1. Introduction: Hello. I welcome you all to my class. My name is Meenakshi and I'm from India. I'm an artist and a teacher. I work a lot on texture painting, and I use oils and acrylics. I like to use the paint for my work, and I like to show how colors next, directly on the canvas. My technique is just like I think, a cupcake. And I treated this class to share my technique with your. In this loss, I'll be teaching you the basics off texture, painting, really first talk about palette knives, and then we'll discuss about pains like what kind of pains would be suitable for this? Then I'll shallot, you guys, my techniques off playing with dimensions. And at last we will paint a free and apply the techniques we learned on a countess. By the end of the class, you'll be able to get started with texture painting. This is absolutely a fun class for anyone who likes to play with dimensions and want to try something new. This classes for you I'll see in the class, but by 2. Part 1 Materials Required: Hi. Welcome back. Let's discuss about the requirements for this class. First of all, you need Candace or in acrylic painting paper. I'll be using 10 biting canvas for this class. You'll also need actually pains, shades off screen for the background and any colors off your choice for the flowers and also burnt amber and Iloka. For the treat drunk. You need a white charcoal pencil to draw the outline. If you are a beginner, the main requirement is thes palette. Knives will discuss more about what palette knives to use in the next session. You'll also need brushes, few filbert, few around and detail brush for creating the background. Textures will be using a stencil brush if you don't have this brush than you can replace it with aluminium foil sheet. And, of course, you need a jar off water to clean your precious. That's all about the requirements, just a recap see in the next session. But by 3. Part 2 Learning the Basics: Hello guys will not talk about pains and palette. Knives. Oil paints are really good for texture paintings, but in today's class we are dealing with actual eggs. Well, no companion, normal acrylics with heavy body acrylic paints. And let's see how each one works. So I'm adding paint on a palette scoop. A good amount off, preyed on your knife. Since heavy body at Rolex, I think I'm easily able to take the paint on my knife. Gently apply pressure and you get this beautiful stroke. Oil paints will also give the stick text chills. I can also go with oil pains. Now we'll try the same using normal act relics. Normal acrylics are flowy, so it's difficult for me to take the paint using my knife. It's running anyways. I managed to take some, but in this class will be working with normal acrylics without any past a medium, and I'll teach you how my technique works well with both, the pains will start with heavy body acrylics. So what I'm doing is I'm turning the backside off my knife and applying paint statically on my knife. Apply it on the canvas and you get this beautiful, better Now we'll try with the normal actual excusing the same technique turned the knife screens that you apply, the pain toe the knife transferred to the canvas. It is that simple. The result is good, of course. It is not as good as heavy body actor legs, but still it has good texture. Now we talk about palette knives. They come in different sizes and shapes. It's important to choose the right palette. Knife based on watcher Gonna paint. I show you a demo of how your results would be using different palette knives. First, we'll start with this triangle shaped pointed knife. We got this beautiful point of texture. This knife would be ideal for painting passed off loveless and release the second knife. I'm using a small and it has a blonde dip. I regard this beautiful round texture and this knife would be ideal for painting flowers. The third knife is similar to the 2nd 1 by the one Lee differences that it is very big. This'll knife is ideal for painting large flowers. There are so many different varieties off palette knives available the market based on what you're gonna pain, choose the right palette knife will now paint a flower based on what we have low. Until now. Apply the paint on the knife and transferred it to the canvas. It takes a little bit off practice because you need control. Your hands might be shaky if you are doing it for the first time. Change the orientation of the candidates based on your comfort. Do the same thing again and again on to get this beautiful. Even if you are a big you know, and you don't have any experience in past of painting or texture painting, you can still do this. It's very easy now. We'll paint the same draws the flower, use the same technique, but use a different color while I love the texture regard, I'll see in the next session, but we paint the background with a beautiful texture. Until then, bye bye. 4. Part 3 Painting the Background: having load the basics we love paint the background regarding the colors for the background . I have chosen shades off greens and yellows. What we are painting today is not realistic. One. So, yes, you can choose your own colors on starting with emerald green for a dark shade. Now I'm going with brilliant yellow green for a mildly don't apply the pain directly on the canvas. On One more thing, we are going to get texture to the background. So, yes, we need a large amount of pain for this. And at last I'm using lemon yellow. Apply a good amount of paint on the canvas. No one can. This looks so beautiful. It's time to mess it all up. I'm using a filbert brush number 18 for this. Whenever you're painting the background, start with one color, finish it and go to the next way. Have started with emerald green, will