color scheme. If you want to apply a golden color on these solid black mountains, it would be really great in case you want to use a liquid gold color and do not want to make it using a metallic powder, that is also completely fine in case you want to keep your solid black hills as it is. That is also absolutely okay. Even this particular step of applying this beautiful golden texture to the entire solid black mountains is also very satisfying. We are done adding a beautiful golden texture to the solid black mountains. Now let us paint a beautiful moon in the sky area to enhance the entire beauty of the coaster. I'll be using my round brush of size zero only, and we are going to paint a beautiful crescent moon in the sky area. It's a very simple and easy technique. You just have to apply very less pressure on your detailing brush and just paint a curved shape. Try to keep the ends of the entire moon a little bit pointed and a little bit of thicker stroke in the between portion. Here you can also understand the application of me placing the coaster on the cap of a spray bottle so that I can completely rotate it in the way I want to, and I can place my hand position accordingly. This basically helps us to be very much comfortable while painting. Now, as you can observe, I'm adding a little bit of thickness in the center portion of the entire moon. We are keeping the ends a little bit pointed. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. You can also observe a beautiful contrast with the solid golden color that we are applying and the gradient background that we have. We are done painting the entire crescent moon as well. I'll be simply detaching the entire coaster from the cap that we have placed. As you can observe, we're done with the entire coaster. Let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. You can observe that combining some minimal elements together, we have formed a beautiful, elegant coaster. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular coaster. Now let us move towards the next project. 9. Project 2 - Graceful Lake: Everybody, you're most welcome to the second class project, which is a graceful lake. As you can observe, I'm ready with my coaster and all the art supplies placed nearby. I'll be starting with the first step, which is using a flat brush of size seven, and we're going to apply a thin coat of water. Initially, on the entire coaster, you might find it difficult to apply a thin coat of water on the coaster initially because it's an MDF coaster. A little bit hydrophobic, but no need to worry at all. It will take a little bit of efforts while you're applying a thin coat of water on a watercolor paper. It will be a little bit easier for you to apply, but no need to worry at all. You can just take your time and apply a thin coat of water on the entire coaster. Make sure that there is no space left on the entire coaster. The reason behind applying a thin coat of water initially, is so that we can blend the background colors in a very nice and smooth manner. This is also known as a wet on wet technique. You can observe we have applied a beautiful thin coat of water on the entire coaster. Now we are going to paint the background. I'll be taking my color, which is olive green color. This is basically a poster color. You can also go for a wash color. This is a good alternative for Gh color. That's why I'm using a poster color. We're going to take some good amount of olive green color in the color palette. As you can observe, the background is going to be gradient. There is going to be solid black color in the topmost portion and there is going to be olive green color in the bottom part. I'm starting from the bottom portion. As you can observe, it's a very simple horizontal movement in case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palettes. In case you find that your brush is a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water. We are slowly going to move towards the above area, and I'll be taking some more color. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. You can observe the movement of my flat brush. That's a very simple horizontal movement and I'm not changing the direction of the brush. You can observe I have almost applied the olive green color on the entire coaster. The color is a little bit wet right now. No need to worry about applying the solid black color in the topmost portion. Since we are going to blend both the colors together. You'll understand the application of a thin coat of water initially, in case you find that your coaster is having a little bit of axis amount of water, you can dab your brush onto the tissue paper and you can reapply these horizontal strokes again on the entire coaster. This will remove Axis amount of water from the entire coaster. Now we are going to take some solid black color in the color palette. It's going to be a very simple and easy step. Take some solid black color in the color palette, try to make a good composition of color and water together. Since we're going to apply it on the topmost portion, I'll be starting applying it on the top edge of the entire coaster slowly. I'll be moving towards the bottom area and you'll observe that there is a line of separation between both the colors, but no need to worry about that. It is a very simple and easy technique of blending them. Simply clean your flat brush in water. Now we're going to make it completely dry by damming it onto the tissue paper. Now, once you find that your brush is completely dry, we're going to blend both the colors together. It's a simple and easy technique. Just apply these horizontal strokes again. Start from the bottom portion and slowly move towards the above area. You will observe that there is going to be a beautiful blend between black and olive green color together. The more amount of strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get By doing this particular step, we get a nice gradient effect. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. Take your time and apply as much as horizontal strokes as you can in case you want to apply a little bit of olive green color in between. That is also absolutely fine. Now we are done with the entire gradient background. Let the background dry for a while. Now once the entire background is dry, you'll observe a beautiful matt finish. We are done with the entire background. Let us start with the first element of the entire coaster, which is going to be some beautiful abstract clouds. I'll be taking my round rush of size three and take some good amount of solid white color in the color palette. You can add a little bit of olive green also to make your solid white color a little bit dull. Now as you all know that clouds generally have a very natural and organic shape. There isn't any specific way of painting them. We are just going to paint it in a very natural way, only you just have to mix the color well in the color palette. Now take some good amount of. The dull white color that we have prepared in the color palette. And start applying these little strokes. I'm starting from the right inside, and it's a very simple and easy technique of combining these horizontal strokes together, leaving some space in between as well. Right now, you might observe that there is a very sharp edge that we are painting right now. It's a good contrast in between the color that we are applying right now and the background, but no need to worry about that. We're going to blend the clouds with the background as well. You can observe that there is no specific method of painting it. I'm just applying these strokes in a very random and natural way, only in case you want to explore and experiment with the clouds. You can definitely create your own shapes and you can also play with the size of the clouds as well. Right now, you can observe, I'm just trying to create these little horizontal strokes, which basically creates a nice cluster of clouds. We can also add a nice cluster of clouds on the left hand portion as well. It's going to be the same technique. You're just going to apply these horizontal strokes. While you're applying these horizontal strokes, what you can keep in mind is that try to have a very loose and free hand, that you can get the strokes in a very natural and abstract manner. No need to apply a lot of pressure on the brush. Just use the tip of your round brush and add these beautiful horizontal strokes. Right now, you might find that the clouds are looking a little bit distorted and it is not that much aesthetically appealing. Now we are going to blend the clouds with the background. Simply use the same round brush of size three. Make it clean in water and try to have a little bit of water in it. Now what you're going to do is we're going to apply the brush around the entire horizontal strokes that we have painted. You will observe that all the edges of the strokes that we have painted will get a little bit smoother and it will blend with the background color. Also, no need to hurry at all. You have to do this particular step with a lot of patience and try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. If you find that your brush is getting a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water. Now you can slowly observe that I'm trying to blend the clouds with the background color. And it basically decreases the sharpness of these strokes that we have painted. Now as you can observe, we are done with the clouds, Now we are starting with another element, which is going to be a beautiful snow hill. I'll be using my pencil to create a rough sketch of the entire snow hill. This is going to be in the center portion in case you want to directly paint the snow hill. It is absolutely fine, but it is good. If you take a reference using a pencil, there is going to be a snow hill in between the solid black mountains. Now you can observe that I've drawn a reference line using a pencil. Now I'll be using my round brush of size zero. And we're going to take some good amount of solid white color in the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to take your time and paint it in a very slow and steady manner. You can observe I have taken some good amount of solid white color in the color palette and we're going to paint the beautiful snow hill in between. Make sure that you create a nice composition of color and water together. In case you have axis amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper. That excess amount of water will be removed. Now I'm starting with the outline. Initially, you can simply use the tip of your round brush carefully and apply the solid white color. You will automatically observe that you'll get a nice texture when you're applying the solid white color in the entire hill. Wherever you find that there are smaller portions to paint, you can use the tip of your round brush applying very less pressure on it. Now you can observe that I'm going to cover the entire hill using solid white color only In case you find that your brush is a little bit dry, you can definitely add a little bit of water. You can also observe the movement of my round rush. I'm simply applying these vertical movement. And I'm just going to cover the entire hill in the bottom