complete it and will go to the next color without cleaning my brush. I'm starting the next color. When I do this, are mixing the two colors directly on the canvas, and that's what I want. No, I guess you can see we used a lot of paint on the count. This, you might think it's too much, but it's OK. That's what we want. We haven't reached the climax yet. You don't have to blend the colors. Just pray the paint on the canvas, and that's enough way will do the blending work later. Now I'm slowly moving to the lemon and Ocala and because I'm using the same brush, I'm getting this light shade of green. You can see my can. This is no completely blended dark shirt off green on the corners and like green in the middle. It's no completely blended right, But that's OK. We'll do the blending process very soon. I'm insured with a low, somatic moray low to my canvas. At last record, this beautiful marble effect way are done. Now comes the fun thought we're gonna add texture, and for this I'm using a dry stencil brush. Don't you dip your brush in water else and not be able to get the decide texture Gently topped the brush on the canvas again. Start with one color completed and go to the next. Now we completed emerald green gradually moved towards the next color. I'm not cleaning my brush before I'm going to the next color, use the same brush and when you're doing this, you get this radiant, your gradually blending the colors. And that's what way. Since we added a lot of pain on the center part, we got really good texture in the center. But on the ages, I added a little bit small quantity off paint, so the textures moderate, not as good as it is in the center. If you don't have the stencil brush, you can also use aluminium foreign, crush it and use it. It also gives a really good texture not similar to this one, but it gives a different design, which is also good. It's all about creativity can use different things and get different texture. Artist all about being courageous way are almost done with a background is the close of short of the texture regard using this technique. As you can see, the middle portion has really good texture when compared to the ages, so when you're doing the background, use a lot of pain. I regard this beautiful tracking effect see in the next session by 5. Part 4 Painting the Tree Trunk: Hi. Welcome back. Our background is completely dry by now, so we'll start to paint the tree. For my reference. I'm using a wide charcoal pencil to draw the basic outline off the tree. This will help you if you're a beginner, and make sure you don't apply too much pressure on the pencil because the background checks shall be disturbed and we don't want that. The drawing is not visible on the screen, but it's just for your reference and for this will be using two brushes Phil but number eight and round number six. I'm using bone tumble to paint the tree trunk at a little bit off water to the brush that would give you a slope flow. - You can also paint a straight tree trunk, but I chose to faint a circular a one. Any waste snorted realistic painting, so feel free to explore different designs. Since we have this textured background, your tree will also have texture, which, as beauty to your painting way, got this basic tree trunk. No, let's kill down the brush size and draw smaller branches, and for this I'm using a round brush. Number six split the branches into another level. If you find difficult to reach some angles, remember, you can always change the orientation of the canvas. This might be challenging few painted tree for the first time. It just takes some practice. Be bold and take your brush. Now we have the basic tree trunk. Time to have the highlights for the first laid off highlights. Amusing. A mixture off cadre and a loca. You get this noise light brown effect. I'm assuming the light is coming from the right hand side, so I'm giving highlights on the right side of the dream. After adding card dread, go to a loca. - One standard painting is dry. I'm adding them in a loop. Do not lend too much. Just take some paint and apply it on the canvas, giving a marble effect do the same for the whole tree way . Almost done. We got this beautiful tree drunk and our highlights are really good. The next session is going to be even more fun. We'll be painting those beautiful texture flowers. I'll see you that the by 6. Part 5 Painting Flowers: Hello. Welcome back. Well, now pain flowers for this amusing of land aged palette. Knife on its your choice off color. Anyways, I'm using form and a low deep. I have already talked to the basics off texture painting one more time. Squeeze the tube and I had a paint directly on the knife. Transferred it to the canvas. It's that simple. You don't have to use an in Pasto medium. Do the same again and again. You can make five petaled flowers, three petaled flowers, four petaled flowers. Just go and complete the whole tree. - Time to paint the center off the flowers and for this amusing three. But you can choose your own color. Well, it's not actually great. It's the kind of Silver Qala can you see. I'm just touching the canvas to apply too much pressure. Flowers or not, it dry way are not done with this painting. Your class project will be discussed in the next session. I'll see you that but by 7. Class Project: I guess you will enjoy the class. Hope you all understood the basics off texture, painting and all about ballot knives and what pains to use. I guess you gain confidence to do your own texture painting, so your class project will be to do your own texture. Painting. You can paint a tree or a bookie over the tests. Just get started with texture, painting and post your projects. I would love to see them, but by