portion as well. Slowly, we are moving towards the bottom area. No need to worry about applying an even coat of solid white color. Because the entire snow hill is going to have a lot of texture in it. The texture basically makes the entire snow hill look a little bit more realistic and in depth in the color palette. I'm adding a little bit of water so that I can cover the entire bottom portion as well. Oh, so we are done covering the entire snow hill using solid white color. Now we're going to create some nice depth and detail. What I'm going to do is I'm going to use my same round rush of size zero and take some good amount of solid black color. You can even make it a little bit gray by adding a little bit of white color in it. You can observe that I'm just adding a line of suppression in between. There is no specific way of adding this particular line. You can create your own composition as well. Since mountains generally have a very natural and organic shape, you can create a beautiful texture leaving some white spaces in between as well. You can observe the way I'm using my round rush, creating some beautiful texture on the right hand side of the snow hill. In case you find that your color is getting a little bit finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. While doing this particular step, you just have to make sure that your brush is very much dry and it does not have axis amount of water in it. In case you find that your brush is having axis amount of water in it, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now if you observe the vibrant white side of the entire snow hill, you can add a little bit of texture there as well. I'm just adding some rough patches only we're done with the entire snow hill. Now we are going to paint the solid black mountains in the front portion. I'll be using my pencil to add a reference line first. By doing this particular thing, you'll get an exact idea where to paint the solid black color. You can simply use a pencil, or you can directly use your detailing brush as well to create an outline using a solid black color. Basically, the line in between the Snowy mountain might not be that much visible, but we are going to paint it using the detailing brush as well. You'll get an exact idea. Now we are going to have some beautiful lake in the bottom portion. Let us draw its shape as well so that we can get an exact idea where not to paint a solid black color. You can observe I'm just combining these little horizontal strokes together, creating a beautiful lake shape. In between, we're going to have two lakes basically. One is going to be a little bit bigger, another one is going to be a little bit smaller. I'll be drawing the second lake, also just beside the first one, but it's going to be a little bit smaller than the first one. Now, once we are done with the rough sketch, we are going to add solid black color to the entire surface. I'll be using my round brush of size zero, make a good composition of color and water together. And we are going to apply the outline first so that we get an exact idea where we have to apply the solid black color. No need to hurry at all. Make a good composition of color and water together. Use the tip of your round rush and add the outline. First, I'm basically starting from the left hand portion. The line in between the snow hill is not that much visible, but you can observe it. I'm just painting it using my round rush. These are basically small mountains in between with solid black color. You can also observe a beautiful contrast of the solid black color with the background and the snow hill as well. Now I'm slowly moving towards the right inside as well. In case you find that your color is a little bit dry, you can definitely add a little bit of water in the color palette. It will help you to move your brush a little bit more smoother on the entire surface. You can observe carefully the way I'm using the tip of my round brush to create the outline of the entire mountain in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the hills directly towards your final coaster or the mountains. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help your lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now you can observe that we are done with the entire outline. Now the remaining portion, apart from the lake area is going to be completely solid black. Since it's a bigger area which we have to cover using a solid black color, you can make some good amount of color in the color palette using some water and color together. Now we are going to completely apply the solid black color apart from the lake area. So you can just create the outline of the lake area as well using the tip of your round brush. This will help you to make sure that you do not move your brush inside the lake area. We are done painting the entire outline of the lake area. Now we are going to use our round brush of size three so that we can use a good volume of the entire brush to cover the entire area with solid black color. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner and make sure that your brush do not move inside the lake area in case you find that your color is getting finished. From the brush, you can take some more amount of color from the color palette. You can carefully observe the movement of my round brush. And you can follow these steps and cover the entire area with solid black color. Oh, now we are done covering the entire mountains with solid black color. Now we are going to paint a beautiful moon in the sky area. I'll be taking my round brush of size zero. It's going to be a beautiful crescent moon. You have to use your round brush very carefully, since it's going to be a very small area to paint. You just have to create a curved shape. Basically, try to keep the ends very much pointed and the middle area a little bit thick. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply very less pressure on your brush and try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. The entire moon basically enhances the beauty of the entire coaster in case you want to practice painting the entire moon on the background first, and then you want to come towards your final coaster, it is completely fine. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now you can observe that I have painted the entire crescent moon. I'll be just enhancing the tips as well. I'll be applying very less pressure on the tips because they are very much sharp. We are done with the entire moon. Now we are going to add some beautiful lights around the entire lake area. You can consider basically as city lights. This basically enhances the entire beauty of the entire coaster. It's a very simple and easy step. I'm going to take some solid white color from the color palette, add a little bit of water, and make a good composition of color and water together. They're going to add these little dots around the outline of the entire lake. Now what you can do is you can simply create a cluster of two to three, or four to five dots together around the lake area. Keep some distance in between them, and you will observe a beautiful contrast of these solid white dots with the black background. To get a solid white dot, make sure that you use the tip of your round rush. Now similarly, we are going to add these little white dots for the smaller lake as well. These steps are absolutely the same, so you can observe where I want to have very thin and small dots. I'm applying pressure. And while doing this particular step, make sure that you keep your hand very much loose and free. We can also add the cluster of lights in the mountains where we want to make the lights look a little bit far from the lake area and we are done with the entire coaster. Now let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. You can observe how combining few minimal elements together we have created a beautiful scenery, having an amazing snowy mountain in between. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular class project. Now let us move towards the next project. 10. Project 3 - Elegant Icebergs: Everybody, you're most welcome to the third class project, which is elegant icebergs. You can observe the class project carefully. I'm ready with all the art supplies and the coaster as well. In this particular class project, we basically have two different areas, which is sky area and the water body. I'll be using a simple pencil and we're going to draw a horizon line. It's a simple horizontal line that you have to draw using your pencil, which basically separates the sky area and the water body. No need to hurry at all, just simply draw a horizontal line in between. We're going to start by painting the sky area First, I'll be using my flat brush of size seven and we're going to apply a thin coat of water on the above portion. Just simply take some good amount of water in your flat brush and apply it on the entire surface just above the horizon line. It might take a little bit of efforts to apply a thin coat of water on the entire surface of the coaster. Since it's an MDF coaster, a medium density fiber board, it is a little bit easier to apply a thin coat of water on a watercolor paper since it's a solid surface. It will take a little bit of time, but no need to worry at all, just apply an even coat of water. This is basically a wet on wet technique in which we apply a thin coat of water initially. And then we are going to apply the color so that the colors can blend in a very smooth and good way. You can observe that I have covered the entire area with a thin coat of water. Make sure that there is no space left in between. All right, we are done applying a thin coat of water. Now we're going to start with the first color in the color palette. I was already having a gray shade, which is a mixture of black and white color together. Just add a little bit of water into the color palette if you're already having some gray color in it or in case you want to make a new color, that is also completely fine. Now, no need to worry about getting the exact gray shade that I'm having right now. There might be a little bit of difference between your shade and my shade. It is completely fine whenever we are working with gouache colors. Just make sure that you create a good composition of color and water together. Make sure that there is no axis amount of water in the mixture that you're creating right now. Because it will decrease the saturation and you won't get a beautiful matt finish. Once you're done with the gray shade, just simply take it in your flat brush and start applying just above the horizon line. It's a very simple horizontal movement. And slowly I'll be moving towards the above portion. As you move towards the above portion, you can completely cover the entire surface. You're going to have some solid black color on the top portion, but it is absolutely fine. You can cover the entire surface with gray color because it is a little bit wet right now. To make the gray shade a little bit lighter, what I'm going to do is I'm going to add some solid white color in the same mixture. And mix it well, you'll get a light gray shade. As you can observe, you can observe the way I'm mixing the color. Now we are going to again, apply a nice gray coat on the entire surface, which is a little bit lighter than the first one. Again, I'll be applying a simple horizontal stroke just above the horizon line. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there is no space left in between. The more horizontal strokes you apply, the better blend of the color you'll get. Also, you'll find a nice matt finish when the entire color dries up. Now I'm very much satisfied with the entire gray coat that we have created. The color is a little bit wet Right now, we'll be applying the solid black color on the topmost portion. So now, once we are done applying the entire gray coat, what we are going to do is we're going to apply a beautiful solid black color on the topmost portion, I'll be just taking a little bit of water in the color palette, and I was already having some solid black color. You can loosen the color up if your color is completely dry in your color palette, it will definitely work. Now we're going to apply a nice coat of solid black color in the topmost portion. And you can observe the way I'm moving my flat brush. There is a line of suppreation right now in between the gray shade and the solid black color, which will definitely disappear when we blend both the colors together slowly. You can move your flat brush towards the bottom area. Now you can observe that there is a thin line of suppression between both the colors. Now to get a nice, smooth blend between both the colors, what we are going to do is simply dab your brush onto the tissue paper, make it a little bit dry, and slowly move your brush towards the bottom area. Or you can place it in between both the colors. Just apply as many as horizontal strokes as you can. And you will observe a beautiful blend between the gray color and the solid black color that we applied in the above portion. We are done with the entire sky area. Let the background dry for a while. Now let's paint the water body as well. Going to be a very simple and easy technique. We're going to take some solid black color in the color palette. Make a good combination of water and color together. Make sure that you do not have axis amount of water in your brush. In case you are having axis amount of water in your brush, just simply dab it onto the tissue paper. Now I'm going to paint a beautiful water body. I'll be taking some solid black color in my flatbrush of size seven. Only you can simply observe the way I'm holding my flat brush to paint just below the horizon line in an accurate manner. You can hold your flatbrush in this manner. Then you can use its entire surface to apply solid black color on the above portion. Again, it's a very simple horizontal movement. No need to hurry at all. Take your time and paint it carefully. Right now, you might feel that it is a very dark black color for the water body. But it will slowly dilute when we add a beautiful gray shade in the bottom portion. Now if you find that there is axis amount of water on the coaster where you have applied the color, you can simply dab your flat brush onto the tissue paper and you can reapply the horizontal strokes on the entire coaster, so that axis amount of water will be removed. Now in the same color palette, we are already having some beautiful shades of gray together. I'll be adding a little bit of water using the same flat brush, and we get another shade of gray because my brush was already having some black color in it. And it is absolutely fine, so you don't have to worry about getting an exact shade that I have created. Your shade might vary a little bit then mine, but it is absolutely fine. We are going to apply this particular gray shade on the bottom portion. No need to hurry at all. Cover the area in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there is no space left on the entire coaster because it will not look nice when the entire background rise. You can use the tip of your flat brush to paint in difficult areas. Right now, you can observe a line of suppression between solid black color and the gray color. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply and move towards the upper portion, the better blend you'll get of the entire water body. You can observe we get a nice solid black color on the topmost portion. As you move towards the bottom area, there is a gray shade, which is also a little bit darker. But there is a difference. It creates a beautiful gradient effect. Now, let the water body dry for a while, but as you can observe, the entire surface is a little bit wet. I'll be taking my round brush of size zero and we're going to create some nice waves in the entire water body will create a beautiful depth and detail. What I'm going to do is I'm going to add a little bit of water in the solid white color, in my color palette. And we're going to add some beautiful horizontal line on the entire surface. It's basically a very simple and easy technique of painting a water body to create some nice depth and detail, Take some good amount of solid white color and just randomly apply these horizontal strokes on the entire surface. As you all know that waves are generally found in a very natural and organic manner. In nature, there is no specific way of painting them. You can create your own composition of the horizontal strokes that I'm painting right now. No need to worry about applying it in the exact same position where I'm applying the horizontal strokes. If you want to paint it in an accurate manner, you can create a combination of two to three strokes together. You can have a difference in sizes as well. Also, in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the water body directly towards your final coaster, What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. Now I'll be using my same flat brush of size seven, make it completely clean in water. And we are going to make it completely dry by dabbing it onto the tissue paper. The background surface is a little bit wet already and we are going to blend these little white strokes with the background, just completely make it dry by dabbing it onto the tissue paper. Now reapply these horizontal strokes on the entire surface. You'll slowly observe that the white lines that we painted will get a little bit less saturation. And it will get a nice blend with the background color. This is how we create a beautiful water body. You can observe that we are done with the sky area having a beautiful gradient effect and the water body as well. Now let us move towards the next element, which is painting some beautiful clouds in the sky area. It's a very simple and easy technique. I'll be using my round brush of size three. Take some good amount of solid white color from the color palette. And we're going to apply these little horizontal strokes combining together. So you can have a difference in the size and shape of the horizontal strokes. No need to worry about perfection. You just have to combine these little horizontal strokes together, forming a beautiful cluster of cloud in the sky area. As you all know that clouds generally have a very natural and organic shape, there is no specific way of painting them. You can create your own composition of the entire cloud as well. You can decide the position, shape, and size of the clouds as well. Right now, you might not find these strokes very much perfect. And it looks a little bit rough and random. But we are going to blend it with the background color. No need to worry about that. You can observe that I've added a small cluster of clouds on the bottom portion as well. Now simply take your round brush again and make it completely clean in water. Now this time you have to take a little bit of water in your round brush and then we are going to apply the brush around the strokes that we have made. The brush basically consists of a little bit of water this time and no color. You can observe carefully the way we apply the brush on the outline of these strokes. The entire cloud becomes a little bit more smoother and it blends with the background. In case you find that your brush is getting a little bit dry, you can take some more amount of water. No need to hurry at all. Try to repeat the step and observe the movement of my round brush carefully. Oh, now you can observe how beautiful the entire cloud looks from the initial horizontal strokes that we make. Similarly, we are going to smooth the cloud on the bottom portion as well. The step is absolutely same. In case you find that there is no water left in your brush, you can take a little bit of water from the cup as well. Now you can observe how beautiful the entire cloud looks with the beautiful gradient background that we have created. As I find that my round brush is getting a little bit dry, I can take some good amount of water from the cup and we can smooth the edges in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the clouds directly towards your gradient background. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less so. As you can observe, we are done with the clouds. I hope that you've got an exact idea of how we have to paint the clouds in the sky area. Now let us move towards the next element which is going to be a beautiful iceberg, which we are going to paint just above the horizon line. I'll be taking my round rush of size zero and we're going to take some solid white color in the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to make a good combination of color and water together. You can add a little bit of gray shade into the solid white color to make the saturation of the color a little bit low. Before we start painting, we can use a simple pencil to draw the shape of the entire iceberg so that you can get an exact idea where to paint. The line might not be that much visible, but it is absolutely fine. You can just draw it for your reference in case you want to draw the outline using your detailing brush. That is also completely fine. Now I'll be using my round brush of size zero and slowly paint the entire surface using this solid white color. You will observe that as we cover the entire area using this particular color, the texture will automatically form. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the color in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there is no space left in between. In case you find that your brush is getting finished with color, you can take some more color from the color palette. Be a little bit careful near the horizon line. Use the tip of your round brush to apply the color. Right now we have applied a solid white coat to the entire iceberg. We're also going to create some nice depth and detail. Apart from this huge iceberg that we have painted, we are also having a small iceberg just on the left hand portion as well. I'll be adding a little bit of water into the color palette so that the color can move a little bit smoother. Similarly, I have painted another iceberg which is a little bit smaller than the first one. Actually, it's very smaller than the first one. Now you can observe a good composition of both the icebergs. Now to create a beautiful texture, you just have to use the tip of your round brush. And apply. These little strokes, start from the top portion and cover the entire area. Let me tell you one thing that no need to worry about creating the texture or painting it in the exact same way I have painted right now. In fact, you can create your own composition of the icebergs as well. You can play with the shape and sizes. You can also decide the position of the iceberg. Now to create a beautiful contrast with solid white color, I'll be taking some more solid white color in my round brush. And you can observe I'm just applying these little patches which are basically creating some rough texture on the entire iceberg. For creating this beautiful texture, you must be having very less water in your brush in case you want to practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially and then come towards your final coaster would be really great. It will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now you can observe that we are almost done with both the icebergs. Now let us create some depth and details. I'll be taking some darker tone of a gray shade. Basically, I'll be using my round brush of size zero. No need to hurry at all. The steps and method is absolutely same. You just have to create these little rough patches on the entire iceberg, leaving some space in between. You can already observe a beautiful texture which creates some nice depth and details to the entire iceberg. If you want to use a size three brush, basically a round brush of size three, that is also completely fine. If you want to use a round brush of size zero, it will also completely work wherever you want to make little strokes, you can go for a round brush of size zero. Wherever you want to make a bigger texture, you can definitely use your round brush of size three. Now you can observe I'm adding a little bit of texture on the smaller iceberg as well. Using the tip of my round brush, there is a very small area to paint. That's why I'm using my round brush of size zero. Trust me, creating this beautiful texture is really interesting and it's also really fun. And just make sure that you apply these strokes in your own natural way. And do not worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. Just simply move it in a very random and rough manner. Now in order to make the entire iceberg look a little bit more realistic and in depth, what I'm going to do is I'm going to create its reflection effect onto the water body. I'll be taking a nice shade of gray from the color palette. Just add a little bit of water and make these horizontal strokes just below the entire iceberg. Now as you move towards the bottom area, you can simply decrease the size of the horizontal strokes that you're making. While creating these horizontal strokes, just try to keep your hand very much loose and free. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner and you'll observe a beautiful reflection effect of the icebergs onto the water body. We are done with the icebergs. Now let us paint some beautiful rock bodies which are going to be in solid black color. Again, I'll be taking my round rush of size zero in the color palette. You can already observe I'm having some solid black color. Now using the tip of my round rush, I'm going to create the outline first. This particular rock body is going to cover some portion of the iceberg that we painted. You have to keep the outline overlapping the iceberg in case you want to draw the outline using a pencil first. And then your solid black wash color, that is also completely fine in case you want to draw it directly using your brush. It is also absolutely suitable. Now once you're done with the outline and you're satisfied with the outline, you can fill in solid black color in the inner portion. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. Just make sure that there is no space left in between. Take some good amount of solid black color in case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. In case you find that your color is a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water. Mix it well in the color palette. Make a good composition of color and water together. Be a little bit careful near the horizon line and use the tip of your round brush to paint in smaller portions in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the rock bodies directly towards your final coaster. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help your lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now, I'll be creating the reflection effect of the rock body as well. I'll be taking some solid black color again and start applying these horizontal strokes just below the. Rock body that we have painted. As you move towards the bottom portion, you can definitely decrease the size of the horizontal strokes. We are done painting the rock body on the right hand side. Similarly, we are going to add few more rock bodies. We are adding one more rock body on the left hand side. The steps are absolutely same. I have created the outline first. It is absolutely fine. You can create your own composition of the entire rock body as well. Once you're done with the entire outline, just simply fill in solid black color in the inner portion. In case you find that your brush is moving a little bit rough on the entire surface, you can add a little bit of water. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there is no space left on the entire surface now. Similarly to create some depth, you can add these little horizontal strokes just below the rock body that we have painted right now. Now, apart from these two rock bodies, we are also going to have some small solid black rock bodies in the water area. I'll be taking some solid black color again and again. We are going to create the outline first, so you can just randomly create an organic shape of the rock body. No need to worry at all. You can create your own organic shape as well. You have to just fill in solid black color in the inner portion. As you all know that rock bodies, mountains, icebergs, generally have a very natural and organic shape. There is no specific way of painting them. You can create your own natural shape as well. You can decide the position. You can play with the shape and size as well. It would be really great if you tried to explore and create your own scenery as well. Now, once we have painted the entire rock body, we can also create its reflection effect by adding some horizontal lines just below the entire rock body. This basically creates an ice shadow effect. The entire rock body looks a little bit more in detail and depth, so we are done with the rock body in the water area as well. Now let us make some beautiful golden color to create a nice contrast and enhance all the solid black rock bodies that we have painted. So I'll be taking my metallic powder. Take a little bit of metallic powder in your color palette using your round brush of size zero. We're going to add a little bit of water and glue to make it in a liquid form. Combining these three elements together, we get a nice golden color in a liquid form basically. Now again, I'll be taking my round rush of size zero and we're going to take some amount of water. Now, mix all the three elements together in a nice way. Now, once all the elements are mixed in an nice way, you can check its application on a rough scrape of paper so that you get an exact idea whether you have created the golden color in a nice manner or not. In case you want to use a liquid golden color directly, that is also completely fine. In case you want to keep the solid black rock bodies as it is, that is also completely fine. Now I'll be using my round rush and we're going to create some beautiful texture on the solid black color that we have created for the rock body. We are not going to apply the golden color on the entire surface, we're just going to enhance it on the edges. This particular step makes the entire rock body look very much elegant and the coaster will enhance aesthetically. Also, you can observe the way I'm moving my round brush, It's a very random and natural movement. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. You just have to create this natural texture on the edges in case you find that your color is getting finished. From the brush, you can take some more color. You can also observe the way I'm using the tip of my round brush to have a very small texture. Now we are simply going to repeat the same step and enhance all the solid black rock bodies that we have painted. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. Try to keep your hand very much free and lose. We have added a beautiful golden texture on both the solid black rock bodies. Similarly, we're going to add some golden texture on the small rock body that we painted in the water area as well. Just add the texture on the topmost portion using the tip of your round brush carefully. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. I'm very sure that you're definitely going to enjoy this particular step as it creates a lot of elegance to the entire coaster. In case you are not that much confident enough to apply the texture directly towards your final coaster, what you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final coaster. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now comes the last element of the entire coaster, which is painting a beautiful moon in the sky area. I'll be using my round brush of size zero. Take some good amount of solid white color in the color palette, add a little bit of water and make a good composition of water and color together. Now simply, we are going to use the tip of the round brush and we're just going to paint a circular shape. No need to hurry at all, since it's a very small area to paint. Try to paint it with a lot of patients, and try to get a nice, perfect, circular shape. We are done with the entire coaster. Now let me take you a little bit so that you can observe all the details carefully. You can observe that how combining some minimal elements together we can create a beautiful, elegant coaster. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular coaster and got to learn something new. Now let us move toward the next class project. 11. Project 4 - Classic River: Everybody, you're most welcome to the fourth class project, which is a classic river. As you can observe. I'm ready with all my art supplies nearby and the coaster as well. We're going to start with the first step, which is applying a thin coat of water. On the entire coaster, I'll be using my flat brush of size seven. It will take a little bit of efforts to apply a thin coat of water on the entire surface. Since it's a solid, hard surface, no need to hurry at all. Try to apply an even coat of water on the entire surface of the coaster. Make sure that you do not leave any space on the entire coaster. Now, this is basically known as a wet on wet technique, in which we apply a thin coat of water initially. And then the color so that the colors can blend in a nice way. You can observe that I have covered the entire coaster with a thin coat of water. In case you find that you have applied axis amount of water on the entire coaster, what you can do is you can simply dab your brush to the tissue paper and then you can reapply the brush on the entire surface. This will remove axis amount of water. Now let the water settle for a while and we are going to make the color ready. For this particular class project, we are going to use olive green poster color. A poster color is a very good substitute for wash colors. You can use a wash color as well. There won't be any major difference. You'll get a beautiful matt finish using a poster color as well. I'll be taking some good saturation of olive green color in the color palette and we're going to create a nice combination of water and color together. Since there is a good surface to apply, we are just going to take our same flat brush of size seven. I'm going to start applying the color from the bottom portion, you can observe it's a very simple horizontal movement of the brush. And I'm going to move towards the above portion slowly. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply an even coat of color. You can observe that slowly, I'm moving towards the above portion as well. In case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. We have applied the color in the 34 portion of the entire coaster. Now slowly, I'll be moving towards the above portion as well. Now the reason behind applying a thin coat of water initially is you can observe how smoothly our brush is moving on the entire surface. Now on the topmost portion, we are going to have some solid black color. But right now you can cover it with olive green color. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply to the entire coaster, the better smooth matt finish you'll get. Once the entire color dries up, you can observe I have covered the entire coaster with olive green color. Now I'll be taking some solid black color in my flat brush of size seven only, and we're going to apply it on the topmost portion. You can definitely take your time to cover the entire coaster with olive green color unless you're satisfied with the output. Now I'll be taking some solid black color in the color palette. Was already having some solid black color. You can just add a little bit of water to loosen the color up. It is absolutely fine. In case you do not have minimum amount of color, you can definitely take some more color from the washtub. Now slowly start applying the color from the topmost portion and move towards the bottom area. You can observe a simple line of suppression between both the colors. Simply dab your brush to the tissue paper and reapply the horizontal strokes again, now slowly again apply the horizontal strokes. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get. I want a little bit darker shade on the topmost portion. I'll take some more solid black color and I'll apply it on the topmost portion. Now simply clean your flat brush. Make it completely clean in water. And then we are going to make it completely dry by dabbing it onto the tissue paper. Dab your brush carefully onto the tissue paper and make sure that it is completely dry. And then reapply these horizontal strokes between the olive green color and the solid black color. Now the more horizontal strokes you'll apply in between, the better blend you'll get in both the colors. Now slowly you can observe that the line of separation will vanish and you'll get a beautiful gradient effect. In case you want to add a little bit of olive green color in between, you can definitely take it from the color palette. This is basically a very simple and easy technique of creating a gradient effect. No need to worry at all in case you have a minor difference between the shades that I have created. On the topmost portion, it is absolutely fine. Now, let the background dry for a while. Once the background is dried, you'll get a beautiful matt finish of the gradient sky that we have created. Now let us move towards the next element which is painting a beautiful cloud. We are basically going to create a beautiful cluster of clouds in the sky area. I'll be taking my round brush of size three in the color palette you can observe carefully. I'll just add a little bit of olive green color to make the solid white color a little bit dull. And we're going to take some good amount of solid white color in the round brush of size three. Now, slowly start applying these little horizontal strokes in the sky area. As you all know that clouds generally have a very natural and organic shape, there is no specific way of painting them. You can definitely create your own composition of the entire cloud as well. You can play with the shape and size. You can decide the position of the clouds as well. Right now, you can observe that I'm combining these little horizontal strokes together to form a beautiful cluster of clouds on the right hand side. Slowly, I'm moving towards the left hand side as well, decreasing the size of the strokes that I'm making. As I said, there is no specific way of applying these horizontal strokes. You can randomly apply them in whatever manner you want to, No need to worry about perfection. One thing that I would like to tell you is that right now, you can observe that these strokes are very sharp and we want to make it a little bit smoother. So we are going to blend it with the background. There is going to be a very simple and easy technique that we're going to use. You have to take your round rush of size three, make it completely clean in water, then dab it onto the tissue paper, try to have a little bit of water in it, and just reapply it on the outer surface of the clouds that we have painted. You just have to observe the movement of my round rush. I'm just making a nice blend of the clouds with the background color so that it becomes very much smoother and the sharp edges become completely smooth. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. Take your time. So you can observe carefully that using a simple technique, we have created all the clouds in a smooth manner. Now these strokes does not look very much rough and sharp. Right now, I have painted a cluster of clouds on the right hand side, only in case you want to experiment and add few more clouds in the entire sky area, that is completely fine. In case you want to experiment with the shape and size of the clouds, that is also absolutely okay. In case you're not that much confident enough to paint the clouds directly towards your final coaster, what you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final coaster, so that the chances of making mistakes will be very less and you'll definitely have a lot of confidence while painting. Now, once we are done with the clouds, we are moving towards the next element which is going to be a beautiful snow hill. I'll be using a simple pencil to draw the outline of the hill first so that we can get a nice reference where to paint it in case you want to draw the outline using your detailing brush. That is also completely fine. I have drawn the outline using a simple pencil. I'll be using my round brush of size three, and we are going to take some solid white color in the color palette. We are going to paint the entire snowy hill with solid white color. Take some good amount of solid white color in the color palette, try to make a good composition of water and color together, mix it well. Now, once you are done taking the color in the color palette, in case you want to check it onto your rough scrape of paper and its application, That is completely fine or else you want to apply directly towards your coaster. That also works. All right, I'm ready with my solid white color in the color palette. Now we are going to start by applying a nice solid white. You can start with the outline. You can take the pencil line as reference for the entire snow hill. No need to hurry at all. Try to use the tip of your round brush to paint in the outline first. Now you can observe that we are done with the outline, so we're going to cover the entire with solid white color, which basically replicates a lot of snow. You can simply observe the movement of my round brush and the way I'm making these little strokes to cover the entire area. This time we are not having a very big snowy hill, we are just having a small snowy hill which is very far in the entire scenery. You can take a little bit more color from the color palette in case you find that your color is getting finished. In case you find that you have axis amount of water in your brush, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper so that axis amount of water will be removed and your brush will move smoothly on the entire surface of the coaster. Right now we have covered the entire snowy hill with solid white color. We're also going to create a beautiful texture. I'll be taking some gray shade from the color palette. For that, what you have to do is just add a little bit white color in the solid black color, you'll get a beautiful gray shade. Now one thing that I would like to remind you is that no need to worry about getting the exact shade that I'm creating right now. There might be a little bit of difference between your shade and my shade. It is absolutely okay because what happens is that the amount of color that we mix will be definitely different. No need to worry about accuracy. We are basically using a gray shade to create some nice depth and details to the entire snowy hill. I'm starting from the topmost portion and you can observe I'm just creating these little patches on the entire surface, no need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. You can observe that I'm adding this beautiful texture on the right hand side of both the hills that we have painted so that we can create some nice depth and we can also show some light and shadow effect in the color palette. I'm adding a little bit of water to loosen the color up so that the color can move a little bit smoother on the entire surface. You can use the tip of your round brush to add these beautiful details. In case you want to use your size zero round brush, that is also completely fine. You can simply repeat the same steps to add some minor details to the entire snowy hill, which is creating this beautiful texture. Now, once we are done adding the texture and details in the right hand portion, you can similarly add some more texture on the left hand side as well, to make the snowy hill look a little bit more attractive and aesthetic. The steps are absolutely same, you just have to apply the patches in a very random way. I personally feel that we have added a lot of texture because of which the entire hill is not looking that snowy. You can take some more solid white color from the color palette and just apply the solid white color on the left hand portion of the entire hill so that we can, again, make it a little bit more snowy. No need to worry about this particular thing. You can definitely cover it up. This is one of the most great things about gas colors. You can do this particular thing also in case you're not that much confident enough to paint the snowy hill directly towards your beautiful gradient background. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. I'm adding some more solid white color for the smaller hill as well, applying a little bit of texture, we are done with the entire snowy hill. Now let us move towards the next element, which is going to be some solid black mountains in the foreground. Again, it's going to be a very simple and easy technique. I'll be taking some solid black color in the color palette, and we're going to use our round brush of size three. No need to hurry at all. Try to make a good composition of color and water together. Whenever you're mixing a color with water, always make sure that you have more amount of color and less water. Because if you have more amount of water, then the color saturation will definitely decrease. Now I'll be taking my round brush of size zero to create the outline of the mountains that we are going to paint in the foreground in case you want to create the outline using a pencil. And then you want to use your solid black color, that is completely fine. And in case you want to use your brush directly, that is also absolutely okay. I'll be using the tip of my round brush and I'll be starting from the left hand portion and slowly I'll move towards the right hand side. We are not having a lot of variation in the mountains in the foreground. It's a very simple altitude difference. You can observe the way I'm using the tip of my round brush. I have covered the bottom portion of the entire snow hill that it makes the snowy mountain look a little bit far from the entire scenery. Now I'm slowly moving towards the right hand side and you can observe that I have not created a lot of variation in the altitude of the mountains that we have created using solid black color. Now once we are done with the outline, we're going to add a beautiful river. In the bottom portion, you can just add a horizontal line having a little bit of variation. You can use the tip of your round brush carefully. Similarly, we are going to add few more lines, creating some nice variation in the entire river. In case you find that your color is a little bit dry, you can add a little bit of water. You can observe I have added one more horizontal line, having a little bit of variation now. Similarly, we are going to add few more lines which will help us to give a nice river movement. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. We have created a nice landscape area in the bottom part. Now similarly, I'll be adding a few more strokes in the right inside as well, we are done with all the horizontal lines creating a beautiful river. In between remaining portion is going to be completely solid black. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take my round brush of size three and I'm going to take some good amount of solid black color in the color palette, since we will need a little bit of more color, Since the area that we are going to cover is a little bit bigger. You can observe I'm starting from the left hand portion. You can observe the movement of my round brush. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. We are going to slowly cover the entire area. Just simply make sure that you do not paint the entire river area, which is going to be completely olive green. So as you can observe, we are done painting the entire solid black color in the mountains and the landscape that we have created in the bottom portion. Now I'll be using my round rush of size zero and I'm going to add a little bit of landscape area in the river as well. You just have to create these little two black patches. Similarly, you can add a little bit of landscape area on the right hand side as well. You can use the tip of your round brush applying very less pressure on it. We are done painting the landscape area as well. Now let the solid black color dry for a while and let us enhance the entire river. I'll be taking my round brush of size zero and I've taken some solid white color in it. You just have to apply it on the outline of the entire river. By creating these little horizontal strokes, you can apply it leaving some space in between. That is absolutely fine, because we are just enhancing the entire river area. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner in case you're not that much confident enough to apply these little strokes directly towards your final coaster. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help your lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now we are going to create some beautiful lights in the solid black background, which creates some nice aesthetic to the entire coaster. Again, it's going to be a very simple and easy technique. You just have to take some solid white color from the color palette and you have to apply these little white dots on the solid black mountain body. It's basically present on the landscape area, only representing some beautiful city lights which are very far in the entire landscape. So you can create a combination of three to four dots together, or five to six dots together. You can decrease the size of the solid white dots by applying very less pressure on it. You can simply observe the way I'm using my detailing brush. We are trying to create a beautiful city area on the entire landscape portion. No need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I am painting right now. You can create your own combination of solid white dots as well. You can create your own composition by deciding the position of the solid white dots that I'm painting right now. You can also observe a beautiful contrast of these solid white dots with the solid black background. You can also experiment with the light colors in case you want to go with a yellow color that also works with a solid black background. You're absolutely free to explore. Now using the same solid white color, we are going to paint a beautiful moon in the sky area. It's going to be a simple crescent moon. I'll be just taking my round rush of S zero. Take some good amount of solid white color in it, and just paint a small curved shape. Try to keep the ends pointed and the middle body a little bit thicker. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner, and we are done with the entire coaster. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular coaster and got to learn something new. Let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. You can observe how beautifully we have combined all the minimal elements together to form a beautiful landscape. Now let us move towards the next class project. 12. Project 5 - Stylish Snow Hills: Everybody, you're most welcome to the final and the last class project, which is stylish snow hills. As you can observe, I'm ready with my coaster and all the art supplies nearby. I'll be using a simple pencil to suppret the sky area and the water body. It's a very simple and easy step. You just have to take your simple pencil and draw a simple horizontal line on the entire coaster. You can decide the position of the horizontal line according to your convenience. Now using the same pencil, we're going to create some mountains in the front area and we are going to have two beautiful snow hills in the background. You can carefully observe that I've created a little bit of variation on the entire mountains that we have created just above the horizon line. Similarly, we are going to have two beautiful snow hills, which are going to be a little bit huge. As you all know that mountains generally have a very natural and organic shape. There is no specific way of painting them. You can create your own composition of the mountains as well. To create some noise, depth, and detail to the entire snow hill, we are going to create a line of suppression in between so you can observe carefully. I've just drawn a zigzag line in between. And similarly, we'll add one more line which is basically creating two different snow hills. No need to hurry at all in case you want to practice a rough sketch initially on a rough scrape of paper first, and then you want to come towards your final coaster, it is completely fine. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while drawing, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. I've done a little bit of mistake. I've drawn the sketch initially, but I forgot that we are going to apply a nice gradient background in the sky area. The entire sketch might get completely covered with the coat that we're going to apply, but it is absolutely fine. We can draw the entire sketch again. No need to worry about that. Now, I'll be taking my flat brush of size seven and we're going to apply a thin coat of water on the entire surface. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply an even coat of water on the entire surface of the coaster. It might take a little bit of time for the coaster to observe some water. Just have a little bit of patience and try to apply an even coat. Make sure that you do not leave any space in the entire sky area right now. We are just going to paint the sky area. That's why we have applied a thin coat of water just above the horizon line. The reason behind applying a thin coat of water initially is so that the colors can blend in a very nice and smooth manner. This is also known as a wet on wet technique. As you can observe, I was already having some good amount of gray shade in my color palette. We can increase it by adding some more black and white color in the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to make a good composition of water and color together whenever we want to have a good saturated color. Make sure that you have less amount of water and more color in the color palette. I'll be mixing the color in a nice way. I personally feel that the gray shade is a little bit lighter. I'll be adding a little bit of black color to make it a little bit darker. Right now, you can observe that we get another gray shade by mixing the colors well in the color palette. It is important to mix both the pigments in a nice way so that we can get a nice saturated matte finish when the entire color dries up. Now if you want to check the application of the color on a rough scrape of paper, you can just apply a little bit of patch. I guess we are good to go with this particular gray shade. Now we are going to start applying this particular shade just above the horizon line. No need to hurry at all. Just observe the movement of my flat brush. It is going to be a simple horizontal movement. I have applied it just above the horizon line and slowly we'll move towards the above portion. As I said, that the sketch that we created will be completely gone once we apply this radiant effect on the entire sky area. But no need to worry at all. Once the entire background dries, we are going to draw the sketch again. It is completely okay. As you can observe, I have covered a certain area on the entire coaster. Now I'll be taking a little bit of white color to make this particular gray shade a little bit lighter. No need to hurry at all. Try to mix your color well in the color palette. And I'll again apply another horizontal coat, just above the horizon line to make the gray shade a little bit lighter. Then slowly, I'll be moving towards the above portion covering the entire coaster. Make sure that you do not leave any space in between and just try to apply a nice coat of color. As you can observe, we have created a beautiful even coat of a gray shade in the sky area. Now we are going to have a darker tone on the topmost portion, which is going to be created by using a solid black wash color. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply on the surface of the coaster, the better blend and the better matte finish, you'll get the entire color dries up in my color palette. I'm already having some good amount of solid black color, but I'll add a little bit of color from the gh tub and you can make a good composition of color and water together and start applying it on the topmost portion. Slowly move towards the bottom area. You can observe the way I'm moving my brush. It's a very simple horizontal movement. Right now, you might observe a line of suppression between both the shades. We are going to blend them together and it's going to be a very simple and easy technique. You just have to clean your flat brush in clear water. And we are going to make the flat brush completely dry by dabbing it onto the tissue paper. While you dab the brush onto the tissue paper, make sure that it does not have any water in it. Now, once your flat brush is completely dry, we are going to reapply the horizontal strokes between the two pigments that we have applied. Now slowly, you'll observe that both the colors will get a very nice blend together and the line of suppreation will be completely vanished. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply, the better blend you'll get for the gradient effect. Now, let the background dry for a while. Let us paint the water body. I'll be taking some solid black color. Again, in the flat brush, we are already having some good amount of solid black color. You can just add a little bit of water to loosen the color up. Now. Similarly, we are going to create a gradient effect in the water body as well. I'll be taking some good amount of solid black color in my flat brush of size seven. Now this time we're going to apply the color just below the horizon line. You can simply observe the movement of my flat brush. No need to hurry at all. You can use the tip of your flat brush and you can observe the way I'm holding the brush to apply the color just below the horizon line. This time, they are not applying a thin coat of water. We can directly apply the color towards the entire surface. This is basically known as a wet on dry technique. It is also completely fine. You can add a little bit of water to loosen the color. Now I'll add a little bit of water in the color palette and make a nice gray shade. You can observe we are already having a beautiful gray shade in the color palette. You just have to take a little bit of water in your flat brush and mix the color. Well, now we're going to apply the color in the bottom portion. I'll be just making the horizontal strokes only as you can observe, we are covering the bottom portion first and slowly we'll move towards the above area, blending both the colors together. You can keep one thing in mind whenever you want to create a beautiful gradient effect. The more horizontal strokes you'll apply in between the two pigments, the better blend you'll get. You can already observe a beautiful blend between the solid black color and the gray shape that we applied in the bottom portion. Now let the water body dry for a while. You can observe that the sky area and the water body is completely dry. Right now, I'll be using my round brush of size zero and we're going to take some nice shade of gray. You can also take a solid white color as well. We're going to create these little horizontal lines into the water body. We are basically trying to create a nice depth in the entire water body. These horizontal strokes basically replicates a nice wave form in the entire water body. You might feel that the strokes are very sharp and in contrast with the background color, but no need to worry about them. We are going to blend it with the background color and the strokes will look really amazing and abstract. I personally love this quality of gage colors in which you can blend the colors in a very nice way. So as you all know, that water body is also in a very natural and organic form. So there is no specific way of painting it, no need to worry about getting the horizontal strokes in the exact same way I'm painting right now. You can decide the position of two to three strokes together wherever you want to. In fact, you can do it according to your convenience. Also, in case you want to create some beautiful variation in the horizontal strokes by creating a wavy form, you can do that as well. All right, I think I have applied enough horizontal strokes. Now what I'm going to do is that I'm going to take my flat brush of size seven, make it completely clean in water, and simply dab it onto the tissue paper. Make sure that your flat brush is completely clean. Now, make it completely dry by dabbing it onto the tissue paper and we are going to reapply the horizontal strokes on the entire water body area. You can observe that slowly, all the horizontal strokes will get a nice blend with the background color and the sharpness and contrast of all the horizontal strokes will get a little bit decreased. Now you can observe a beautiful abstract form of the waves in the entire water body. I hope that you've got an exact idea of how to create a beautiful abstract water body. And it's a very simple and easy technique in case you are not that much confident enough to create this particular effect directly towards your final coaster. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrap of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence while painting, and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. Now let us move towards the next element, which is going to be some beautiful clouds in the sky area. I'll be using my same brush of size zero. I'll be taking a nice shade of gray from the color palette. Also, one more thing I would like to remind you all is that no need to worry about the difference in the shades. There might be a little bit of difference in your shade and my shade that I'm creating in the color palette. No need to worry about that. It is completely fine. In fact, you can create your own shades as well. Now, using my round brush of size zero, I'm going to create these little horizontal strokes in a very random. And There is no specific way of painting them, as you all know that clouds generally have a very natural and organic shape. In fact, you will find it in a very abstract form in the sky. You can observe that I'm just combining these little horizontal strokes together, forming a beautiful cluster of clouds in the sky area. Right now, you might feel that these strokes are very much sharp and it does not look that great. It creates a very strong contrast with the background color, but no need to worry about them. We are going to blend the clouds with the background color so that it looks a little bit soft and becomes very much smooth in the sky area. To do that, you just have to simply take a little bit of water in your round brush, make it completely clean, and then simply apply it around. The horizontal strokes that we have created, you will slowly observe that the edge of the clouds, that is very much sharp, will get a little bit smoother. You just have to simply rub your brush around the entire surface and you'll find that you create a beautiful, smooth surface of the entire cloud. And the cloud will look a little bit less in contrast with the background. So I hope that you've got an exact idea of how to paint the clouds. Now let us move towards the next element, which is going to be the mountains and the snowy hill that we are going to paint. Now I'll be using my pencil again to draw a basic rough sketch, to know the position of the solid black mountains that we are going to paint, and the snowy white hills you can observe. I have created a little bit of variation in the front portion, just above the horizon line, which are going to be solid black mountains. Similarly, we are going to draw the snow hills in the background as well. The snow hills are going to be a little bit bigger. I'll be just using my pencil, and I'm starting from the topmost portion, trying to draw a snowy hill. As you all know that mountains generally have a very natural and organic shape in the nature. There is no specific way of drawing them in case you want to create your own composition of the mountains. It is completely fine. You can play with the shape and sizes of the mountains as well. You can simply decide the position of the mountains. And you can also create your own landscape as well as you can observe. We are done with the entire sketch. Now we are going to paint it using some solid white color. Let us start with the snowy hill first. I'll be taking my round brush of size three. We're going to take a nice shade of solid white color and gray together. You can already observe it in my color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to make a good composition of color and water together. It's going to be a very simple and easy technique. We're going to use the tip of the round rush to paint in smaller areas. I'm basically going to start applying the color from the right hand side. We have a small line of separation in both the hills. You can just apply it on the outline initially. No need to hurry at all. Try to use the tip of your round brush carefully. Now slowly you can move towards the bottom portion. Similarly, we are going to create the outline which is on the complete right side as well. You can create some variation using the tip of your round brush. We're done with the outline, now we are going to fill in solid white color in the inner portion. So take some good amount of color from the color palette and apply it on the entire surface. No need to hurry at all. Make sure that you do not leave any space in between. We are slowly going to cover the entire area. No need to worry at all. It is not going to be a solid white patch. We are going to create some nice texture in the entire surface. If you might have observed a snow hill carefully, there is always a little bit of light gray shade and you'll find a lot of texture in it. We are going to create it using the same brush only, but the initial step is to apply even coat of solid white color. Now similarly, we are going to add this solid white color in the smaller hill as well, which is present on the left hand side. But before that, let me explain to you how you have to create a beautiful texture on the entire surface. It's a very simple and easy technique. Take some good amount of solid white color from the color palette and just simply dab your brush on the entire surface in a very random and natural manner. There is no specific method of applying your brush. You can simply observe carefully that I'm just randomly moving my brush on the entire surface, It basically creates these small white patches. And it creates a contrast with the gray shade. Also, no need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. Similarly, we are going to add this solid white patch on the hill that is present on the left hand side as well. We are done adding a beautiful solid white color in the smaller snowy hill as well. Now I'm going to create a beautiful gray shade. Adding a little bit of gray color from the color palette to the solid white color. Now we're going to apply it on the left hand side of both the hills. As you can observe, it creates a nice suppression and it also creates some beautiful depth. We are basically going to use the same brush, which is of size three, in case you want to go for a round brush of size zero, that is also completely fine. You can observe a different gray shade that I'm applying on the left hand side, leaving some space in between. So these are basically small patches that I'm trying to create using my round brush. Now you just have to simply follow the steps and cover the entire area. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. Now, similarly, we are going to create this beautiful grey texture to the smaller snowy hill as well. The steps are absolutely same, you just have to take a nice gray shade. Apply these little patches on the entire left portion of the smaller hill. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner. You have to simply cover the entire area, leaving some space in between, and create these little patches. Right now, you can observe two different types of textures that we have created. One is a solid white one, another one is a little bit grayish. Now to create a little bit of depth and detail, you can use your same round brush of size three. Or in case you want to go for a round brush of size zero, it is absolutely fine, and you can create these little gray shades and texture in the solid white portion as well. This basically enhances the entire Snowy Mountain and creates some nice depth and details in case you want to add a little bit of solid black color to make the tones a little bit darker. That is also absolutely fine. It is a experiment that you can do. One thing that I would like to tell you is that no need to worry about getting the exact shade and the exact texture that I'm creating right now. Your texture might vary because the shades that you will create will definitely have a little bit of difference in it. I just want to tell you that no need to worry about painting it in the exact same way I'm painting right now. Now to create a nice contrast, I'll be using my round brush of size zero. I've taken some solid black color in it, and I'll be applying this thin line, which basically supreads the two parts of the snowy hill. It basically creates a nice light and shadow effect as well. It's basically a very nice distorted line. You don't have to paint it in a very perfect manner. Once you have painted the entire line, you can just add a little bit of texture on the left hand side as well. By adding the black patches around it, you can carefully observe that I'm just randomly dabbing my brush near the outline that we have painted. You can observe how beautiful the entire texture looks and the hill becomes a little bit more in depth and detail. You just have to simply repeat the same steps using the same round brush of size zero. You can add a little bit of solid black texture on the solid white portion. Also there, you can also create this beautiful, dramatic contrast. Now you can observe how beautiful the entire snow hill looks. It becomes a little bit more realistic when you add this beautiful texture to it. It might take some time to paint the entire snowy hill, but it is absolutely fine because you'll enjoy the entire process of creating this beautiful, natural texture. We are done with the entire snow hill, let it dry for a while, and let us paint the mountains in the front area. But before that, what you can do is you can do a simple step to make the entire texture look a little bit more attractive. What you can do is you can simply take your round rush of size zero, make it completely clean in water, and make it completely dry. You can use the tip of your round brush to blend all the textures that we have applied till now. No need to hurry at all. You can do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner in case you want to skip this particular step. That is also completely fine in case you want to make your snow look a little bit more smoother with a nice gray texture, then you can do this particular step. If you find that there is excess amount of water in your brush, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper. Now let us paint the beautiful mountains that we have in the foreground. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take my round brush of size zero. I've taken some solid black color from the color palette. Let us start with the outline first. No need to hurry at all. Use the tip of your round brush and paint the outline initially. Now once you're done with the entire outline, we are going to paint in solid black color in the entire portion. So try to make a good composition of color and water together. Make sure that you have less water and more solid black color, so that the saturation of the black color does not decreases. You can already observe a beautiful contrast between the solid black mountains and the snowy hill we have painted in the background. In case you find that your color is getting finished from the brush, you can take some more color from the color palette. We are almost done painting the solid black mountains in the front portion as well. I'm just covering the entire area on the right hand side. Now, in order to make the solid black mountains that we have painted a little bit more in depth and detail, you just have to apply these horizontal strokes just below the horizon line. It's a very simple and easy technique. Take some solid black color from the color palette. Use your round brush of size zero and simply apply these horizontal strokes just below the solid black mountains that we have painted. You can apply the horizontal strokes in a very random way. That is completely fine. As you move towards the bottom portion, you can simply decrease the size of the strokes that you're making. This particular step basically creates some nice depth and detail to the entire painting. I'll be painting some rock bodies in the water area as well. It's a very simple and easy technique. Take your round brush of size zero and just paint these small black patches. And apply some nice horizontal strokes just below them. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner in case you want to decide the position of the rock bodies according to your convenience. That is also completely fine. I'll be taking some solid white color in the same round brush of size zero and they're going to paint some beautiful icebergs in the water body as well. Again, it's a very simple and easy technique. You just have to create the outline first and then fill in solid white color in the inner portion. No need to hurry at all. Try to even do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner. You can create the reflection effect of the entire iceberg by creating these little horizontal lines just below that, the way we did on the solid black mountains as well. Again, I'll be creating one more iceberg just beside the first one. Again, I'll be telling you the same thing. You can decide the position of the icebergs according to your convenience. You can create your own composition as well. To make the landscape look a little bit more attractive. I'm adding two little icebergs on the left hand side, as well. As you can observe, I have painted two little icebergs. You can similarly create its reflection effect by adding these little horizontal strokes just below that. To add a little bit of texture onto the iceberg, you can simply add some more solid white color, applying these little patches on the topmost portion. We can also use a little bit of gray shade from the color palette. Add a little bit of water and loosen the color up. Now using the same round rush of size zero, we can add a little bit of gray texture on the small icebergs that we have painted. I'll be just simply applying these little patches on the topmost portion. No need to hurry at all. Try to do this particular step in a very slow and steady manner in case you're not that much confident enough to paint these small icebergs directly towards your water body. What you can do is you can practice it on a rough scrape of paper initially, and then you can come towards your final painting. This will help you a lot to develop confidence and the chances of making mistakes will be very less. I'll be using my same round rush and I'll just paint a circular shape in the sky area, which basically replicates a beautiful moon. You can decide the position of the moon according to your convenience. It is absolutely fine. I have painted it near the clouds. Now, in order to enhance the solid black mountains, we are going to create a beautiful golden color in the color palette as we did in the further projects as well. I'll be using my round rush of size zero. Take some good amount of metallic dust from the gold powder to convert it into a liquid form. I'll take a little bit of glue and water together. Now, mix the components well in the color palette. No need to hurry at all. Try to get a nice composition of all the three elements together. Mix it well in the color palette. Now, once the golden color is ready, you can check its application on a rough scrape of paper and then you can apply it to your final coaster. It's going to be a very simple and easy technique. We are just going to apply these small patches on the solid black mountains that we have painted. This basically enhances the entire solid black mountain. It creates a beautiful, elegant effect to the entire coaster. You can simply observe the movement of my round brush and the way I'm using the tip of my round brush to create this beautiful effect. Now you just have to simply repeat the same process. No need to hurry at all and just paint it in a very slow and steady manner. We are done with the entire coaster. Now let me take you a little bit closer so that you can observe all the details carefully. I hope that you enjoyed creating this particular coaster and got to learn something new. You can observe how beautifully combining some minimal elements together we can form a beautiful landscape. This is the last class project, now let us move towards the next part. 13. Class Conclusion: In case you're new to wash colors. I hope that the entire class helped you a lot to explore the medium a little bit. While I was creating this particular class, I made any number of mistakes. That is something that I always tell my students, never to be afraid of making mistakes. Art is something that brings me a lot of peace and happiness and I personally love to share all the knowledge that I have. One thing that I always suggest my students is to maintain an art journal on which you can practice on a regular basis and keep a record of your artwork. I would be really happy if you tried to create all the five class projects. Do not forget to add your projects to the project gallery. I would love to your work as well. Feel free to ask any questions or doubts you have related to the class. It would be really great if you leave a review for the entire class as it encourages me a lot and my class can reach many more students like you. At the end, I would like to say keep practicing, keep learning. Thank you so much for joining and happy painting.
